Overall they did a nice job replacing my roof. I have not experienced any leaks since it was replaced in September of 2017. They were very friendly to work with, affordable, and went to great lengths protecting my landscaping and property. I've heard horror stories from people who've found coffee cans full of nails after they had their roof replaced. Some of which have ended up in their car tires. Certainly not with these guys! I only found 1 nail since September and that was just recently. There were two small issues during and after the installation that they corrected immediately. Just before they were ready to leave I asked the foreman if they had installed my bathroom exhaust vent. He looked puzzled by this question and went into his truck to get the contract. When he flipped through the contracts he saw that a bathroom exhaust vent should've been installed. Luckily he had one in his truck for another job (that's what he told me). He had his crew install that before leaving. They were not able to connect the exhaust hose from the roof vent to the bathroom exhaust fan for some reason. I think the hose was not long enough. A few days after the roof was completed my girlfriend noticed a waterfall coming from the gutter after the first rainstorm. She took a video of it and I emailed it to them. They called me promptly and assured me that it was nothing to worry about. They sent two guys out a day or two later and they hooked up the bathroom vent and took care of the downspout. They did not collect any money from me until after the work was completed. Once it was paid in full they mailed out my warranty. I would definitely hire this company again. I even recommended them to my neighbor and she used them to have her roof replaced also.

I had originally called a Plumber thinking that it was a plumbing leak. Plumber came out and told me that it was a roof vent flashing that was dry rotted and leaking. I called a number of roofers and all gave me a 2 week wait for an appt. Griffith Exteriors listened to the issue and let me know that they had another repair close by the next business day and would swing by. Steve came over as promised and in 15 minutes, the vent flashing that was leaking, along with 3 other pipe covers were replaced (just in case since he was already up there). I realize it was a quick job, but I am so grateful that they worked our house into their busy schedule and repaired it. The small problem, if left for 2 more weeks could have created a mold issue up in my attic. So, it was a big deal to me. I appreciate it.

I had 2 Velux skylights that needed replacing after 20 years. I wanted new Velux skylights with laminated glass. The scheduling was fine, but during the install it was discovered that the distributor had given the installers non-laminated glass. The installers immediately called their office, and Kris Griffith, the owner, personally called me to apologize, even though the fault was the distributor for handing over the wrong glass. The installers temporarily put the glass they had on hand onto the frames (as it was getting late in the day) and came the next day to replace the glass. The windows were fine for a few months, but one of the skylights' internal painted frame began to bleed paint. Griffith Exteriors sent one of their serviceman to inspect the window, and he expressed concern that unless they could document a leak with a water test that Velux would not honor the warranty. I communicated to Kris that if not a leak, then the paint Velux applied was not applied correctly as it was bleeding. I know from experience that some manufacturers may do everything they can to weasel themselves out from their own warranty obligations, so I commend Kris for going ahead and replacing the skylight for me at his own risk Velux may refuse their obligations. I should point out that I have been doing business with Griffith Exteriors for many years. They replaced all my roof shingles and put in gutter leaf covers many years ago and did an wonderful job dealing with a homeowners association that can at times be extremely nitpicky. I have also had them do a number of smaller repairs for me, in addition to this current skylight project. This company has grown a lot since I first contacted Kris when he had to take all calls himself and personally handled all scheduling. But even though he now has office staff to answer the phone and do the scheduling and estimates, he remains fully involved and aware of any situations with his customers. I think this sets his company apart from his competitors. They remain my first choice for future projects.

I wish there was a letter in the alphabet better than an "A". From the estimator, Ed, to the office support from Sarah right down to the site guys Tom and Sergei and their crew---it was as amazing an experience as replacing your roof can be! As part of this involved a homeowners insurance claim I expected a lot of hassle in general. Maybe from my insurance company, but definitely did not get it from Griffith!! They provided all the paperwork I needed. I have adjacent neighbors....the crew was courteous enough to alert them about possible debris falling so they could move vehicles. CLEAN UP WAS AMAZING !! It was a MESS but by nightfall you would not have known they were there. They moved my deck furniture back to where it was, swept, used a blower on the roof surfaces and the landscape, etc. And EVERYTHING was protected with tarps and sheets of plywood. They accidentally broke a tiny sewer vent cover (4 inch circle) on the lawn....the site super approached me, showed me the new cover which they had gone to purchase at the local hardware store. I honestly would not have even noticed....but they were up front about it. Even pointed out some rotted wood trim on a high chimney-top that they said I should have replaced. I can not say enough good things. One other note: two of my neighbors approached me separately and said it was the quickest and most efficient roof job they had EVER seen and asked for their information.
Description of Work: Complete roof replacement including all plywood/shingles/etc. It is a home with multiple roof surfaces and heights---a 2-story main roof, a 1-story peaked garage roof, front porch roof, a 1-story family room addition peaked roof, plus a tiny roof over a living room window. I believe it was approx. 2100 sq. feet in total.

