Chris and crew did an excellent job. Work expanded once they got into attic and saw how many cracks there were in the wall in addition to the water damage. Chris suggested expanding the work to include repairing all the walls and repainting to make room cleaner and more presentable. I agreed, and they did an excellent job. In the basement, they replaced sections of drywall that were removed after a basement flooding a few years ago. They did an excellent job. I wouldn't be able to tell that the wall was repaired or that the trim was replaced if I didn't know where to look. They also used our old paint in the basement, so there was no need to repaint the entire basement.
Description of Work: Repaired water damaged ceiling and walls then fixed cracks and repainted entire attic room. Repaired drywall in basement from flood and repainted affected area. Also replaced removed trim.

Chris and his crew at Sweet Success accomplished phenomenal things with our mid-century modern home. When we bought the house, it had already been in decline for the last ten to fifteen years. The wooden front balcony, which was cantilevered through the second floor of the house, was rotted through. The basement had feet of standing water for a period of weeks or months. The second floor was covered in dark linen wall paper that had been there since the 60's. And don't get me started on the bathrooms. Every room in the house needed something. Most of the contractors we brought through seemed to get more and more nervous as the walk-through went on. But not Chris. He spent several hours in the house, walking from room room to room estimating each one on the spot. He said he could do a more accurate estimation if he was sitting right there in the house ? which makes perfect sense to me. He brought in his crew and they worked tirelessly each week to make real progress on the house. They hit every deadline we gave them and finished each room ? and many exterior portions ? to a level of quality that exceeded my expectations. They confidently tore apart the front wooden balcony, removed the old timbers, constructed and inserted new joists that extended 8 feet into the house, and sistered them into the floorboards of the house, before rebuilding the ceilings to conceal the whole thing. Before this job, I didn't even know what joists and sistering meant. But they walked me through each step of the process so I'd be informed about wha they were doing with my home. The new wooden balcony they created is built far better than the original. The new basement is a dream. The bathrooms were transformed from harrowing mouths of h*** into places you wouldn't mind spending time soaking in the tub. The walls of our home that they removed wallpaper from, patched, and painted look like they were machined by friggin' robots. These guys don't mess around. The only score I hesitated on with them is price ? but that's not because their prices were unfair for the quality they provide. Far from it. I'm a firm believe that you get what you pay for, and you'll likely pay a little more for Sweet Success. But what you get for that extra money is 10x the quality of their competitors. No question. Chris and the crew at Sweet Success realized the potential in our new home, and turned a unique fixer-upper into our dream home, where we intend to spend the rest of our lives. I have no doubt they can do the same for you.

Fully explained things at start and as it went along. Advised concerning design features and offered creative options. Advised us where to go to get various fixtures etc. Came promptly every day. Work crew were friendly and dependable and seem like really nice people whom you would want to have in your home on a daily basis! I really liked having the same people over the full job, which took over a month. While they were here, they noted a few other issues elsewhere in the house that needed to be addressed (which we already knew about but hadn't gotten around to having fixed--e.g., old worn out door going from basement to garage that did not close properly anymore). We agreed that they would fix those items too and it was so nice to have these collateral unexpected repairs/replacements done. Extremely high level of dependability and professionalism. After work was complete, they were extremely willing to come back to address odds and ends that came up (e.g., missed spot of paint or towel rack that came loose), and they came back in a timely manner. Couldn't have asked for better workmanship. My husband and I were extremely pleased with the results of the work.
Description of Work: Complete remodeling of large master bathroom and connected hallway plus other miscellaneous repairs in home.
I was completely satisfied with the work and professionalism that Sweet Success delivered. The project was on budget and on time, and our living spaces are now much more enjoyable and safe. I recommend Sweet Success and will consult them for future home renovations.
Description of Work: The provider was contracted to renovate two exterior balconies of a home built in 1895. All work was done to EPA lead laws and trash was hauled away. The following was addressed: exterior balcony paint removal, wall and ceiling resurfacing, repair to concrete floor with caulking, painting, grinding and scaling of metal rusted railing, application of rust converter, epoxy and painted like new!

Chris from Sweet Success met with me to provide a consultation for the work that I wanted to have done. He was punctual and professional and laid out a reasonable time-line for the work to be completed. All in all, we had Sweet Success paint a tall interior hallway, prime and paint some siding on the rear of the house, wash the mildew off the siding for the entire house, pressure wash a rear deck, clean some moss off of the roof, and clean the gutters. Chris and his team were out to complete the job within a couple of weeks and all work was completed in two days. Chris and the crew were prompt, courteous, and professional, and treated my home with care and respect. I will definitely call on Sweet Success again for any future work that may be needed.

