Had the company repair a leaky roof, dormer, and install windows. Not a good experience at all. Workers showing up unannounced to work on or dormers. 1 day notice for the window installation. Had to remind the crew of work that was supposed to be done. Window installer mentioned that 1 of the windows was defective and said he contacted the manufacturer for a replacement. The company would be in contact when the replacement arrived. It is approx 1 month since installation and i can not get a response back from anyone at this company. I've emailed several times and called the office. The defective window now is cracked. Good luck trying to get a response back from anyone at this company. Stay away from this place.

Inks completed the enclosure with stucco-look hardy board and Tudor-style trim that complement perfectly my 1936 Tudor house. I was very pleased with the appearance of the work and the professionalism of the company. I would definitely hire them again.

Not an especially big project but one that is important, as I wanted to make my home as water-proof as possible. We shall see in the coming months, particularly the spring, if other work may be needed. However, I am a nit picker and the work passed my inspection; in fact it was awesome. Ed was able to get to my job while the scaffolding was still up, as I do not want ladders on my new brickwork for at least 4-6 months and the promptness of doing the work saved me a lot of anguish. I am very happy!!
Description of Work: I just had part of a bowing brick veneer wall replaced and the two windows on that side needed some attention, including covering with metal. I wound up having six windows covered with metal and the contractor also fixed a gable cover that was likely allowing water to come in when we have wind-driven storms.

This was a Very Bad experience. Inks Installations constructed a deck roof at my home in October 2014. I have been trying to get Inks Installations to correct the problems that the deck roof has caused to my home for over the past 1 and ½ years. My calls, emails, and certified letters have been ignored. The deck roof that Inks installed on my home was grossly different from the Inks Contract that my wife and I signed. Inks also charged us $400 for a drawing that we were never allowed to see. Inks Installations constructed a Square 12 foot by 12 foot Deck Roof that was not in the Contract. Parts were left out of the contract. The deck roof was also constructed so high from our actual deck that we do not get the sun and rain protection my wife and I wanted and expected.

They say on their website and flyers they never use subcontractors. Well about halfway through my roof I was talking to the foreman and come to find out he's a subcontractor. The work was subpar and they were extremely messy. Cigarette butts and nail left all over my property. I had to have them come back twice to clean up the mess.

Nothing left around. Overall, their price was very reasonable. They started quickly after we agreed to price, and they did a terrific job.

Overall we were very happy with Inks. The estimate for their labor was good and the workmanship was consistent. It look a LONG time for them to actually start our job from the time that we told them we wanted them to do the work but once they started it was completed within 3 weeks (with a couple days off for Thanksgiving in the middle). My only complaint is that the communication from the head guy to us and to his contractors on site could be a little lacking. Some details that we had initial y requested like using the PVC trim instead of wood never got communicated and therefore weren't done. We had one issue where the design had to change slightly mid project. This change was going to cost an extra $500 but were were never asked if that was ok before they went ahead and did that work. However, at the end of the project when we expressed our displeasure with this they reduced that add on cost by half. The quality of the work was very good and the bathroom turned out gorgeous. We had a small issue with a grout line cracking a couple weeks later and they came out to take care of it. I would hire them again?just get on the schedule early because they are very busy.

One day, unannounced, they arrived and removed the porch roof. They were to do that to coincide with our awning being taken down and replaced. So after the porch roof was replaced and a portion of the soffit and fascia was replaced, we had the awning company come out. Since Inks was supposed to install the soffit and fascia under the awning, they were supposed to come back early on the day the awning was being removed and installed to finish the soffit and fascia under the awning. They didn't show until close to 10, which held up the awning work. It all worked out in the end, but someone got their signals mixed up at the beginning and removed the roof earlier than expected.

