We had used Sweet Success last year for refinishing our front porch railing and installing a new porch floor and gate. Since that job worked so well, we contracted with them again this year to paint the siding and extensive wood trim on our 3-story century-old home. But the job became a much larger one when Chris' testing revealed that what we thought were harmless siding tiles turned out to contain asbestos fibers and had to be removed, since scraping them as part of the painting preparation would release the asbestos fibers into the air. And so what we thought would be a painting job turned into a home restoration job that took about 4 weeks for Chris and his team to complete. They followed all appropriate environmental regulations in removing the asbestos siding. Chris worked closely with us to identify and purchase replacement fiber cement siding that would be appropriate for our house. Chris and his crew spent literally days scraping and grinding down the old layers of paint so that once painted, the wood trim looked like new wood. When they had to replace worn wood they finished and trimmed the new boards so they exactly matched the originals. When they ran into difficulty trying to apply the siding pieces to a wavy portion of the front facade, they problem-solved and put in the extra time and effort to ensure that the surface looked flat and no evidence of the difficulty of this part of the job was evident in the finished product! Our house has a lot of windows--a 7-window and a 3-window bay on the 2nd floor alone--and we have old storm windows that had to be re-painted as part of the job. They primed, scraped and re-painted some 33 window panes, and even planed and fitted them back into the windows at the end of the job. Chris and the team professionally and artistically applied a 3-color paint scheme to the house exterior. The lines were clean and straight and no stray paint marks/drips were left on the windows or painted surfaces. At our request they offered a couple suggestions to enhance the pattern of color application. We took them up on their suggestions and the results were great. We were also impressed with the safety measures Chris and his team took in protecting themselves from injury and our home and landscaping from collateral damage. They made extensive use of drop cloths on our porch, bushes, and even our sidewalks. The 6-person crew from Sweet Success was a group of very professional, highly-skilled craftsman who worked together well and cooperatively solved any problems they encountered. Crew members reported to work at 7:30 every day they were scheduled and did not require close supervision--they knew their jobs and appeared to take pride in their work. They worked steadily all-day, were always polite and helpful, and patiently responsive to all our questions and requests. They thoroughly cleaned up after themselves as they went along, as well as when the job was done. We cannot imagine a better group than this one to have working on your property. We couldn't be more pleased with this latest work on our house. Through Chris and the Team's efforts, we now have the loveliest-looking exterior of any house in our neighborhood. Now let's be clear: Sweet Success is not cheap but neither is their work. If you want terrific outcomes, and a job done correctly that will give you many years of enjoyment, use Sweet Success. By the way...we already have a job scheduled with them for next fall! Thanks again to Chris, Paul, Gregg, Jake, Curtis and KeAndre.

