Mooney's Moving & Storage

A representative came to the house to give an estimate. He was very nice, and gave me advice to speed up the move. The day of the move, they actually finished about 2 hours earlier than they estmated despite 90+ degree weather.

These guys were great! Nate, George and Lee if I remember correctly. They were on-time pleasant and moved quickly! It took them about 3 hours, which is amazing because there were stairs, stairs and more stairs and the stairway was very narrow. We also lived in a middle townhouse and some of our items could only be taken out the back, down a flight of stairs and around two other townhouses. Once we got to our new place it took only 1.5 hours for them to unload all of our stuff. They were careful with our belongings, took really quick breaks and a quick lunch and did mess around. We are "professional" movers and by that I mean we have moved 4 times in the last 2 years and these guys were by far the best! I would highly recommend and definitely use them when we move again (which we will inevitably do!)!

I used Angie's List to narrow down a list of movers and contacted several. Because my mother didn't have a lot of things to ship, some companies wouldn't take the job at all. But Mooney's Movers not only accepted the job, they delivered outstanding customer service at every point along the way from the appraisal to the delivery. My mother is elderly and this was a big move for her, so it was important to me that the movers handle her things with great care, and also that they be friendly and polite. I am very happy with everyone who was involved in this move. Everyone we spoke to or met in person was pleasant and seemed to take pride in doing a good job. While the cost was a bit higher than I originally anticipated, I believe it was worth every cent in order to have the peace of mind that Mooney's Movers gave me as I moved my mother to New Mexico. I highly recommend them!

We were able to contract for the move for pre-Labor Day weekend, when several other companies were already booked. Moving team arrived on schedule with a truck dedicated to the move. Boxes and furniture were efficiently loaded, and a brief intermediate stop to pick up some additional belongings on the way was also completed quickly. The estimated price was a bit higher than two other estimates we received, but given the time constraints and the quality of ratings on Angie's List, we agreed to use Mooney's. [I later learned that a local realtor who maintains a list of vendors for clients who are buying or selling homes in the area--based on client recommendations--had Mooney's as one of the three moving companies on the list.] The delivery proved a bit more of a challenge because the space turned out to be a bit tighter than anticipated. I intructed the crew to leave at least several inches between furniture and electrical outlets because these were at a premium in the apartment. Although one bedroom and the living room were set up properly, I missed the fact that heavy pieces of furniture in the second bedroom were block two outlets. I was able to shift one an inch (all that was needed) myself, but have been waiting for someone to help me to move the other. Other than that lapse, I was very pleased with the professional manner and efficiency of the entire team.

Everyone involved from the start was excellent. Steve showed up to give me an estimate and remained the point person through the entire process. He was kind enough to answer little questions I had about packing do's and don'ts via email with often immediate responses... even on the weekend! The guys that came to pack were really nice, professional, and very neat. They took care to make sure that the house was protected as well as the items being moved. Glen Lucas, the driver of the Stevens truck (Stevens handles their long distance moves) was put in a bit of a bind because the load he picked up the day before was way bigger than anticipated. This meant that they had to carefully reload and load the truck to make everything fit. Instead of leaving in the afternoon, he wasn't able to leave until 7pm. Through the entire process, he never complained and the price of my move did not change. Glen got our things to Princeton on day 1 of the window of time given. I should also mention that he was always right on time and called to give us an approximate arrival time. All I can say is that the combination of Steve, at Mooney's and the driver, Glen Lucas, at Stevens Van Lines was perfect. Almost everyone I spoke to warned me that it's impossible for a long distance move to happen without things breaking. Well, I can say that their was only one very old piece of furniture where a bracket broke but other than that, I did not have a single scratched, chipped, or dented piece!I would not hesitate to recommend Mooneys for a move - either long or short to anyone!

We were very happy with the work they did. The crew arrived on time, worked very hard, conducted themselves in a very professional and friendly manner, and went out of their way to help us. Our belongings arrived without any damage, and they were good about setting up/moving the furniture around the new house. We especially liked the way that they worked around our two small dogs, which helped minimize their stress with the move.

