Considering these individuals were using false credentials to gain my trust, it went poorly. I had an effective visual system for hearing impaired that I could see when it was set. The men took my sytem with them and I was left with a system that didn't even work visually, garage door wouldn't work, nor did fire/smoke detectors. Nor did they respond to my phone calls. Unbeknownst to me, the phone screen they gave me to sign was with Guadian for a 5 year contract valued at $2,200. What a nightmare to unravel since it involved two companies - Protection Source in Arizona and Guardian Protection Services. I canceled the contract with the address I had with a certified return receipt overnight letter. Protection Source agreed to cancel the unit effective 10-1-2013 with me not owing any money due to fraud by Niccolus Smith in a contract the company bought from him. Apparently they had 26 other customers Mr. Smith conned that they had to cancel. Mr. Smith was terminated as a sales associate after two weeks due to fraudulent activites along with the Protection Services sales manager who hired him. Well the customer service supervisor I started working with was terminated or left during the process and I had to start over with a second customer service supervisor like it was a completely new case. In the mean time, my checking account was being debited for double billings at times by Guardian. I had several fairly rude billing phone conversations (rude on the part of the Guarding billing reps) with Guardian during this time frame. It took until 11-11-2013 for Protection Source to completely cancel this contract and give me a letter in writing that the contract was cancelled with no money owed before I would give them their equipment back. BUT they didn't do as they told me they would - which was to cancel everything including Guardian Protection Services. I have been dealing with getting rid of the charges to my account from this entity since 11-11-13. I finally got a Guardian Protection Services customer service manager on 12-9-13 to agree to terminate the contract on their end due to the fraud from the sales representative from Protection Sources and make me whole on all the charges and penalties. It is pretty sad that these companies tell you one thing, but do not follow through until it is convenient for them and you have to call 20 or 30 times. Most people would just give up, but I was furious for being lied to. Through all of this, I still didn't have a sytem to use. I had to get Monitronics to come put in a new system which caused me to start over with another contract term to cover the cost of the equipment they had to replace (I had been month to month for 8 years). Monitronics sent a representative over who looked at what needed to be replaced - everything since my equipment was stolen - and what my needs were - needed to be visual. It was no problem once the correct equipment was received to have my system installed in 2 hours and fully functional visually with one device to control the alarm and the garage door. I can feel safe again. Monitronics added the wireless feature and a safety alert necklace if I should get ill.
Description of Work: The providers representative contacted me as representatives of my provider, Monitronics, who I had been with for 10 years. The gentlemen that came to my home had all Monitronics badges and credentials. They planned on upgrading my equipment to wireless for my safety.

they started up alarm system for us and showed us how to operate it since we never had one before in our previous home. The rep from this company was very professional and had a ton of patience explaining every aspect of the system to us. The company also followed up via phone to see if everything was satisfactory. They even gave us three months free service fee. The only thing I thought was a bit expensive was the charge for a remote key which other companies usually throw in free of charge.

WHEN CHOOSING THE SYSTEM, THEIR PLANNING WAS BASED ON A MODEL AND NOT MY ACTUAL HOUSE DRAWINGS; SO ALL THE EXTRA WINDOWS WERE NEVER TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION. THE TECHINICIANS WHO CAME TO INSTALL THE SENSORS WEREN'T AWARE WHICH WINDOWS HE IS SUPPOSED TO DO. ANOTHER TECHNICIAN TOOK 3.5 HOURS TO ACTIVATE THE SYSTEM AND STILL 2 CRITICAL WINDOWS WERE NON-OPERATIONAL. NEXT DAY, ANOTHER TECHNICIAN CAME IN AND THEIR BOSS TRIED TO CONVINCE ME IT WAS THE 1ST TECHNICIAN'S FAULT. BOTH SAID THE TRANSMITTER SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLACED ABOVE GROUND, AMONG OTHER CLEAR SIGNS ALL WIRING WERE FAULTY. THE MOTION SENSOR IN THE BASEMENT WAS SET-OFF BY A FAN! OVERALL, CHEAP MATERIAL AND VERY POOR QUALITY SECURITY SYSTEM

