Kennihan Plumbing & Heating

Work was performed well. Very expensive. $99.00 for estimate and $1000.00 to in install a $25,00 water shut off valve which took the plumber about one hour. I was definitely ripped off.

I had Kennihan's at my house for a leak in my upstairs toilet that leaked to the kitchen below. I was told by the plumber that he could not find a leak and it could have been a leak in the roof. Which I'm no plumber but I would think the bathroom wall above would be damaged but it was NOT. Then I was told to take a picture if I find a leak and call them back. Got charged $125 call out fee plus $198 service fee to find no leak. Surprise I flushed toilet a few time and leak. I took photo and had them come back and charged around $700 more dollars. So total was over a grand for a wax seal problem. NEVER EVER AGAIN will I use them. Luckily it has not leaked since though. Way over priced in my opinion.

The guys were great that came out to service my furnace. However, not more than an hour after they left, the furnace stopped working. I called, the owner called back. He spoke in a belittling manner to me. He said, "Are you sure it was Kenninhan's? What were the guys names, what did they say was wrong with it? How do YOU know that the furnace isn't working?" He was more than rude, he has ZERO INTEGRITY!!! The temperatures were dropping in to the low 30's . He said to me repeatedly, "What do you want me to do?" I said, "What I want you to do is honor the $324 I just paid you to repair my furnace, and send someone to fix it." He said, "There will be additional charges." He went on to diagnose the problem and why the furnace isn't working, without any intention of speaking to the guys that serviced it, and were actually here. If that were the case, why didn't the servicemen tell me that before working on it? This is only my 2nd Yelp review. I don't complain much, but this guy should not be a small business owner! I have never been more disgusted with service by a locally owned business!! I recommend anyone BUT KENNIHAN'S!!!

I called in the afternoon and they arrived by 9 AM next day. Managed to stop the leak temporarily and had to return on the Monday as he had to order parts. Arrived just as promised on Monday afternoon and completed the job in a short amount of time. Completely satisfied!!! Staff was super friendly and responsive as was the Plumber. Didn't charge for a second call as they had to order parts. Highly recommend them!!!

It went well, from my first interaction with staff at the Pittsburgh Home Show, to the salesman, to the installers. All were professional, courteous and easy to deal with. I would work with them again. Probably left my basement cleaner than it was when they showed up.

Excellent - would hire again - had a service plan so it didn't cost me any money

Excellent workmanship, but a bit expensive. The company charges $86 just to come to the job site.

We had called and they were very fast to respond and had somebody here within an hour.

They're are pretty expensive, but if it was an emergency I would use them again. They come right away.

Our new furnace was installed the next day. The crew was very professional laying down mats to cover the floors and steps. They were on time and explained everything that they were going to do and got right to work. During the final set up, they found that we had excess gas pressure coming into the house and the gas company needed to be called to fix this problem which could have caused damage to all of our gas appliances. The gas company replaced a regulator and meter to solve this issue. The crew stayed during all of this. After approx. 10 hours the install was complete. The crew went over a thorough check list with us explaining the furnace components as well as the new digital thermostat which was part of the install. We will use Kennihan's for all of our future heating/ac needs.

Excellent. Would not hesitate to hire Kennihan Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning for future jobs. Their entire staff is friendly and professional. All work was explained in detail. Job was priced at the beginning and there were no additional fees.

My AC stopped blowing cold air this morning- the temp for today was going to be close to 90! After calling our usual company and being told someone could be to my place "some time today" I decided to try Kenninhan's. I had met Jerry at Cranberry Community Days and had his card so I gave it a try. I spoke to him directly and he had a technician to my house within the hour! Chad came and found the problem quickly and fixed it just as quickly. He was thourough in his explanations and wonderfully polite! He did not try to upsell me on anything and answered all of my questions effectively. I will be using Kennihans for my routine upkeep and maintanece of my AC and furnace and will call them with any plumbing needs I may have as well! Great work guys!

We are in need of a new 80 gallon hot water tank. I wanted to use a local company and used your service to pick three to contact. When I spoke with Kennihan,the receptionist was extremely nice and helpful, I found that they would not come and give us an estimate free of charge like other companies. They wanted $125.00 to give and estimate, but it would come off the bill. Apparently they are not interested in a job that would be around $1,000. I will be going with one of the other two companies that I contacted, who choose to give me an estimate free of charge. This is not a good way to obtain new business. I will not be using them for a new hot water tank, nor, will I ever use them in the future.

Brian, their plumber, checked our leaking shower and quickly determined that there was a broken gasket causing the leak. He looked for the most cost effective solution and thoroughly explained the work. We were 100% thrilled with his service and will call them again.

