We were very hesitant about going forward with the skylight project because the master bedroom has a beautiful cathedral ceiling, and the skylight was the architectural center of the room. Over the course of a year we had an extensive email conversation with Elaine and Bob, and they made two pre-installation trips from Wapwallopen PA to visit our site near Washington DC and research the options for us. We wanted a skylight shade that would easily open and close since we lliked to look out the skylight at night when we were not sleeping., and we viewed it as critical that any shade not adversely impair the architecture of the room. However, we felt it was also critical that we get a good night's sleep. We knew the project would be tricky; the first contractor we had interviewed refused to bid on the job after he appreciated its difficulty. During the course of our conversations Elaine and Bob did substantial research and found for us a new technology from Hunter Douglas which permitted a skylight shade and frame to have an unobtrusive but effective mechanism for opening and closing the shade (quietly) by remote control. We hired an electrician to put an electrical plug in the skylight, and then we gave Elaine and Bob the authorization to go ahead. The work was done in November, and cost $5200. The work succeeded far beyond what we had expected. The skylight shade and mechanism fits in beautifully with the architecture of the room, and by remote control operates very efficiently and quietly. We were so pleased with what Elaine and Bob had done that we decided to have them replace some bedraggled window shades in two small bedrooms with some elegant Hunter Douglas honeycomb shades. That work was done on December 12 for $2500. I can't praise Elaine and Bob enough for tackling a difficult job with such patience and effectiveness.

Our two experiences with Shades, Unltd., have been terrific--smooth and seamless from start to finish. Elaine and Sal are wonderful to work with--responsive, flexible, reliable, resourceful, not to mention courteous and extremely friendly. We recently had five windows in our Center City Philadelphia house replaced and were told by the window installers that our existing window treatments no longer fit (an expense we hadn't anticipated). Enter Sal, who not only spent a couple hours helping me select new treatments for our very tall (96and quot;) living-room windows, but also determined that our other existing treatments could, in fact, be reinstalled (I'm very glad we hadn't tossed them yet!). He kindly rehung them AND fixed the shade in our kitchen that had been installed (by another contractor) a bit wonkily--all at no charge. Needless to say, his honesty and expertise resulted in a significant savings for us, for which we are very grateful. When the window treatments for the living-room windows arrived, Sal installed them beautifully, and since he had a ladder with him, he even offered to replace a few lightbulbs that were out. He is a delight to work with, and I very much enjoyed chatting with him during his visits. For drapery and upholstery, Elaine is not only wonderfully knowledgeable but also a very quick study; from a brief telephone conversation with me, she was able to pinpoint fabric styles that suited my taste. After our initial meeting, she promptly arranged for samples to be sent to me of the fabrics I'd liked best, and she continued to search for possible matches, sending me additional swatches afterward--one of which I ultimately selected for the upholstery for our dining-room chairs. We could not be more pleased with the chairs; the new upholstery is exactly what we wanted and the craftsmanship is beautiful. Elaine, like Sal, is a pleasure to work with, and we cannot thank her enough for her expert advice, patience, and good cheer. In fact, Elaine currently is helping me select drapery fabric for our living-windows, and I have no doubt she will help me find the perfect fabric. We look forward to working with Shades, Unltd., in the future, and we would not hesitate to recommend their services.

From start to finish, Sal was a pleasure to deal with. The day he came to measure and show samples, he was patient with my lack of knowledge and experience in ordering window coverings. After questioning me on my needs and wants, he made suggestions and showed examples of how the finished products would look. The day he installed he went right to work, doing a great install of the products, which fit perfectly and look beautiful, and he finished the job by vacuuming and removing all trash from the job. I will use them again for other window coverings and will be happy to speak to anyone considering using Shades Unlimited.

