2.5 years ago they replaced my heat pump under AHS home warranty. Recently the unit needed repair and looking at the model number of the unit they installed a 2 Ton unit in lieu of the 3 ton unit. Now explains why the unit runs continuously.

Sent out some kid named Luis. Had no idea what he was doing. Just kept talking nonsense about things being broken and trying to come up with repairs that they should do to my furnace. They were supposed to clean my unit, but to show his ignorance, he said that my furnace didn't have a burner to clean. It's a gas furnace and for the past 6 year since I got it, I have been cleaning it. After her left, two hrs later, my unit started to stop working, with an error code that indicates thermostat isn't getting power from furnace. I called another ethical company that I worked with before and they came out to inspect the unit to see what happened after American team came to my house. It turns out that all my power wires were loosened up from my furnace circuit bored, this was 2 days after American Team came out. My unit had never sopped working before. I will leave it up to you to interpret what that means. I will never use American Team again

They had no clue what they were doing. They kept guessing what was wrong instead of doing a diagnostic test at first. Came out four times and kept telling me something else was wrong. They then called to tell me that the unit needed two sensors and it would cost me $700.00 to fix. The two sensors cost $50.00. They did not know to drain the system before working on it, they said they changed parts that they did not change. I have them on camera scoping out my basement and taking pictures of items I have there. Unprofessional unscrupulous people. Also walking around my house with no mask on in a pandemic. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They also pulled apart my boiler and ceiling and left it just like that when I would not pay the astronomical price. They are the worst

Like most, I only used them because my warranty company sent them. Not only was the customer service horrible and it takes FOREVER for anything i.e. returned phone call, making an appointment, getting parts. My heater stopped working on November 18th. They came out the following week and said I needed a gas valve. Took a week, in todays day and age, for them to get that part. A different tech comes back out the night before thanksgiving with the part and I am so excited. In 3 minutes he comes and tells me my pilot assembly is broken clear off. I asked him why the first tech didn't notice. He shrugged and said he must not have checked. I'm not heating expert or anything but wouldn't the pilot be the first thing you would think to check??!! He leaves and says they now have to order that part. When I called the company the following Monday practically begging them to rush things along, they said they would not commit to anything sooner than Friday. I called a friend of mine in tears and she sent her heating contractor friend out just to take a look because I was desperate. He had it fixed in a matter of hours and only had to run out to get the necessary parts and was back to fix it that day. American Team for sure broke the pilot assembly, there is no other explanation for this. These people are horrible and I wouldn't wish this experience I had with them on anyone. Do yourself a favor and hire a reputable company that actually cares and knows what the heck they are doing.

Our experience with this company started last year (through our home insurance company). Our system stopped working, they came out charged us to fill the unit and the next day it was completely empty again, then they came back out checked again and said we needed an entire new unit because there was a hole (couldn't tell us that before we paid them to fill it). We arranged for it to be fixed and after going back and forth we got fed up and said we'll wait till next year to deal with it because summer was over. Now come this year we contacted the insurance company 3 months ago, who sent American team out again and for 3 months we've been hearing give us 4 days, give us 4 days, we're waiting on parts. When they first came out they saw I was pregnant and I said we really need to get this fixed before the baby comes. Well the baby is due any day and NOTHING has been done. We contacted our insurance company today and told them we refuse to keep waiting on this company. We are done with them! At this point I don't even trust them to do the work!! Stay away from this company unless you just want a run around.

I don't know what to say about these guys. They were assigned to me by the American Home Shield Warranty company to fix my AC. Compressor went bad. insurance company paid for compressor but they robbed me. 1. Didn't call me for 4 days. even though I left them messages. 2. I had to get American Home Shield Warranty company involved 3. They replaced refrigerant 2 years ago and charged me $1,500 4. They want to do the same thing again and I have no choice since I went thru my insurance company. 5. Person on Phone was very rude and not professional at all Avoid these guys at all costs. People who have posted the same thing earlier have similar feedback about these idiots.