They were fast and professional. I called them around 9 am and there were at my house by 2 pm. Because the job was relatively small, they were able to fix the problem right then and there. Additionally, the estimate they gave me for the job was half of that quoted to me by another vendor. I would gladly do business with them again.

It went WONDERFULLY. This was my first experience using Angie's List. I asked for and received estimates from three roofers. Two gave similar prices while the third was double the price. From the moment I was first in contact with Griffith Exteriors I was impressed. Everyone I spoke, emailed or had contact with were polite, conscientious, informative, fair, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Griffith Exteriors. Give them a call and let them give you an estimate and you will see exactly what I mean!

Had an amazing experience with Griffith. Choosing someone for a job this large and expensive is never easy, and with this being the first major project on my new house I was a little obsessive about it - but I am absolutely positive we made the right choice. They did a complete tear down of the existing (double-shingled) roof. We had a few small leaks, so we had them remove the plywood and insulation and replace that all too. I shopped around quite a bit before choosing Griffith, and their pricing was very competitive for the area. Every single step of the process was painless. Kris (owner) and Christine (office manager) were great to work with and made scheduling a breeze. Ed came out multiple times to help us pick colors, discuss siding and gutter options, etc. Steve (project manager) and his guys were friendly, respectful, and did a great job of cleanup afterwords. More importantly they were FAST and the roof is absolutely gorgeous. I could not be happier with how the project went, and would give more than 5 stars if I could. Highly recommended.

From the very start of the process Griffith was easy to deal with and great. They were one of five bids I got to replace my roof and by far the cheapest; however that wasn't why I went with them. I had decided that cheapest wasn't my goal, best was. They use a high quality product and are certified installers. This was very important to me as was the ventilation system. Christine in the office was always quick to respond to my questions as well as send me samples to choose from. On the day of installation they arrived promptly at 7:30 and worked quickly through the day. They were professional and courteous. At all times there was a foreman available if I had questions. The cleanup was also done as promised. After about a week there was a single loose shingle (which I assume isn't unusual) and I emailed them to ask if someone could look at it; Christine responded immediately that they would send someone out. The shingle was repaired by the time I got home that night. I would recommend 100% Griffith Exteriors and will probably be contacting them in the future regarding other jobs.

In all respects were timely and professional. As far as I can tell, they did everything they said that they would do. They showed up to work on time and the entire roof was done in 1 day. No sense of artifically finding problems that could raise the bill. In particular, in contrast to other roofers ( or, more accurately, the reports I have read concerning others) we have found no nails or other debris left behind the stripping of the old shingles. Price was markedly better than other estimates- time will tell whether this was truly a good deal or not. For now, several hard rains and no suggestion that the roof was anything other than professionally replaced.

A few weeks ago we had a leak in our roof (19 years old) and immediately started looking for quotes from different companies. Shortly after I called Griffith Exteriors, Ed came out and took a look at the situation. He used satellite technology to measure how many square feet the roof was (around 2400 sq ft). He also went up into the attic and advised me on how to better improve the efficiency of the home by improving the insulation. Throughout the entire visit Ed was very knowledgeable and did a great job explaining everything to us. He also offered me a great discount since it was off-season for roofs, as well as the fact that I am in the military. Overall the cost of the new roof was only 8,600 (using Timberline HD shingles). But since we wanted to add insulation to the attic, that added 1,700 to the cost. That very same day Ed came back and gave us samples of a variety of shingle types and colors. On top of that, they were very accommodating as to what days they were going to come out a do the work. The project took about one and a half days. The project manager came and explained everything to my wife, since I was at work the entire time. They didn't require any money up front at all, which was a great surprise to me. They also made sure to clean up all of the nails and trash after they were finished. On top of that, they said that they would come by when the snow melted in order to do another final cleanup of anything that they missed. In the end, Griffith Exteriors were extremely efficient and friendly throughout the entire process. Their offer was the lowest that we had received after looking at two other local companies. They were also very accommodating and clearly were experts in their field (I believe Ed had said that his family had been in the business for over twenty years). Either way, I would highly recommend Griffith Exteriors and would use them again.

