Vector Security - Warrendale

I have used Vector for 1.5 years first in downtown Pittsburgh and now my new home. Ben walked my home, gave me pointers on what we needed and would swap out, and gave me a rock solid price. George arrived a few days later and installed my new system. He worked efficiently to remove the old system, old fire alarms, and install all new sensors and alarms. He showed me how to operate the new system as it was an upgrade. Thoroughly satisfied and highly recommend

We have had Vector for several years and have had a great experience. Jim is the salesman we work with and he is always quick to return calls and just generally a great guy and easy to work with. We have 13 sensors of various types and separate key fobs for the house and garage. All of this is covered under the basic monitoring so we feel we are getting a great value. I especially like the water sensor we have by our 2nd floor washer so I can leave the house with the washer running and know I'll be alerted if it were to leak. Anytime we have had to have Jim or a tech come out, they are flexible and punctual. The monthly monitoring charge is money well spent for our peace of mind.

VERY WELL, VERY TIMELY

They have done pretty well. They charge according to the work they have to do. I already had an alarm system by them so what they charged is going to be less than somebody just getting in for the first time. I couldn’t tell exactly how much they charged because it was different. They were under a different company before and then they changed over so I have probably kept them for 25 years.

They are very prompt. They take care of things when I ask them to. They do a good job.

Had an antique security system and salesman was good about helping me redefine what was essential, especially important since we have an active and large dog and were not interested in bells and whistles. The installer was pleasant, prompt, efficient and clean. In retrospect, I wonder if I may have paid a bit much, especially since we were able to take advantage of some of the old hard-wiring (less labor involved), but I can't help but think I got what I paid for: no slimy handling of "the little woman", no pre-pay with the credit card over the phone before they even visit the site, and no promises of an estimate without receiving one online or through snail mail. Follow-up was good after the installation.

I just bought a house and wanted to alarm it. The price I was quoted by Vector was good, but the salesman gave me the creeps which makes me not want to work with them. He looked at every space in my house to assess my needs, but became squeemish when I went to show him the master bedroom and said he didn't need to look in there and something about my neighbors being very interested in me ( I think it was in reference to the towels I had taped over the large windows until I get curtains). While we went through the house he told me how easy it would be to punch through one of my solid hardwood doors and that even he could do it. Later when we were sitting down to go over my needs he said, "I couldn't help but notice how pretty you are," and then went on to recommend I get key chain alarm beepers. Also he said if things didn't workout with my boyfriend, that his son was single. That last statement probably wouldn't have creeped me out normally, but did because I was already uncomfortable. Needless to say I was relieved when my boyfriend did come home and the salesman left. I felt that overall this salesman was inappropriate, if it's not something he would have said to me in front of the man of the house than it's not something he should say at all.

Received estimate from them and scheduled install date. Installer upgraded me to a Hybrid system, my estimate was for a straight wireless, and wired the Fire, CO2, and Motion sensors. The installer seemed really good at wiring. The day after the system was installed I had to call customer service, one of my keypads wasn't working right. They fixed the problem over the phone while I was at work at it has worked perfectly since.

The salesman was nice. He explained to us our options. We chose to sign up for the monitoring system. They have been very responsive to any situations with alarms. I recommend this company.

We received a letter in the mail from Walt McKenzie from Vector after having purchased our home. The letter detailed a special offer for new homeowners. We called Walt at the number listed on the letter. He responded the same day and scheduled to come out the following week. When he came, he was very friendly and professional, though he has a sarcastic personality. He walked with us around the house, making recommendations about things we needed for security, as well as things we that we didn't need to spend money on. This last point was especially refreshing and impressive, as he was not the "pushy salesman" that we expected. Also, he shared a great deal of expertise about safety in general, and made recommendations about things we could do around the house to secure it, that did not involve an alarm system. Walt mentioned that he has trained neighborhood crime stopper programs. He brought samples of the available keypads, as well as extras such as key fobs. He also sounded the alarm, so that we would know how loud it was. He left without our committing to anything. After getting another estimate from another system, we felt Vector and Walt's expertise was superior, so we called back to purchase the system. He came back out to review the components we would be purchasing and to fill out paperwork. Two weeks later, a technician came out to install the system. This took about 4 hours. He went over the operation of the system and answered all questions before leaving.

Overall they provide a good service. The approximate cost listed is for service per month; it's a very good price for what you get. We will continue to use them for our security system.

So far we have set off the alarm 2 times by accident. Vector gives us a 7 day period to get used to the service. Thank God they do this, other wise we would have 2 false alarms. They were very understanding and even laughed with us on our mistakes. The cost of monitoring is $29.99 a mo.

I like them because the people they send are nice. Everything they installed is excellent and they have an electrical back up system. I have had them for many years; they changed their name two years ago. The only problem I've had with them was that I once had to ask them not to send a specific person to my house. I think he was a contractor because I was not happy with him.

THEY ALWAYS CALL WITHIN 15 SECONDS IF THE ALARM GOES OFF. THEY ARE COMPLETELY RELIABLE, AND THE ALARM HAS WORKED PERFECTLY.

THIS IS A SYSTEM THAT WAS INSTALLED BEFORE I MOVED IN ABOUT 8 YEARS AGO AND NEEDED SERVICE. THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS EXCELLENT. IN ADDITION TO FIXING THE PROBLEM HE CHECKED OUT THE WHOLE SYSTEM AT MY REQUEST AND MADE USEFUL SUGGESTIONS. I REALLY CAN'T COMMENT ON PRICE.

TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN THE FEATURES OF THE SYSTEM. TECHNICIANS ALSO RECOMMENDED CHANGES FROM ORIGINAL SALES ORDER THAT HE THOUGHT WOULD MAKE THE SYSTEM MORE FUNCTIONAL & RESPONSIVE.

THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN VERY THOROUGH AND RESPONSIVE. WE ARE QUICKLY ALERTED IF THEY NOTICE ANY DIFFICULTY WITH OUR TRANSMISSIONS.
