They provided flawless service. I don’t get false alarms like I did with ADT. I also have an alarm medallion for when I am alone and I get hurt. They can also contact me through a speaker system they installed throughout the house.

GREAT!!!! EXCELLENT SERVICE!!! The techinical installation of the equipment was very well done. I am stickler for professional installation with minimal disturbance to our existing wiring. I am extremely with the install. Also, there is a free mobile app that Steve recommended we get. It arms and disarms the system from our smartphones. Great App!!! Overall, I cannot say enough about our experience with Guardian thus far. I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation!!!
Description of Work: We were at the end of our 3 year contract with the original home security company that was contracted with our home. We shopped around for different upgraded packages that competing home security companies had available in our area. Guardian Protection Services was "hands down" the most competitive for overall pricing, upgrades, and customer service options. Our guardian security representative, Steve, came to our home evaluated our current system and recommended a service plan that fit our needs. He was very professional with a mind on effective pricing and overall security package. We are very, very happy with the results thus far.

We have been with Guardian Protection Services for over 3 years and are very pleased with the service, communication and overall company. We used them in our first family home and had such a great experience with the company we chose to use them when we purchased a new home this past year! They have always been very prompt and professional. We had great experiences with the installer, he did the job in a timely manner, always answered any questions we had and did a great job. Any time we test our system they call us right away, which is very impressive. We would definitely recommend Guardian Protection Services! You can not put a price on safety and that is exactly what they have done for us!

Guardian upgraded my system 5 years ago. I remember the installers arriving when they said they would, and knowing exactly was needed to be done. While I have never had a break in, a fire started in my attic three years ago, and with in minutes they called my wife at work and let her know the Fire Dept. had been dispatched. By the time I got home 40 minutes later the fire was out and we suffered mainly smoke damage. I am checking them out on Angies List because we are considering up grading again, and forcing ourselves into the next generation of services they now provide with being able to completely control our system through the internet, either on our smart phones or computers.

Great on punctuality and providing all we needed to make an informed and educated decision. Extremely professional and did not try to "push" us into something. We'll refer them to our friends and will use them to replace the alarm system in our rental property. Although the system has not been installed yet, we are sure that we will pleased with the final results.

Professional installation and sales staff. We obtained a great deal through Angie's List and the sales person didn't push any extras on us. He was understanding due to the sensitive matter of a break-in and was able to answer all our questions immediately. The installer helped us determined best location and it looks wonderful.

I am opening a new business and have been dealing with numerous contractors. Needless to say this hasn't always gone smoothly. I acquired a business suite with an existing alarm system. I called Guardian based on a friends recommendation and pleased that I did. The Guardian rep did a walk through of my site and offered a simple affordable solution. He was able to use all my existing equipment but only replace the keypad and brains of the system to give me the latest technology. I can work my system from an app on my phone. This has been a huge help, saving me time driving cross town to let workers in my site. When I got the system updated the salesman showed up and walked his technician through my site. The work was done in a few hours and the technician took his time to demonstrate the system to me and even helped me set up the on-line access. My sales rep called me twice in the first week to check on me. We have tripped the alarm by accident and Guardian has been quick to call and confirm the alarm. I am very happy with the company protecting my business.

Description of Work: I have never had such a pleasant experience with a salesman or company in my life. We shopped around and talked to many other companies as well as Guardian. Every other sales associate from companies other than Guardian just came into our home and did not care about what we needed. They simply just slapped us with a price. The Guardian sales associate came in and took the time to ask us questions and show us multiple different ways we can protect our home. He also gave us a demonstration on how our system works and we could actually play with it before we bought it. We understand that sometimes they are a couple bucks more than their competitors but in this day and age you really do pay for what you get. Plus I love the fact that this is a local company with a national footprint. Also all of my calls are going directly to Cranberry Twp. PA. I don't have to worry about someone from Bangladesh answering my calls if I have a question. Their customer service department is a joy to work with and someone answers the phone in less than a minute with answers and can speak English. I highly reccomend everyone to let them come out and give you a free estimate. I promise you will not be disappointed.

