As a family masonry company, with multiple trucks on the road, a talented team of masons and over 6,000 projects completed, Natalini and Son have established themselves as one of the most trusted masonry and brick companies in the Philadelphia, PA area. Owner operated with 38 years of knowledge and know how to get the job done right. We are a team of 5 employees and use no subs. We are not a cookie cutter company so cost is determined by the job. We do not have travel charges. Please contact directly through email.
I phoned Natalini Masonry to come out and assess what brick pointing needed to be done and provide an estimate. They made an appointment for that Sunday but no one showed up at the scheduled date and time. About three weeks after another provider did the work I got a phone call from Natalini saying that they found my name and number on a slip of paper and did I want them to come out and provide me an estimate still.

Tom came to look at the job in October. He told me they couldn't start until December 7. OK. Then, two days before they were suposed to start, he sent me an email saying they couldn't do the job until Jan. 28. No reason for the two-month delay. But OK. I was fine with it. Now it's Jan. 29. They canceled yesterday because of the rain. This morning I get a call from Tom's son. He had no idea he was supposed to do this job and he's going to be several hours late. I was a little concerned because there were specific places that needed to be addressed that I had gone over with Tom. How would his son know what to do? Apparently Tom does not like it when women ask questions or express concerns. He canceled the job by email - didn't even call - AS I'M SITTING HERE WAITING FOR HIS (LATE) son to arrive. I've included the email below. It basically says that it's not his fault I had a bad contractor before. And that he was doing me a favor by taking on this small job. ( It might have been small to him, but it's two weeks pay for me.) It's true that he's not responsible for previous work. But he is responsible for scheduling projects, showing up on time and acting professionally when people ask questions or voice concerns. If things get screwed up, apologize and explain what's going on and how it'll be addressed. Don't pat me on the head and say "don't worry about it." I called him to talk about the situation and he didn't answer and didn't call me back. I've had plenty of great contractors - electrical, plumbing, handymen.. so there are good ones out there. Maybe Natalini does good work but I wouldn't know, and I would never hire him. Especially if you're a woman. Here's the email he sent, by the way. 'The way your acting because of your Last mistake that you made hiring thisLast clown that did your work you areStereo typing every mason you willEver hire and hold it against all masons.we are a small co. And ifYou knew how good we are you wouldBe very glad to have waited for us.You had the one person that alwaysLet you know what was going on. AndAlways got right back to you.we takeAre time and do the work right this andAlways doing are own work.we are a3rd.gen of masons and have a veryGood name. I have had people pleading with me to take there work.Even though the job was to smallWe still tried to help people. We have always had work in goodTimes and bad because we do goodWork. I am tired of trying to proveTo people that doesn't know who weAre and I don't need to do this anyLonger. Good luck Thank-you Tom Sr,"
Description of Work: This company was recommended to me to do spot repointing after another masonry contractor missed some spots and water got inside. Natalini was also supposed to repair a chimney and replaster the water damage inside.

Member called us to look at pointing, plastering and chimney repair. The last person she hired missed a lot of areas. She was very upset because this person never returned to complete the work. We gave her a date but had to give another date because of the over whelming amount of work we had, she was very unhappy. I explained that we were a small co. and trying to make everyone happy because of rain, holiday and now cold weather we made another date. I told her this is outside work we need nice weather to give a good job. We returned all calls. We returned all emails that I still have. We made a date to start. Member on day to start my son called said he would be right there. She then used profane language at my son never seen him before said he didn’t know how to do the work and that he was too young to do her work. My son said he has 25 yrs experience and he is 41 yrs old, is married for 15 yrs. and has 4 children. She then said he needs scaffolding, ladders and told him what kind of tools and how to do the work, all over the phone. I emailed her after my son called me and told me this. I said to her my son is my partner and he knows how and knows what to do and that we stand behind our work and to please take it easy everything will be OK. She then emailed me and said don’t tell me to take it easy that’s what the last contractor said. I told her in another email please don’t compare me to the last person you hired we have a very good record and stand behind our work. She sent another email it was bad so I made the decision to pass on the work. We never started or did any of her work. We never signed a contract or took any money. I’m very sorry but just like customers we to like to be treated with respect. Why she said it’s because she is a women I have no idea we treat everyone with respect.

