The workers from Transit System are very quick and responsive. Everything arrived with minimal damage. The shipment came quicker than expected and they were able to handle it really well. The only real negative is that the weight estimate was off by 625 lbs and they ended up charging me an extra $1000. I still don't know how we possibly went over on weight and then why it was so expensive.

The original quote was for 10 boxes but they adjusted the quote once the official count was determined. Actual quote was based on weight but I just told them the # of boxes. Everything arrived in excellent condition.

The raft frame was a little complicated and took some time to break apart into "shippable" sizes. I had a little trouble finding boxes long enough for the oars and side rails. I contacted ten different shippers and received quotes from each one. There were quite a bit of variation between the quotes, and TSI was definitely the lowest.. They did a supper joy of shrink wrapping the five boxes onto a pallet. TSI was able to get the shipment to the final destination in one day less time than they estimated.. Over all they did an excellent job at a reasonable price. My only problem was that they couldn't tell me an exact total price until after they shipped the boxes. The fellow who received the shipment and shared the cost was not too happy about not knowing the final cost until after receiving the boxes.

The company outsourced the work to another contractor. There is nothing wrong with this if the company chooses their subcontractor well. The subcontractor assigned to me was late by over an hour for pick up and late again for over an hour for delivery.

We are a third party shipping company and we work with some of the best carriers. We are able to offer low prices and good service because of this. Shipping long distance means trucks and crews travel long distances as they pick up and deliver along regional routes that cover multiple states. There is occasionally a delay on pickup or delivery. That is why we state very clearly in our terms and conditions, as well as on the phone when customers book their shipments, that we cannot guarantee exact pick up or delivery times, but rather a time window. Even local delivery companies do the same. All that said, we strive to please the customer and we apologize for any lack of communication on our end for the late pick up.

Transit Systems (TSI) customer service is very poor once you hire them. The furniture was picked up timely and delivered in good condition 8 weeks later. Edward at TSI confirmed the payment and delivery terms prior to my hiring them, and estimated 4 to 6 weeks for delivery. A broker, Edward D?Addio at TSI explained, has more weight with the actual shipper, and stays on top of my shipment. TSI did not provide the support described. Next time I will hire MicroShip, the actual shipper, directly. Contrary to what TSI told me, they charged the ?pre-delivery? balance to my credit card 3 weeks before delivery, with no estimated delivery date, no knowledge of where the furniture was stored, or my permission. Contrary to what I was told, TSI doesn?t appear to have a clear or consistent policy about payment. TSI policy seems to be that they be paid in full, whenever they feel like it, and maybe, sometime, eventually, they will arrange delivery of the shipment. There was huge variation in the responsiveness of the TSI customer support people. Only Renee left me with the feeling that she was working on my behalf to get the delivery scheduled. Without my almost daily calls to finally get the furniture delivered, it would likely still be sitting in a warehouse

As this member stated, the furniture was picked up and delivered is good condition. That is paramount to us and our customers. The extenuating circumstances here is that he repeatedly told us there was no need to rush delivery. And we were somewhat handcuffed because the member blocked off part of the delivery time window – he said he’d be away on a business trip in early July and couldn't take delivery then. Our carriers run regular routes, and a pickup or dropoff may be delayed when the customer is unavailable. That said, eight weeks is an excessive amount of time to have to wait for delivery and we apologize. As for payment, we do have a very clear policy. We stated that the second half of the payment would be collected prior to delivery, and that is exactly what happened. The eight-week gap before delivery obviously made the credit card charge seem premature – it would have been a week or less under normal circumstances – but again, it clearly was done according to our policy.

it They picked up the furniture , the didpatcher called me on the 12th and said he would be at my house on the 13th so I called Nadine to see how much if any I still owed and the entire bottom dropped out when she sais 3200. on top of the 2200. I had already paid. I have never seen a company that seemed to be so nice get so starved for money in my 77 years of being here. Well as it stands right now they have kept her belongings until I come up with the 3200. plus Nadine said another pick up and delivery charge and storage charge. I know there was to be a little extra on top of 2200. dollars but 3200. more dollars and only the Lord knows how much they will say I owe them now. I am totally disabled and hardly ever even drive and for all the ugly days Transit Systems have put me through they will have to answer for. Now I do not know what to do, everything My child owned bedroom set, couch, tables and her personal items taken by Transit System.
Description of Work: Picked up my daughters probably less than a room of furniture from fort Lauderdale , Florida and then before they would deliver it to me told me I owed them 3200. more dollars on top of the 2200. that I had already paid. Yes Nadine did say there might be a little more money when they were through but did not say it would be 5500. dollars . She knew I had to borrow the 2200. and asked could I not borrow the other 3200.. I am 77 years of age and really feel that Transit System has a big scam going with me.

