T-K Mummert Construction LLC

We hired Mummert for 3 jobs. First they redid our family room by taking down old paneling, dry walling, and installing a tile floor. No significant issues there. The problems started with two bathroom remodels--a master suite bathroom, which was expanded and a hall bathroom that was simply remodeled. We had multiple problems with leaky plumbing for both bathrooms, causing damage to our new family room and kitchen ceiling below. Because they had not installed access to plumbing, they had to cut holes in the closets to get to the plumbing to fix some of the leaks (we still have holes in one of the closets). Then they repainted the family room ceiling below twice, not bothering to take down the light fixtures, which were dribbled with paint. And because they only repainted the stained areas, you can still see the edges of the repainted areas. Plus, the ceiling had suffered enough water damage that it wasn't even smooth anymore. After they fixed the first set of leaks, lo and behold, we started getting water damage on the ceiling again. As it turns out, they had left an old failing copper drain pipe under the shower, which they discovered when they finally cut a hole in our family room ceiling track down the source of the leak. When they saw the problem, they actually accused us of having put something down the pipe to ruin it! Then, instead of replacing the entire pipe, they cut out only part of the failing pipe and replaced that section with PVC. They put an initial patch in the ceiling, and said they would finish the job later. That was several months ago now--and they have not returned our calls to finish the job. The ceiling is still unfinished.

Simply put..great. We loved working with them. Tom and Kevin are great as are all of their subs. Very knowledgeable, professional, etc. across the board. I highly recommend them and they have done work for 2 other families we know as well.

Not only can I not recommend T-K Mummert, but also I highly recommend potential customers not bother to waste any time with them at all. I had Tom out to my home for an estimate back in mid-July. I approved the estimate and asked him to schedule the work. Was originally told it would be 3 ? 4 weeks due to their current schedule. Mine was a small, 1-2 day job and wasn?t urgent, so I had no problem waiting. Thus began a ridiculous process of false commitments, no shows, and complete lack of responsiveness. Based on the other positive reviews on Angie?s List for this contractor (albeit none that are recent) and my job not being especially urgent, I was patient and allowed their poor follow-up to go on for far too long. After two calls from me about scheduling with no response, I finally got a call from Tom on August 20th. He said he was tied up on another job that kept getting extended and asked me to wait 2 more weeks, which I agreed to do. After another 3 weeks with no word from him, I began calling. We eventually agreed to have the work done Mid-September. On the day of the work, Tom?s wife called and said he was sick and would not be coming and he would call me back to reschedule. After another week, I had to call again because I never heard from them. The work was then scheduled again for September 25th. It rained that day and they just simply didn?t show up or call me. Several days later I began calling again and after leaving 2 separate messages I finally got a call back on September 30th wherein I was told they were too busy and understaffed, and couldn?t tell me when they could do the work. This is when I told Tom not to bother as I would not waste any more time on them. So, after 3 months of being extremely patient thru multiple false promises, no shows, and unreturned phone calls, I am back to square one and have to find a new contractor. Again, I highly recommend you not waste your time with T-K Mummert in any way, shape or form.

Tom and company were very easy to work with. His estimate was very reasonable for the work involved, and he gave us an itemized contract before the work started so we knew exactly what was to be done. There were no hidden costs during the work. They always left our house cleaner than they found it. Most importantly, we love our new bathrooms. In fact, we loved the work in our master that we asked them to do our guest bath too. The work done is quality work and it looks beautiful. We would highly recommend Tom and use him for any other home projects in the future.

We were very pleased with Tom and Kevin's work. They were always prompt, cleaned up, and explained everything. Originally we were not going to do the kitchen floor, but after the walls were removed, it made sense to go ahead and do the kitchen floor as well. They worked quickly and efficiently, and in fact, they were ready to finish the job before we were. We had ordered two new unfinished cabinets from another source, and the cabinets did not arrive until well after Christmas. But Tom and Kevin quickly finished the installation once I notified them that the cabinets had arrived. We appreciated Tom's advice and suggestions throughout our project, and we would certainly use them again.

