Not very good. They did not do a job that was professional from a carpenter.

Wish I had known about the professional, quality work J&L Contracting does when I started my kitchen renovation. Had I known, I would have avoided a lot of frustration. For future projects, a bathroom redo is next on my list, I?ll count on J&L. Dan Campbell and his crew are that good. Top-notch, quality work. Easy going guys who surprise you only by how far they will go to make sure you are more than satisfied with the outcome of your project. They ask questions about what you want and make changes in plans and design only if you want them. What?s more, J&L doesn?t cut corners. Back to the kitchen project. I started out going to one of the Big Box retailers, asking about moving a doorway between the kitchen and living room, installing three new windows in a sun room (which is now a small bar area), and replacing cabinets and appliances. Big Box said the doorway could not be moved because of its location on a load-bearing wall. Window replacement was no problem for them. Ditto new cabinets. Their cost estimate, though, was high. I vented my frustration during a conversation with an acquaintance who, it turned out, had hired J&L for a more extensive, whole-house renovation. With Dan?s number in hand, I called. A couple days later, he was at my house explaining what he could do. That was my first surprise. Not only could he move the doorway as I had wanted, Dan suggested removing 8 to 10 feet of the wall between the kitchen and living room, creating a more modern open space look. Terrific idea. What about the wall being load-bearing? That didn?t matter. Some caution would be required, that?s all. Replacing the windows, no problem. Envisioning the open space look, I asked about installing a gas fireplace. J&L would have to tap into an existing gas line in my basement, but that, too, wasn?t a problem. J&L doesn?t build kitchen cabinets, but Dan provided the names of some local custom cabinet makers. I signed a contract with J&L for creating the open space, replacing windows. And moving a gas line to where I wanted the fireplace. While waiting for J&L to begin their work, I selected a cabinet designer and manufacturer. Unfortunately, that company delayed and delayed. J&L?s work was progressing. And I was getting frustrated. Expressing my frustrations with Dan, he said J&L would install cabinets and suggested I check out Famous Supply in Uniontown about making the cabinets. I did, and within a day signed a contract with Famous Supply for better quality cabinets at a price more reasonable than what the Big Box store and original cabinet contractor had offered. Dan also gave a recommendation on a reputable appliance retail outlet ? Reese ? and a granite counter top supplier ? C&C Granite. Both exceeded my expectations on time for delivery and reasonable costs. Once again, Dan was helpful. When the cabinet and appliance installation work began, Dan and his crew recommended a couple of plumbing and electrical issues that should be changed or brought up to code, not an uncommon finding in older houses. J&L masterfully made the changes and let me provided a very reasonable cost estimate of the additional work. Cabinets, counter tops, appliances are now in my new kitchen. I couldn?t be happier with the look and the workmanship done by J&L.