Chris was very responsive from my first call and was able to come write an estimate right away. He explained everything that he would do to repair the damaged areas, and suggested I contact my home insurance provider because they would likely cover some of the damage. He wrote me up a clear estimate, separating out the work that would be covered under insurance from some additional work that it made sense to do at the same time. I wasn't quite ready to go ahead with the work at that time, but when I was ready he and his team were able to come out the same week. They went to work right away and in three days managed to completely transform a room that looked like it belonged in an abandoned house into a room I actually enjoy being in! By the end of the first day I was so glad I had had this work done. All the peeling paint was gone and the walls were being patched up and smoothed out. The whole crew was friendly and hard-working. They even took the time to temporarily fix the ventilation grate that was hanging off the side of the house, which may have been responsible for some of the water damage. The cost came in squarely in the middle of the original estimate. I definitely plan on hiring Sweet Success again for some other issues around my house.
Description of Work: Removed water-damaged paint and plaster, repaired and painted area. Removed failed paint, killed mold, skim coated and primed walls.

As usual with Chris, everything went fine. On time, work done within the time frame he specified. I would add that Chris is a most honorable business man. He will not try to talk you into anything you don't need - and will let you know when something does not need to be done. He stands by his work - if something isn't right, he fixes it. Several years ago he painted the entire interior of my house. His work has been solid and I will continue to use Sweet Success in the future.
Description of Work: Completely stripped wrought iron porch railings/columns, primed, and painted. Also stripped, primed and painted porch ceiling and outer wood. Concrete caulked where porch floor meets brick of house, cleaned and fixed gutter leak. In bathroom, recaulked poorly installed acrylic tile wall (he did not do original installation), replastered and repainted. Also replastered and repainted a couple of other areas of slight damage.
The estimate was scheduled for a few weeks after my initial call, with a promise that he would call the day before to confirm the exact time of his arrival on the agreed upon day. This was true and he arrived well within that window. He was all-business, which is fine, looked at all the projects I was interested in having completed and then wrote out an estimate. His prices were a bit higher than we'd hoped (thus the B grade there) but we appreciated his straight-forwardness and felt confident that he cared about the quality of his work, something that after some negative experiences with others, we realize is worth paying for. He had an opening in his schedule and began the work almost two weeks later. He and his team were great, professional and friendly and did excellent, efficient work. The kitchen ceiling patch looks better than the other professionals who had originally done the work. His estimate had given a range for best and worst case scenario and our final bill came in right in the middle of that. Some items were completed at the lowest estimated cost, while a few others were added on as he worked and saw problems that should be corrected and took the initiative to do those. We had asked if there were any ways to shave some money off the bill and he gave the option to paint our steps ourselves, which will save a few hundred dollars. He was nice enough to detail how we should do this and what we should use. After many frustrating or simply disappointing experiences with people working in and around my home, contracting people generally leads to some stress on how it will all go. I really appreciate the quality and professionalism of Sweet Success and would use them again, stress-free.
We had contacted Chris a while ago with our to-do list of outside work and he was waiting for a time when there would be dry weather! He contacted us the week of the 16th and said he would be there on the 21st and true to his word, showed up early on the 21st! My wife had an eye doctor appointment, but having used Chris before, we left him an open door an went about our business! By the time we returned, Chris and his daughter had finished all of the list I had left and than some! There was a problem near the back door with separation of the patio and it was totally repaired as well as the broken cement around the gas grill. Totally pleased with Sweet Success and Chris and will call whenever i have work that fits in his expertise
Description of Work: This past winter has been very h****** the outside of my home! We had front steps needing cement repair and cracks along the cement driveway and porch also the calking between the base of the house and the sidewalk as well as our front yard wall had deteriorated!

