Jim did an excellent job. Jim came to give us the estimate the day after I found him on Angie's list. He then came within just a week or so to actually do the work. He and his co-worker were courteous, professional, punctual and the work was top quality. I would definitely recommend him highly.

I did not use him. He was very professional and he came out and gave me an estimate but I decided to go with someone else. I was trying to get the house ready to sell it. He came and he walked through and I showed him exactly what I wanted done. He did a thorough estimate and he broke it down so I could see what the cost was. I asked him if he could do a couple of things and he didn't think he was competent for that. I appreciated that he told me it was better left to the specialist. It sets your expectations as well and this was one of the reasons why I didn't want to have two more people doing the job. I wanted a handyman who could do everything on the list. I might get an estimate from him again for certain things.

From first phone contact to final payment, EXCELANT

Our home's deck had aged badly in the few years since its completion, and I was anxious to stop the wear and preserve as much as possible. Our home isn't easy to reach. It took considerable effort for Jim to make it to the agreed-on appointment. He looked at the deck carefully, asked what had been done and what we wanted. His suggestions were good, and he sent a reasonable estimate. On looking at it, we decided to add an additional treatment. He revised the estimate moderately, and we agreed. His team worked quickly and well. The deck has been exposed to extreme summer weather and looks great. I'm confident it will wear well.

On August 1st, Jim McDaniel came to our home to show us samples of color for the stain of the deck. It was great to see that he had a board with color swatches to match the deck as best as we could. I was satisfied with my choice. Jim dropped off all necessary lumber and equipment. The job began on Aug. 2nd and the team was on time at 8am and stayed most of the day removing damaged boards. I asked for their assistance with my dogs, so the team blocked all entrances to the deck so the dogs could not get up there. On Wednesday, Aug. 3rd the team began placing new boards on the deck. All carpentry was done in two days. Staining began on August 4th and was completed August 5th. The deck looks exceptional. I can't say enough about Jim and his team. The team cleaned up after themselves and left the property in perfect shape. The team was polite, friendly and answered all my questions during the job. I would and will have McDaniel Services back to do other house repairs.

Jim Arrived on time and framed the two closet openings and installed the sliding Mirrored Doors that I had previously purchased. Everything went smoothly, Jim cleaned up after the install. I am extremely satisfied with the work done. I would highly recommend Him to anyone who needs a handyman.

The owner showed up on time.. I told him I had a long list of little jobs that needed to be done: plumbing, electrical wiring, etc., and some big jobs, such as power washing our deck, and perhaps painting areas that were in trouble. Within minutes, I felt that he was making everything more complicated than it was, and worse, being contrary and oppositional. We didn't even get halfway through the tour of my house and its problems when he insulted me, insinuating that I lacked knowledge about something that I actually was quite informed about. I ended the interview shortly after that. There was no point. I would never want to have that man in my house again. I would never want to have him or his people do anything for me. I don't know what his problem was. I've worked with many contractors and handymen over the years, and I've never had such an unpleasant experience!!!

I had an immediate response to my inquiry. Mr. McDaniel made arrangements to come out to the house very quickly. He gave me an estimate for the job, and agreed to do the work within the time period I needed. He came out on the day I expected him. Got right to work. While taking out old grout around the bathroom ceramic tiles, he noted some wood that was damaged, something that had not been anticipated in the original estimate, but he replaced the damaged wood, at no extra charge. The tub and tile look great. He also checked out a ceiling light fixture in the kitchen at no charge to determine whether or not it was getting an electric current.

Right from the beginning the experience was very good. He was very responsive throughout the process providing me with regular updates. He explained the work and effort very clearly. His price was reasonable and transparent. Jim committed to having the deck redone by a certain date and kept to his word and completed it a week in advance. Jim also went the extra mile and attended the Board meetings of the Home owners' association to represent me in getting approval for the work and clarifying to them the project details.Overall - very good experience, will be happy to re-engage him again and reccommend Mcdaniel services.

Jim and his crew arrived on time and washed walls, ceiling, & trim in the living room, (due to smoke damage), patched and caulked as needed and applied two coats of finish paint to walls, ceiling trim. They also prepared the hall, patched as needed and applied two coats of finish paint to walls, ceiling, and trim including railings and spindles on the stairs and landing. This price included three different color paints. They also did some small hole patching in other rooms of the house and hung a bathroom mirror. They used a quality MAB paint for all painting.They were very neat and covered all furniture that remained in the room while painting. They had drop cloths in place to protect the carpets and they cleaned up each night when they were done for the day. The total job took three days. All in all they were very professional and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing painting or handyman services. I intend to use them again to install some closet doors when they arrive.

Jim's bid was reasonable and competitive. He and his crew members were polite, professional, and showed up on time, as agreed. He was very knowledgeable about materials, application techniques and seasonal timing requirements. Jim is very organized. The job went off like clockwork, despite the fact that we had a very rainy Spring. His team thought of a creative way to deal with the bowed rails. We were also very happy with the quality of the staining. I would highly recommend Jim and his team.

