B J Tree Service LLC

We had used B J Tree service before when we first moved into our house in 2005 to have a hemlock tree removed right next to the house and they had done a very nice job. That is why we called them back. They put us on the schedule after putting a 10% deposit down. A day before they were to take the tree down we received a call to let us know that we were on the list for the next day. We had a lot of rain that day so they had to complete a job before they got to us. I wasn't home when they arrived but had a chance to stop by while they were there. They had most of the tree down and were finishing up the main part. They all worked extremely well together as a team which is important since it is a dangerous profession. Once the tree was removed they began to grind the stump and surface roots. I had to go back to work so I wasn't able to be there when the completed the job. When I got back home after work everything was cleaned up and the ground where the tree was taken out was raked out. We had no cleanup after the tree was removed. I certainly would have them back if we had other trees to be pruned or removed and I certainly would recommend them to anyone who needs work done.

This was the second time we have used this service and could not have been more pleased. The yard is an ongoing project and I plan to use them again in the future.

REFRESHINGLY DIFFERENT! After visiting Angie's List to find a reliable tree service, I called B J Tree Service. Real person answers the phone. Real person asks and answers intelligent questions. In a short time two of the owners visit to provide a detailed conversation and written estimate of the price and approximate start date. I signed the contract and wrote a deposit check. Real person Wendie and I talked about the phone tag/answering machine problems with most tree services, and the pleasant surprise it was to learn that, most of the time, B J Tree Service actually has someone in the office to answer the phone. A couple of days before the start date, I get a confirmation of the start time. Full crew with all equipment arrives 20 minutes early, completely ready to start the teamwork that was evident on every aspect of the job. These gentlemen have accomplished more work by 9:30 AM than many contractors do by lunchtime. In the beginning the job seemed overwhelming to me. Shortly thereafter I realized that it was a very routine, step-by-step project for the B J crew because of their years of professional experience. Trees were down, jobsite was raked clean, logs were cut and stacked. Finished before lunchtime. AMAZING!

They arrived on time and when to work. The locust tree in the front yard was pretty much under the power lines and access to the tree was difficult. They handled the problem well and without incident. I had various people who were interested in the wood and they neatly stacked the logs by the street. They even assisted my senior neighbors to take some small logs for their fireplace. They trimmed the Mimosa in the back - also without incident and directly beside my new 5 ft aluminum fence. Cleanup was fantastic. Now two spots in my yard look clean! It was a pleasure to talk and work with both Wendy and Scott. All involved were professional and did a great job. I think I got them from Angie's List. They were very professional because when I called them, the lady was precise and they need the information, and she let me know how long it will take that I will be on the waiting list. When they came out to give me an estimate, they called me ahead of time. They communicated. It's an A to me when you keep up with the customer and communicate.

B&J trimmed some trees and bushes in the front and back of our house. They did a great job overall on the trimming. My only concern is that since we had gotten a lot of rain, my ground was soft. They had to use a truck with some heavy equipment that left a hole in my front yard that later had to be filled. I should have asked them to come back and fill it, but I didn't , so we ended up taking care of it ourselves.

We couldn't have been more pleased with BJ's than we are. The actual tree / stump removals along with associated clean-up work was done professionally and with great skill. Equally as important was the service, courtesy and friendliness of the workers. Their positive, engaging attitude made the entire process all that much less disruptive than it could have been.

I received an estimate in July. After sending the non-refundable deposit in, I heard nothing at all. After 30 days I sent an email for an estimated date of service. It went unanswered. After a 2nd email went unanswered, I called and was told it would be 2 to 3 weeks. After 30 more days the branch fell. I called again at the 8-week mark, I was told 8-10 weeks wait is normal

The crew showed up on time with a bucket truck, a large capacity wood chipper, a second truck with a crane for lifting large items and a mammoth stump grinder. Each crew member was friendly, acted professionally and knew exactly what they were supposed to do. The trees branches were not only intertwined with each other but had two sets of electrical wires running through them. Additionally, the trees were very close to the underground gas and water lines - and in fact BJ Tree Service was the only company I spoke with who were confident that they could work safely around the buried lines and still grind the stumps and all of the annoying Silver Maple roots. I watched the whole operation and was amazed at how quickly and efficiently the crew worked and could tell immediately that they were all highly experienced. Each crew member knew exactly what they were supposed to do and knew how to work together safely. The branches that were intertwined with the electrical wires were removed first and then the rest of the upper branches were cut. The Silver Maple had three large trunks which were cut into 3-4 foot lengths and then each was dropped safely to the ground. Before I knew it, all that was left were the stumps. Next, the grinder was used to grind the stumps and get rid of the pervasive roots left by the Silver Maple, which had taken over the entire yard. This took longer to accomplish than it did to cut the trees down, but I was left with a completely root free front yard for the first time since I moved in. The clean-up was very thorough and if not for the bare areas of ground that were 'de-rooted' by the grinding machine, you would never know that BJ Tree Service had even been there. Before having my trees removed, I was very concerned about all the bad things that could happen with an operation such as this - broken utility pipes - damaged roof and/or gutters - injured and/or electrocuted workers - broken outdoor lighting - broken windows - trampled bushes - damaged electrical wires. You name it, I worried about it. After watching BJ Tree Service do their work though, I can assure you that you won't have to worry as long as you choose them as your tree removal service provider.