The member originally contracted to have 15 items shipped. Upon arrival, our pickup crew discovered that the member’s daughter wanted us to transport 26 items, 9 of which had to be crated because they were made at least partially of marble or glass. We don’t know if there was miscommunication between the family members, we only know that the pickup inventory was far different from the inventory we were told about beforehand. The additional weight and the crating services increased the cost. We called the Angie’s List member to explain that there would be an additional charge for the additional weight and crating services. We told her it would be at least twice the original cost, we did not say it would cost “a little more.” We are not cold-hearted people, immune to the circumstances of the member, but we simply cannot afford to transport items for half what it costs us. We have an excellent rating and reputation in Angie’s List, and we’ve been in business since 1989, but we won’t last another month if we don’t charge for our services. It seems likely that the member’s daughter is the cause of the misunderstanding, but we can only guess

It really went wonderfully. Could not have asked for better service. As I said above, communications were always prompt and honest. My contact, Steve, was very helpful. Definitely knew what he was doing. I had NO "surprises," for which I was very grateful. Really could not be happier and their cost of moving these goods was far less than any other options I'd explored! To the extent that I'd read some negative comments, I think those people failed to use common sense, as in clearly labeling every box, and, packing your belongings carefully. Some of my boxes arrived looking very badly "beat up," but, no damage to contents. I'd realized that my boxes were probably going to be changing trucks at least a few times along the way, so I did take care to package my things carefully. While several of the items I'd shipped WERE definitely break-able, despite the apparent rough-handling, they all arrived intact. If you're shipping something made of glass, use your common sense and wrap it well in plenty of bubble wrap. If you fail to do so, your item(s) could easily arrive broken. But, a little bit of common sense goes a long ways!!!!

The move was timely made. All of the tasks were performed as described above. A major issue is that the movers dropped the desk at the pickup location and it broke. The movers had the desk repaired satisfactorily. My issue is that the only reason I know about it is that my sister witnessed the drop. I expected to get a call from Transit System notifying me of the accident but I did not. This incident has diminished my confidence in Transit Systems

From the beginning, long before the actual move, my contact person (Tom Tract) was excellent. He was prompt, helpful, and pleasant. The range of delivery dates is perhaps not ideal, but given what they do (move multiple households), it is perfectly understandable. The first set of movers came a day later than the actual range, but that worked out well. They were also prompt, professional, and friendly. The second set of movers, who delivered my stuff, came within the range of dates. They were also professional, efficient, and helpful. There was one tiny tear in the bottom of my mattress, but everything else was perfect. The cost even came in under their original estimate. I recommend this company highly and without reservation, and I would use them again. Thanks, TSI! I am a satisfied customer.

We used their white glove service, they picked the extremely heavy upright piano and bench in Stillwater OK then drove to our place in Florence SC. Along the way they made other deliveries. When it arrived here, the driver showed up 6 minutes before he said he would which was oustanding! He also did a phenomenal job backing the truck through one of the drive through gates in the backyard with inches to spare on either side. He then backed the truck up to the sunroom and lined it up so the lift was over the top step and they could just roll the piano into the bedroom from there. It was amazing since the piano was so heavy!

In order to insure the items, you must make a list of each box and the value of the box. FYI: they do not insure TVs. I emailed the list to my service rep. On the day of the move, we carried the 16 boxes to our driveway. Pickup was scheduled for 1:00-5:00 pm. At 4:30 I called to make sure I was still scheduled for pickup, and was told driver was running late. At 6:30, I called and was told it would be rescheduled for Monday. I told Transit Systems I worked so the driver came at 7:30 pm. The driver was apologetic, his time depends on the previous customers being ready after all, and I was the last on the schedule. He couldn't have been more helpful, he drove a pallet out of his truck, organized the boxes on the pallet, we taped them together and away the boxes were loaded on the truck. He said they would be wrapped better before loaded on the truck to CA. On the delivery end, my son got a phone call when the driver was 1 hour from his place, and he met the driver at the apartment. We shipped 2 TVs, dishes and glassware - and everything arrived undamaged!!! Was really skeptical about using this service, others said boxes were missing and damaged. But we had a very pleasant experience.