I like that the owner of the company actually was the one who came out to do the estimate. He had all the technology with him to give me the estimate right down the spot. He followed up with my management company for my condominium building and they made sure they had the insurance. It was professionally handled. They followed up with everything that I needed them to follow up with really quickly. It has been a good experience so far.

Mooney's was immediately responsive to my moving inquiries. They sent out a professional estimator to go over my needs and provide an estimate and next steps for reserving the moving dates and times. The company sent over a very small truck in comparison to the content of my home. The three moving men acknowledged they brought the wrong size truck but did not exchange it for the proper size or go and retrieve a 2nd truck. They proceeded to spend a lot of time trying to fit the contents of the house into a smaller truck in the pouring rain. It took much longer than anticipated to load the truck. The truck was retained overnight and contents delivered to the new house the next day. My son's mattress was wet and we found a box drenched with water. The moving men were extremely polite but not gentle with the house or our valuables. The strairwell walls were gouged and my furniture damaged. My bedroom dresser was broken and needed to have a professional furniture repair man come out to fix the ball bearings and drawer tracks that were ripped out of the dresser due to carelessness of the movers. I followed up with the moving company the day after the move only to be told that they would have to send out a claim form that I would need to fill out and send back. I completed the form and received a check for $60 the following week. The reason was that I accepted the basic insurance rate of .60 for every lb of furniture. However, I was never offered any other type of insurance for my belongings. My overall experience was very bad and I would never recommend this company to anybody. I believe the issues started when the crew brought the wrong size truck and tried to fit too much into the truck. This not only increased the odds of damaged furniture but also added 3-4 hours of moving time. My actual cost came in $400 over the estimate provided.

They were very careful, friendly, and everything went smoothly. I would highly recommend them.

We could not have been happier! Mooney's did an excellent job on both ends of our move. We experienced NO damage to our goods or homes. The crews were very professional and polite. Even when wrestling our thick king-sized mattress up our narrow stairs, they maintained a pleasant attitude. We would highly recommend them!!!

I was impressed with Mooney's from the beginning, when Steven came to our home to give an estimate on cost. He was punctual, polite, and technologically advanced, using a PDA to record furniture and dimensions, then hooking up to a portable printer to provide a printed estimate on the spot. He also provided lots of resources and advice about packing. Our schedule was not an issue - we needed to be moved out of our old house one day, have the items stored overnight, and moved in to the new house the following afternoon. The day of move-out was one of the hottest, most humid days of the year, and we were in a house with no air conditioning. It was a long, hot day, but the crew arrived on time and remained cheerful despite the conditions. They arrived around 9 AM and were finished around 3 PM. The following day we had our closing appointment in the morning, then met the movers at 1 PM at our new home. All our items had remained on the truck overnight. The same crew returned to unload into the new house. This process took less time than moving out, from about 1 PM to 5 PM. Luckily, it was a cooler day and the new house had air conditioning. Unfortunately, some items were damaged in the move: table tops were scratched, and the base of a wardrobe was cracked, leaving the entire unit unusable. To be fair, these were inexpensive Ikea pieces, but they had been moved before with no issues. A couple of boxes were crushed, but the contents were unharmed (a testament to their moving skills or my packing skills?). Several weeks after moving we discovered an item that had apparently been broken and balanced back together, which we didn't notice until I bumped into it and the pieces tumbled apart. Overall, I had a good experience and would not hesitate to use Mooney's again. However, I wish they had taken more care with our items and pointed out any issues, rather than trying to cover them up.

The crew arrived promptly. Things went well. Later in the afternoon, the crew seemed tired, and the move slowed down. There was damage to a piece of furniture (which was heavy and bulky) that was not noted until later.

We called for a bid which they promptly gave us. The company was reasonably priced. They showed up on time, worked hard, packed up the house quickly and the next day quickly unpacked us. They had a can-do attitude. Nothing was a problem. We enjoyed the experience.

