From what I could find online, I am not the only one upset about the business practices and level of integrity in regards to the contract. I "signed" the contract during a phone call, and was 'guided' through an online document. It is pages long in smaller than 6 font (times new roman has about 93 lines per page in 6 font which is tiny, my contract is 98 lines per page). If you are over 40 it is hardly legible. When you e-initial, the contract scrolls ahead to the next spot to sign so you really can't read it leasurely. Meanwhile, the phone sales person is paraphrasing the terms. In my case (and others per my internet search) they were not accurately portraying what I was signing. I was looking at a local relocation in the near future and expressed that to my rep. at the time and was told by either the phone person or the guy that came to the house to assess the install that relocating was free for the first year. When I went to move, I was told that wasn't right and they wanted to charge hundreds of dollars (I think close to $1000.00) to move me a few miles. My contract indicates "the initial term changed to 58 months". What??? Alarm system monitoring is like cable. It is competitive and becoming even more-so. Why would I, or anyone, sign for 5 years? When I complained publically about being charged to move when I was promised it was free (remember, they were still getting my monthly dues) someone called me and promised to make good since the terms were misrepresented. He emphatically promised to personally monitor the move every step of the way, and make good on what I was verbally told. I suspect at that time he redid the terms! Despite his promise, the day of my new install/move the technician couldn't reach him to trouble shoot some problems and told me that was typical. They subcontract installs-(for the record, the installers I have had, and the technicians than have come to fix inoperable parts have been great-and honest!). BEWARE! I saw others complain about this online and indeed this is true. In the small print (it is ALL SMALL PRINT mind you) of the contract, it says it will auto-renew for 5 years unless they are notified in writing 30 days before the initial term ends. From what I have seen posted, you can find yourself bound to a new 5 year contract you can't cancel out of if you don't keep a close eye on your termination date and write in accordingly 30 days or more prior. Not only is the term 5 years, but you can't make changes to it without having to restart your contract terms. If you do or don't need the cell phone option, want to add something like video monitoring etc., you have to start over I believe- same case with a move (if you move to a residence with an existing alarm system, you are out of luck). Buying out the term? Full price- in my case $50.00 per month for the remainder of 5 years. I am sending my DO NOT RENEW letter well in advance and demanding confirmation that it was received. I also am asking for an explaination as to the "term changed to 58 months" addition to the contract. My recommendation is to shop around. Get any alarm contract in physical form and READ it before agreeing to doing business. Don't rely on what you are told verbally. For something like an alarm service, contracts should be simple and straight forward. If they are overly lengthy, conveluted, not provided in person, and overly extensive/restrictive, run! More and more companies are providing alarm monitoring services at competitive prices with favorable terms. I do see they have a good BBB rating. That confounds me. In doing my own (post-agreement) research, there are plenty of other people who, like me, are unhappy with the contract and business practices more-so than the actual product being sold.

Install was complete during construction. Service was set up and training completed after closing on home. Process was simple, set up was quick. System is easy to use and technician was on time.

Bobby was on time, very professional and courteous. He was very patient with as he explained why he recommended more smoke alarms and how he would need to hardwire heat detectors. I really appreciate that he took his time making sure that the alarm was installed correctly and worked correctly.

For the install the tech was on tie and activated our system. He explained all the details and how to work it. He was able to add a last minute change which did not require any wait time.

Technician called to verify appt & approval. Came promptly and installed system, reviewed operation with me.

Sales person was helpful and answered questions - no high pressure up-sales. Bob came to provide an estimate the day we inquired. The install team was early and took the amount of time they indicated. They walked through what they would be doing and reviewed the equipment with us. They back checked their work.

Great. It is an additional $50 per renewal.