From my initial contact to the delivery of the items, the process went very well! I received a response to my inquiry within 8-12 hours (at the most). The company is located on the east coast (near Philadelphia) and I live in Seattle - there was no delay in receiving information. The account manager (Edward D'Addio) was extremely helpful, professional and provided excellent customer service. Edward took the time to understand our needs, explained the services and options available and he seemed genuinely concerned with assisting us through a stressful situation (due to the fact that I was coordinating the shipping long distance within a very tight timeframe). I really appreciate Edward's excellent customer service. The job was contracted out to Navis in Las Vegas and the crew (Dan and Josh) were really good! They arrived on time and were very efficient and at the same time, took care of my mother's belongings and seemed concerned with ensuring that all would reach us intact. The Seattle area delivery person (unfortunately I didn't write down his name) with Con-way Freight was also very professional. As we requested, he called us before arriving (we were coming from work). When he arrived he quickly but safely off-loaded the pallet. He even took most of the packing material back to recycle. I'm glad that I found Transit Systems via Angie's List! Edward and team definitely made a stressful situation less so.

Every aspect of this transaction was accomplished in a highly professional and efficient manner. We live in Texas. We were shipping a chair from Midland, MI to Owasso, OK. The chair was picked up on time, packed off-site, and delivered as promised. Transit Systems, Inc. coordinated the entire process. Pricing was acceptable. Concurrently, we also shipped another heirloom chair from Midland, MI to Fullerton, CA. The results were the same. Transit Systems made both of these shipments very easy.

Pros They picked up the items on-time and were professional and nice in Massachusetts. The items arrived in Arizona early. The delivery crew was very very nice and professional. Cons When the items arrived, the driver called and said "we will be there in 10 minutes" but that morning I had an email saying they were still a week away. Luckily I was home so I said, "great". When the items were unpacked, I saw a crack (or maybe a scratch) in the glass of the antique curio cabinet. The movers were very nice and helpful as we tried to determine if it was a crack (bad news) or a scratch (no big deal to me) in the glass. They took pictures and were very helpful. We agreed to mark the length and see if it spread - that is how we decided to determin the extent of the damage. They gave me a Cus Service number to call. I called twice to let them know that we could have a potential problem; no one ever called me back. It appears that it was a scratch because it has not gotten any bigger, BUT it concerns me that no one called me back. I can't give them higher marks than I have because I am not sure how they would handle a complaint.

Since TSI is a broker, I was fully aware that they are subcontracting the moving companies and cannot control every little thing. That being said, I felt that every bump along the way was pretty much addressed. The first shipment was a small shipment that I boxed and weighed myself and had to have waiting at the curb. The driver was supposed to arrive between 12 and 5 pm (California Time) and when he/she never showed up, I had to leave a message for TSI in Pennsylvania. But the next day they arranged for another driver who actually showed up before noon and didn't complain about having to get the boxes out of the house. Delivery was early and foisted upon a neighbor as they driver didn't appear to have the correct phone number, even though it was on each box, but everything was there and undamaged. The second shipment was a medium sized white glove shipment to Pennsylvania. The driver called and wanted to come a couple days early according to the information I had (one day early according to his information) and he and his helper were courteous and professional. Early was OK, because everything was ready to go. They ended up counting one more box than I had counted, but I figured that was better than less. They delivered early/on time and did a good job. They did end up delivering an extra wardrobe box filled with trash, but all else was accounted for and undamaged. The third shipment consisted of large furniture to New Mexico. The driver and helper asked to come a couple hours early due to the extreme heat. This team was the most professional and easy to work with. At this point it has not yet been delivered, and they want to deliver it a week earlier than originally quoted, which is a little problematic as I will not yet be home to receive it, but we can deal with it. Dealing with Philip at TSI has actually been very easy. He is very professional, straightforward, and knows what he is doing. I would definitely work with TSI again based on my experiences.

Fantastic on the phone and via email. They were friendly, responsive, and got back to me promptly. The problem was that I got a bad estimate, and the move cost me almost twice what I was expecting. I provided a list of the items I anticipated moving (with measurements for every piece of furniture) to three companies, all based on good Angie's List reviews. Two were national moving companies, and the third was Transit Systems brokerage. Transit Systems came back the least expensive, so I went with them. (I should have known the price was too good to be true.) I did add several boxes to the move that weren't on the list, so I expected the price to go up a bit, but I definitely did not add enough to DOUBLE the weight of my shipment. I mentioned to the movers that I had gotten a bad estimate, and they said it's pretty common. They said some brokers actually tell the customer to estimate the weight of their items themselves. How would a lay person know what a bed frame or an armoire weighs? Transit Systms didn't ask me to do that -- so I assume they have a sense of what things weigh. Clearly not. The final bill was quite a shock. Regarding the moving company they hired ... some outfit out of Philadelphia, I believe. I'd give them a B. I initially had a hard time getting a definite move date out of them ... I had the week, but had to call several times to get the specific day. They arrived on time to load, and the same crew delivered my items on the other end a week later. My bed frame got pretty scratched up, the sofa got a little dirty (even though I completely wrapped it in plastic myself), and some trim got knocked off an armoire (happily, they saved the trim and I was able to nail it back on). I had labeled every single item with my name and address, so all of my boxes made it off the truck to me, but they also left three boxes and some art from someone else's shipment ... unlabeled items. Another crew swung by to collect them a few days later. Not sure why they would have left unmarked boxes when all my items were clearly labeled. I think for my move back in a year or so, I'll go with a national cross-country company. It'll cost about the same (maybe less), and there should be fewer surprises.