Ed Beck gave my wife an estimate for $1500 to replace a sliding patio glass door. Their website says that senior citizens get a 10% discount, but, she did not know that until afterwards. My wife is close to 70 years old and obviously a senior. Ed did not give a receipt stating a cost minus the discount. All he did was initial the estimate of $1500 that it was paid in full. When my wife called to ask about the discount the receptionist said that she would have Ed call her. A week went by and Ed did not return the call, so, I called and was told again that she would ask him again to call. Not sure why the receptionist didn't talk to Michael Inks about it since Ed was an installer. I am assuming that Ed is not an owner. Ed finally called me back. He said that it was originally $1800. My wife said that he never said any other price besides $1500, which was on the estimate, and it is not written anywhere. Told Ed that it should have been $1350 and he got belligerent. He said that $1500 was a good deal. My wife said that he was very nice. The work was done and cleaned up and he was gone in a little under 2 hours. The door looks very nice, but, of course not the quality of the door they replaced which was 40 years old. We really weren't given a choice, just that it would be vinyl with 2 locks. He did not have samples to pick from.

We contracted with Inks Installation in Nov 2014 to have work done in the spring of 2015. We met with a very nice salesman who promised us many things that did not happen. We specifically told them we were in no hurry to have the siding done and did NOT want it done in bad weather! The owner called in late Feb 2015 to tell us they were going to start. We voiced our concerns, but they came to side our house in 6 inches of new snow fall, then rain and more snow with a few sunny days within a two week period. We were told it would be done in one week. Any advertising for Inks states "We do our own work", but our crew were contractors, not employees. They left a mess- many nails under the snow and our lawn was torn up because of their equipment on the snowy, muddy ground. Our salesman told us he would have their maintenance crew come over when the weather cleared up to pick up nails and repair our lawn. It never happened! Within 5 weeks, our siding was falling off! We called the owner and he sent two guys who we believe we're employees, to fix it. They were very good and said they don't work outside in bad weather - that's why we didn't get their crew to do our job. Two weeks later another patch of siding was falling off! Again we called the owner and he sent the same two guys over. They were quite disgusted with the quality of work done by the other crew- we asked them "How do you think we feel?" We were told in our initial meeting with the salesman that the siding has a lifetime warrantee and the labor was guaranteed for 10 years. We asked many times - to the salesman, the office, AND the owner for a written guarantee and have never received it. When phone calls didn't work, we wrote a letter to the owner, Michael Inks, detailing all of our issues and asking for a written guarantee. We also mentioned that our neighbors were wondering who did our work and that we could not recommend Inks. We NEVER heard back from the owner and have never received the written guarantee. What a way to do business! Save yourself a lot of headaches and hire someone else!

Initially the installation was fine with typical, expected minor issues that were handled immediately. This summer the center stringer of the steps is showing signs of rotting including disintegrating wood and unstable stairs. After contact was made with the company one of the contractors came out to see the issue. He agreed that the wood was rotting. He asked if the stairs always had that much movement in them when our 25 pound pet ran up them. He told me that the repair/replacement would be at my cost for labor and materials, and that it would correct the rotten stringer as well as the stairwell integrity. After informing him that was unacceptable, I followed with a phone call to Mr. Inks. He returned my call, and told me that the rotting wood was "a part of life, my dear." He would only remove the stairs and replace the stringer at my expense for labor and materials, stating that he only has warranty for the labor in his agreements. When being notified that this was unacceptable, Mr. Inks ended the call abruptly. This is a safety concern, and Mr. Inks does not deem it a worthy cause for reconciling the issue.

Pros: - Inks has a nice showroom with lots of products to pick from. - We worked with Mike Stump and he was very knowledgeable and offered guidance when we had questions.? He was fast at responding to our phone calls and emails.? Mike was nice and professional.? Mike helped us design a new layout for the kitchen that met our needs. - Pricing was fantastic. - Cabinets, counter tops, and back splash were beautiful and installed properly. - Bulkhead removal looks great, but patch work was sloppy.? Inks did come back and sand down ripples in patchwork without argument. - We love our new kitchen. I think with any huge project there will be issues that arise, but we would return to Inks for future projects. Cons: - Installer left a huge hole in the wall behind the new microwave and to our attic where old microwave exhaust was located.? We didn't notice till the winter when a cold draft was making our kitchen cold.? - The plumber Inks used was unprofessional and not punctual.? Our project was delayed by a incorrectly cut counter top then delayed again because the plumber would not come back.? - We requested 2 electrical units to be moved on 2 different switches, which never happened.(we were not charged for this) - Our kitchen was estimated to be non-functional for 1 week and partially functional for 1 week but it ended up being 3 weeks of partial functioning.
Description of Work: Installed new kitchen cabinets, counter tops and back splash tile. Removed a bulkhead and performed patch work.