This is the first time I was told by a company that I could not use the Angie's coupon. For this reason I would not recommend this company. The coupon should have an apartment exception on it. Waiting until the appointment in the apartment to tell me that I had to pay double is dishonest. When I scheduled the appointment I told them I had found the company on Angie's list and had the $99.00 coupon. UPDATE: In May I was contacted by Paul Lubin , Sales Manager for Guardian Protection Services. I met with him on my lunch hour. He listened to my concerns and explained the company coupon. To make things right he refunded the full amount of $200.00 for installation plus credited my daughter's account for 3 months of free monitoring. I was very impressed with this company. They are very concerned with the customer experience. To make the call, set up a time to meet and resolve the complaint is "above and beyond" what other companies would have done. I found Paul to be very informed, focused and dedicated to providing the very best in products and service. I changed my Grade to A , and I will use them again.
Description of Work: My daughter was moving into her first apartment. I reviewed Angie's list for a wireless security company. Guardian had a $99.00 Angie's coupon. David Maitz , the Guardian consultant, was great. Very informed, professional, and helpful. One big problem was the Angie's coupon. He would not honor it. I (a homeowner) was paying the bill to install the wireless system and the monthly fee of $39.95. I signed the contract. He said because it was an apartment with a 24 month lease and the Guardian contract was for 36 months the company would not honor the Angie's list coupon. Due to the timing of the move and my work schedule I did not have time to reschedule with another company. I had to pay $200 instead of the Angie's list $99.00. I feel this is unfair . It is a wireless system that my daughter can take with her if she did move to another apartment.

I am extremely pleased with Guardian Protection Services. The saying is true, "you get what you pay for." I was willing to pay more money upfront for additional equipment that was important based on my needs and lifestyle. Don't be fooled by $99 incentive offers because the most important factor in choosing a security company is the monitoring center.
Description of Work: I relocated from Northern, NJ to a home in Bucks County, PA. It had an existing hardwired system installed by Slomins. Shortly after moving into my new residence, I received a new homeowner letter from Guardian and after some research, I decided to call them for a consultation. I had ADT at my home in Northern, NJ but I decided to shop around before choosing to use them again. I always thought ADT was the premier provider in security services but I now realize that "bigger" does not always mean better. The security consultant, Maria from Guardian was very professional, knowledgeable and not pushy. She showed me a brief presentation about the company and their products. We then did a walk-through of my home and she made some suggestions for additional coverage which included window sensors on the lower level. The home already had monitored smoke detectors on all four floors which I wanted to keep since I have pets and I work long hours. She also explained the advantages of the digital cell protection over having a regular phone line. This was something new to me. At the same time with the digital cell protection, I have the ability to arm and disarm the system from my smart phone. I rarely make a decision immediately. However, I was very comfortable with everything that was explained to me and especially impressed with the many certifications received by Guardian's monitoring center. When doing my research, I learned that some security companies have third party monitoring. Additionally, while some had UL certification, very few companies had the 5 Diamond certification that Guardian has earned. The monthly monitoring rate at $44.95 was less than I was paying at ADT and I have more services with Guardian including the digital cell protection, interactive features and two-way voice link. I was an ADT customer for about 15 years and after my initial contract was up, my rates went up almost yearly. The installation went very smoothly with the technician taking his time to explain in detail how the key pad operates and he helped me set up my website for the interactive services. The few times that I called customer service, I had a positive experience with their prompt response and helpfulness. Finally, the most important factor in having Guardian as my security company is the response time of less than 1 minute. I tested this on two occasions to be sure that the call came in quickly. My phone rang in about 30 seconds in both cases. I was very impressed. I have learned from friends who indicated problems with receiving verification calls from their security companies in a timely manner. In some instances, the call coming in 10 to 15 minutes after the alarm was set off. More disturbing is my coworker whose security company never called her when her brother accidently set off the alarm upon entering her home.