We received a prompt, professional estimate from Tom to repair some of the stone masonry on our house, along with repair the concrete around our bilco door and a small stucco repair along one of our windows. The company is small, and due to weather there were some delays in starting our project. However, Tom did a pretty good job informing us of the delays and thanking us for our patience. We paid a deposit at the beginning of the work, which took about a week. On the last day of work, we left a check for the remaining balance. Upon completion of the work, Tom e-mailed us to make sure we were satisfied with the work. There was one small repair that was missed and Tom's team returned quickly to fix it and did not cash our final payment until we told him that we were satisfied with the completion of the work. Overall, we were extremely impressed with the quality of the work. The stone portion of our house is old and we aren't the first owners to make repairs to the masonry. However, the repairs made by Tom's team matched the original work almost exactly - our landscaper even commented on the quality of the repairs! I would recommend Tom and his team and plan to use them going forward for any additional repairs we may need.

I called Tom Natalini on August 18, for him to do some masonry work in my house. He came and gave me an estimate following Sunday. I requested him to do the job. The job was sealing cracks at the back of the house and repairing and sealing the front windows plus perhaps redoing the whole stucco at the back. He gave me an estimate and he told he could schedule it to Nov. I said fine, and the job was scheduled for Nov 26, 2012. Since I haven't heard from them, a night before I called hin on Nov 25th to ask what time they would be arriving. I did not get any answer. A few days later his son Tom Jr. called and came and looked at the job and said they would come and do it coming Friday. Friday came and gone, I called again, Tom returned the call and said they will do the job following week. Following week Tom stopped by but he said his ladder was too long and couldn't get it over, he would go and get a shorter ladder and come back. That day he never came back. I kept on calling and recording a message but they never responded. I think they are very irresponsible; they wasted my three months promising they will do the job but never did it.
Description of Work: The company scheduled the job but they never bother to do it. Very disappointed.

You have a row home in the city with a 3’ wide alley. The alleyway is filled with weeds, trash, telephone poles, and electric wires and in the only area to lift our 40’ extension ladder was over your neighbor’s fence which is approximately 12’ high from the ground level. We showed up and gave it a try and your neighbor was nice enough to give us a hand. After trying to lift the ladder we could see something was going to be broken and someone may be injured. If you would have let us bring the ladder with a straight run through your home into the back yard the job would have been done but you didn’t want this. After all we were doing this repair for free because you had said you would let us paint the entire rear in the spring. You also asked us while we were there to repair the cracks under the front window; the cracks in the rear were at the top of your home three stories high. I felt we should wait until spring this way we could use scaffolding which is smaller sections and easier to handle. I took it on your word and no contract was ever signed to do the work in the spring. So you may have not given us the work in the spring and the efflorescence would have been for free. The company didn't show up when they said they would...I posted on Angie's list. They called us and apologized and asked for another shot .they came out and asked us to change the rating on Angie's list and said they would call in a couple days with the official estimate. We updated the rating thinking we could work it out....they on the other hand never called. The rating goes back to "F". Standing someone up twice is unacceptable and unprofessional.

I had made a mistake in my planner/phone. I had the 15th at 10:00 am to give an estimate when the actual date was the 8th at 10:00 am to give an estimate. I would still love to give an estimate for your work if you would accept my apology. I wished you would have called me instead of going this route for a simple mistake.

Tom was responsive, on time, professional, and knowledgable. He was the second person we hired to try to fix the problem. Even though it was a little pricier, we were confident he would finally fix the problem. The quality of his work was exceptional and the service exceeded expectations. He obviously takes great pride in delivering a great product.
Description of Work: We have an older house with a brick face. The brick was allowing water to come through the walls, repeatedly bubbling the interior paint. We also had water coming in at the base of the house into the basement. Tom and his team repacked the bricks, replaced a rotting wooden header with stone, sealed and replastered the interior wall, and painted the exterior face of the house.

Chris was very profession, arrived at the appointed time, and was great to talk to. We received his estimate for a full re-pointing and asked if he could change the estimate for a patching of the mortar. Chris kindly did so, and with the 10% discount it came to $4250. I wish we could have gone with Chris, but unfortunately, due to financial constraints, we had to go with someone less expensive.

Tom is very good about communicating through email and phone to make arrangements. We are having them come this week to start the second phase of masonry work on our house.

From our first meeting, it was clear that Tom had a thorough knowledge about his trade and quickly identified areas where water could be coming into my house. He clearly was familiar with houses in the city and what needed to be done. Also, more importantly and unlike other estimates I got, he did not tell me I needed more work than I actually did. His team was professional and respectful of my house. I would definitely use him again.
Description of Work: I live in the city where all the houses are connected to each other, and water was coming into my house from between the walls of my house and my neighbors house. Tom and his team re-did the gutters and patched up a number of cracks and holes that water was coming in. They also re-pointed my basement.