I should have known! When Mr. Cole showed up May 25 to give an estimate for replacing the roof I noticed that his pickup truck’s inspection sticker had expired in April – also the rear tires were close to being bald on the middle. I was thinking – what kind of company is this? Our friend had used them for their roof replacement with no problems. Then Mr. Cole recommended to use the old fashioned 3 tab shingles instead of the Architectural shingles because they “would hold water”! Now that sounded like a tall story to me. I defaulted back to our friends recommendation, but was still wondering about what kind of company I was dealing with. On the second day of replacing the roof my wife came to me and said there was no light in the kitchen and dining room. I went up on the roof and told them about the lack of light – they right away lifted up the plywood right where the cable from the circuit breaker panel to the box in the dining room ceiling had been cut! – how did they know where the problem was? They did a temporary fix by putting an inaccessible box in between the thrushes- in violation of the NEC(National Electric Code). Now I was suspicious and went around in the house looking at the ceilings – sure enough in one bedroom there was a punch through in the ceiling – they had to know about that just like the cut of the cable. They took of $ 200 of the bill for the damage to the bedroom ceiling. A few days later I was up in the attic and noticed that where they had repaired the wire they had not put the insulation back between the thrushes. So I called Mr. Cole cell phone – my call went to voice mail – not like previous where he always answered right away. I was asking if he could drop some insulation – then I would fix the missing insulation myself. A week or more went by but Mr. Cole did not return my call so I tried to call again with the same result – before I called I expected that - after all I had paid them in full - so as soon my call had gone to voicemail I called Mr. Cole using my cell phone and he answered right away! I again requested a piece of insulation so I could fix it myself - I did not demand that they should fix it. A couple of weeks later I went to Angie’s list and noticed that they offered a senior citizen discount of 10 % so I wrote to Inks Installations ( Remember they did not answer my calls- although I could have used my wife’s cell phone) and said that I did not get that. They responded and said that was already figured into the price I was given! Really! This was the first time the discount was mentioned. A month or more after that Mr. Cole showed up with some insulation (R13 rather than R19) . I mentioned to Mr. Cole my disappointment with his roofers cutting the cable and damaging the ceiling in one bedroom without saying anything, I also mentioned that the cable repair did not meet code. Mr. Cole just looked at me – said nothing! I noticed that his truck now had 4 new tires on and the inspection sticker now read July! With other words he had been representing Inks Installations for up to 3 months in a pickup truck with bald tires and an expired inspection sticker! Several month went by and I noticed all the electric fires that had occurred – so I filed a complaint with the BBB – I figured that would be the only way I would get it electric cable fixed properly. Inks responded to the BBB that they thought I was happy with the repair! So thanks to the BBB the cable got repaired and paid for by Inks. So if you need your roof replaced and want to save 2-3 thousand dollars under what other roofers quotes – go ahead – hopefully they will not cut any cables or fall through your ceilings – also you might not appreciate that they urinated in your flowers as witnessed by the neighbors wife from her kitchen window. But if anything goes wrong you might not appreciate to play phone games with Mr. Cole! I should have known! Estimate process: I found Inks to be courteous and helpful, with enough follow up to let me know they wanted my business but without being pushy or bothersome in any way. Price seemed fair and a good value considering the work performed; not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. I do suggest making sure your agreement is specific about everything the customer is responsible to provide so that there are no misunderstandings or surprises at the end of the project. During the project: The workers significantly exceeded our expectations. Showed up on schedule every day as expected, treated my family and possessions with the utmost courtesy and respect, and bent over backwards to accommodate our requests. Tidied the work space each evening. Finished the project on time, in fact earlier than expected even while working though some difficult winter weather conditions. They truly had a great attitude overall. Quality of work: Excellent. Carpentry, drywall, tile everything I can see looks great and we are proud to show our neighbors and friends. A small nitpick would be that the painting was not the best I've seen but it got the job done for present. Conclusion: I give Inks Installations my highest recommendation. I feel this business does quality work, will stand behind their product, and treats their customers well.
Description of Work: Finished my unfinished basement approx. 600 sq ft. incl. adding full bathroom (no rough ins were present), bar area, laundry room, ceramic tile floor, faux wainscoting, storage area and other items.