We have had their protection service for many years, and have not had complaints except when my wife lost the remote control device and thought mistakenly it was covered under our contract. We sold our house recently and wrote them to discontinue the service. They were not able to contact us on the phone and kept on sending us bills, even after I telephoned them. I guess they were anxious to sell the protection service to the new owner, and to our new house. As I ignored their bills, they even threatened me with collection notices. It was finally resolved after I telephoned them again, but the processs we went through was irritating.

monitoring costs kept going up each year.
Description of Work: We used their services for years after they bought the monitoring system we had. Prices kept going up and the system was not responding which we were unaware so we paid for monitoring which was not occurring. They wanted to send someone out to check out the system but would charge us for that. Also they charge after you cancel. Just not who we would want to do business with.

The sales call went very well, i had a rep named Dewey that came out and explained everything to us. We also had interviewed other companies, i felt that Dewey was knowledgable and was not pressuring us to make a decision. He made sure that he went over all of the different options that we could have to protect our home. We went with Guardian because we felt that it was the best value, we had some companies that were way more cost, and some that were just below Guardian. The installation was set up for the following Monday, the installer ,Tim, came out on time, was dressed professionally, and it took three hours to install, which is what i was told prior to the installation, and he did a wonderful job explaining to us how to use the system, and to set up our computer and cell phones to be able to use the system remotely. We feel alot more comfortable with the alarm installed by Guardian, and would defeinetely refer our friends and family, and Angies members to Guardian Protection Services. Chris

When I have experienced alarm troubles due to the weather or had false alarms they have been incredibly polite, professional and prompt. They have been able to help me over the phone as well. I had to contact the billing department before and again met with polite profession and prompt responses. Very pleased with the level of service I have received.

My overall experience was great. I will be letting all my family and friends know what great customer service and overall service Guardian has to offer.
Description of Work: Our home was built in 1997 and we decided to change from our current provider to Guardian. When the Sales Representative came to out to our home she was very professional and knew the product. We sat with the rep and asked several questions about how the system would work. She took the time to explain everything including the term of the contract, which most companies do not. The installation went great and the technician again showed us how the new system worked. He even let my son arm and disarm the system so he would be able to do it as well. Thank you Guardian I feel more safe than before!!!!!

After I mentioned Angie's List, they were willing to work out a deal with us. We still had to pay out a sum of money to get out of the contract, but we were able to get out of it.
Description of Work: BEWARE!!! Guardian will not let you out of your contact for any reason!!! Be careful when you sign a contract with them. About a year ago, we decided to switch to them after having tech issues with our previous alarm company. Everything sounded great at the time and we signed a 3 year contract and for the most part, the sailing was smooth. We were not planning to move when we signed the contract and now, we have sold our home and will be in temporary housing for the next 9 - 12 months while a new home is being built. We called Guardian to term our contract and discontinue service and they told us there is no early termination option! We are on the hook to pay out the rest of the contract (25 months x $39.95 = $998.75) They have no early penalty fee or anything other than you having to go in default (which would hurt your credit rating) Their only suggestion was that we should try to get our buyers to assume the contract - no way!!! I wouldn't want to hook anyone else up with this shady company. They've been in business since the 50's because they are taking advantage of their customers. Will I ever use them again? No! Will I ever recommend them? No! In fact, I will make sure to warn as many people as I can to beware of them and their business practices. I don't think what they are doing is right.

