Things are moderately good with them. They were helpful with scheduling to come out. The challenge is scheduling an appointment for them to come out that works with my schedule.

We have had nothing but trouble with our system since it was installed. Each month we have to deal with customer service, then schedule a technician to come to our home because our system cannot connect with their office. This leads to continuous days of work missed, of course. Each time a technician visits our home, another problem arises. The tech who came out last week discovered our main smoke detector was not was not installed at all. We have had our system for four months at this point! At the tech's suggestion, we asked customer service for money back on our installation and monthly service fees. We were offered $13.63 to make up for not installing and monitoring the smoke/ fire system properly. I am certainly uncomfortable giving any more of my money to a company that is so disorganized and who values human life so very little. Insulting.

While their pricing is in-line with others, we do not recommend Guardian.
Description of Work: We will not use them as they will put you under a contract. We had used them in a prior house and at our business and they will not let you out of a contract.

It was a good deal and has been working fine. This system was built-in when the house was built. When I called about installing cameras and they were informative and let me know I would need to purchase the cameras myself but it would only increase my monthly bill by $5/month. The rates are competitive with other companies' rates. I feel like they were they best company to go with.

They have very personable customer service people and their availability for the installation was very good. I like working with them. It is a good idea to be home when they're installing the system so you can ask questions. There was a short wait when calling the non-emergency number with questions regarding the system. Their pricing is competitive with other companies.

I have their protection service at home so I use it all them time. Their service is good, and the system is better, I receive emails and I like it because I can use 5 different codes.

Contacted Guardian thru their website. I was contacted by Jeff who set up an appointment, reviewed our needs and then returned to install our system. He was very courteous and only sold us the system we needed. He did typically arrive 20-30 minutes late but always gave us a head's up that he was running late. We were able to easily get a hold of him by email and phone with questions.

I purchased my mother's Guardian system 5+ years ago and we pay yearly for monitoring. She's 81 yo and her battery in her motion sensor died so every 4 hours she gets an alarm at her keypad. She has to turn it off and can use the key fob to do it. It started Thursday going off every 4 hours. She called and they said don't try to replace it yourself, we'll come out and do it for you on MONDAY. She called 3 more times to get it to stop alarming, even change the volume but no technician over the phone was successful. They didn't even help her with the volume (tried but failed). It's loud. She go her appt. moved up to Saturday. The battery backup is not accessible and they stated we should not try to do it ourselves. In what business model is it okay to charge the customer $35/month and tell the customer that they are going to hear a loud alarm every 4 hours all night until they can come out? We are switching monitoring companies, this is crazy....
Description of Work: Change the motion sensor battery.

It now works after this service call. We have had 3 to 4 service calls since it was installed in May. The main control panel was replaced the third time out. They have agreed to cancel the monitoring service and wave the penalty due to all their failures, however I was stuck with the $1.200.00 I paid to install the system. They didn't want it back. The service techs are nice as can be and very professional. The service help on the phone is polite and helpful. However the first time there were 22 malfunctions in the house, they couldn't schedule a service call for 3 weeks. This fast local service is why we chose them, 3 weeks was a horrible response to a new failed system. We still have it and are waiting to see if it can go more than 2 weeks without failing. I don't mind the company, I just want to have confidence in the system, and we don't.
Description of Work: Make repairs to the same problems we have had since the day it was installed. They replaced a window sensor with an updated one the rest of the house should have had. We were getting malfunction notifications in the middle of the night. So they call you to tell you their system has failed again.

Matt Smith arrived on time, installed and activated our new security system and walked us through everything about it. He explained all services that they offer but did not pressure us at all to add anything. Because our internet was not yet connected, Matt had wrote detailed instructions for how to log into our account, change our options and set up our mobile apps on our phones. I would gladly recommend Matt and Guardian to anyone.

They are fantastic. There have been a few issues with the system but they are always very responsive and come out right away to take care of it. They also always make sure to thoroughly explain what caused the issues and they did not charge us to fix the issues. I would highly recommend them.

