They overcharge you for DSL. I live in Rural America. They have jacked up my rates and when i called about it, nothing they could do.They later sent me an email saying guess what " if you ever cancel your DSL service we are requiring you get a land line phone also if you come back at a later date". There fully aware that my only other option is internet by satellite which places data package restrictions on you, or my local cabel Co. . I priced my cable options and they are much cheaper with much higher download speeds. I'm a 1/8 mile from there last serviced house and they (Armstrong cable) will not run the wire. 2: Customer Service, there are often times my internet connection will fall to .50 Gigs download speed and slower. I run the speed test a speedtest.net and verizon will argue with me that my speeds are not really that slow or that they only have to provide a half gig of upload speed per company policy. The two times i argued long enough to get a lineman to the house, he found water in a box somewhere along the line and something to do with chipmunks or field mice i believe in a "switch box" or something.

It's DSL. DirectTv adds their billing onto our Verizon bill. It's a bundle package. Verizon is the only thing we have here. We don't have any other service providers here. We're out in the country and there's nothing available. There's no cable, there's nothing. All we have is Verizon. It's the only one we have, I guess they're good. We don't have a choice. DirectTv is the only thing we can get here other than Dish through satellite.

A year and a half ago I made the mistake of choosing Verizon as an internet service provider. I'd decided to bundle my cable and internet for a montly price of $89.98 + applicable taxes for direct tv with the extended channels 6 receivers (2 HD & 4 standard) and whole home dvr service along with basic internet. It was a fouled up mess from the beginning. They screwed up my original order. This resulted in it taking over 2 weeks to get the internet going past the original date I should have had service..that translated into almost an entire month without internet. As part of my agreement I authorized an auto debit on my checking account. Jan. 5, 2012 I received a bill from them with a due date of Jan. 9, 2012. They withdrew the funds on Dec.27,2011 overdrafting my checking account as they'd withdrawn it prior to billing or any sort of notification. Verizon then started over billing me on a monthly basis. They've not once billed my internet at the $19.95 montly rate I was quoted. They bill me 29.95. When I contacted them their 'fix' was to give me a $10.00 credit. I have to call them every billing cycle to get it corrected. I then noticed I was being billed from the day I placed my order instead of when service began. Verizon's response to my questioning this fact ? They told me I had no way of proving I didn't have internet so they refused to adjust it. Alas, they didn't realize I'd made all of my calls to them from my cell. Therefore, I was able to unequivacably prove that I had not in fact had internet. It took 2 months worth of arguing to get that resolved. Fast forward a year later. In the beginning Direct TV gave me so many months worth of free premium channels. Verizon however, does all the billing. They neglected to tell me that I'd have to call and cancel each and every one of those channels. So, when football season came along again they automatically started billing for the NFL Sunday Ticket. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this until I was 3 months in to football season. Verizon's response? You guessed it. I couldn't prove I wasn't watching it so they wouldn't credit me. At that point, I made the statement that I didn't even know what d*** channel it was on. The Verizon representative told me and I put my tv on that channel..only to receive a message stating that I wasn't a subscriber to that station and to contact a verizon representative to ORDER it. At that point I finally received my billing credits. Verizon immediately mailed me a new bill with a due date of Dec. 9, 2012. According to that bill Verizon owed me $7.35. Nov. 28, 2012 they disconnected my service for non payment of a bill that wasn't even due yet. I've yet to receive a bill that's even close to the $89.98 + taxes they quoted me... As a matter of fact, they never bill me for less then $120.00 a month. Fifteen months into a 24 month contract I'm literally counting the DAYS until I can kick Verizon out of my house & they will never darken my doorstep again. I'd go without cable, internet & what ever the h*** else I'd have to go without to keep Verizon out of my life. I'm not exagerating when I say that if Verizon were the only oxygen provider on the planet I'd happily and willingly suffocate.