After my initial contact with Guardian they offered to send the tech out to replace my panel a second time. Again, he brought the same panel that was on my wall. Again, I had to contact Guardian to have a discussion. They apologized and ordered another panel. I set up an appointment for the tech to come out. Guardian called to advise the new panel was not in. I rescheduled and the technician came out confused and brought again the same exact panel. I sent him away as I was not getting the agreed upon panel. As I was working on my system I found out that the technician disconnected off the two-way communication between me and the monitoring central services center. This decreased their ability to hear into my home in the event of an intruder. Today as of 03.25.13 I am still with Guardian Protection Services with a system that was not agreed upon or desired. I would not recommend them to anyone primarily due to their professionalism and lack of attention to detail.
Description of Work: I contacted Guardian Protection Services to increase the level of security on my home security system. During my interaction I was advised that I was eligible for a panel upgrade which was suppose to be a touch screen and access to their online interactive services. The technician came out to install the new equipment and brought with him the same panel I currently have on my wall. Since I travel I had to have a friend watch my house and meet with the technician the gentelman was very unprofessional and unaware of anything that was going on. I contacted Guardian Protection Services and had to be escalated from one supervisor to their version of a manager. This went on for several contacts for several months. Guardian stated that the panel upgrade was not the touch screen and that they were not obligated to honor it. I find that their service is decent; however, their customer service and commitments is very lacking. I took very good notes from my interaction with the original rep and gave very specific information. Guardian stated they listened to the interaction and there was not a discussion of a panel being brought up in the call. I wonder how that is so when I wrote down the questions and the answers from the representative. Guardian decided their way to resolve this issue was to tell me I should look for another provider to protect my home. Well since there are very few companies out there that offer wireless monitoring without having to switch other companies I am with for my Internet I am stuck with them and just never call them. I can only hope that if something happens they will honor their other original agreements which is to call me in the event of an emergency and the payment of my deductible. However, I am sure they won't.

We found another highly respected company that was very willing to work with us through online correspondence and we bought equipment from them and signed a new contract. Then we called Guardian asking to pay the balance of what was due on our contract so we could end our contract with them without having the monthly payments. They refused. For several months we paid for both systems. Then one day they called us wanting again to "test" this now unused security system, and I told them why testing was unnecessary - and that all we wanted was to pay the balance and be done with it. They agreed this time, sent us a final statement, we mailed them the payment. Then we started getting letters in the mail saying our account was overdue - then 2 months overdue. Fearing this would turn into a collections issue, my husband sent them another check - which overpaid the account. That was a couple of months ago. Their system shows our account has been closed, but they've never refunded this overpayment back to us.
Description of Work: The service date and $ spent fields on this review form are really not applicable. We had a contract with Guardian Protection Service long before we ever had an Angie's List account. We paid them regularly for services identified in a contract that renewed automatically each time it came to the end of a contract period. Guardian only ever contacted us when they wanted to test the system - always during the day when I could not accomodate them - and they always said they would call back when I gave them a more convenient time. They never did though. The terms of the contract are/were unreasonable and (in our opinion) should have been illegal. Essentially, they had a contract on this house and even if we sold the house they had the right to charge us or the new owners for the duration of their contract. It was not an annual contract - it renewed every 23 or 38 months or some odd thing like that. They never contacted us as the contract came up for renewal either, nor was it stated on the billing statements making it clear when our contract would renew. At one point we sent a message to them electronically asking for information to be sent to us about upgrading the system to something newer (better - like wireless). They called our house, which we specifically asked them not to do in the original message, and then claimed we could only get info on other products/services if we scheduled a face-to-face with a sales rep.

A sales representative was working in my neighborhood. He stopped by and presented me with an equipment promotion. This included the newest touchscreen, cellular keypad, motion sensors, glass break sensor, and monitored smoke alarm. This system incorporated all of my prewired doors and windows. I had always been leary about working with a "door to door" salesman, but this gentleman was extremely professional, asked lots of questions about my needs, and wasn't pushy. I really liked him. We set up a time the following Saturday for him to return and present his proposal with my husband included. We checked into Guardian in the meantime. One of my work friends uses them and said she has never had any issues with the company and that their customer service has been prompt and courteous when needed. We chose to go with their interactive plan using alarm.com so we could view and access our system remotely with our smart phones. The installation was scheduled for the following Monday evening.
