 + -1 moreIt was a great experience. They arrived promptly when they told me they would. They were very professional and friendly. They explained what they would be doing at the beginning of each day. At the end of each day they provided an update. They cleaned up at the end of each day. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an asphalt driveway!
Description of Work: Asphalt driveway replacement. They were prompt, courteous and professional. They did the work over two days. The first day was removing the old driveway and putting in the stone base. The second day they came back to lay the asphalt. They placed a cover over our pavers/walkway so that asphalt did not get on them. All stones were placed on a tarp during installation and everything was cleaned up afterwards like before the first day they arrived.

 + -1 moreOne of the best experiences that I ever had working with a contractor. Joe Connolly couldn't have made it easier. For my part, it only took a phone call. Joe gave me a rough estimate on the phone and followed up the next day by giving me an onsite estimate. We agreed and setup our schedules. Joe and his team arrived on the agreed upon day at 7:30am sharp. By the way, I used the term "team" because that's what they are...a well-oiled group that work together to provide a superior product/service. They took pride in preparing the area. This was not easy since our driveway has a Bluestone walk connected to it on one side and pavers on the other. I don't know how they do it but all edging is perfect, as is the entire driveway. This company is experienced, knowledgeable and meticulous. Hopefully you can tell that I am extremely pleased that I used Joe Connolly Paving to resurface my driveway. BTW...once you meet Joe Connolly, I'm sure you'll agree with the following statement - he's one of the nicest gentleman that I've ever met.

 + -1 moreWe had several estimates that were left in my door or mailbox. The other people that left their estimates never called to go over the estimate or explain the work that would be done. Joe came out to the house on a Saturday & spoke to both my husband & myself & explained the work that was to be done. He was very pleasant and answered all our questions. I hired him on the spot. They arrived promptly between 7-7:30 am. Excavation was done on the existing asphalt driveway surface , stone area, pave entire drive approx. 60 Sq. yards total with 3" ID2 asphalt. They protected my new paver walk along ridge. The job was completed the same day. We had to have the garage door open so they could pave. My husband & myself had to leave for work, we left a key to our garage with Joe & he made sure the door was closed upon completion. They were very professional & courteous. I get a lot of compliments on the work that was done. I would definitely use them again & I also refer them to others looking to have their driveways done.

 + -1 moreOur driveway was a mess; not just cracks, but also a fairly large pothole. Joe Connolly was honest if recommending what needed to be done: just crack filling and seal coat wouldn't last and a complete repaving was "overkill". He recommended resurfacing. He personally performed the estimate (beat his competition by a lot) and made the follow up contacts with me. The job they did looks fantastic! Warrantied for 5 years. In addition, Joe and all his crew were very professional and, quite simply, just very people. I wouldn't use anybody else if I ever need this done again.

 + -1 morePrior to starting the work Joe and I discussed the scope of the project. Joe was helpful in making suggestions about what would work best for us. The other contractors we met with seemed more interested in just giving us a quick bid and leaving. Joe and his crew were there when he said they would be there. They performed the services he and I agreed on. He also helped us relocate some sod from the expanded areas. He and his men were neat. They cleaned the areas around the worksite each time they left. We have had other kinds of work done before and I would rate Joe right at the top for professionalism, attention to detail and customer satisfaction. If you want the cheapest job you may not choose Joe, but if you want a job well done he's your man.
Description of Work: Tore up and removed old driveway. Widened the driveway to accommodate two cars for the whole length. Laid down and compacted a layer of stone. paved the whole driveway with a 3' layer of asphalt. Joe also put us in contact with someone to install the widened curb and lay a new concrete walkway. He coordinated with him to make sure the meet points with the new driveway would meet seamlessly.

We respectful of the property, laid paper of new bluestone, respectful of the landscaping. Cleaned up afterwards. From start to finish--- dug up old driveway, relaid new base and packed, overlaid new asphalt, packed, steamrolled. Clean lines. Matched height of garage floor, met up to the bluestone walkway, and path through side yard. Looks great. Informed me with expectations and how to maintain. Bill was exactly what was estimated. Very friendly, professional and overall well-oiled team of 3.

 + -1 moreAll work done as per the estimate in a timely manner. Contractor was very easy to work with. He gave us adequate advance notice; answered all questions; even washed dust and grime off of the garage doors; siding; and outside step leading from driveway into our laundry room without us having to mention it. He provided instructions as to how to care for the driveway and how soon it could be used after the installation. The driveway was installed with sloping that will provide the necessary and proper water run-off when it rains. He even cut up (into small pieces) an obsolete metal basketball post so that it could be recycled and used the 60 pounds of sand that was in the plastic base of the basketball unit as part of the driveway base. Joe was very easy to work with; excellent prices; returned phone calls in a reasonable time; cleaned up after completion so that except for a very black driveway and his sign and yellow tape across the driveway you would never know that an old driveway had been ripped out and a new one had been installed. It was that easy of a process.
Description of Work: Excavation of existing asphalt driveway surface; add stone where needed over entire drive for uniform base; pave entire drive with 3.5" ID2 asphalt.

On the same day the job was done, a neighbor that was watching them work was so impressed with Joe's involvement on the job and the quality of the work that was done, that he took down Joe's name and telephone number to have Joe do his driveway as well.
Description of Work: Our driveway was in fair condition; I had been putting off getting it repaved for years thinking it wasn't "that bad" and I wasn't ready to drop several thousand dollars on having it removed and replaced. My wife and I decided that this year was the year we should seriously look into redoing the driveway. We started the process by looking at some neighbors' driveways that were done recently. One neighbor's driveway stood out among the rest. We asked that neighbor who they use and they said "Joe Connolly." We called Joe and he came out to take a look at our driveway. Among the things we liked most about working with Joe was that he didn't try to sell us something we didn't need. He said, if your driveway was in fair condition without major cracks, it may be a good candidate for topping instead of removal and replacement. He thought that was the case with our driveway. Another quality we liked about the way Joe does business is that he's a "hand-on" guy. When he says he's going to do your driveway, he going to be there supervising the job so that it's done just right. And lastly, Joe's prices are very reasonable; whether or not you choose to have it topped or removed and replaced