I HAD A CONTRACTOR ABANDON MY BATHROOM REMODEL AND THESE GUYS CAME TO MY RESCUE WHEN I CALLED TOM CAME OUT THE VERY NEXT DAY TO SURVEY THE JOB. WITHIN 36 HOURS HE HAD AN ESTIMATE FOR ME. 2 DAYS LATER THEY STARTED THE JOB THEY WERE QUICK, EFFICIENT, KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING AND CLEAN. NO B.S.. JUST SHOWED UP EARLY AND STAYED UNTIL THE JOB WAS FINISHED. tHEY WERE AQTUALLY DONE 2 DAYS EARLY. I AM THRILLED WITH THE WORK THEY DID AND WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE

The portico was repaired in what appears to be an acceptable manner. High hat lighting also appears to have been installled in an acceptable fashion. Unfortunately, the remaining jobs were not performed to an acceptable level. Probably, some of the blame is on myself for not checking on the work being done. I recently checked in our attic for how the exhaust venting was installed for the bathroom fans and what I found was an unacceptable job which is now about a year out and now looking for someone to come and redo the job that was done. For one bathroom I located one exhaust vent running straight into a soffit without a proper soffit exhaust vent. On another exhaust vent which we were primarily concerned with I found the exhaust venting run about 20 feet horizontally and y-connected into another bathroom exhaust. This made no sense when the exterior wall was less than 10 feet away on the other side. What we are left with is a bathroom exhaust fan that does not remove any moisture because the length is inappropriately long and the other bathroom which now fills with odor because the y- connection that runs into it. If I could post a picture it would be able to show the quality level of the work. Truly unfortunate because when we originally interviewed for the work we were told differently how the fans would be vented. We shouldn't to be hiring someone else to correct a job that was paid to be performed right the first time.

The project was done very well and efficiently. They were on time and on budget. No surprises. Very professional. We were able to buy our own cabinets as we desired a specific color and style. No problem with this. there were great subcontractors used for the tile, floors and painting. Tom and Kevin are the best.

My experience with T-K Mummert Construction wasn't that good. The seal coating didn't last. The price was at the low-end and then I got suckered in.

I would recommend reaching out to Tom to discuss any work you need done in and around your house.

So happy with the results. They considered every detail and did a great job. I'm definitely going to use them again for my next project.

We had the best experience in dealing with Tom. He is extremely responsive, gets back to you right away. Provides pricing up front. Sticks to his time frame given. Would refer to anyone!

Tom is friendly, dependable and professional. Provides written estimate that was accurate as well as time frame for completion. Good communicator and supervisor of crew. Excellent work. Will definitely use again.

Mostly a very positive experience, all work was done in timeframe promised. Woodwork for sills and trim work that had to be made were made quickly and well done, despite pieces that I knew were a little tricky to create for my older home. Plasterer did a great job and there was a lot of it. I like the windows that were contracted, they were just as they were advertised to be and the installation was quick. My concerns were that I had to ask for the finish trim work on the outside windows to be finished as stated in our contract and the outside kitchen trim is still not completed in a satisfactory manner but all the rest were. The southern attic window area was left with all of the broken glass from old window on the inside and also all over the ground on the outside, I took that as an oversight and did not mention that to Tom.

I contacted Tom, he called me back within 48 hrs. and came the next night to give us an estimate. He was extremely professional and explained exactly what needed to be done, in detail. He was the first contractor to explain that there was venting in the wall which needed to be moved. Every other contractor neglected to mention that detail which probably would have added to their cost later. It was immediately obvious that he had been doing this type of work for many years and took pride in his work. He gave us an estimate and told us to give him a call if we were interested. We knew immediately that we wanted him to do the work. We called him the next day, he sent a contract giving details of the project and the cost. He purchased everything needed for the job. He started the project the following week and was finished within 5 days. The job came in at $2,000 exactly as promised. We needed 6 lights installed in the ceiling, which he also handled for an additional $1,000. His estimate was significantly lower than the other two contractors we contacted and he gave more details about the work which needed to be done. For $3,000, he removed part of a bearing wall, moved venting to another wall, drywalled an existing double door, taped and spackled where needed, installed french doors and a small portion of hardwood flooring. He cleaned up each night and always arrived on time. Tom was wonderful. I will absolutely call him for any projects which require a professional.

