Description of Work: dug to footer on house sealed house created a curtain drain to French drain around house and piped it to storm drain back filled 90% with gravel then fresh soil and mushroom manure and grass seed graded driveway and fresh gravel

+ 0 moreDrive has several cracks. Steps were not level and collects standing rain water when raining, said they would return in April and didn't. Said they would return in May. Nothing. They don't return my calls anymore let alone answer the phone. Beware.
Description of Work: Remove sidewalk, steps, porch and driveway and install new concrete.

Description of Work: Comptons installed a couple walls at my address and started earlier than anticipated. Their price was $3000 below the next lowest Angies list contractor and it made me reluctant to hire them but they were the best. They did more than required and I was very pleased with them.

+ -1 moreI received an offer the last week of March 2014, which I accepted. Compton’s was to send me a proposal that week. I never received the proposal, so I called the middle of the following week to inquire, and the same situation, they said they would send out the proposal. I called once more, without result. Last Saturday, May 10, I talked with a woman, who said her husband would call me later that afternoon. I have not received a call. I do not feel I should have to chase after a company to have them perform a job I am ready to pay them for. Sara Macko

+ -1 moreProvider called back on the 22nd and said they would be here the next day. My husband was very upset and he told them he just wanted his money back. Waiting on the refund.
Description of Work: We made arrangements in June and provider called and cancelled, said they were going on vacation. They wanted to do it on the 15th of July but, we had plans for that week. So, set it up for the 22nd of July and they never showed up. I understand the weather hasn't been that great but we didn't even get a phone call. My husband called them at 9 am on that day and they never returned his call until 5pm. Said they were backed up. Bottom line, bad business! My husband missed a day of work plus a weeks vacation over all of this! We signed a contract and sent them $800.00. We upheld our end!

+ -1 morePhil and his team at Compton's Construction were excellent. I will definitely recommend them to others and would use them again. I wasn't even home when they started moving the tree. I arrived home 4 hours after they started and saw that my old patio was removed and my tree had been moved and it looked like it had been there all along. Phil actually went and got a load of screened dirt to nestle my beloved tree to give it a better chance of survival. The patio was completed in 2 days, exactly as stated in our discussion. The work was seamless and done to my exact specifications. He even added a sealer to my new paver patio which was not stated in my contract. I didn't have to do any clean up, they took care of that. I am so proud of my new patio and am very happy with the outcome. Phil has a good eye and made suggestions to my requests and I am so happy that I chose Compton's.
Description of Work: I wanted a tree to be moved so I could expand our small paver patio. I contacted numerous landscapers and no one wanted to move this 6 foot weeping cherry tree. The tree has extreme sentimental value, my deceased mother picked it out, and I could not bear to just have the tree cut down for the new paver or concrete patio that I wanted. I was losing hope. I saw Compton's Construction advertised in a local paper and thought I would call them and see if there was any possibility for them to give me an estimate for the work I wanted done. I called to get an appointment for an estimate and two days later Phil was at my home measuring and LISTENING to my requests. I told him about the tree and stated that I would not hold him responsible if the tree would not survive after the move. He was confident that it would survive with careful attention during and after the move. I received the estimate ( I couldn't even get an estimate from other landscapers/contractors.) and talked it over with my husband and we decided to go with Compton's. The contract came in the mail the following week and I signed it and mailed it back. Within a week my tree was moved and my new paver patio was installed.

+ 0 moreI initially made contact with Compton's Construction at the Home and Garden Show in Pittsburgh. A date and time was set to review the property and my expectations. The gentleman arrived on time. I told him what I would like to have done and the approximate time frame for completion. He told me how much it would cost and an available time to begin based on his schedule before he left. I did not have to wait days for an estimate. When I called back, several weeks later to have a contract drafted, he remembered my request and my garden. He incorporated an amendment we had not talked about and sent the contract out the next day. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. She called the day before to confirm the date and time they would begin. They arrived on time with equipment and men ready to work. My husband and the neighbors remarked about how well the men worked as a team and were respectful of the neighborhood. No swearing, no excuses. They just did what needed to be done in quick order, in a professional way, at a reasonable cost and the clean up was a plus. This was a job well done. Thank you Compton's Construction
Description of Work: I had two trees and a deteriorated pressure treated retaining wall removed and the hillside terraced with Versa-Lok. Steps were incorporated in the first level. The two walls were approximately 30' in length. A combination of top soil and mushroom manure was added . They also leveled a sitting area in my garden.

They started and completed the job within the time frame given and they were very careful to clean up the area before they left each day. They were one of six bids and were very competitive. It was a great experience working with them. We would definitely recommend them to our friends.
