Spence Painting did an excellent job of painting the exterior of my home. The painters were professional, performed meticulous painting, friendly, and courteous. I would recommend Spence Painting to anyone who needs quality painting. I am planning for them to do more painting in the near future.

They were courteous and good. They were quick and got the job done in the time they said they would get it done. They had the best price form all the quotes that I got. They showed up when they were supposed to and they put down drop-cloths to make sure nothing got on anything. They were very professional and a top notch team.

Happy to add Dave and Spence Painting to my list of preferred contractors. I had an awful experience with a local painter that names himself after a women's drink. That deserves a separate review, but if you are in the Washington, PA area you may be able to figure this out. Spence to the rescue! I set them loose on an investment property first. A big 4 bedroom with loads of trim and baseboard. They were thorough and professional. I did not need to babysit them; I simply left them a key. I stopped in only because I was working on other areas of the house and was always pleased with the progress. The final result was worth the extra money. If you receive a few bids and the price is a percentage higher -- just go with it. You'll receive the value in better paint quality and attention to detail. All Sherwin Williams on this project. Next they came to my home office and rescued me from the fizzy martini drink guy. Really, the project was a disaster, but the Spence crew moved in, took charge, and left a fantastic result behind them. Another one of those 'why did I not hire him in the first place' My lesson learned: trying to save money does not save you money. Ever. If one bid is xx% more, but comes with reviews like mine -- don't overthink it. Hire for quality. I am pleased to have another contractor that I can depend on, and this is exactly what Angie's List was made for. Now I need to go find a roofer, so I hope the rest of you are writing reviews that I can use!

This is the second time we have used Spence Painting ( Dave ) and his men. We were so impressed with the work they did last year for us in pressure washing and painting our house on the exterior. Our house is 100 yrs. old and was no easy task, but the work performed was nothing short of excellent !!! Dave and his crew are very knowledgeable, professional, trustworthy and extremely fair. We added some things in the middle of the job and he had it fit in very nicely. We told him we would possibly be having more work done at a later time and would be calling him for an estimate. We decided around the first of June 2013 that we would like to get an estimate on some work, total remodel of a bath-room on the main level ( my mother in law stays with us in the summer during hurricane season from Floridia and stays on the main level and use this bath ), have the floor on an enclosed porch leveled , garage roof pressure washed ,3 sets of block windows installed for basement and level our kitchen counter top. When we called Dave we showed him our wish list , time frame and budget. Having met my mother in law last year he knew our time situation with the bathroom . He explained he was extremely busy right now and a little backed up due to un-cooperating weather we had this year ( 3 weeks of rain almost everyday ), BUT said he would definitely work the bathroom remodel in before my mother in law would get here. He asked if the other work was a prority. We told him no and he could hold off till he was able to get caught up. We told him that was fine and appreciated whatever he could do. About two weeks ago we met Dave at Lowes and gave him our list wants: fixtures, flooring, toilet etc. The following Monday he and one of his men Bill showed up on time ( as always ) and completely gutted the bathroom except for the shower which was staying. They had drop cloths covering everywhere they had to walk. They were very clean and protective of our house, cleaned up and hauled away all debris , even offering to vacumn They did such an amazing job, we still can't believe it was once the same area. They took it upon themselves knowing that my aging mother in law would be using this area to install a plug socket with a built in night light, went to a speciality supply house and got a sensor light switch that would go on as she entered the bathroom with settings to go off automatically , searched and found a special 3 way switch for the heat ,fan and ceiling light combo unit that would be user friendly for her. We can not say enough about the personalities, honesty, professionalism of Spence Painting. The quality of work performed far far exceeded our expectations.. I would HIGHLY,HIGHLY recommend this company for work you would need performed. It' s done with great pride by great people. Thanks Dave and Bill for all the hard work and effort you put into this, sorry about the crooked walls and appreciate what you did with shower door. If you are looking for painters-these are your guys! Dave and crew were great-prompt, professional and pleasant painters! Dave called me the day before to make sure all was well. My husband has been ill and I really appreciated his consideration. The crew showed up at the time Dave said they would and went right to work. They did a great job and were done in the time Dave Had said they would be. Not only that but it was refreshing to hear a contractor say "he" (Dave) was not happy with how it looked so he had them do another coat-not because I didn't like it but because he was not satisfied! That is the kind of person I want working in my home. Thanks Dave, you will hear from me again!

Painted a child's bedroom. We found them via Angies list. Very competent, professional and courteous. Price was not the lowest but quality was excellent. Price was OK very reasonable but there were others lower but not well rated.

Dave Spence and his crew arrived early and put in a full day. They made arrangements for when the work would be done and adhered to that without fail. The work itself was done in a vintage home which is over 100 years old. Dave showed a craftsmanship and design sense which made me feel comfortable with the work that would be done. In two particular cases he made choices about how to paint fireplaces which resulted in lovely accents to the existing detail. We have ornate plaster work which we wanted done in accenting colors and the work was done meticulously. He did patching and then two coats for that price over a large area of the house. The work was of very high quality and the clean-up was thorough. They moved furniture out of the rooms and then back in upon completion. We were very very pleased. The only area of concern was the price. I think their prices are higher than average. However when you have a crew of painters come into your home and you see how quickly a large job can be finished, the price takes on an added dimension. We felt that the money was worth it when you consider how quickly the job was completed.

