Description of Work: Our Rinnai, on-demand water heater,was making a loud noise. After not getting a response from another plumber company, I called J Conley and Sons. They set up an appointment, came out to service the unit and ordered the motor to replace. Within the week, the motor was replaced and now the water heater is running much quieter. Great service crew, prompt, efficient, and clean. Great experience.

Description of Work: Roger Conley did an extensive basement redo for us about 12 years ago - the plumbing and remodel. Roger also has the ability to design spaces. Roger planned the project and designed the space. I wanted a large work space, built in drawers, storage, including a large sink, a separate powder room, a cedar lined room, etc.. Roger designed and implemented this extensive project for a reasonable price-his workers are skilled and on time. Roger stopped in every few days and was always available by phone. He was flexible throughout the project - when I suggested changes he was open and receptive. I did not expect to find design and plumbing services with the same firm - saved me considerable time and money. Before the redo we called our basement looked like a dungeon. + -1 moreAs I stated. I called at 10:00 and made an appointment for 1:00. The work was completed by around 2:30. The only reason it was that late is because I was a little late. The dispatcher who answered the phone and the technician who handled the work were both professional friendly and efficient. I was very impressed. I hope I don't need a plumber for quite a while but if I do they will be my first call. And of course I will recommend them.
Description of Work: I had a leak from my ceiling. I called J Conley & Sons Plumbing. I had never used their services. I used them based on the reports from Angie's List. I called them at 10:00 A M. The technician met me at my house at 1:00. (I was a little late getting there..he was on time)He identified that the leak was from a bad valve in our bathroom upstairs. He replaced the valve and put some new parts in my toilet. He did all diagnostics and repair work within an hour. That certainly saved me money.

They told me that they would arrive by 8:30, gave me a verbal estimate for the work, and said they'd see me Monday morning. Paul, the service representative, arrived at 7:50 Monday morning, assessed the situation and said that he would need to go to the supply house to pick up the toilet. He was back in 15 minutes, and proceeded to replace the toilet. He was quite efficient, replacing the supplied flap with a more efficient model, and was finished by 9:00, at a cost $20.00 below the verbal estimate. To say we are pleased with our experience would be totally understating the situation. We will enthusiastically recommend J. Conley and Sons to ANYONE and EVERYONE, for efficiency, economy and overall customer satisfaction. In short, they wowed us.
Description of Work: This was the second job we had J. Conley perform. Initially, they replaced the wax seal under our toilet to re-mediate a leakage problem, and the representative said that if that didn't work long term, they would replace the toilet itself, as mineral deposits may have been creating the leakage. It worked for about 9 months, but the problem began again. This time they replaced the toilet and added another wax seal.

+ 0 morePaul and Ethan were great, performed the work in an hour and a half. The cost of the job was excessive though. The water heater itself only cost $380. $470 to install a water heater seems to be a bit much to me but I can't fault their work - it is excellent if a bit pricey.
Description of Work: Paul & Ethan took away our old water heater and installed a new 40-gallon one.

+ -1 moreA week after I had first used J. Conley Plumbing my rental property was robbed and all the copper plumbing was stolen. Based on my first experience with the company, I called J. Conley and they were very responsive, even though it was the week before Thanksgiving. They came out within a day, and replaced more than 40 feet of copper plumbing in my home. When I discovered a few days later that some valves were missing, they came right out and replaced them at no additional cost.

+ -1 moreIt when excellently. Since I had to work all day Monday, I made an appointment. They came within the 1st 1/2 hour of the appointment window. There was no estimate, due to no water in the house because of a open pipe. They announced who they were and gave me there names at the door. Since I told the office what I needed done, so they when right to work. There was no hanging out at the truck, Ethan and Matt had almost everything that was needed was with them. It took them about 45 minutes to complete. Far as I can tell, they used quality parts. They demonstrated that the toilet needs to be replaced, and I decided I would do that myself. Since I did not shop around I do not know if the price was a good one.
Description of Work: 1) Replace hot & cold supply valves to the bathroom. 2) Replaced nipple (small threaded pipe) and cut off value to the toilet.

John called me first to get me to try various things with the valve before he came out to try and save me the $$, but nothing worked. He replaced the valve within an hour.

+ 0 moreThey were prompt and tried a number of ideas to undue our sewer clog. Once we called with our emergency, they responded quickly, and showed up when promised. Worked for almost five hours trying to free the clog, however, were not able to do so. They were neat and reduced the hourly rate and charge for less time than they were at our home. They also recommended a good company to perform the actual fix (we needed someone with a camera).
Description of Work: Clog in Main sewer pipe drain. Had to remove first floor toilet in order to use snake.

+ -1 moreI have used this company one time before and had good results. I know that my toilet is not making that noise that it once made. I thought they were also in the ballpark for pricing as well. They did have to come out two times. The first time was to order the part and the second was to do the actual job. They charged me for both times. I kind of thought they should not have charged me for both times. They did do the job and it is fine. I have no complaints.
Description of Work: I had two toilets leaking in my home and J Conley came out and repaired them for me. They just gave them a new part and fixed them.

Description of Work: We had a clog that was backed up in the wall of our home. They determined it was a main sewer pipe, so they tore out the drywall, replaced the pipe, and then redid the drywall. This took 2 full days to complete and all garbage was taken away by them.

They arrived within 3 work days (based on my schedule) and completed the job in 1 1/2 hours including cleaning the tub. I had previously called another Angie's list plumber. The other plumber came and gave me a time estimate of 1 1/2 hours with a cost of $350 (excluding parts). I still had to pay the $45 visit fee, but with Conley was still cheaper by almost $100. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Installed new shower nozzle, knobs and drain lever. I supplied the items, but there was a part costing $25 that I did not have. Cleaned lime deposits off of tub which I had been trying to remove for 7 years. Also looked at drip in sink faucet, but advised that the part would need to be ordered.

They charged me only a diagnostic fee of $49 which I thought was very generous. I will use them again for any plumbing problem.

+ -1 moreI called J. Conley and Sons on Tuesday and the phone was promptly answered by a woman who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Happily, there were no answering machines to deal with. She scheduled an appointment for Thursday morning (our request) between 10 and 12. Paul and Ryan arrived at 9:30 am, which was a half hour early and a pleasant surprise. Since the original faucet was installed in 1924, they had to return to the warehouse for a part. They returned promptly and finished installing the faucet and shutoff valves in about an hour. Their work was neat and we are extremely happy with the results. It's nice to have a faucet that can be turned off simply and easily. I will definitely hire this company again for any of our plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Paul and his helper Ryan changed the faucet on the laundry tub in the basement and added shutoff valves to a double bowl soapstone tub.

We've not been happy with several of the contractors we've contacted through Angie's List, and our referral to Conley came to us through a neighbor -- so if you've had a similar run of bad luck with this list, you can rest assured that the people at Conley really do know what they're doing. You'll be very happy with their work.
Description of Work: We had received an extraordinarily high estimate from a subcontractor to have a simple gas line run from our basement into our kitchen for an electric-to-gas conversion for a new stove. After a series of awful and unprofessional dealings with another company and their ''plumbers'' we called J. Conley & Sons. The (real) plumbers from Conley completed the installation in record time, and ran an unobtrusive, durable and flexible line into the kitchen, complete with a regulation cut-off valve. They did some additional work, as well. The total cost was quite reasonable. They lived up to their motto: ''Better, Faster, Cleaner.'' We recommend them, highly.