When providing customers with a quote for their shipment, Transit Systems asks the customer to provide weights if they know them. Boxes and other smaller items can be easily weighed on a bathroom scale. For larger items we use industry standard weights based on the customer’s inventory list, descriptions, and dimensions. All national moving companies, including Transit Systems, use this method when an onsite estimate is not possible. We need this information to be accurate and all-inclusive. Incomplete information or adding items before pickup will naturally add to the cost, as well as create the potential for items being lost. (We thank the member for labeling all of her items and urge everyone to do that.) We regret that our estimate sometimes needs to be adjusted, but we rely on the customer’s information, and additional charges from reweighs are infrequent. Regarding the scratches, we were not informed of any damage and urge any customer to contact us to make an insurance claim for them if any item should ever be damaged.

I wanted to move two pieces of furniture that were part or my parents' estate to my home in North Carolina. I found TSI on line and had no difficulty completing their shipment request form (unlike some other companies they did not ask for the weight of the furniture, which I had no way of determining). They let me know how pickup and delivery would be scheduled and an approximate time frame for delivery. The furniture arrived undamaged and the crew was very careful with placement--all the more critical since both pieces were going to the second floor. I was very pleased with their work, am delighted to have the furniture and would certainly use the company again.

It's important to note this company is a broker. The company they hired showed up in an inadequate sized truck with only 3 men at 11:30AM. Moving is stressful enough and they have you over a barrel - the move had to be made that day due to settlements. Being told after numerous calls that they were on their way yet still showing up two hours late was stress we did not need. From Bryn Mawr where the truck left to Chester Springs it takes at most 40 minutes when leaving to get there on time. The owner-operator of the company assured us we would get the job done. I had to go with him, however,to rent a 27 foot Budget truck with blankets so we could pull this off. As well as I had to put this on my credit card and assume liability. Totally unacceptable. It turns out that a newly hired operations manager sent their big truck to another job. To that companies credit the men did work hard. The job was finished at roughly 11:30PM. I had to miss a personal event I was looking forward to attending due to this move going way past the time we expected four men that started at 8:30 am to complete. It's important to note the owner of this company did discount the bill and cover the cost of lunch and the truck. But this NEVER should have taken place. I understand crap does happen and you make the most of it to correct it. They did finish the job, however, both of us even had to help carry stuff in and out of the house. We were shocked this company gets the reviews they do on Angie's list. It makes the whole thing suspect. Why are we paying when the Internet offers plenty of reviews for free?
Description of Work: contracted with this company to move a large, four bedroom house from Chester springs to glen mills. We were SUPPOSED to get 4 men in a full sized truck with the move starting at 8:30AM.

It’s true our agent was late and brought the wrong size truck, which obviously caused the job to run late. We have apologized for the inconvenience to the member, and we do so again here. Here’s what we did to make this good: 1) We immediately reimbursed the cost of the rental truck and paid for lunch; 2) We provided a $600 discount/refund to the member; 3) Our dispatcher stayed in constant contact with the crew throughout the day to make sure everything was moved properly and as quickly as possible after our initial gaffe. Again, we deeply regret the delay, but we feel we did everything we could to make things right. As for the comment about our reviews being suspect, Angie's List members know they can trust reviews on this site. We understand the member wanted to vent about the delay, but frankly it’s a slap in the face not just to us but to all Angie’s List members to question that fact.

The move went well overall. Some confusion about the pick up date but it got worked out promptly to our satisfaction. Moving company used, Rick Ships from High Point NC, was very good. The movers themselves at both ends were very efficient, professional, and pleasant to deal with.
Description of Work: Moved sofa, furniture, queen bed, tables,chairs and about 10 boxes from MD to FL.

This company was great...on time at both ends, good communication. Workers were efficient, capable and quite jolly. Their knowledge and attitude were much appreciated.
Description of Work: Picked up and moved a small shipment --mostly antiques--of household goods and furniture from North Carolina to Boston. Did an especially good job of packing a number of glass items, including lampshades.