I called this company for an estimate due to all the positive reviews it received on Angie's List. The person was on time for the appointment, and very pleasant to deal with. As such, I was very shocked when they sent me their estimate, which was over $10,000. This seemed very expensive to repair a chimney that is only a few feet tall. It was also about four times the amount that other companies provided to do the same exact work. Obviously we did not hire this company for the job.

Tom Natalini and his workers are super professionals. I had them out to initially install two starbolts to a bulging 100 year old exterior wall, as recommended by a structural engineer. Tom was super knowledgeable about his craft, and about how to go about saving the wall from being re-built, and how to correctly repoint using the materials required to match the original wall. After beginning the job, it became apparent that the existing three starbolts (that came with the house) were installed improperly and were contributing to the continued wall movement. Tom and his crew explained well why the old starbolts were wrong, took pictures of the existing installation, as well as their installation prior to closing the ceiling for my records. This additional work added time and cost to the job, but Tom explained what was necessary, and there was no problem continuing the project without interruption. The work was impeccable, the workers were polite, clean, quiet and very considerate of my property and of my neighbors (they even cleaned off the cars in front of the house that were dirtied by the dust!) My neighbor even complimented them to me on their professionalism and consideration for the street and neighbors.Even with the extra work that was uncovered, as well as some requiring more work than thought, Tom and his crew were wonderful to work with, and I would recommend them to anyone.
During a particularly windy rain storm we realized water was leaking into our kitchen around a vent that led to an outside brick wall. A quick fix with caulking was performed by a family friend who suggested that masonry work was needed not just in the area of the leak but in other locations as well. We got three estimates for the job. Tom Sr. returned my call promptly to schedule a time for the estimate. He arrived on time on the scheduled day. Tom's estimate was the highest of the three, but we went with him instead of the others because he seemed substantially more knowledgeable and described what sounded like a much more thorough job than what the others described. He was also very honest about what did and did not need to be done and did not try to sell us more work than we needed. We did have to wait several weeks before the job could be done, but this would have been the case with at least one of the other masons we contacted. Tom Sr. and his crew arrived as promised on the scheduled day. On the first day they worked on the street side of the house; they removed the down spout and window boxes and repaired all damaged brick and mortar. All vents and the eves boxes were caulked. The down spout and window boxes were replaced. My only complaint was that the window boxes were not placed back on the correct windows. They could have been a little more careful in marking exactly where things came from or they could have asked before they replaced the window boxes. We did not realize the mistake had been made until after they had left and we did not bring it to their attention the next day because we didn't want to delay the work they were doing that day since we needed them to be able to finish in a timely manner. Since the window boxes are hanging from the second and third floors it was a difficult fix for us to perform. On the second day they worked on the garden side of the house re-pointing all damaged brick and mortar. On both days the work area was thoroughly cleaned when they were done, leaving our sidewalk and garden neater than before they came. All of the workers were professional and courteous.

I called Mr. Natalini in December 2011 for an estimate on pointing bricks on back of house; we settled on meeting about two weeks after my call. Tom, looked over the back of the house and explained what needed to be done and how it would be done. After receiving the estimate, I called to confirm that we wanted to go ahead with the work. Tom explained the need to wait until the weather broke and that he would put me on the jobs list for March. When he called in March, my husband and I decided to add repair of driveway and the walkway along the side of the house. Tom, came out again and explained how the old concrete would be removed, and the stones and wiring that would be laid to support the concrete driveway and walkway. He sent another estimate that included the additional work; I called to let him know the job was a go; a week or so later the work began; Tom also included a repair to our retaining wall, a crack in the concrete wall of the house and pointed a couple of bricks on the front of the house. The job was finished in about two weeks. My husband who was home when the work was being done, had no complaints about the work or the workers. We were pleased by Tom's knowledge and professionalism and the fine job he and his workers did.

I called Mr. Natalini on Tuesday. He returned my call that night and set up an appointment for Sunday between noon and three. On Friday I called to confirm the appointment (as I always do with contractors) as well as see if I could get a tighter arrival time, as I had many things to do on Sunday outside the house. No one called back. I called again Sunday morning asking the same question in a voice mail. No one answered, but it's possible it was an office phone. So I stayed home the entire day, no one ever showed. No one ever called me. No one ever called me the next day. I understand you can be busy, but it takes 5 minutes to give a customer a call and let them know you won't be showing up, instead of having them waste what little time they have waiting for you not to show at all. For the record, I nor my wife ever left the house the entire day, not even for a minute (in case the company claims to have shown up). Furthermore, the number Mr. Natalini has (as evidenced by the call back I received from him initially) has all calls recorded online, so even a missed call without a voicemail would be recorded. There is no such call. And lastly, I confirmed that this is the same Natalini (based on the phone number listed here), as I am aware there are multiple on Angie's List.