The work was done as explained to me and on a timely basis. The crew was friendly, on time, informative, neat (as possible doing a demolition). Inks has a strong reputation with various suppliers, applicances and flooring. I was able to select my applicances and flooring, Inks worked with the supplier to store/delivery product as the remodel progressed. I did not have to worry or schedule. I did have a minor glitch with a particular employee's responsiveness, who I am told, is no longer with this company. I would not hesitate to call Inks for future jobs.

The Thur. before Memorial Day we had a bad rain storm. Water was coming out of the top of my built in microwave and also down in a corner of the kitchen. (Last summer I had come home from vacation and found water in the microwave, but didn't realize it had been the roof leaking then). I called the company and they said someone would come out Fri. morning. At 10 am I called again and was told they would not be able to come until Tue. am. Again they removed part of the roof on the same side of the house and had to install missing flashing! My previous roof had been 30 yrs old and had never leaked. I am hoping we are ok now!! Thank goodness the roof has a 5yr guarantee on labor - it appears the people working on that side of the house didn't know what they were doing.
Description of Work: Came back for the 2nd time since roof installed to fix another leak. The entire new roof was put on in May 2011. We had called them back in August of 2011 when both sunroom sky lights were leaking and they fixed it saying that no flashing had been put around the sky lights.

Several companies I called to ask for estimates never bothered to return my calls and/or come out. Inks was very professional. Mike had some innovative ideas for some of the issues with my very small kitchen. Although I did not hire them (as other issues arose that resulted in the project being on the back burner) the service was very good. My only critique is that the price for the counters was deinitely on the high end (at least $1,000 more than other estimates I received).

After they left, there was some things missing from the house but I can't say for sure they were the ones that took them. They left shingles and debris in the bushes. When I went to sell the house, the home inspection showed debris in the gutter. I had to pay someone $50 to clean my gutters and the bucket they brought down had shingles and roofing debris in it. I had a worker helping do some updates on the house before the sale. He commented in the attic the roofers just covered over a certain vent that shouldn't have been covered with shingles. Said his opinion they probably did that because it was easier for them. They took three days to paint the bedroom upstairs. My grandmother has dementia and I feel they took advantage of her. After they left, the skylight over the bathroom was cracked. I can't prove they cracked it but it wasn't broken before they came. Cost another $500 to replace that.
Description of Work: They put a new roof on. They also had to do a little bit of painting on the inside of the house because of some water damage.

Response from Inks Installations
Dear Member, We have been in business for over 25 years now. We have never had a customer compliant about our workers stealing ANYTHING from a home. If you thought something like this had occurred, you should have called us right away. We would take this very seriously! You wrote that you had some issues with the work that was done, if you would have given us a call we would have gladly taken care of the problems without cost to you. I'm very sorry that your experience wasn't a good one. I can assure you that our workers would never take anything from your home and if there were problems you should have given us a call and chance to correct everything before posting a bad review especially implying that our workers stole from you. Again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and we are now taking your review very seriously considering this is the FIRST time you have brought this to our attention. Thank you for your time. Have a great day!

They talk a big game with a nice portfolio but obviously have no professionalism at all.
Description of Work: came to give us estimate on addition, never heard from again after repeated phone calls.