Great work. Crew on time, professional, and great cleaning up after work. The owner was thorough with evaluating the repairs that were needed. Job done right.
Description of Work: Exterior repair and paint. Deck refinish and repair.
Chris originally told me they would start at the end of September or beginning of October but, when there was a delay with another job, they actually started August 23. They always started at either 7 or 8 AM. There were usually five or six trucks in my driveway. I had a big project and odds and ends that took two weeks to complete. I have two decks, 18’ x 24’ and 12’ x 8’, that are about 27 years old. They were showing their age - some boards were loose, steps were no longer attached, one board was rotted, railings were loose, etc. The top layer of the pergola was in bad shape - the person who had previously power washed and stained for me just refused to get up there to do anything with it, so it was pretty black and disgusting. Chris advised that it would be a lot cheaper to just remove that layer, rather than sand it down and paint it. I didn’t need it for the shade so that’s what they did. He advised that instead of staining, to use Dock and Deck paint that should last at least 5-6 years without needing anything. They replaced deck screws, added supports (they even framed in a couple of supports on the main deck floor to make them look better), sanded all the wood and painted everything. They covered my plants while they painted. I have a plastic shed that was pretty dirty. I had tried to power wash it in the past but with poor results. Chris also tried power washing but then used his house cleaning formula and now it looks like new. They power-washed my sidewalks - what a difference! Nothing had been done with my garage since it was built in 1956. They repaired the holes in the drywall, removed old shelving, framed in the glass block window, covered an old air duct that was stuffed with bricks, installed attic stairs to provide access to the storage above the garage (until now I had to put up a ladder to a little door on the outside of the garage), added some flooring to prevent anyone from falling through, cleaned the garage floor, stained the cement block and painted the drywall. They installed new lighting, new shelving, a tool organizer, and a bumper pad. They even installed a tennis ball on a rope as a guide for parking. I’m no longer embarrassed for anyone to see the garage. My mudroom needed an overhaul. They repaired a cement step, painted the walls, ceiling, door, trim and floor. Chris was very helpful with color choice and types of paint. They removed the existing coat hooks and installed new shelving, A previous bad paint job had left white paint on red brick in several places. Chris was able to camouflage it with red paint. The doors on my shed weren't closing properly and the double door was pulling apart from the frame. Houston had to try several different things but I now have doors that open and close easily. The shed had some rot at the bottom so they put a cedar frame around the bottom - it looks like new. They hung my house number, sanded and painted the wrought iron railing, sanded and painted the front door step, and repaired a large crack in the cement that went from column to column (and did it in the original pattern). They painted the Hurricane door and steps leading to the basement. They replaced some stained ceiling tiles in my basement. I had a closet under my basement steps that had never been finished - the left side was brick and there was a post from floor to ceiling. They completely finished off the closet and even added cove molding for a better appearance. There was some very bad plasterwork at the bottom of the walls above my basement stairs. They repaired that and painted the walls a lighter color which made a big difference in the amount of brightness in the stairwell. I have a dusk to dawn light on a 14 foot pole that has been leaning at about a 10 degree angle since my daughter backed into it years ago. Chris was able to tie a rope around it and pull it with his truck to a near perfect upright position. All of the workers (Chris, Houston, Greg, Keandre, Jake, Paul, Chester) were very pleasant, respectful, answered all of my questions, and addressed my concerns. There were a couple of things that they said if they tried to fix them, they would come out worse, so they didn’t. The leftover paint was all labeled. I had a lot of sawdust and some plaster dust to contend with, but I expected that. Total cost was $24,842. It was more than what I originally envisioned for everything, but I hadn’t foreseen the need to sand down all the wood. Now my decks are like new, solid, and I’m happy with the color. Chris gave me advice on what to use to maintain the decks, instead of power washing. About 2 weeks after completion we had a heavy rain and one of the main deck floor boards popped up. Also, some lattice work became loose when I was blowing leaves. I called Chris and he came that weekend to correct both issues. It feels good to finally get a bunch of things taken off my to-do list! I had planned to attach pictures but apparently I can't do that on this site. If you want someone who’s going to show up and do what they promise, call Sweet Success Contractors.

Chris was upfront about his workload and concerned that he could complete my project when I needed it done. Even so they completed it sooner than I expected. He kept all appointments and kept me informed throughout. Chris and Huston were professional and knowledgeable and inspired confidence and trust. All the men that came to my house were personable, respectful, and had a good work ethic. The work itself seems to be of excellent quality. I feel very lucky to have found Sweet Success. Thank you Angie's List!

Chris and team are extraordinary! When they finished with their work, it was better than new and you couldn't tell that any work had been done. They are higher priced than some contractors, but the quality of the job is worth the extra money. They are timely, professional, do what they say they're going to do, arrive when they say they're going to arrive, and kept me informed throughout the process. I have hired them for many projects around my house for many years and I continue to be impressed by their work.
Description of Work: Plaster repair and painting of areas that were water damaged
The job went very well. My wife and I were extremely impressed with Paul & Greg's safety protocols. The work site was thoroughly contained. The three-day job was well-planned and execution was targeted and efficient. Paul & Greg were very personable, professional, and more than willing to explain processes that they were performing. Clean-up was thorough and timely. All-in-all a terrific experience, all things considered, and we would definitely recommend Sweet Success Contractors to others.