American Team sent out Charles and Cody to install my new unit. Charles and Cody seamlessly installed my new heat pump and air handler and now I finally have cold air again! They are incredibly knowledgeable about the AC system, explained how everything works, and explained the whole process from soup to nuts. And mine was a complicated install with hundreds of feet of tubing and three full floors between the condenser unit and the air handler. They even had to arrange for a crane to get it up on the roof! They are punctual and efficient and I can’t recommend these guys and American Team enough.

I had two heat pumps that were giving me grief. My warranty company sent American team out. The techs were nice enough and exactly on time. They found the issue was a leak and a capacitor was bad. The company fixed it quickly. A month later I’m shocked to see my heating bill is about $500 more than what it was before. I called the warranty company and they sent these guys out again. The checked the system and told me one was shot and the other needed a new compressor. The one that needed the compressor was only five years old and a Carrier. I decided to get some quotes and had another HVAC company out. They thought it strange and offered to look at my system free of charge. The tech identified the problem as American Team putting the capacitor on upside down. He turned it around and the heat pump kicked right on no problem.

It did not go well. They came out ( 2 techs ) and I showed them my oil furnace. They took the HVAC pipe that led to chimney off and called me down. His first words were" Do you have babies ?" I said yes, I have children but not babies. He then said, word for word, " If you turn this on again they are going to die." Well I don't want that, so I asked what the problem was. He said that there was dirt on the furnace and the area where the pipe met the chimney. OK, I understand immediately that he was saying this was not his problem ( an issue with the furnace, but something that needed to be cleaned up ). I asked him if he did this type of service, knowing from previous service calls this was about 200-300 dollars. He told me he needed to talk to his boss and left the house so I could not hear him talk. He came back 5 minutes later and quoted me a 3000 dollar bill to " clean my furnace and put a liner in my chimney ". This was the point where I realized I was being ripped off, so I asked him home much the check amount for the deductible was and told him he could leave. We will be going back to the Home Warranty people to try and get our money back. I called another Oil Heating business ( largest in area ) and they laughed and told me a service call would be 289.00 and confirmed the price they quoted was ridiculously off. After reading other reviews on this company it sounds like business as usual.

American Team was assigned via HSA Home Warranty to provide a/c service after being told they would provide prompt service (24-48 hours) compared to a different company HSA assigned originally, which wouldn't come for another week. An email from HSA said American Team would "reach out" in "24 BUSINESS HOURS", and to call them if we hadn't heard back. After waitinng one day, we called American TEam..answereing machine..and left a message.. We never got a return call, tex, ot email to set up a service date. Reviews of this company are terrible all consumer websites we've since looked at. Conclusion> STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN TEAM, AND HSA HOME WARRANTY.

Complete rip off! This company was assigned to us by HSA warranty. Charged $100 for showing up. Tech wrote to the HSA that the problem was related to improper installation (something that was his opinion and not backed up by any facts - AC worked fine for several years after installation). HSA refused to cover the repair because of how he worded the report. Looks too much like a scam that runs between HSA and American Team.

I am a first-time homeowner and this was my first time using American Home Shield and having someone come in to fix my HVAC system. One day, I started to smell a burning plastic smell through the system. I went online to schedule a service through AHS. The next day I turned on the system again and the fire would ignite, but the blower would not send that heated air through the system. American Team called me the morning after I asked for a service and we scheduled a good time for them to check out the system. One of their employees, Mike, was on time and spent a little more than an hour checking out the system. He explained everything clearly and was very thorough. Everything he was checking made sense to me, and we ended up decided to order a new motherboard for my system. Two days later I called their office to check in. They said they had the part and it was being delivered after the weekend, and we scheduled a good time for them to come install the new motherboard. They sent out two different employees on time, and they went through a series of checks again. After about an hour, we installed the new motherboard and made sure that everything was working fine. I had no complaints or issues with American Team or American Home Shield. Overall good experience and I am less nervous for the next time I have to use AHS.

It didn't. They never returned a call, they never scheduled an appointment, and I guess they figure that since it was a contract with a home warranty company they could blow it off.
Description of Work: I just found out that this was the company that my home warranty contracted to come out and get my electric working again. I only get a text message with a number, and I called and called without a response. Since half my house electric did not work I called another company and they sent an Electrician out who fixed the problem at 400.00 (My deductible was 125.00). Today in my inbox found out they closed out the call. So nice of them. This is the email just in case there is any dispute of what happened. Our records indicate your service work order is complete. He was 4 hours late, but he did not communicate with me to let me know he was running late. He could not figure out what was wrong - he suggested it needed to be cleaned. I later found out the chimney was blocked and a pipe was not angled correctly. So he did not fix the problem.