Chris clearly explained that the estimate could not outline all of the damage underneath the siding. Chris provided clear and creative solutions to multiple problems to repair the damage while keeping an eye on the overall cost. The team was super-professional and careful with their equipment and with my outside furniture. I would happily rehire them for any job.
Description of Work: Power washed and repaired concrete and vinyl fascia. Repaired & replaced wood siding.
In the midst of an incredibly stressful time for our family, Sweet Success was beyond helpful. We were prepping our parents' house for sale after our dad died and mother moved into assisted living. We wanted the house to look as new as possible for sale, and it needed some work to get it there. The owner of Sweet Success was incredibly understanding of our needs and did his utmost to accommodate us. He and his 2-person crew completed all the work - no parade of different folks - as the 3-4-week job was completed. The house looked GREAT when the job was done and it sold in a month at an excellent price. It's taken us awhile to get this review done, not for any dissatisfaction, just never getting around to it in the midst of everything else that has gone on between then and now. None of us live in the area, but we would certainly call on Sweet Success again if we did. We highly recommend them to anyone in their service area!
Description of Work: One of the reasons we called Sweet Success in the first place was that they could do everything we needed to have done. Sweet Success covered all of the following: • drywall repair of some significant scratches and cracks, • interior painting - entire 2-bedroom, 2-bath home, • exterior painting, gutter repair and cleaning, pressure washing, • plumbing - including replacement of kitchen sink and garbage disposal • electrical - primarily outlet replacement to bring house up to code • carpentry - including exterior door repair And they even hauled some trash away for us!

I want to fairly explain why I rated this contractor with an F. I called them on 7/14 to schedule an estimate for our whole house interior painting. I was told by Chris that he could not come for an estimate until August 2nd due to the area where I resided. We were in no hurry to complete painting since we were scheduling two other projects to be done before so I scheduled the estimate. We were inviting multiple painters to give us bids, so I felt no urgency to have all esitmates done by a certain time.Chris also could not give me a time he would arrive until the Friday night before, therefore I kept the day open. Chris called on July 29th and left a message that he was now booked for the next few months so he may not be able to accommodate a two month timeframe, of which we were not committed, so I was fine. I called him back that day and left a message that we still would like to keep the appointment and could he call us with a time so we could plan our day. On July 31st he still had not called us back to confirm so I had no idea if he intended to keep the appointment. This is two days before scheduled appointment. I called him again and he confirmed getting my message and proceeded to tell me that they were now booked almost through the rest of the year and it would not be until the Holidays until they could do the work. This all happened in two days? I had kept my weekend open and he did not have the courtesy to call us the evening of the 30th to let us know? At this point it was apparent he was not interested in the job, so I just told him not to bother with the appointment. I have no problem if somone is not interested in pursuing a job, but he should have let us know long before the 31st . This was inconsiderate and unprofessional. We've contacted other painters and they all were at our house within three days to give estimates. I would not call this contractor in the future.
Description of Work: We ended up not even having him come for estimate.

company policy is to always return calls with in 24 hrs.(week ends an exception) and to allways be honest and strait forward about booking back log and job time frames, look at our 320 reviews and you won't a complaint about double booking. Every one should know that this is our busy season and a delay is to be expected providing estimates, furthermore our back log usually advances and rarely declines. This person seamed to take our scheduling personally rather than what it is very fluid. I personally talked to this person three times, and he called me moments before I would have called him any way,he did not receive poor service in any event. As to the claim that we didn't want his business, it should be understood that he cancelled the estimate not I,and if i don't think I can help someone it doesn't take me three calls to do it.People who know me understand me to be extremely strait not desiring to waste time.

We simply don't serve her area, why I get a c grade for this confounds me.
Chris and his crew did an excellent job. Chris first gave us great ideas during the initial walk through, and was able to be flexible with our schedule. For the job, they did a great job removing wallpaper border, repairing the wall, and painting in our dining room. The main job was the kitchen though. We wanted all of our cabinets, including the island, to go from brown oak to white, without the grain showing through. They took everything off, sanded it down, applied primer and 2-3 coats of paint, and put everything back. It looks great. This was all they were originally supposed to do, but we added on more and more and they were very happy to complete them, and at a very reasonable cost. They added new handles/knobs to all cabinets, replaced the hinges, replaced our kitchen light fixture, patched and painted the ceiling where the holes were, and cut 2 doors for us that were rubbing after getting new carpet. They even made 2 trips to home depot for us. They did an excellent job keeping the mess contained to where they were working, and did a very thorough cleaning after. They also gave us a number of tips and pointers for the future and to take care of our new look kitchen. The only thing that would have been better would have been a little more notice on when they were coming, but I understand that they go from project to project and was warned in advance this may be the case. Overall, they did an excellent job, and this was our 3rd time using Sweet Success. Also, the final price was exactly what was quoted, plus the additions we made. We will definitely use them again in the future.