Sweet Success completed several jobs at the same time in June of 2019. The first three were small in scope, a repair to a ceiling with some water damage, a repair to a small section of wall in the stairwell between the first and second floors and patching, caulking and painting around the tub/shower in one of the bathrooms. These tasks were all performed professionally and with a level of workmanship that makes it almost impossible to determine where the area of work was completed. They do very fine work. The more complicated job was trying to identify the source of a water leak from a bathroom on the second floor. Opening the floor beneath, which happens to be in the kitchen revealed that the problem was somewhere in the shower. A different contractor had renovated the same bathroom about five years before, but several attempts by him and us to determine the nature of the water issue were never satisfactorily determined. As Sweet Success looked at the shower from below in the kitchen, they determined that the shower lining was not installed correctly under the tiles in the shower. The conclusion was that the only way to fix the issue was to gut the shower and because it is a small bathroom, we decided to gut the entire bathroom. There was no delay in the expansion of the project. They seamlessly went about taking things apart and working with us on what we needed to purchase and when. The job was complete in six days. You never want to hear that work you had done previously was done incorrectly, but if that does happen what you want is someone to come in to do the job right. Sweet Success will do the job right. It will be expensive, but I would much rather pay more to have something done correctly and feel confident in their work moving forward. They are extremely professional, arrived early every day by 7:15am, and work until the point where they could logically stop for the day. They did not come and go, they did not leave for other jobs, they stayed, they worked, they will be hired again.
Description of Work: Find the source of a leak coming from one of the bathrooms on the second floor into the kitchen ceiling. Mitigate the leak and do all necessary repairs to the bathrooms. Repair water damage to 2 ceilings. Repair damage to sheet rock in the stairwell.

Had two runs in the wall to repair - one where a gas line was run to a fireplace conversion, and one where the plumber replaced some water pipe along another wall and tugged on the connecting pipe, cracking the plaster. The walls had different surfaces (smooth and textured), and both look fantastic now - like they had never been damaged. They also used the leftover paint from when we painted the room to mix in the plaster without leaving any obvious color differences. They even trimmed the cabinet door where the cracked plaster was to better fit the new pipe length.
Description of Work: Repair plaster walls where piping was run
This project went extremely well, these guys are excellent. I've had drywall work before and I can tell you that the difference is obvious. Sweet Success left my walls and ceilings looking better than the original pre-damage. The crew is polite, organized, excellent at what they do and they work very hard. They are perfect for your home. I would not hesitate to give them keys to the house and have them do work when you are away, nothing will go missing. Hiring a new contractor, even with great reviews, is risky as so many are mediocre at best (even if they have great reviews). Sweet Success lives up to their excellent reputation. Don't hesitate to hire them.

I contacted Sweet Success as they have done excellent work for me previously. I was given options for the gate and the finished result was terrific. Due to all the rain, it took a while to come back to sand and paint but looks terrific. Always clean up after themselves. Highly recommend.

I was impressed with Sweet Success from my first interaction with owner Chris. He communicated clearly by phone and sometimes email, and he spent adequate time giving a detailed quote onsite. One thing I appreciated in particular was how he clearly pointed out areas of uncertainty (in terms of price or repair working needing to be done). When it came time for the work to be done, the Sweet Success Crew (lead: Paul, Greg, Keandre) did a great job. They worked clean and were very professional. The repair and ceiling replacement was very well done and looks as good as new! I’ll definitely call Sweet Success next time I need a contractor, and I’d highly recommend them to others.

I am so impressed with Chris and his crew. We had our front porch overhauled - new deck, railing, columns, steps, and structural repairs - in addition to repair of wall and door damage in a bathroom from my dog. Chris responded to my inquiry within 24 hrs and we set up a time to meet to discuss the project. He was prompt, knowledgeable, direct, and easy to understand, and put my worries and concerns to rest. Work started quickly, and although he gave a time frame of 2+ weeks for the project, work was completed in just over one week! His crew arrived on time each day, completely cleaned up, and did flawless work. It’s clear they really take pride in quality work. Chris and his crew inspire trust and confidence, and I look forward to working with them in the future!

It's a pleasure to work with Sweet Success, which is saying a lot about a three week long project! They are pleasant, very willing to discuss the job and answer questions. They arrive on time, and work steadily throughout a long day. They did everything possible to contain the mess of plaster dust and construction debris, and asked questions and explained unexpected additions to the work throughout the process. The end result is beautiful and functional - everything I had hoped.