I'm not sure I can give them an overall rating yet or whether I would recommend them but I will give you the +/-: | |First I bought more equipment than needed and I was suppose to get a refund for the extra equipment, around a $1000. I have yet to receive the check even though they deducted the full amount from my bank account the day we signed the contract. I have called several times and have never once gotten a call back. I also don't know what I'm supposed to pay monthly yet since we didn't install all the equipment. I haven't heard boo from them. So the responsiveness from customer service has been very poor. I expect we will wind up in small claims court or something similar. | |Security Equipment: I would say an A. It's very good equipment and easy to use. | |Security Installers: I would give the installers an A, particularly Roger. They were punctual, professional, were respectful of property etc. | |I think the quality of the equipment and the installers is excellent. | |I think the home office is very responsive when they take your money, no so much when they owe you money. Again I don't know even how much I will pay now or if they plan to send a bill. I haven't heard from Guardian since the installation. | |So until its resolved not want to say I want recommend them or continue to use them. Rated a C because I couldn't submit otherwise. | |Thanks for asking. | |Regards, | |Larry Norton | | | | I did finally get several calls and a couple of e-mails from the sales person who originally sold me the security system. He agreed that they owed me the money, and agreed to return it, if I would sign more paperwork. So to get my own money back they want me to sign more paperwork. After about another month, I decided that Guardian Protection Services wasn't a trust worthy organization. Certainly not an organization that I could trust to protect my family and home. They didn't deal in "good faith"; they make d*** sure they get your money, in fact, the sales person reads the bank routing number and account number to there credit department over the phone while you're sitting there, your money is withdrawn from your account the next day. If they have your money, it may be 6 months or never---that's a fact. With Guardian Protection Services, you sign a 3 year contract which isn't unusual. The contract has a $750 penalty for an early termination. I e-mailed the sales person and told him to just keep the money they owed me and use it to pay off the early termination fee and to close out my account. Ultimately, you essentially lose the entire equipment value for the system because all of the wireless equipment is coded and they have the codes which prevents another supplier from reusing the same equipment. So unless you have the coding you start over, about $4000 in this instance. I was aware of the penalty when I decided to terminate the contract early, but when you don't trust someone to protect something as important as your family and a $1 million plus home the money isn't important. I actually don't blame Guardian Protection Services, I blame myself. I didn't do my usual due diligence on the company before hand. I have found that there are a number of reputable home security organizations in Austin. In fact, there are enough reputable home security suppliers in Austin that you don't need to take a chance with Guardian protection Services. But if you are compelled to do so, I have some new equipment you can have. One of the reasons I selected Guardian Protection Services was because it was "A-rated on Angie's list." It's trumpeted right on their website. So I must be the one bad egg and everyone else rated Guardian Protection Services an A+++. I used to manage 15 paper mills, 5 sheeting operations, with over 20,000 employees and I don't ever recall one F and everyone else A's on any endeavor. Guardian Protection Services is a sales organization (a poor one at that), not a home security organization----it's abundantly clear in their behaviors.

On November 19, 2013,our alarm system started beeping at 4 a.m. with a low battery signal and continued to go off about every 30 mins., then eventually every minute. We called and were told how to silence the alarm which worked briefly. More phone calls to schedule a technician and were told they could be here sometime in the next week. Meanwhile, they said we could disarm the system. Really? So much for securing our home. After I threatened to terminate the service, miraculously they were able to schedule a tech to come out that day, He did come out, tested the system, replaced the battery and said all was fine. Blamed the low battery for the Florida sun beating on the sliding door. Alrighty then. Today, not even a month later, December 6, 2013, same thing happened again. The beeping started 4 a.m. with a low battery signal from the same sensor. Same thing, every 30 mins, then every minute. I called and they said they could send some out on DECEMBER 19th. Seriously? Again I threatened terminating service.(We previously used ADT in another state and had no problem, ever. However when moving to Florida, this company was recommended to us by the builder so we went with them. Big mistake. ) The service rep said he would call me back to let me know the scheduled time for today or it may even have to be first thing in the morning. He never called back. I call again because of not hearing from him, my nerves are frazzled from sleep deprivation from with the beeping going off every minute. Was told to unplug system, we did, beeping started again, was told it needs to power down and then it will stop. A tech will come first thing Saturday morning to take a look. Was told they don't normally work on Saturdays but this tech is taking time out to come correct a problem that was never fixed in the first place. Gee, thanks a heap, like he is doing us a favor? They said they would credit us a for the first service call and give us a month free. I would gladly terminate them but was told it would cost us $1600+ to do so according to the contract. In other works, they got us. UPDATE: Paul from the service department did perform excellent service for us finally. He was very knowledgeable and was able to upgrade our sensor so hopefully this will fix the problem. This update only commends the services of Paul, not the attitude of customer service reps in Pittsburgh. We still will not renew our contract with them in the future. After the experience with the initial reps, they have lost all credibility with us.

They were recommend by the builder. One technician came out to do the work and he was there for about an hour. Scheduling went fine and they were able to accommodate to me and come out on a Saturday. We haven't had any issues with the system but I think the prices are a little high for what we are getting.