The gentlemen are very nice and professional. When they come in to my house, they always put their booties on their shoes. They explain they're doing and don't seem to mind if you watch or ask questions. They are willing to tell you what's going on. If I have questions, they'll call their office right away and give me a ballpark figure of what I want done. They do call before to tell you when they're coming out and they're on their way. You're not sitting around all day waiting on them. They're very nice people!

The plumber, Brian, showed up. He was very polite, nice, knowledgable, and helpful. He fixed all the issues I had, answered all my questions, and explained how I could fix certain things myself in the future. Also, I called and they were out the same day.

They came when promised. Very knowledgeable. The technician discovered a problem that I wasn't aware of and came back on a holiday to remedy.

Prompt. Came quickly after I xalled. On weekend. Knowledgeable and quick service. Had parts in truck. Would use again. Courteous and professional.

It didn't go. They never came the first time and never got back to me the second time.

Provider came out with my landlord and the issue was resolved the next day.

He was fast but the rates were ridiculous!

On the coldest day of the year (-17), I thought I smelled gas in the basement. I was hoping it was my imagination but I thought I better call. I called and the polite voice on the other end said they could have someone come out in 20 minutes. I met a young guy who represented your company well. As he got closer to the furnace he said he smelled gas too. I knew this had to be an incredibly busy time but this fellow said he had better get someone with an infrared camera over to take a closer look. Soon another professional came along and he showed me why I was smelling gas. Then he said something I never expected. "Its dangerous to operate this furnace. We can't turn it back on". The temp outside was below zero. What was I going to do? They offered to bring space heaters over and said they would try to get me a new furnace ASAP. Unfortunately it was a Friday and they weren't sure they could get someone to come out on Saturday. But on a day where 4-6 inches of snow was predicted & falling, two pros came to our house. 5 hours later I had a new furnace and heat. I can't say enough about how I was treated and the service we received.

Over a period of several days, we had intermittent loss of domestic hot water as well as loss of zoned hot water heat in our home. The technician, who has been in our home before arrived within 48 hours of calling, which was fine. I told him, upon arrival, we had domestic hot water at the moment, but a few of the zones were failing. In other words, a few rooms were getting cold. He inspected the boiler and came to the conclusion that the air intake pipes were obstructed. He also concluded that there must be an obstruction in the water supply to the zoned rooms, possibly ice in the line. (Remember, we are referring to hot water pipes in the inside of the house!). He spent the next hour looking for possible places of obstruction of both the air and water systems. In other words, he maintained that there were at least 2 problems going on. When he could not figure out where the problem resided, he stepped out to call the owner, Jerry Kennihan. While he was outside in the truck making telephone calls, I called Jack Makdad of Makdad industrial, a friend of mine specializing in HVAC in Altoona, Pa. He told me to read off the gauges to him. The water pressure in the system was ZERO!! No water pressure, which means very little hot water. I went out to discuss this with the technician, who then proceeded to re-check the water pressure. It was indeed zero. He let more water into the system through the fill valve and, presto, the boiler began to work fine. Checking the gauge and filing the system took all of 10 minutes. The boiler remained working fine and the technician drew up the bill. The bill was a staggering $482.00!! This was for 2.5 hours of labor plus the service call ( $39.50 for every 15 minutes, plus $87 service call). Remember, this technician did not even check the gauges on the boiler until I did it for him! He wrote up the bill as if he found the problem, which he did not. He did not even check it, yet I get this obscene bill. There were no parts replaced, nothing even repaired. Unbelievably, the technician maintained that there were still other problems with our system that were not fixed yet. I disagree. It is one week later and there has not even been a hiccup in the system. It is working fine. I discussed this bill and the poor quality of service with Jerry Kennihan who agreed to work with me on the bill, but only did so after telling me that they've gone round and round with me in the past! The reason I have problems with this business is because the quality has become very poor. I don't mind paying for expertise, but I have had several service calls from Kennihan's where I received very expensive bills (>500 dollars) for work that didn't need to be done (replacing multiple parts hoping something works) or where they couldn't find a problem which was simple to diagnose (checking gauges). I paid the bill as I didn't like the comment I received from the owner, but I am done with this provider. As the technician left my home, he was certain that I would have more problems because they didn't fix them all! If I do, it won't be Kennihan fixing them .

I was contacted the day of our appointment for an estimate to discuss the project. After explaining our plan and the types of AC units we were looking for, I asked if we were still good for our appointment later that day. He said yes or he could just email me some prices. I stated it was probably best that they look at the project because we will need duct work done. He said he would need to see if his installation engineer could come too and would call me back. He called me back shortly there after and said that because of where we are located (Lawrenceville) and where they are located (Valencia) that they probably wouldn't be able to be competitive and that we should go with someone else.