Chris and his staff at Sweet Success are top notch! They do amazing work and are very professional. Highly recommended.
Wow! We can't say enough good things about Chris and his wonderful crew at Sweet Success Contracting. They are punctual, professional, and responsive. They do quality work and were really willing to go the extra mile with our projects. They were at our house every day for two weeks working on a variety of projects. We had two bedrooms remodeled, including removing a terrible ceiling made of paper tiles and replacing it with a plaster ceiling that looks so much better. New ceiling fans were installed well, walls were repaired, old carpet taken out, and painting was done. We discussed some additional work at the end of that week and they had time in their schedule the following week (and some unseasonably nice weather!), so we had that work done also. They pressure washed the house and removed mildew from our front door that I honestly thought was never going away completely. They repaired some water damage to our garage door frame and re-did some work that was poorly done by another company. They also pressure washed the patio above the garage and treated it with a paint that will block water from entering the garage. Some small carpentry projects were done both inside and outside too. I can't emphasize enough that this crew obviously cares about doing the work correctly and well. Also, they are meticulous about fine details and it makes a difference. They also do a good job of cleaning up each day and leaving your home in as useable condition as possible for while you have work going on.

Due to 2 separate leaks (roof and upstairs bathroom), I needed repair work done in 3 separate areas of my townhouse. I contacted Chris, he promptly responded and was able to come by that same day to inspect the damage and to give me an estimate. I appreciated the detailed explanations Chris gave me as to how exactly the repairs in each area would be done. Chris and his crew were skilled professionals and completed the work in less than 2 days, And they did an admirable job in cleaning up and returning my home to its original condition before they left. I am very satisfied with the top quality work that they did and I would definitely hire Sweet Success Contractors again!
Description of Work: drywall, interior painting, water damage and some mold remediation
Excellent job done by the team. The team were extremely professional, punctual, and caring about our house and the project. We couldn't have asked for a better result and we think the money was very well spent for the quality of the job. Only 3 people (Chris, Greg, Paul) were involved in this project which made it very easy to communicate. Greg and Paul were extremely competent and professional and went above and beyond to make sure we are happy with the end results. They also provided very useful input on design, material, paint, etc which was very helpful. I definitely recommend them for anyone who wants to have a top-quality project done by trustworthy, caring, professional team.

Our experience with Sweet Success could not have been more positive. We only needed a half day's work to repair some flooring issues, pressure wash our siding, and fix some other minor items, but it was late notice from us and we couldn't list our house until it was completed. Sweet Success was very responsive, reliable, and accommodating - they fit us into their busy schedule promptly, did a great job on the repairs, and even helped us with something that is a bit out of their scope: they cleaned a light fixture that required a ladder to reach - what service! We anticipate need some contracting needs in the next year and will absolutely use Sweet Success again.

Chris and his crew are helping to restore my faith that there are good contractors out there. I had a situation where there was a bad leak and structural damage to a brick building. Chris met me on New Years Eve day to give me an estimate and thoughtfully plotted out how to fix the damage. He was very willing to discuss options and kick around ideas with me to consider alternative approaches. His estimate was very fair and his experience with old buildings was clear. His crew was on-site within a week and did a great job on the repair. He's the guy I'll be calling for future repair work.

Chris did a wonderful job fixing a large hole in our older home wall. He gave us a quote up front after reviewing pictures and explained the whole process in detail. He even went out and bought paint to match our walls. It looks better than I had imagined! He was very responsive and professional the whole time. Thank you so much!!

This is the second time we have hired Sweet Success to repair the walls in our home. These guys show up on time, work hard and get the job done! We have been chasing the water damage problem to the chimney plaster for years. Chris was the first contractor I have dealt with to offer an intelligent solution. There is a lot of wood trim on the walls in our home which makes for a tedious paint job. These guys did a good job with keeping paint splatter off of the wood trim. The ceilings and walls are beautiful. We will be hiring them again.
Description of Work: We had the plaster walls and ceilings in 2 bedrooms repaired and painted. This may sound simple, but the ceilings were acoustic tile covering severely cracked plaster and there was water damage to the plaster on the chimney in the one room. The old ceilings were removed and new drywall installed. Hydraulic cement was applied to the chimney to prevent further problems. Plaster walls were repaired, primed and painted.
