Following a rewiring project that involved removal of decades old carpeting, our realtor advised us to ask Calabrese Flooring to refinish two hallways and two staircases of battered and somewhat creaky oak and pine floors. The result was excellent. Rich Calabrese transformed these areas from eyesores to beauty spots. In the process, he alerted us to structural issues hidden by the old carpeting, worked with our structural engineer and contractor to design sound and attractive repairs, and concocted stains that matched multiple vintages of flooring. Rich’s combination of technical skill, cooperative work style, and keen eye for color and design makes us happy to recommend Calabrese Flooring.

They were very professional. During the estimate they were very knowledgeable about the various choices. I wanted a floor that matched the rest of the house (an 1898 Victorian with mostly original floors). They scheduled the work within a couple weeks of sending the deposit (1/2 total cost). They arrived as planned. The work required moving furniture and appliances, which they did. Furthermore they made an effort to keep the kitchen useable during most of the work (it was only unavailable when it was being finished). The work was very well done, and I'm quite picky. They clearly have a lot of experience. I would certainly use them again.

Paul came right out and provided a reasonable estimate to refinish my wood floors. A few weeks later the work was done, with the team pulling up my old carpeting, and refinishing the oak floors. They added oak edging to meet my ceramic tile, and everything was professionally done. Dust was minimal, and the floors look like new. It took a total of two days from start to finish. I would recommend this company!

Never got a chance to see their work so cannot comment on that aspect. Called them and set up appointments 4 times and they never showed for estimate. I actualy visited the location once too. Only called me back once but did not show after.

After shopping around and receiving outrageous quotes from salespeople who didn't know much about floors or the installation process at other companies, we called Calaberse Flooring. We expected to make an appointment for the following week, but Paul came and visited the same day that we called. It was clear that he had a great deal of experience and knew his business well. He was even able to answer questions about the existing hardwood floors in other parts of the house. He measured the rooms and provided a quote on the spot. We visited his showroom to see colors and product lines in more depth, but ended up going with one of the samples that he had brought with him on his initial visit. We placed an order, and he called a few days later to arrange delivery. On the day the materials came, he and his team removed the old carpeting, padding, and tack strips, then delivered the boxes of wood. They were very efficient and were done with the job very quickly. After the materials acclimated and it was time to install, the same team came back. They worked quickly, efficiently, and completed the job ahead of schedule. Paul was accessible and responsive throughout the process and made sure that he followed the team's progress through the job. The floors look beautiful, and it was a quick and easy process. We would definitely recommend Calabrese flooring!

There was old termite damage that had previously been "repaired" by filling the holes with concrete, plus several areas badly stained from pet urine. All had been carpeted over for many years. They did the work before we moved in ... replaced several boards, then sanded, stained and applied polyurethane. The result is beautiful ... and we would highly recommend them.

Paul Callabrese was very receptive, punctual, and easy to speak with. He provided an estimate for a home we are refurbishing. The work included a total of 4 rooms, large staircase, landings, and hallway to have old carpeting removed and new hardwood floors installed. He provided a competitive estimate. Although we did not use him, it was not an easy decision. He came very highly recommended. While we did not have work done by him, our initial experience was very positive.

really excellent work by the calabreses. paul missed our first appointment for an estimate, but was on time for the second one. his quote was about $1300 cheaper than another i had received, so i was a little skeptical. however, his timeline matched ours, so we went with it. floors look amazing now. they did nearly the entire first floor and about 60% of the second floor. i can't find any dust or damage to baseboards and the guys were very friendly and professional. i was also a little nervous because he only provided a verbal estimate, but the cost was the same when it came time to pay. anyhow, i am now having my kitchen tiles done by them because i was so happy with the work.

The crew of 3 guys arrived around 7:30AM on the first day. They started sanding that day and about halfway through they applied a few test coats of the stains we choose on the floor. Once I selected a stain they resanded those areas and finished the rest of the sanding. After sweeping and vacuuming the small amount of dust they began staining the floor. The 2nd day they arrived mid-afternoon to ensure the stain had completely dried. The 1st coat of polyurethane was applied that day. The 3rd and final day they hand sanded the floor with a fine grit and applied the final coat of polyurethane. Calabrese flooring employees were very professional and punctual.