The salesman came out and described all the services and the types of equipment. They provide protection against fire, theft and medical emergencies. When we moved in all the equiptment was in place. One morning my wife got up ahead of me and opened the door without turning off the alarm. The security company can speak to us over speakers in our house. We were able to turn it off easily. That was an instance we were shown if we need help they were there.
Description of Work: We purchased a new home in July and we contacted them to service us for home security and pay them on a monthly basis.

I have a contract with them and they do a good job. They guys who come out here and everyone I speak to on the phone is professional. I live alone and it's very important to me to have the alarm. I have a CPap machine and if someone were to break in, I would still be able to hear the alarm. I like that I can secure the doors and windows during the day, and at night, I can secure the entire house. I also like that I can give the code to my brother or daughter and I can also get records of everything that goes on with the system including when I set the alarm and turned it off through my email. I also have a key fob to set the alarm if long distance. The only negative thing is that I received an email from them on Sunday, letting me know that they were going to debit my bank account on Monday, which doesn't give you enough time to do what you need to do with the bank. I also wish the response was faster and that they were cheaper.

We didn't receive a written manual for the system. The system was already installed when we purchased the house. We only know what the person who sold us the house could tell us about the system. I asked the company how I can change settings, and she couldn't provide an answer to my questions. I also don't know how to change the code. The service has been okay for general monitoring though.

One 4-hour set up was complete without problems. Service provider gave me a complete walk-thru. I have been very comfortable w the service. A system check is run every month.
Description of Work: Monthly cost plus $100 initial fee gives me fire and theft protection as well as health emergency response.

Guardian installed the equipment I removed from my old home. We had been with them for about 1 year and bought a new house, so we thought the old equipment would just follow us. Not the case. Their policy is to install all new equipment and then re-start my 3 year contract from the date of installation in my new house. I had to fight tooth and nail to tell them I didn't want to re-start a contract. They said that's fine, but that I would have to get the equipment from my old house and bring it to the new house so they could install it. I did remove all the equipment from our previous house and brought it to the new house for them to install. They finally agreed and charged $200 to install the equipment from our old house. That fee I believe is their standard policy. They also charge $25 to come out to fix anything wrong, even if it was their fault during installation. I would say the general monitoring service is ok, but all the ancillary charges and contracts I am not happy with. That's obviously how they make money is off locked-in guaranteed contracts. I plan on going with the Simpli Safe DIY alarm system when my contract ends in 1 year.

Operation of the system has not yet been well explained. The contacts and sensors were installed 3 weeks ago, but the cameras still have not arrived. So, that means missing two days of work to have the entire system involved, instead of one day of work. Also, they do not have a good solution for external cameras with streaming (for an application such as your driveway or behind your house). The panel itself is very nice. Also, true to their word, my 27 pound cat does not set off the sensor during the day when we are not home. So far so good, but I think it is too soon to tell how this will all work out.
Description of Work: Installed contacts, sensors and (hopefully) cameras. Punctuality rating is related to the hardware, not the employees.

We have a 5 year contract with Guardian. We are in year 3, and one of the door alarm batteries died and the alarm kept going off. I called the first time and they gave me the information I needed to purchase a new battery. I called the second time to ask them for directions on how to remove the old battery from the casing. They were very helpful. I received a third call from them telling me the alarm was still not working, even though I had done everything they told me to do. I had to speak with yet another person for them to tell me their signals got crossed and that they called me even though everything was ok. Every time I have called, they have been very professional. My only complaint would be their equipment. When the weather is very cold, the door alarm in our basement seems to malfunction, and when the power goes out, what a nightmare. Our alarm has gone off many times, and not once because of an actual emergency, just equipment malfunction or it being 'reset' because of power outages (it will continue to alarm for 24-48 hours). Will give them kudos, they are very responsive and calm, even when I'm not the nicest person because the alarm has malfunctioned at 4am. Wish they gave an instruction manual during the initial install, instead of a verbal explanation by the installation engineer.

have had guardian for at least 12 years.. Their product and service is great. When you call guardian with a question or problem, a real person answers and directs you to the person that does help you at any time day or night.. What you should know is that guardian is the only protection company that I am aware of that has their own people to install and monitor their service.. The only down side that I can say is that any replacement parts are a little pricey and so is the service visit.. However in my case they have walked me through the part rreplacement process over the phone.