Decided to have this company replace my roof and add attic insulation as they seemed to have good reviews. We signed the contract in late August and a team of people came to do the job after around two weeks. It was clear that they were in a hurry to replace the entire roof (and complete the insulation job) of a 4000 sqft house in one day. They broke my front foyer ceiling two hours after they started the job!!! Apparently this did not slow them down and they claimed to have completed the job at sunset. I was very upset with the ceiling and was not able to inspect the roofing job since it has gotten dark already. The owner sent people in three times to repair the ceiling. This means I asked for leave three times from my work. The ceiling was finally repaired in mid-October. I wish this would be the end of the story. Unfortunately, it's not. The roof has unevenness from day one and we were told that it takes some time for the shingles to adhere and form an even surface. The contract reads that all the counter flashing will be replaced. Apparently the job was not done and even after I found this out, people from the company claimed it'd be better if I keep the old one! They finally came to put new counter flashing on today. However, up till today, almost six months after we signed the contract and five months after the roof was installed, the FRONT side of the roof is still wavy and the owner of the company claims it is perfectly normal even if his own person installing counter flashing today agreed it REALLY sucks! Throughout the process, the owner has never sent anyone out to inspect the quality of the installation, only claiming that he trusts his people. I had daydreamed that they would eventually correct their mistakes. However, it has finally become clear to me that this would never happen. No need to say that I have become extremely frustrated and exhausted after dealing with the company for six months. Of course, they might have done good jobs on other houses. However, I could only describe my experience as a disaster or nightmare. If you are considering hiring this company to do your roofing job, you should seriously consider how you would feel if you were in my shoes and whether you are at all willing to go through the same process as I did. Of course you will hear the company say that what happened to me is rare and I am a customer that is extremely hard to satisfy no matter what they do. BUT, are you really out of choice so that you are willing to take the risk? --- The following are in response to what the company says: 1. Why the company was contacted multiple times with different problems with the roof? The answer is simple: They have NEVER sent anyone to carefully inspect their installation to make sure everything is right. Not being a professional roofer, all that I am able to is do to let them know an issue as soon as I can spot one. 2. Why I was insisting on a specific kind of paint? My wife was pregnant, and it is well known that certain paint poses additional risk to pregnant women. 3. Regarding counter flashing. Two of the company's employees came to complete some remaining job and to correct the garage roof installation in January. This is the first time I confirmed with them that the counter flashing was still the original one. One of them (Chris) told me that cutting the old one out would harm the brick work and suggested that I should either leave it alone or cover it with a new layer. I wanted the company to honor the contract and so asking for putting on a new layer. Throughout the process, I was not informed of the option of cutting in new counter flashing one course above the existing one.

Let me preface my response by stating that we have been with AngiesList for four years now and have super service awards for each year. If you read reviews of my company where we have actually performed work you will see that my customers are quite happy with our quality as well as our customer service. So if you are a potential customer reading this review I would please ask that you look at our reviews as a whole rather than one specific instance. We were contracted by this gentleman to replace the existing roof as well as add additional insulation to the attic. There were also some other exterior repair items that the customer asked us to include in our contract and we of course agreed. The colors were selected and we started the project. During the attic insulation portion of the project one member of my team slipped off a ceiling joist and put his foot through the drywall. At that time my project manager informed me as well as the client and cleaned up the interior. The customer then informed me that he had in-laws coming from China the following week and he did not want them to see a hole in his drywalI immediately began to work on setting up interior repairs. The customer then requested a specific paint due to his wife's paint sensitivity. I made several calls and found the paint at a location in NJ and sent one of my team to pick up the paint requested. It was two hours round trip but again my goal is to correct the interior and conclude the contract with a happy customer. The first date requested for repairs did not work out with my drywall contractor. The customer has several other adult family members living in the house but he insisted that he oversee the repairs personally so I suggested a date and set everything up and then his schedule didn't work that day. The day of the repair he needed to leave by 10:30 am so I sent one of my project managers to over see the repair so he could leave for work. The drywall repair was completed and looked good. The drywalll contractor was going to blend the paint with a flat ceiling paint that would match his ceiling and blend the repairs nicely. I told the contractor that you must use the specified paint so he did. After it dried it was clear that the paint requested did not match the existing so we had to come back and paint the entire ceiling. We rescheduled and I sent another project manager to oversee the painting work of the entire ceiling. Around Christmas time the customer began to send photos of the roof and asked me to make some adjustments to our installation and again I agreed. When we were on site to adjust some shingles that he believed would not flatten themselves out he told my service tech that the counter flashing needs to be replaced. We adjusted the shingles and I spoke with the customer and told him that the counter flashing is general item on our contract and when we are on site I leave that up to the judgement of my project manger who in this case has roughly 40 years of roofing experience. The counter-flashing on this house was done when the home was constructed roughly 20 years ago. When it was constructed a brick by brick counter flashing was set into the structure approximately 3". If we were to cut in new counter flashing it would be the course above the existing and would only be cut in 1"-1.25" Generally homeowners are okay with this as we hold the warranty for any future leakage for 10 years. The customer insisted that we re-clad the existing flashings rather than cut in new ones. Even though I disagreed with the request I went ahead and took care of that as well. When my tech was there he took care of the flashings and did a beautiful job. At no point would any of my employees say that anything "sucks" . Later that evening I was sent some photos of the front of the house that shows some dips in the sheathing. I told the customer that this is extremely common with newer construction homes that have truss frame construction and would be virtually impossible for us to diagnose at the time of installation. Moreover its an extremely common cosmetic issue that we don't feel is a basis for rejection or we would be replacing lots of sheathing unnecessarily. We have had homeowners in the past clearly identify cosmetic issues that they would like remedied but that was not the case on this project. It was at that point that I realized that no matter what my company does this customer will not satisfied. Every time I would in good faith modify his installation upon his request he would later identify something else that he would like changed. At that point I let him know that his roof is sound and that he has a manufacturers warranty that provides coverage for 50 years as well as a 10 year craftsmanship from my company. I told him that the office would send in an invoice for the balance of the project. For those of you who are still with me I apologize for the long winded response. This is the first instance I can recall where a customer was so displeased with our installation so obviously I want to make sure our side is explained. I have always been told that as a business sooner or later you will encounter a customer that you will do everything to please and at the end of the day they will still be unhappy and I was naive to that until today. Even though I spent thousands of dollars trying to make this customer happy and in the end it was never going to happen I see job as a whole a good learning experience for my company and will be discussing this project with my team and making adjustments to try and avoid this situation in the future. Thank you for your time, Kris Griffith Griffith Exteriors Inc.