We called McDaniel Services for an estimate and Jim McDaniel arrived when he said he would and gave us an estimate. We selected him based on feedback we read on Angie's list and we were not disappointed. He is a true professional - pleasant, competent and trustworthy. He arrived on time and power washed two decks ( including railings and support beams) and a side walkway. It was not an easy job - he had to go down a steep hill into the woods behind our house to power wash the exterior railings and support beams. Our Decks and railings look fantastic ! We are even having him come back to paint the side walkway at a later date. Would not hesitate to use him again.

Profesional, on time ,great job. Coming back to do handyman jobs and i'm not worried about the job he will do.

They fulfilled all of their promises, and then some. They were on-time, and on budget. They were professional, and respectful to our home. The price was reasonable in regards to the work done. During the process, they were very accommodating to our needs I highly recommend them.

Jim returned my call promptly. He realized I was suffering from the sudden hot weather and took time from his busy schedule to do the work on a Sunday morning. This is another example of his deep concern for his customers and his willingness to do the job that needs doing. This is the third time he has done work for me, and his communication and responsiveness have been consistently superior to those of other contractors I have dealt with.

would highly recommend. I called for an estimate on having my Deck powerwashed, sanded and repainted. He came out the same day and the estimate within 24 hours. The only problem we had was the weather which he has no control over. His crew was fast, clean and efficent.

Subsequent to winning my rather large deck project after competitive bids were received, McDaniel Services provided clear guidance on when the project would start, and communication remained clear throughout the project. The quality of workmanship was high and performed as discussed in a professional and thoughtful manner. I would highly recommend.

I had intended to get more than one estimate to have my gutters cleaned but after talking with Mr. McDaniels ( my first call ), I selected him because of his knowledge and courteousness. He came out right away to look at my house to determine the price and called me back. The price was more than reasonable. He arrived when he said he would and completed the job as promised.

I hired Jim and team to apply stain/seal to a new Cedar fence which I had installed in November of last year. I wanted to have the fence installed before the winter, but the weather didn't allow for us to stain/seal it until the Spring. I hired Jim to do this job in the Fall and he stayed in touch with me every month over the winter about the weather and the timing of the application. I was very impressed. I had wanted to use a product that I had read about - ReadySeal - and Jim was fully supportive of this even though he had not used the product before. I sent him the website info and he read up on the product and gave me his feedback about the applicablity to my cedar fence which was very helpful. I ordered the product myself (he would have done this but I thought that it was easier this way). His team installed the product as recommended using a sprayer with a brush to blend in on horizontal surfaces as needed. This application took less than one day (two coats) which was great since other products and companies gave me an estimate of 4-5 days! They did a great job - professional team, cleaned up very well afterwards. I would definitely use this company again and would recommend them to anyone based on my experience.

Jim stopped by the same day that I called to go over the work. He sent an estimate within a day or so via email. He followed up with phone calls until he was able to do the work. They arrived on time and did a great job. The job took about 6 hours and any unexpected problems were solved quickly and efficiently. If a question came up about something that was unexpected, Jim checked with me to make sure that we were on the same page. When I asked him about another project, he was honest and said that he was not an expert in that field. I appreciated his honesty. The job site was clean at the end of the day.

It was the lowest price that I got and they were good. He came when he said and did the work.

McDaniel Services was the best contractor I have had at my home for any trade, EVER. They were professional, responsive and respectful as well as creative problem solvers. The crew was wonderfully dependable and polite and worked hard every day while they were on the site. I actually missed them when the project was finished! This was a large project and McDaniel Services performed the work seamlessly. My house looks beautiful.

If you are looking to refinish your deck, powerwash your house, or do some handyman type of work, stop looking right now and CALL JIM MCDANIEL. I've used Angie's List to find lots of service people, but I've never taken the time to write a review before. But I was just that impressed with Jim and the excellent work that he does. First, Jim promptly replied to my email asking to set up a time that he could come out to assess the work that needed to be done. He came out at our agreed upon time and was very good about helping us assess what really needed to be done and what shortcuts we could take to save some money. He seemed to understand that we had a budget and was great about helping us find ways to stay within that budget. A day later, he sent out a detailed estimate by email and we struck a deal with nothing more than a phone call. We agreed to get work started about a week out from when we came to an agreement, but then for various reasons we desperately needed to get the work done sooner. Jim came out to our house on a Sunday evening in order to get the powerwash and cleaning done so that the deck could be refinished much sooner than we had originally agreed to. Once it was dry, Jim's team came to refinish the deck w/ the color we had chosen and they did a great job (two coats!) in making our deck look like new. Trust me, our deck was in really bad shape and after Jim was done, it doesn't even look like the same deck anymore. All in, this was my best Angie's List experience, and I've had many. Do not hesitate to call Jim and he will do a great job for you. He is a really good guy, who is hard working and honest. All qualities I wish there was a lot more of.