Member, I am truly sorry I just went on line to check Angie’s List. I don’t always check. It has been at least 2 months. I handle all calls and my wife at the end of each day gives me my emails. I did call you and make an appointment for Sunday between 12 & 3. They say if everyone puts their troubles in a room and looked at everyone else problems you would see how fast everyone would grab their own back. Everyone has a load to carry I am not trying to make excuses I do want to apologize and say I drop the ball. I am sorry for my mistake and wasting your time. In the future I will try to be more responsible. We do have a good rating and I need to try harder to keep it good. Thank-you Sincerely, Thomas Natalini, Sr.

During the heavy rains of August and September 2011, a water main broke and filled our basement with 2 feet of water. Water was coming in through holes in the walls and floors. Once the main was fixed and we were finally able to clean up the water we went right to Angie's List to find a basement waterproofing company. Every company I called was swamped (understandable given the weather), but even when they said they'd call back weeks later they never did. Realizing that it was less of "waterproofing" service and more of a concrete repair I looked up Tom to see if he had done basements before. We had used him for other concrete/stucco work outside our house and were very happy with his price and work. He had done lots of basement work similar to what we were looking for. I called him and within 2 days he came out and gave us an estimate. The price was good and he was able to schedule us within a week. They started the work on a Monday and everything was completed within 5 days. He removed everything from our basement (we store a lot of stuff down there) and moved the washer and dryer. He moved everything really neatly into our dining room and outside (covered with plastic). After all the work was completed he replaced everything and cleaned up the floors on the first floor (they had tracked in a lot of dust). The basement looks great. There haven't been anymore watermain breaks, but I feel confident that everything is properly repaired.

We were out of town for the first few days of the job and they had to get a house key from a neighbor. No problems there. The job was done efficiently with a minimum of disruption to us. They had to re-build a small part of the wall around the water heater, which they did at no extra charge. The new walls look great and they even closed up some air leaks. Finally, they did a very thorough job of cleaning up. Very thorough. We were quite pleased and will have them back to do some exterior work once the weather warms up.
Description of Work: We had the basement walls in our 100+-year-old house parged. They also removed some old lathe and plaster and patched holes in the walls and floor. Theirs was the lowest of 4 estimates we got.

I contacted Tom and he responded later that day to set up an estimate. He showed up as planned the first time, and got an estimate to me a few days later. We scheduled the work for about six weeks out, due to both his schedule and my own. He did the job just as promised, even doing some extra repointing and clean up work. The work was high quality and Tom was completely professional. One of the nicest things was that any time I called with a question, Tom either answered the phone or called me back within an hour or two. Anyone who has worked with a contractor of any kind knows how rare this is! I would recommend Tom again!

I contacted Mr. Natalini back in October (approximate) due to water coming into my mother's front window. While examining the exterior of the window I noticed that mortar was missing from where (I assumed) the entry point was. Within one day of receiving my message Mr. Natalini responded that his company was booked solid through spring and that it might be better to go with another company due to the emergency.. I replied to this call by telling him that if someone canceled or he received an opening to please keep me in mind. I had a neighbor do a quick patch, hoping it would hold up and it did. I contact Mr. Natalini the week before Thanksgiving seeing if there was an opening just to get an estimate -- after finding out that my mother's neighbor (shared walk) wanted an estimate as well. I told the neighbor that this company was a family business with generations involved. I contact Mr. Natalini the week before Thanksgiving to see if I could just get an estimate (knowing that the work would not be performed before Spring). He got back to me ASAP and we set up for his son to visit the location to give that estimate. Chris visited us on Tuesday, November 29th and after reviewing the window stated that the water might not be coming in from the crack in the brick and gave us a company they work closely with to check your home for leaks. We were amazed that he was so open with a senior citizen (widowed) and her daughter. We did receive an estimate for patch and cement work around both homes on December 4th and are reviewing at this time. I do know that we will be scheduling an appointment for the work to be done in the Spring!

We had a couple of masonry estimate requests, but they were the only masonry provider that came. They were very professional and responded quickly. Their pricing was a little bit high for us. It was $3000. We can’t do the work anyway until spring. We would probably call them back again in the spring.
Description of Work: We got a quote Tom Natalini Masonry 3 weeks ago. It was for a brick wall repair.