SUPER SERVICE! I highly recommend this experienced, family business. Elaine and Bob Deluca are friendly, reliable, and responsive. Shades Unltd. wanted to please the customer. Elaine Deluca is not only a knowledgeable sales representative, she cared about finding the right blinds for me. I was looking for a hard to find shade of off-white. She ordered manufacturers vane samples in several stains. We even considered custom tinting the blinds and she gathered paint chips for me that might match my dand eacute;cor and even lent me a Benjamin Moore color fandeck. When I found a color I liked without having to custom tint, Elaine took the extra step of sending me a vane sample from the manufacture’s current stock to confirm the color. After Elaine’s initial sales visit, she and her husband Bob stopped by to confirm measurements, discuss details and answer questions. After many promptly replied to emails and many good ideas from Elaine, I selected wood blinds that I very much liked. Delivery was sooner than I expected and installation was expertly done by Bob. I don’t just have window coverings, but thanks to Elaine, I have blinds that are a decorative statement. Elaine communicated with the management of my Center City Philadelphia high-rise apartment building about the contractor’s rules and insurance requirements making that an easier part of the project for me. All paperwork—proposals, receipts etc.—were prompt, complete and professional.

The Deluca's were fantastic to work with. When we started the process we were not sure what type of blinds we wanted. Rather, we didn't even know if we wanted blinds. I set up, and cancelled, and set up the appointment a few times in a 24 hour period. The Deluca's were patient and flexible. They had no problems coming out to talk with us, even knowing that it may not result in a sale. When I contacted the company via email, the response back was almost immediate. Their service was timely, meeting with us within a week of initial contact. Bringing several samples, great recommendations were made on options. They would have installed the blinds within a few days of receiving them from the manufacturer but we were not available. They accommodated the first date I gave for our availability. They even called a few days later with additional thoughts on how we could apply a finished look to the largest blind's header. The blinds are gorgeous. I have at least one more room to do and I will definitely be contacting Shades, Unltd.

I had already used them. They were phenomenal. They were very responsive and they were ahead of schedule. I would recommend them to anybody.

For both projects the Delucas were extremely professional. They are a joy to work with. They thoroughly discussed all options with me. They questioned me extensively about my needs and wishes. They are current and knowledgebale about the materials of their trade. Ultimately they provided me, both for my home and commercial work, exactly what I was looking for with products that answered my needs, not theirs. Smart decisions, great advice. I have not worked with a more honest contractor than this family run business. They guarantee their work; they are reliable and efficient. They are truly genuine people, dedicated to their craft. Needless to say I could carry on...

We had several stages of our remodel. First was our upstairs children's rooms. Everything went well, we were not quite ready for installation and Shades Unltd. worked with our schedule. Meetings were at my convenience not theirs....which was great because I work a full time job. Willing to work on any day that worked best for the homeowner. Next was our master bedroom, had a hard time making decisions but with Elaine's help, I love every aspect of our master bedroom. She even helped with our paint selection. It takes a lot of time to do a job right and Shades Unltd really put every effort possible into the job.

WHEN I MOVED INTO MY NEW APARTMENT I WANT A WINDOW TREATMENT THAT WOULD BE MULTIFUNCTIONAL LET IN LIGHT WHEN NEEDED AND FILTERED OR BLOCKED IT WHEN NOT NEEDED, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME AFFORDING ME PRIVACY FROM THE STREET THE PLANTATION SHUTTERS FIT THE BILL AND I AM DELIGHTED WTIH THEM SHADES UNLIMITED TOOK THE PAIN OUT OF CHOOSING AND ORDERING. THEY HELPED ME MAKE MY SELECTION , LISTENED TO WHAT I SAID AND SUGGESTED JUST THE RIGHT ONES THAT WERE JUST WHAT I HAD IN MIND. AND THE COST WAS MOST REASONABLE (COMING IN UNDER THE ESTIMATED QUOTE) tHE INSTALLATION PROCESS WAS PAINLESS -- THEY WERE COURTEOUS, EFFICIENT AND PROFESSIONAL.
