I contracted Mr. Vance in May of 2009 and work started in August 2009. Everything seemed to go as planned with the new shingles, gutters and down spouts. The new sun room structure seemed good as well until the day that I was to order the windows that were to be installed which was a second contract for him to do at a later date after the original work was completed. Also the second contract included new siding installed on the outside of the sun room. He gave me all of the measurements for the windows and I bought and special ordered the Pella windows from Lowe's as they were not standard sizes. One month and $14000 later, the windows arrived and I picked them up and brought them to my house and called Mr. Vance to inform him of they're arrival. He promptly arrived and looked at the pile of windows (22 windows in all and 2 sliding glass doors) that I had there and accepted a down payment for the second job of installing the windows/ doors. Later that evening he calls me and informed me that all of the windows were ordered wrong and that he expected them to all come already put together as three different units. This is when the real problems started. Not returning calls, not showing up to complete the work until I threatened to take actiion. So, he returns the check that I had written him and now I was stuck with $14000 dollars of windows. I found another contractor through Lowe's and the windows were installed. Not perfect but aceptable. The spacing was not enough to install them correctly but the job was finished by the second contractor. Mr. Vance still had money from me to complete the siding and he supposedly completed that in December of 2009 while I was out of town. See pictures of finished product. After all of this, winter came and more problems surfaced with the roof job. Leaking, gutters don't drain correctly. After investigating, found two different boards that were broken and just tar papered and shingled over (see Pictures). Trying to make the nightmare shorter, I took him to court and won a settlement of three thousand and some change. Haven't seen a penny. The sheriff's depeartment went to have a sheriff's sale and found that everything down to the last ladder was not in his name and in his wife's name. So he has been down this road before. Piece of garbage. I will go to my grave spreading the bad experience about him. Every chance that I get and have done so.