Thank you for taking the time to review my company. I looked into your records as well as photos. You purchased a tune up package from Angieslist and we came out to service 10/18/13. Upon inspection my service tech realized that you had significant flashing/capping issues with your windows. These issues were leading towards moisture intrusion in the home and it would not be ethical for my company to ignore that and merely cover it up. We explained that your issues required more work than the tune up package would allow and we emailed a proposal 10/21 to re-flash/cap and j channel your existing windows. As I recall we did have some email issues with spam filtering. We also sent you a refund of the initial purchase ($175.00). Moisture intrusion is a significant problem in our area we are involved in lots of remediation projects that are a result of bad flashing details. After our experience with your situation we removed that special from Angieslist as we feel it puts us in an awkward position where homeowners are expecting us to apply a little caulk here and a little caulk there rather than fully address the potential issue. I apologize that we were not able to remedy your deficient flashing/window installation within the scope of the deal that you purchase however I believe as a company we made the right decision.

Very prompt. Christine emailed me quickly and communications were very clear. They came out and did the work as promised. I would definitely use them again and refer them to all of my friends/family.

Had roof replaced. It ended up costing a lot more than expected, but overall a very good job. Everyone that I dealt with whether in person, over the phone, or via email were all professional.

Response from Griffith Exteriors
Thank you for your review! I apologize for the cost over run due to plywood replacement and I wish that would never happen but at the end of the day sometimes it's needed to ensure a quality roofing job that will hold up over the years! I am glad you were happy with my team and if you need anything in the future please don't hesitate to ask! -Kris Griffith

This is a small family roofing business that provides excellent personalized service. Kris, the owner, is very personable and easy to work with. His father - in-law was on site both supervising and doing the actual work. It was obvious that they take pride in a job well done. The roof was replaced in one day and looks great. They returned a couple weeks later to replace the gutters, allowing us to complete some trim work. Clean up was thorough. The price couldn't be beat.

Crew arrived at noon on Friday after finishing another job as we were told they would. Six workers worked until dark finishing the largest of the three roofs.. Four arrived early the next day and completed the job and removed all the old shingles and filled up the fifteen cubic foot dumpster. Five sheets of plywood were used to replace the badly warn roof panels. They used their their magnets to pick up all the nails that escaped their tarps. They got and paid for the building permit, provided their liability insurance certificate, and even cleaned the gutters. The supervisor was terrific doing several jobs He repaired the grass that the large truck/crane made delivering the shingles. He even reinstalled the fireplace chimney shield that had fallen off years ago.
Description of Work: Removed two layers of shingles, provided proper under layment, reshingled the roof with high quality GAF shingles and provided a roof venting system.

Very good! I am happy with them. They were exception and made very good suggestions that other contractors had not considered and that is why I went with them. They were cost effective. They did the job very professionally. They showed up on time.

They were pretty good. They got back with me pretty quickly. We scheduled a date, but he showed up unexpectedly the next day, which I happened to be home, so wasn't a problem.