I have used BJ Tree Services once before and was very pleased with their work. I immediately went back to them when a large limb broke off from my neighbors tree and landed on my small maple on my hillside. The branch extended from property on my neighbors side as well as my area. I called BJ Tree Services and Scott Mack came out to my home for an estimate. The "team" of Bill and Paul arrived at my home promptly on July 30, 2013, and immediately went to work in the removal process. Both men were very professional and explained what they were going to do before they started with my order. Since my neighbor gave them access to his yard for part of the removal, they made sure all areas of his property were clean. My area was cleaned and you would not have know upon looking that this was a work area with limbs, leaves, branches and grape vines. Now, I have used BJ Tree Services twice in the last few months, and would not hesitate in calling them again should another problem occur in the future.

This is the second time I have used their service (I have tried out 2 other tree companies), and I will continue to only use them. First, they bid the job, not the neighborhood. I collected a few bids for the work - 6990 from BJ, a bid for 9500, another for 10800, and another company said the job was too big. The job was conducted in two phases because they needed a crane to get out the trees from the back of the yard. Second, they sent out the right the crew in two ways: 1. the correct size to drop, and remove 3 trees in the back of the property in a day and a half, 2. beyond professional, each and everyone, polite, respectful of our questions and concerns about everything from the health of the tress to traffice flow. These guys came prepared to work, and boy did they work. They even came prepared with their own needs for drinks (I kept offering). Third, skilled. It was an aerial dance, and quite entertaining, to watch them cut huge limbs and watch them drop and swing from the crane, never endangering anything from our flower beds to the neighbors homes and fences, which these large limbs spread over. Fourth, they had everything they needed, such as the plates to put down on my yard so as not to damage anything when they drove the boom truck up on my yard, to containing all the mulch created when grounding down the stumps. Lastly, they left my yards cleaner than when they arrived.

We miscalculated (ordered too much) and Mack Mulch was great about adjusting our order on the fly!

The service turned out fine. We had no issue and they had reasonable prices. They service was really good.

They have always exceeded our expectations as to promptness, courteous when speaking on the phone and when the crew was doing the work. I will continue to recommend them to anyone who asks and when the need arises we will have them do any tree service that we need.

They were a little expensive and I thought he hacked up the tree. They started one day and came back three days later to finish the job.

They are good. They did a lot more than they were supposed to and cleaned up really well. I think they did an excellent job.

They came at the time they said they would, and finished sooner than expected. They removed a 100 foot dead tree without damaging the fence that was right below it. All materials were removed, and the only sign that they had been there was a stump (which we told them to leave). All workers were professional and polite.

Excellent job, on time, reasonable cost, thorough, dependable. A local business that I can trust without question.

The company did an excellent job in performing the service. I initially called them in mid-late June to see if they were available to perform the service. They called back and set up an appointment for one of their service providers to come and take a look at my property. He provided me with a bid at the conclusion of his review and his priced was 50% less than what my landscaper wanted to perform the same service. I was floored!!! I accepted and went to their place of business to give them a deposit. This was late June. I was told that they were extremely busy and that it could take a month before they were able to perform the service. I was in no hurry but they surprised me and came by within 2 weeks and completed the work in about an hour. The work exceeded my expectations and I am trying to find things for them to do!!!

The owner, the team and everyone was very professional. They came as stated and the worked carefully. They cleaned up every bit of debris.

The experience was great. On calling, I was pleasantly surprised that they could deliver same day. Within hours of the call, three cubic yards of mulch showed up. The mulch was finely textured -- it appears to be output from their tree service -- and was in good condition. As they are sourcing their own product, a number of other product options, such as mushroom compost, are not available. The price per yard was roughly comparable to other services, as was delivery. Regardless, I plan on using their service again.

Scott, the owner, was very prompt in coming to give us an estimate which was very reasonable. The work was performed 2 weeks after we gave him the job, as promised. Scott and the crew came at 8:15 am and the employees continued to work until 2:30 pm. Everything was completed in a very professional manner and the workers were polite. They cleaned up the yard to perfection when they were done. We were very pleased with the whole experience and would definitely use B J Tree Service again.

These people did a great job for a reasonable price. They were quick, professional, and cleaned up after themselves. I am very pleased with their work! Originally, I asked for just the p**** willow to be taken care of. When I realized that it was only going to cost me $250, I asked about having them remove the 2 huge old scraggly ugly cypresses. They only charged me an additional $25.

The written estimate was among the lower ones I received. The estimator was pleasant and friendly, explaining all the work that would be done. The workers arrived at 8 AM on the dot, as promised. The work was performed quickly and professionally. All the cut limbs were taken away and my yard was spotless when they were finished. A quality company from start to finish.