Dave Spence's Company was recommended to us by our mailman who went to High School with Dave's brother. We called and set up an appt. for an estimate to have the exterior of the house painted. He gave us a date and time to come out and was here when he said he would be. We took a ten minute walk around the house and within 30 minutes had a completed estimate in our hands He took the time to explain in detail the work, process and product they would be using . Our house is over 100 years old with aluminum siding and had not been painted in 25 + years. Dave's estimate was the third one we had recieved. Dave was the only one who appeared to have the knowledge of the process needed to be done, and done right for a lasting finish. He explained the type of paint needed and bonding additives needed to avoid peeling and chalking. down the road. This was a process neither of the previous companies mentioned, even after I asked if there was a difference between painting siding and wood.We chose to go with Dave and gave him a call. He set a time that would work for both of us, and within a very reasonable time frame. He explained they would start on a Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. with 2 men pressure washing the house. The 2 men arrived at 8:20 and were on ladders working within 10 mins. It was a very hot day and I was concerned with them over doing themselves. These 2 men were so thorough and paticular ( going back over areas a second time when necessary) They were extremely polite and respectful of areas around the property.They explained that normally they wait a couple of days after washing to begin painting, but given the heat things were drying almost instantly. They took our paint color chips and said they would return the next morning around 8:30. Again at 8:20 a.m 6 men showed up. They all introduced themselves to us and after a quick chat did a quick walk around the house and had brushes in their hands. Within 20 minutes they we're on ladders and the paint was going on. It was like watching a football game, each man had his position and it was game on. One on the roof doing the overhangs while another spotted the ladder, another went straight to window trim, another went to scraping, each one working with one color and painting whatever was to be done in that color. I have never seen men more organized . It was truely a joy to watch as you could tell this was a crew that has worked together for some time , and knew what they were doing. They we're so insyinc with each other.Unfortunately for them we we're in a real hot spell and I felt bad for them, but that didn"t seem to slow them down. We just tried to keep them hydrated and they took their scheduled breaks. As I stated earlier this is a very old house we inherited, and it has been through several years of semi-neglect, so this was NO EASY TASK. Dave never hesitated when we asked about having some additional work done. We discussed it and he helped with suggestions on some material and trim. The results were great, and really exceeded our expectations.The job took 5 full days and 2 men a couple of hours on day 6.I can only say, we NEVER met a more professional group of men. They we're VERY courteous ,VERY respectful, Very friendly, but most VERY good at what they do. They would ask daily if we were satisfied with that days work. Even when there was a miscommunication on a window trim color that needed to be repainted ( our fault ) it was taken very lightly and not a problem.There are no other words I can say about these men and Dave Spence, other than if you really want it done right this is your company to do it . I do not give out high marks often and tell things the way they are, but when you earn it you deserve it. To Dave Spence and his crew a GENUINE THANK YOU. Jack & Jan Shumaker p.s. Dave told me months ago he would paint my home in May and he started the job in May. Dave & his team of family members is always polite, professional, neat, & efficient. Dave was very helpful with color selection as I'm 64 & only trust my eyesight when I get a 2nd concurring opinion. Dave demonstrated great patience when I was "confusing the issue" by calling colors by incorrect names & also when he took significant time to hang "gingerbread" trim and wreaths onto the home when the painting was finished & it wasn't easy getting attachment hardware thru bricks nor easy to hang trim on uneven siding. There were 4 different surfaces of different ages to paint-old, slightly-oxidized aluminum soffit & fascia which required knowledge of what undercoating to apply before the color coats; many wooden surfaces requiring knowledge of protective stains; concrete which required special paint; and metal. Dave knew which product would provide optimal protection/durability. Colors had to be custom-blended using Sherwin Williams surface-specific products.This meant there were a lot of similar-appearing cans to use requiring care to ensure the right product was used on the correct surface. Dave goes "out of his way" to please. He painted a couple items I forgot to mention at no extra cost. Anything that needs changed, corrected, added is immediately done. There were challenges specific to this job which Dave & his crew had to deal with. My well & spring water systems were in the process of being upgraded and were disconnected for relocation. Dave & crew had to drive a few miles for restroom facilities & for several days had to clean brushes in the creek flowing across my front yard. And they "rolled with the punches" with smiles on their faces. Dave looked at several rooms inside for the purpose of bid generation. If the numbers are acceptable I will definitely use Spence Painting to paint these interior rooms as he has painted interior rooms for me at another property and I was very satisfied.

We are building a new home and I contacted Spence Painting for interior painting in late March. I want to add some color other than the builder's off white. Dave Spence was cordial and initially receptive to the potential work. We spoke on three or four separate occasions about the a price estimate for the job. He delayed for so long that by the time he stopped at the house it was locked to protect new just installed flooring. In his discussion with my husband Dave indicated that things were in tumult but promised to return to the house two days later to do the estimate. We have never heard from him. We expected more with his "A" rating on Angies List.

Dave Spence brought his brother and son to assist and they make a very experienced, neat, professional, efficient team. It was "raining pitchforks" the morning the job started, so Dave and team had to pick up the already-ordered paint and drive to my home in the pouring rain, but arrived right on time. I appreciate that Dave didn't make me wait forever to get this job done as other reputable painters do. I feel his price is fair given the responsiveness to my need (the rooms were a mess) and the quality of his whole team's workmanship. I like to see generations of family members working together. These guys were very friendly nice folks, easy to share my home with, and really "pushed it" to get done and out of my way in just 1 busy day. They skipped their lunch and worked overtime at no extra cost to accomplish this. They were neat, tarped everything, and left no paint spatter behind. They even tolerated kitties underfoot and parrots sqawking. I am scheduled to have Dave and his team paint the exterior of another home this spring. I recommend Dave and his team to all!

Good crew, responsive and very pleasant and professional.

Both men who came out were very nice and they both did a good job. It was a 99% perfect job.
