Once we decided to move forward, we had to wait about five months due to Steve's backlog. It was 100% worth the wait! We are beyond thrilled with the results that Steve and his assistant, Chris, produced. Steve has many years of experience, and his knowledge and expertise shine through in the work he delivers. In addition to eliminating the "crumb-catcher" bevels, Steve was able to eliminate the transition pieces that used to separate the wood and carpet. He wove the new and old flooring together so it ALL looks original to the home. Truly... we just can't believe the beauty of our floors. After we described our desired "look and feel," Steve was able to offer two solid options for the stain. He prepared two swatches that we were able to consider over a weekend. We ended up going with a blend -- three parts Early American and one part Medium Brown -- and it is absolutely the result we had been envisioning. On top of the quality of the work itself, we have to give Steve and Chris kudos for being responsive, reliable and hard working. We would absolutely recommend!
Description of Work: Our house was built in 1999, and by 2016, we were ready to remove the original carpet and update the original hardwood on our first floor. As background, our original hardwood was Bruce "Butterscotch" with bevels. We considered installing all-new, factory-finished hardwood from Avalon Flooring. On the advice of another vendor, we reached out to Steve Osimo to find out about refinishing the existing hardwood (in foyer, kitchen and powder room), installing new, unfinished hardwood (in our study and formal living and dining rooms), and staining it all a single color. Steve assured us that we could achieve our goal of having a single hardwood flowing throughout the first floor of our home. He also told us he could sand past the bevels in our 1999 Bruce flooring--creating a smooth surface and highlighting the beauty of the oak grain.

Steve and his guys were consummate professionals. The project took four days, and aside from the strong odor resulting from the oil-based finish that we chose, went quite smoothly. Steve worked with us in selecting and tweaking our color choices so that our goal (having all three areas the same color) was accomplished beautifully. We were dealing with three different types of wood with varying tones and finishes, so this was not a typical refinish. We are thrilled with the results!
Description of Work: Refinished floors in three adjoining areas - kitchen/breakfast room, foyer and dining room.

We went out of town while he worked. My daughter said all went well. We had forgotten about removing the coats from the hall closet, but he carefully put them away elsewhere for us. He hung up cloths and then vacuumed up all the sanding dust, so we came home to a very clean and beautiful area. Our floors still look great after over 5 years!
Description of Work: Sand and finish wood floors in living room, dining room, and foyer. Sanded 3 times and a fine screening prior to finishing. Floors finished with 3 coats of oil modified polyurethane.

This project started during Hurricane Sandy so shortly after tearing up the carpeting, our neighborhood lost power for 4 days which disrupted Steve's schedule since he did not have a generator with enough capcity for his finishing / sanding equipment. In order to finish our project so we could move our furniture back into these spaces (we were living out of one room in the house) and still be able to start his first vacation in 3 years, Steve worked the following Satruday and Sunday to complete the job which was above and beyond ...... otherwise we would have been living out of one room for another 3 weeks minimum. Due to the storm there was also heavy humnidity which delayed the curing / drying times for his finishes (they stayed tacky). He generally started around 8:00 AM and worked until around 5:00 PM daily. He left the area clean and neat at the end of each day. He taped up some lastic barriers to seal off the kitchen in an effort to keep down dust but the nature of the project was creating dust but he did keep it to a minimum. One of his helpers and quot;dingedand quot; some drywall accidentally which he was willing to patch but we waived the repair (no paint clolor to match). He was firendly and courteous but frustrated too by all the negative effects Sandy had on the project both for himself personally and our project. We would (and do) highly recommend him for floor refinsihing and repairs.
Description of Work: Take upexistinging carpeting in all rooms and refinish existing hardwood floors with minor repairs including 2 coats of clear finish.

Overall cleaned up site at the end of each work day. and quot;maskedand quot; off open areas with plastic and tape to minimize dust and debris. Difficult working conditions during and after Super Storm Sandy. Required 230Vac and used his own Circuit Breaker in our main panel to obtain required panel once power was restored on Warminster area (4 day outage). Big points for voluntarily working a Satrduay and Sunday to complete the project on time when weather dealys were not contractors fault. In family room, relocate excessively heavy TV console out of his way on his own and replaced when done on that area. Service above and beyond what was expected
Description of Work: Stage one - week 1 in the middle of super Storm Sandy - Pulled up existing carpet, Strpped, sanded and refinsihed Living room, dining room floor, hallway floor, stairs (risers and treads) and guest room floor. Many service interruptions due to lack of power (not contractors fault) but Steve worked around the power issues including working a Satruday / Sunday combo once power was restored to stay on schedule and complete on time. Stage 2 - Week 2 - Pulled up existing carpet in family room and laid new enginered floating flooring with necessary trim in less than 36 hours. .