The moving experience with Mooney's was fantastic. The guys were on time and prepared for any situation. The truck was more than big enough and they carried padding and wrapping materials, which they used for my mirrors and fragile items. The men who moved me were very friendly and listened to my ideas and requests carefully. They got right to work and completed the job relatively quickly. In fact, the entire move only took 3 hours, although they had estimated 4 hours. So, I paid less than the original estimate! My household items were handled with care and the guys were careful not to scratch the new floors or walls as they unpacked the truck and brought furniture inside. I would highly recommend Mooney's Moving - and I will definitely use them again!

The company sat down with me and told me what would be moved out. They were kind enough to tell me what things that just needed to be thrown out.

Had Steven come in and do an estimate to move us from a 3BR TH to a SFH in the same town. Very professional, courteous and was able to come up with a very accurate estimate for the hours it would take (6.5 hours in this case). In addition was able to accommodate a last minute request to have the team show up later than was originally scheduled due to closing issues on the new property. Team of 4 showed up (about an hour later than expected), very high energy, friendly and professional. Did a great job moving the stuff that we had already packed. They were also very helpful in placing the items in the appropriate places without much direction. I've put a B on price because this was an in town move and we thought it was expensive, but, given the hassle free experience, definitely worth every penny spent. Couldn't find one attachment for our treadmill the next day, Steven was quick to call back and have his crew man follow up. Was able to resolve quickly as the item had indeed been delivered and was sitting in the basement. Well done Mooneys, will continue to use you in the future and recommend to our friends.

I have done 10 corporate moves with national moving companies and Mooney's staff were by far the most professional and attentive we have used. They responded to any request and never complained about any aspect of the work.

The work turned out fine. I used their services because they were available on that day and they seemed to be well rated. They were nice guys. They were good and their price was fair. The quality of their work was fine. They didn?t break anything. Their responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism were all very good. I would use their services in the future too.

Packers and movers were all fast, efficient, punctual and professional. The final charge was less than the estimate.

two things i wasn't prepared for: 1) mooneys comes out and prepares and estimate. the final bill is based on what they actually move and it was over 50% higher than the estimate. part of this is my fault as i wasn't sure on the day of the estimate of all items-if i would pack and move some myself. the estimator should have explained the bill would be based on what they actually moved and packed. 2) mooneys packer overwrapped items. every kitchen item was wrapped; sometimes more than once. i would have asked for way less wrapping and to take a chance that some items would break. the move was only ten miles; i doubt anything would have broken. it took me two days to unwrap and unpack just my kitchen items due to all the wrapping.

I spent about $2000 on the job. They were fine. I think I got a bid from another company. However, this company was recommended by a friend, who had used them earlier. I moved into my new residence a day before Thanksgiving and they put extra guys on the job to make sure that they did the work in plenty of time. They wanted me to settle in before the holiday; that was really nice. The moving in was very quick and easy. I will definitely use them again in the future.

I couldn't be happier with this company. They had moved several of my friends, who were uniformly happy with them, and I liked the fact that they are a family business. They packed my house into 3 16' PODS for storage. The three guys who worked the job were very hard-working, efficient, polite, and pleasant. The guy who was actually packing the stuff into the PODS really impressed me - I don't think you could have fit a piece of paper between the items in the POD, they were packed so tightly, so I'm confident there's no possibility of shifting and breakage. Their price was right in line with the other bids I received.

Excellent job. On time, very professional, conscious to keep costs down and very personable.

THE WORKERS WERE SLUGGISH, AND BARELY SPOKE OR RESPONDED TO ME. THEY DID NOT FOLLOW MY REQUESTS FOR PLACEMENT OF FURNITURE WELL. MINOR DAMAGE TO WALLS. THEY DID ARRIVE ON TIME, BUT THE JOB TOOK LONGER THAN EXPECTED DUE TO THE SLOW WORKERS.