We highly recommend Calabrese flooring for refinishing hardwood floors. Paul Calabrese came out and did the estimates very quickly for a house we had under contract for purchase. Once we closed, he and his crew were able to start work within a few days and finished in a week. When sanding the old floors, they kept the dust under control and cleaned it up. There were a few spots of surface artifacts here and there once the floors were done, which we pointed out to Paul. He came back and took care of the spots. The floors look great! Everyone compliments them and they made the whole house feel like new. Calabrese also patched several holes in the floors, including a couple large (can lid sized) ones. Plus, they replaced a broken tile in our entryway. The crew came early in the morning, went right to work, and even worked the weekends.

We have lived in several old homes and had our floors refinished three to four times. Calabrese Flooring did the best job we have ever experienced. Their attention to detail is outstanding. Additionally the process produced very little dust. Removal of some of the old flooring in the bathrooms required much more time and effort than they anticipated, however they never asked for additional compensation. They did the work as promised, it was a pleasure working with them and the results are beautiful.

Mr Calabrese was a pleasure to work with. He had excellent recommendations, a fair price, was timely, and did quality work. The finished product was just beautiful and I received many compliments on it from friends and family. The team of workers were punctual and polite and did a great job leaving the house in good order and cleaned up. I could not be happier with the excellent service, workmanship and products i receive from Calabrese Flooring!

Paul definetly knows his stuff. His estimate was fair, however I did not feel comfortable hiring him as he could not provide me a written estimate. He was not willing to send an estimate via email.

Two years after ceramic tile floor was installed in our kitchen, grout is breaking down and while floor looked nice initially, this did not last. Would not use them again.

The crew arrived when they said they would and did a fine job. They were very respectful of our property, kept the dust to a minimum by having the vacuum outdoors, and very thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. They replaced boards where necessary due to termite damage or prior renovations, and installed quarter-round to finish. All in all, we were very satisfied with every aspect of the work done and the people involved, and our floors are beautiful!

Crew arrived on time, moved furnishings out of the way and began sanding. Completed all sanding and 2 coats of finish by the end of day 1, came back on day 2 to do a light sanding and apply finish coat. Between all the moved furniture and the fact that it took 4 hours of drying time, the house was difficult to live in for a day and a half. They set up fans and cranked up the heat to speed drying time, and also managed to contain and clean up dust as they were creating it pretty much. On Monday, after the weekend, they returned to replace furniture where it belongs.

Came on time for our meeting to get an estimate and for the two days it took to do the work. Provide the service they stated they would - but really went beyond - they were to sand the stairs to remove decades of varnish and restain and varnish the floor. They did that - plus added some quarter round to the landing and on two steps so "hide" gaps between the stairs and the riser and between the wall and the landing. They were also very selective in picking the stain - and it blends in perfectly with the hardwood floors. They cleaned up after themselves - vacuuming most of the dust - there was a bit left on the one windowsill for the window located high up on the landing - can't blame them for missing that one. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Withou being at all pushy, Paul Calabrese was very helpful in advising us on our choice of wood, color, width and manufacturer. As our subfloring is concrete, conventional hardwood flooring couldn't be installed. We selected an 11-ply engineered wood manufactured in North Carolina that was glued onto the concrete flooring. For the stairs (which were made of wood) they first reinforced and screwed down the existing treads which eliminated most of the squeaking. Installation consisted of sawing off the front of the treads and replacing them with manufactured "nosings" in Santos mahogany and installing the engineered wood over the rest of the tread. The end result is that the floors look fabulous! Shortly afterwards there was a minor problem and they came immediately and took care of it. This is a family owned and operated business and they are flooring experts. This is all they do and they must be pretty good as they have been in business since 1937.

I liked the flooring that they carried. I also liked their Angie's List rating. That was helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending them. They were very good.

Mr. Calabrese came to our house to review the project and brought tile samples. Floor was installed in a timely manner.

They did not tell me that they do not fill nail holes. I've had hardwood floors done in the past and they did, but they didn't tell me that. They also fought with me on what color stain I wanted to use. It wasn't a totally good experience, but the quality of the sanding and finishing was nice.

The work turned out ok. The work turned out well, but they did not finish the trim on the hardwood floors near the fireplace. I would consider using them again.

Paul was the only contractor of 4 called who actually came out to our house, quoted the job and was helpful with suggestions. Job was completed by his crew (3 men) in two days with a third day visit to install the quarter rounds in less than an hour. The crew was polite, called us to view a choice of stains after sanding (we went with a clear finish) and cleaned up everything to perfection. We were delighted with the results, and have received many compliments. (Also, we were happy to have Paul install the carpeting for the stairs and upstairs hall the following month.)