I received a call from American Team to set up the appointment. The technician - TJ - called before arriving and arrived on time. TJ was polite and the problem was diagnosed and the work was completed quickly. The company had a truck that was properly outfitted and presented a good appearance. TJ had the parts needed for the repair on the truck and was polite, knowledgeable and friendly. Overall an excellent experience because of the way the Technician, TJ handled himself and represented his company.

We went through this company from our home buyers warranty. They were responsive and kind in our dealings but took advantage of homeowners who did not understand our HVAC system. Our heat was not working on one floor and they identified the problem as a zone control valve that needed to be replaced. This did not fall under our warranty so we paid out of pocket. The heat still did not work so they came back out and told me there was nothing they could find (the heat would warm up to about 63 degrees at times but not go any higher). Then a few weeks later our heat started making loud noises rattling through the house and a different emergency contractor came out and to our dismay we found THERE WAS NOT EVEN A VALVE REPLACED! And the main issue was there wasn't any water in the tank and it needed to be cleaned. American Team completely ripped us off and from seeing other reviews on here, this is a common theme for them. STAY AWAY.

American Team was assigned to the repair by American Home Shield (AHS) my warranty company. The outside condenser unit was having ice build up. American Team first came to my home early December for this same issue. At that time they diagnozed a leak of R22 refrigerant. They put 4lbs of R22 in @$50/lb and indicated pressure was good. Problem with ice build up persisted so Home Shield called them out again. Their diagnosis to Home Shield was replacement of air handler and evaporator coil as their were stains on coils indicating R22 leaks and thus poor heat exchange process (I acutally had this entire unit replaced in 2008). Home Shield authorized the replacement but indicated that there were non covered costs that I would have to pay totaling $1320. Non covered included among others air duct modifications $450 disposal costs $150. electrical modifications $150 etc. Meantime Home Sheild offered me a cash out value of some $752. As I was skeptical given my 2008 replacement, I called another HVAC contractor recommended by a friend. This fellow indicated that my vintage 2008 air handler was prone to early failures as the manufacters at the time used a pool copper alloy. He confirmed that he could not replace the unit at a price cheaper than $2,000 (the sum of the cash out and out of pocket costs I would pay) which gave me some comfort that between AHS and American Team I was not being taken for a ride. The repair team came out close to the end of the 4 hour window they agreed to. The lead repair guy it turns out is not an employee but a 1099 contractor to American Team. He had been working for American Team for many years in this fashion and maybe this is standard in this business since a repair service cannot keep installers on the payroll if there are not enough jobs to assign to them for 40 hours per week. I found it odd but it did not alter his knowledge or ability to install and get the unit working. The team completed the job in about 3 hours and did a good job of clean up. While I did pay the $1320 there was no duct modifications required on this job apart from putting silver tape around the duct to air hander connection. We are now in the midst of a very deep cold spell. I notice my outside condenser is still building up ice though not as thick as the old unit. I will monitor this for a few days and if it continues I will have to call them back out since this was what they were supposed to fix. I did communicate with a lady in the office to set up appointment times. She was attentive to my issue and set me up with an appointment that met my needs albeit with that 4 hour window. I did have some technical questions so she put me through to Bud who answered my questions in a professional manner.

American Team had two tasks. The GFI outlet was replaced. However, the service person immediately said that he would check with HSA Home Warranty and get back to me on performing he work. Never received a call and when I called American Team I was told the HSA would contact me to tell me that the work is not covered. There was no follow-up on whether I wanted the work done without the warranty coverage. There were not even interested. This company received $100 for changing a GFI outlet.

Stay away from this company! I had to use them because they were the company for my home warranty company. They tried to rip me off for an extra $250.00 to install safety eyes for my garage door opener. It would have taken maybe 20 minutes to do and the eyes were included with the new garage door opener. I called the company and they basically said "tough luck - that's what we charge." Very rude about it as well. Called National Home Warranty and told them what happened.