Initially I was searching for someone to remove wall covering in a kitchen and a powder room. Sweet Success came up as highly recommended. In the meantime I also discovered that they did exterior painting. I called the owner , Chris Dallaba, and gave him my needs. His interest quickly faded when I told him that this particular property was in Forest Hills. He stated that he was focused on higher end quality properties. At that point the conversation was terminated.
Description of Work: This provider made it known that he is only interested in high end jobs. He was less than pleasant to me on the telephone.

When the customer informed me that he wanted work done on rental property, I told him that we primarily do high-end residential work. In my 14 years of experience, the vast majority of landlords are focused on price rather than quality and customer service which is what we specialize in. I made no reference to "only working on high-end properties" or to not working in Forest Hills, as quoted. We do, however, work primarily for customers who want both high quality and personalized customer service. I do try to be honest with everyone I speak to so as not to waste their time. And for the record, when the customer realized we were not a good fit, he stated, rather abruptly, "I guess we don't have any more to talk about," and hung up.

Chris responded to our phone call the very next day and we made an appointment to have him come to our home for an estimate. The initial estimate was between 1500-2200 and he let us know that there could be additional costs if he found additional damage, once he started to work on the project. I spoke with some friends , who had similar experiences, and they confirmed that this is consistent with their experience, with this type of repair. Chris was very professional from the outset, providing us with a portfolio of other construction jobs he had performed on similar, older homes, such as ours , in the Pittsburgh area. We decided to hire him for our ceiling project. Chris estimated that the repair would take approximately 1.5 days and he showed up on time every day, like clockwork. On the first day he found that there would be a need for additional work. He walked us through the fact that there had been a leak in this ceiling area in the past. He showed us where the problem was, how the previous owner covered up the problem instead of repairing it properly (this did not surprise us) and what he needed to do to provide us with a quality repair. The additional work involved rebuilding the entire base woodwork, since it had been rotted by the water damage. In addition,we asked if he could do something with the remaining ceiling, which my wife had hired a friend, in need , to repair a couple of years ago, since it was obvious that it was not a professional job. Chris worked up an estimate for the additional repairs that totaled up to 1075 and let us know that the project would now take 3 days total. We agreed and put our trust in him to make our dining room ceiling look like new. As Chris dived into the job he also found that there was about a 2" difference in the height between the damaged ceiling piece and the remaining ceiling, not damaged by the water leak. This height difference, we understood, was significant. Over the next 3 days, Chris worked painstakingly in rebuilding the rotted foundation wood, as well as closing the substantial gap difference between the two ends of our ceiling; truly working inch by inch to make the entire ceiling level. Chris is not the type of professional who will win points with a winning smile, he is a straight shooter who simply tells you what the problem is and what he has to do to make it right. After 3 days of work on our dining room ceiling,I can't begin to tell you how happy we are that we entrusted Chris with our home. The final result of Chris' work was a pristine, high quality ceiling that looked as if it had been torn down and rebuilt in its entirety. I never imagined that our dining room ceiling would ever look this good! I encourage all who read this review to consider Chris and even if his quote might be a tad higher than others. I can assure you that your hard earned money will be well spent.

The job provided to me by Sweet Success Contractors went very well. He is very professional. He prices things on a range, which I think is good. If things go well, you pay the lower end of the range, and if he runs into stuff that's unpredictable, which happens in this kind of work, then you pay the higher end of the range. I think it's far, the way he does it. I've used him in the past, as well.

They were there early in the morning, and started promptly. Chris was able to do the work on my day off, so I didn't lose any work. They kept the carpet in the living room and the bathroom floor covered. They cleaned up after the job. They replaced the plumbing for the tub and installed my new tub/shower fixture. They even removed the old tub (cast iron) and the old drywall. I was extremely pleased with how knowledgeable the 2 plumbers were. They noticed my light switch in the bathroom didn't work all the time. They asked if I would like to have it replaced. I told them I had other switches, which were original for the house, that also did not always work. They replaced 6 switches for me. One was totally broken and a fire hazard. So I was grateful they mentioned it. It would of been something I would not of immediately replaced and could of had a fire.
Description of Work: I had a bathtub removed and a new bathtub installed. They also tore out the tub surround and drywall and installed cement backer board for ceramic tile installation. (which we will do ourselves) The two plumbers installed all the proper plumbing and installed our new toilet. They also replaced 6 electric switches in the house.