My experience was fine. They were timely and they did a good job of scoping out the project. Scheduling went well and was straight forward. Two workers came out to do the work and it took about 3-4 hours to complete. They followed up well to make sure I was satisfied with their work.

My experience was fine. Scheduling went well and they was one time I needed to call someone in to do some adjustments and they were very responsive. There was one technician that came out and it took a few hours to complete everything. There are a few times I have left my doors open and they called my daughter right away to notify her. Also another time I had set my alarm and opened the back door and left without disarming it, and I was a few hundred yards from my house and my daughter was already notified. The police were already on their way so the response was very quick. I am very satisfied with their service.
Description of Work: I had purchased a big deal for $299 for Home Alarm Protection Services. I ended up paying more than I anticipated since I got a complete home service which includes glass break, motion detectors, and a pendant I can wear outside.

I need to put this out there so here we go. I ordered an alarm system thru alarm.com who partners with companies in your local area. One of the companies they recommended, guardian protection services came to install my system over a month ago & it is still not working! They have NEVER called me after I have filed numerous complaints. My alarm system is still not working & after getting alarm.com involved their solution was they could send someone 3 weeks from now & offer me a rebate of $45. Nice customer service! DO NOT USE GUARDIAN PROTECTION SERVICES, they are inept & have no idea what customer service is! If I was alarm.com, I would not recommend them EVER!

I went with them because they give you nine sensors plus two key bobs so I was able to put sensors on all of my doors and most of my downstairs windows. The other companies I looked at made you pay extra for additional sensors. In my front room they installed a glass breaking sensor which will trigger the alarm is someone were to break the glass. I like that with their system I am getting almost complete coverage. I also like that I can monitor the system from my phone, it will send me alerts when the system is on and off. I can even turn the system on and off from my phone. The service so far has been great!
Description of Work: I had an alarm system installed. I had to put $100 down for the installation and then I pay a monthly fee.

Installers were knowledgeable, and efficient. They suggested several changes/upgrades that made our system much more effective and user friendly. They utilized several micro switches left over from our previous security system. The overall cost of the new system was much lower than expected.
Description of Work: Provider provided and installed new security alarm system in our home.

Started out great i was so happy with everything... 0.00 down no fee for equipment ect great sales pitch! Everything was installed they showed me how to use the system did test after test, we were really happy. Then they left, 10 mins later my bank called me and said Guardian Protection was withdrawing money out of my account multiple time and they wanted to make sure it was ok. I was shocked! Called Guardian talked to a really nice girl she said they would have it fixed, later that night another call this one saying they dont see the multiple charges in their system and there was no way to fix it. I am mad at this point. They told me that it would be up to my bank to fix it, and they did because my bank is awesome. So got that fixed but that was just the start to more issues. About 2 weeks later I came home ( with my alarm set ) the equipment that the installer placed above my china cabinet fell off the wall and shattered on the floor, I then noticed that there was damage to my furniture. I called and the guy I spoke to I have all his info told me that I can not end my contract and he was sorry about my person property but to get out of my contract to hire a lawyer. Now I am beyond mad! Takes them weeks to come out to replace the broken equipment ( awesome paying for service when the service doesnt work, but dont ask for a refund.) When he installer was here I tried to talk to him about my furniture he would not even say a word about it. The man that come out with him I guess a manager said oh these need to be drilled into the wall to the attached it to the middle of my ceiling and left. A week after that we are sitting in the living room and all the sudden the motion sensor falls off the wall ARE YOU KIDDING ME! So this is in March, it is not Oct and I dont even think my motions sensor works because no one has bothered to come out and check it. So that leads up to today when I was AGAIN charged multiple times and was told well we can leave it as a credit to your account or we can refund you but it will take 10 + days. I said well refund me and then I was told I would have to call my bank to have them fix the mistake...this is not my job or my banks job!! You made the mistake so fix it! I again went over all my issues with the "customer service" rep and said I really just want to end this service. He said well I can forward you a copy of you contract ( i thought was a year ) it shows that you are responsible for payment for 3 years. WHAT!!! So he told me I would have to pay out the 28 months of service or get a lawyer to end my service. This has been hands down the worst service I have ever had! I am not one to write bad reviews but I would never wish this company on anyone. THEY ARE THE WORST! I would rather pay double and get better customer service then deal with them another day.

Over charges all the time, their equipment fell off the wall damaging my person property, horrible customer service, will not help you, talk down to you, the end result is you have to pay the remaining 28 months or hire a lawyer to stop service that I thought was a year but is 3 years!
