I can't say enough about the wonderful job Doran Hard Surfaces did for us, and I can't wait to have them back again to finish our steps and upstairs hallway and then our second floor bedrooms. Greg from Doran did all of the work on his own in a single day. He was prompt, efficient, hard-working and dedicated. He was also professional, courteous, friendly and very helpful in describing caring for the hard wood floors. I can't rate them highly enough!

The initial consultation was fine, but after the work had begun it became a very stressful experience. During the consultation I understood the new floor boards at the end of my hallway would be installed the same direction as the existing floor boards (see pictures). When I showed up after installation had begun the new boards at the end of the hall were going the opposite direction of the existing boards. When I called Ron Doran about it he explained the floor joists in that part of the house were going the opposite direction and the floor boards have to lay across the joists. I asked him if there was anything we could do and he said no, I asked if we could add boards between the joists to add support so that at least the last 6 feet of the hall could be the same direction of existing floor and he said no, so I asked if I could sign a waiver and he said no and then gave me an ultimatum, if I continued to ask him to do this then he would walk away from the job. (Mind you this was all during two phone conversation in about an hours time). Throughout this conversation he was impatient and ultimately raised his voice at me and got extremely defensive. It was incredibly unprofessional. He never informed me that the floor would be installed this way and if he didn’t know initially when he found out he should have let me know (we were in daily communication via text or phone through the whole installation). Once the job was complete we waited a week before moving into our new house and I did call him 5 days after the job was done to ask if we could use pine sol on the floor and he replied promptly which I appreciated. But then once we moved in and examined the floors we found multiple issues; there was floor stain spilled down our basement steps, three rings of spilled stain on the basement floor, a piece of baseboard molding missing in one bedroom, uneven sanding/staining on floors, and several gouges and holes that weren’t properly filled in. Overall I am not 100% satisfied with the work and I’m certainly not satisfied with the interactions I had with Don Doran. I was nothing but polite and respectful to him and I even helped him unload the oak wood planks when he arrived by himself to drop them off (I have a flight of stairs getting into the house), so I saw no reason why he was so impatient and rude to me when I had questions and concerns. I will not be working with this company in the future.

Wonderful! They were able to get me done at an earlier time because I needed to move in within 2 weeks. That was such a helpful and above and beyond customer service assist. The floors look amazing and I could not be happier with them! Thank you!

I chose Doran Hard Surfaces because of their excellent ratings on Angie's List and they did not disappoint! I decided to refresh the hard woods to sell my house. They were able to fit me in on a tight schedule and sanded and finished almost every room in my house. Excellent service from the time they quoted the work to the time they left. My floors are gorgeous and potential buyers were commenting on them.

After contacting multiple contractor Doran flooring was the only one to show up to his appointment, on time and present a quote before he left. Price was a little higher, but you pay for great service. The guys who actually refinished the flooring were polite, on time, and very professional. Any problems or questions we had were addressed immediately. Highly Recommend, our floors look amazing and very satisfied with our service.

Excellent! Work was done on date as promised. Very professional and personable. We were given several options as to what stain to use and he was very patient while we were deciding. Floors came out beautiful! We couldn't be more pleased. We get many compliments on them.

On day one, they thought they would be there at 7 but they contacted me to let me know that they would start a bit later. This was a good thing because our little gas fireplace needed to be moved and the plumber hadn't gotten there yet. The guys came in clearly identifiable uniform polo shirts (which honestly notched up the pro look) and introduce themselves. They set up and off to the races. They do a very good job of reducing the dust level. I would say that you cannot expect this process to be completely free of any fine particles so use some common sense and cover electronics with plastic. The young men worked truly hard and are experienced. I was surprised that the floors cleaned up so well. They got into every nook and cranny. After sanding, they puttied, buffed, stained and clear coated. I cannot overstate how much better the floors look or how impressed I was with the professional demeanor of the young men working in the house. Invoicing is incredibly easy--seriously, click click done. I am very happy.

Called and made appointment to meet at the home in March in Washington, PA. Made a point to inform him I was driving 3 hours for the meeting. They failed to show up or even call to reschedule.

We couldn't be more pleased with the work! The crew was professional and friendly. We didn't know what to expect as our living room and dining room were previously carpeted; but the results were amazing! It definitely exceeded our expectations. The family room floor was already hardwood so they buffed and recoated; looks great too!

Used Ron's team a little over a year ago to install new hardwood in a bedroom. They did an awesome job then so I called him without hesitation when I wanted my downstairs hardwood refinished. Ron honored the quote he gave back a year ago, even though he didn't have to. The floor looks great! The baseboard is just a little nicked here and there, but after reading many on-line discussions about refinishing hardwood, I expected that would be the case. Easy to touch up. Somewhere along the way, the crew busted the doorknob on my bathroom, and didn't have the courtesy to let us know. Looked like they may have accidently shut the bathroom door in the locked position with no-one actually inside the bathroom. Used something to pry it back open. The pictures attached show how great it looks. Picture 456 and 457 are "before" and the rest are "after."

Ron Doran and his employee who performed the work were very professional. All aspects or work went well, including the initial visit to discuss the work and provide the price quote, scheduling of the work, performance of the work and communications during the process. The refinished floors look great. They did what they said, when they said they would do it, at the price that we agreed on in advance.

I was extremely satisfied with the service and work beginning with the original quote through the completion of the job.

The good: They were responsive and available on short notice. He was respectable and punctual with communication. His crew was friendly. His estimate was clear and he was honest, I never felt uncomfortable with any of our interactions. The bad: Given the sheer number of A's from his other reviews, I expected the floors to look great. They turned out just okay. The work was a solid C, not excellent, not terrible. The floors we had were older so they had some challenges, but my opinion is not based on that. They consistently had trouble sealing the wood and getting the color consistent. There were very obvious blotches in numerous places throughout the house, and several spots stood out. You could see the lines where the applicator stopped and started again. The weird: They said that the house was causing it to dry too fast - but what surprised me was that they left the blotches there. I suppose with all of the A's I expected their experience level to be such that they'd be able to address the conditions they meet. I guess this house tested them. They also said they warranty their work so they offered to come in to repair the blotches. We started with one spot to see how the repair would go. After the repairs were done we weren't sure if it looked better or worse. The blotch went from being extremely lighter than normal to being darker than normal. When they were applying the seal to the new hardwood floors in our closets the consistency came out really poorly. The appearance was streaky. In conclusion: I expected better from them with all of their A's, but we received solid C results in the hardwood floors. Working with you was easy, I just wish the floors turned out better.

They moved furniture, removed the old flooring, and installed the new. They were excellent. I was very pleased.

'Doran Hard Surfaces' did an excellent job. They were on time, and easy to work with. The floors are approximately seventy years old and had never been re done during that time, they looked very dirty and tired. The floors have come up like new, Thank You Doran Hard Surfaces !!