Tom was able to work me into his schedule quickly. He and his helper did a great job. They are professional and clean-I was very comfortable with them in our house. I thought the price was very reasonable. The shower works perfectly and is exactly what I want. As to Tom, l use them again.

Tom is the owner of the company. He is very courteous and professional. He was in and out within 2 hours. He is very reasonable. I was very pleased with the work he did. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

T-K Mummert was the fourth company I interviewed before hiring and the first company I used my membership on Angie's List to locate. Tom Mummert responded promptly and professionally. Unlike others, he respected my decison to provide the cabinetry and flooring for the project. (Too often contractors use this issue as a means to increase costs on a job.) I liked the fact that Tom's attitude was encouraging and lacking any mention of "how difficult" any of my desires would be to build. (again this was a refreshing difference from other contractors who would make side comments about how costly such and such would be). All work was performed by or directly supervised by Tom who was on the job site ninety-five percent of the time. The job was completed on budget and in a timely manner, despite my regular "adaptations".

Top quality work completed professionally, on time and on budget. Everyone working on my project was a class act and the quality of the plumbing and tile work was first class. They cleaned up every day and Mr. Mummert provided a call each day with a status update. When I wanted to make some last minute changes, he came to the house on a Saturday with a book and offered suggestions. I do not work in the area and they never complained that I called them during evening or weekend hours. All contractors should be this conscientious. I am about to engage them again for a larger project and give my highest recommendation.

We could not be more pleased! This was a top notch professional job from start to finish... on time and on budget. First, let me say that this work was performed on an historic house that was originally constructed in 1733. The work involved designing a roof structure to replace a badly deteriorated balcony that covered approximately one-third of a wrap around exterior porch. It also involved replacing a badly deteriorated door from the master bedroom to the balcony and then designing a framwork for installing an appropriate window. Mr. Mummert personally manufactured and then installed interior trim woodwork to perfectly match existing woodwork. Considering that the walls of the house are almost 20 inches thick, the project was a real challenge. Tom Mummert is certainly number one on our list for any future projects! Hope he doesn't retire before we do! Thanks to Angie's list for helping us make this wonderful connection!

If I had to describe how this job went, it would be "perfect". The impeccable quality of work aside, Tom and Kevin were extremely professional, courteous, on time and you could just tell that they care. The fact that I did not have to remind them to do something, or chase them around trying to determine when they were coming, or clean up afterwards...priceless. The quality of work was just tremendous and when I say "they care" I am referring to them going above and beyond on every aspect of the job as if it were their own home. They don't do just enough to satisfy the job, they "sweep the corners" and cover the details. I was particularly impressed when Tom called on a Saturday to "re-review and re-measure" the closet specs with me to "ensure it was exactly what I wanted and was perfect." In addition to that, I was able to supply them with window casing that I had left over from a previous job and they knocked that off the price. I'm sure most people just would have charged the same price. I would highly recommend T-K Mummert to anyone in need of any job, large or small. We will most definitely use them again if we need a future project. Thanks again guys!!

This team of father and son has done excellent remodeling for us many times since 1984. (Of course the son was a little boy and not part of the team then!) Over the years in two different homes, they have replaced siding, build a bedroom and bathroom, installed lighting, replaced sliding doors and windows, leveled a wood floor, remodeled a laundry-room/ mud-room, and created an amazing master bath. They are extremely honest and pleasant. All the people who work for them are hard-working, honest, clean and polite. The last big jobs they did were the remodel of the master bath and laundry room. They supplied great ideas and the results are so beautiful, very functional and done extremely well. They think of things, including designs, that I could not imagine. They flipped around the mud room and laundry room to make a more pleasant entry and a more functional laundry. The master bath job included a change from flat to cathedral ceiling with a skylight. Beautiful! When we have fixtures or cabinets we own and want to use they incorporate them into the plans.They have added value to our home and beauty in our lives.
