Description of Work: Moved a dinning room table and six chair to our daughters home. They were here on time and everything went well on the other end.

Description of Work: Move went as planned with one exception, my son's bureau would not fit up the stairs to the attic. They tried their best but no go, so they helped me disassemble the bureau to get it up the steps. I had to put it back together myself, but they didn't have to help me with even taking it apart.

Description of Work: We moved twice in 4 months and I used Mooney's both times. They were terrific. Highly recommend them.

Description of Work: Mooney's packed our household belongings and coordinated with Steven's for the loading transport and delivery from PA to CA. They significantly underestimated the size of the load (16,000 vs 21,000 pounds)but honored the quoted price. There were numerous issues. They were scheduled to pack on Mar 27, April 1 & 2. All started well on Mar 27, but no one showed up on Apr 2. # people came on Apr 2 but did not finish packing and had to return on Apr 3 & 4. Steven's showed up late on Apr 3 to start loading. Since packing was not complete loading got off to a bad start. The loading was scheduled to be complete on 4 Apr but was not finished until late on Apr 5. Due to the underestimated size of the load, they every cubic foot of the truck (including a large percentage of the drivers cabin) was packed. Both the packing and loading staffing was inadequate to complete the job as scheduled. |The truck arrived in CA one day ahead of schedule and we had to delay unloading for that day. The unloading crew was also understaffed and the unloading took longer than scheduled. They were supposed to reassemble everything that they had disassembled in PA, but due to scheduling issues and under-staffing, I had to reassemble a significant percentage of the items myself. |To their credit, everyone was courteous and worked hard. However, the packing and loading team were not effective in preparing for a cross-country transportation and had to be coached by the driver which took a significant percentage of his time. The driver also did all of the inventory - which took far too much time - he should have had someone less experienced to help with the inventory. The driver had to spend significant time getting more experienced help for loading on 5 Apr. Without the additional crew he brought in loading would not have been completed even a day late and everything would not have fit on the truck. | |Teams on both ends were careful and no damage was done to either house. A few items were damaged due to the tightness of the load and in at least one case due to the inexperience of one of the loading team.

Description of Work: I feel badly about having to give such a low grade on the overall experience because Mike, the manager who came out and gave me my quote was great. He was on time, super professional, and really very nice. I hired them, after reading the positive reviews on Angie's List and having met Mike, to move my family from a two bedroom apartment in Philadelphia to a four bedroom house in Des Moines. Their quote was by no means the lowest, (3500) but I wanted to make sure our stuff got to us intact. We weren't moving much furniture (just a couple beds and bookcases) and no large appliances so I was surprised at the price, but figured I would get what I paid for. They also gave me a very large window of when I could expect my things, at the earliest three days, at the latest three weeks. I sent in my contract...and then never heard from them. I finally called to confirm that they did, indeed, receive the paper work and was assured they had. Weeks went by and I didn't hear anything. No confirmation or rough time the moves might be coming in the morning. I called myself the day before and was told they'd be there between nine and nine thirty the next morning. The three guys who came to load the stuff up were polite and very quick. I couldn't have asked for a better team. I called Mooneys again when it had been four days or so and I was hoping for a window as to just how long my daughter would be without a bed or toys. The girl I spoke with on the phone gave me a tracking address and a code I could use to find this myself-a very helpful tool if A.) they had thought to give this to me BEFORE and B.)If they had spelled my name correctly so that I could actually take advantage of the service. I also asked them to please send me a new quote so that my husband and I could have an idea what to expect. We had increased our load by a dresser and a second bed and we knew it would add to the cost. I was told that they didn't have that the manager didn't have that information on him and that he would have to send it to me later. I didn't hear from them again until I called to ask another question about the status of my belongings and was given the total, a bill now totaling close to 5300 dollars. I was also told that while my things were in transit it would be another five days before they showed up at my door. When the truck did come, it came with a driver (a very friendly and hard working guy) and a local dayworker the company had obviously hired for just that day. Honestly, I didn't think this guy was going to make it all the way through. He was coughing and sweating so profusely it was dripping all over the carpet. They damaged the staircase and didn't reassemble any of the furniture that they were supposed to. The boxes were also oddly marked, some missing numbers all together, some mislabeled, others doubled up. It was very confusing and frustrating. Sadly, our antique bed, dresser, and a large floor lamp were all damaged beyond repair. I called Mooney's to submit a claim and was told I needed to call Stevens Van Line directly as they were moving their office and had no way to get me the paperwork I needed. I have called Stevens three times and have yet to get a reply. All and all, I'm split. The people I spoke with at Mooneys were all helpful and polite, but the actual move was bizarre with little communication and sad end results.

Description of Work: WE MOVED ABOUT 1/4 OF A MILE AWAY. THERE WERE 4 WORKERS AND THEY HAD A FULL DAYS WORK OF LOADING A FULL TRUCK AND UNLOADING TO THE APPROPRIATE ROOMS.
