I finally got around to calling and inquiring and they told me yes they constantly increase price. i had to call and request a lower price if i wanted. I found out others were paying much less for same service. I switched companies and pay 1/3 of what i was paying

They currently charge $115 per quarter. A few days ago, they sent me a Service Agreement which covered a three-year commitment for $139.50. The price would hold for a year, After that, they could raise it 8% each of the remaining two years. The Agreement was full of holes and did not specify whether trash would be picked up once a week or twice a week for that price. Nor did it specify recycling would be picked up. Very sloppy. I asked if they would discontinue service if I did not sign it and they said no. This got me to thinking what other companies charge (hint - far less) and I will be switching as soon as this quarter is up.

I have fought with this horrible company for the last two years. They r-e-g-u-l-a-r-l-y miss picking up the trash. Just this past week, I had to have a special pick up done as they failed to do it the week prior. I was told the driver has to check in with the office for the next four weeks when stopping at my house for collection. Surprise, surprise - they collected the trash but not the recyclables. Had to call in AGAIN after their last reassurances. This is very common with these overpriced under-servicing thieves. Yes, thieves as they have no problem cashing in my checks. Do anything you can to avoid them. Burn your trash instead. Eating your trash is a better option. !!!STAY AWAY!!! Oh and by the way, I had the cans out the night before...

We have had Allied Waste for too many years. We kept giving them one more chance, but on average once a month or every 6 weeks, they wouldn't pick up our trash and i would have to call and have them make a special pick up or wait another week for my trash to be picked up. We paid extra for in yard pick up, but when they did pick it up, they didn't always put the cans back where they got them from. A couple of times they were in the driveway blocking my our way to our car. We can't move the cans ourselves, so would have to call a family member to come move the cans back to where they should be.

The garbage collectors were great. I rarely, if ever, had a problem with anyone getting my trash and recycling. My billing would change nearly every quarter. I must have called in 7 or 8 times over several years to get them to change it back to the previous rate. I finally got tired of doing this and quit the service. I wouldn't go back.

They are reliable, have bare bones customer service and are more expensive than other services in the area. I will continue to use them for now because they offer twice weekly pickup which I need during gardening season as I have lots of pruning and garden waste and my yard does not have enough space for a compost pile. However, if they keep increasing the price every quarter I will look for a different supplier.
Description of Work: On the plus side they pick up twice every week. On the minus side is the ever increasing bill with no explanation given. Last quarter it was $95, this quarter $100. I suspect the reason no explanation is forthcoming is because they have been criticized in the past for increasing the bill with a 'fuel surcharge' even when the cost of fuel decreased. There was also, if I remember correctly, some sort of extra 'administrative' charge which one would think would be covered in overhead. When Evergreen made a big push in 2010 to sign up new customers at a much cheaper rate than Allied was charging Allied began to lower the price. They only did so if you called to cancel.

Originally AW made pick ups on Tuesday and Friday. They decided to change this to Monday and Thursday, which meant that when holidays fell on a Monday, we lost one pick up per week. They did not make up the missed collection nor did they reduce the price. If you had a trash item to be picked up it could not be larger than 4 feet in any dimension and had to be light enough for one person to handle because, as they told me, we only send out the small truck on Fridays and there is only one man on it. At the beginning of this year, I somehow missed the quarterly payment to AW (only 1 payment was missed at this time and maybe 3 overall during nearly 8 years as a customer) and when I got a nasty letter threatening to terminate my service I called them and apologized. They told me 'no problem' and I paid the bill over the phone for the full amount they asked for. The next bill had a $35 late charge on it. I paid it. The next bill had another late fee on it. I called and told them that they should have told me about that when I paid the bill, when I would have paid it without question. They agreed and said they would waive the charge. I told them that their $35 fee had just cost them a customer and that I was terminating the service. They asked why and I told them that nasty letters and unexplained late fees were not acceptable - but they couldn't understand why I was upset as they had waived the fee. 2 weeks later I got a bill for the next quarter (which had already been canceled) and it had a $5 late fee which had been assessed on the $35 late fee that they had waived! Their garbage pick up was erratic at best. Their billing processes were awful and the nasty letters with threats of discontinuance were sent out without any warning that a payment was overdue.
Description of Work: Allied Waste became our garbage collection company when they bought out BFI. They supposedly collected garbage twice per week and recycling once per week. They also provided trash pick up of large items once per week.

I would tell them that they could be better. I used to have Waste Management and sometimes I wish had stayed with Waste Management instead of going with Allied Waste. Now they have two different things you have to pay for. It used to be just the collection of garbage. But now it is recyclable and garbage. A lot of times they leave the trash cans in the streets. They come at all crazy times. You can't depend on them coming at a, I mean they been doing a little better now. Sometimes they come real late at night. Undependable in coming on time. I changed because they were a little than Waste Management. It seems like little by little it has gone up. Eventually they will probably be they will probably be the same eventually. It is a little less than Waste Management.

We have put a lot of stuff out. We are going to be moving and they have taken it all. I have no problem with them; they have been great. We pay about $175 every quarter and they don't charge any extra for things to be picked up. They are a very reliable trash disposal company. At the beginning of the year they send out a schedule for the year so that you know if there is a holiday that falls on one of your trash pickup days when it is going to fall again. We have never had any problems with them and I will use them again in the future.

On two occasions since my last report, I contacted Allied Waste, once (by phone) to ask for a replacement trash container (the existing one is cracked), the second (via message form on Allied Waste's website) to find out when I could leave an old dehumidifier by the curb for pickup and the cost. Neither inquiry was responded to. I just checked its BBB rating, which is "F." Among the reasons for the failing grade from BBB include the number of complaints during the period covered (24), the number of unresolved complaints (7), and the length of time it has taken Allied Waste to resolve problems. The message I take away from all this is that Allied Waste puts customer service way down on it's list priorities. It has not only been unresponsive to me, but based on the BBB's complaint resolution summary and other reports on Angie's List, my experience is clearly not unusual.
Description of Work: This is a followup to my January 2011 report. Over the past four quarters, our trash bill has gone up over 23% with no apparent change in the quality of service, nor with any explanation for the increases.

I have been a customer of Allied Waste since it purchased BFI several years ago. In the five years BFI serviced me, rates went up 20%. In the six years since Allied Waste purchased BFI, rates have gone up 37%. At the same time, pickups have been slightly less reliable, and I occasionally (but not rarely) find trash on the street next to my can. In comparing prices among the four garbage collection companies operating in my township, Allied Waste's prices are the highest--and another substantial increase is set for next quarter. I would feel better about the increase if I knew why--with inflation as low as it has been--the increase is justified. Note: the quoted fee of $125 is the quarterly charge. This is going up about 10% more in the next billing cycle.

I noticed that my trash dumpster had been emptied but the other trash was just left there on the street by Allied Waste with no notice or rejection tag or anything. So I called them. Me: Why was the rest of my trash not picked up? A.W: What kind of trash did you have and how much? Me. Regular Trash in bags and boxes. More than usual because of cleaning the Garage. AW: Well Sir, we don't have an unlimited service. Me: I pay you regularly. Sometimes I have no trash at all- this time I have a bit more than usual and you just leave it on the street with no type of explaination? Either pick up my trash up TODAY or cancel my account! AW: Well...we'll do it this time... as a courtesy. (Here's where it got really bad.) THEN THEY PROCEEDED NOT TO SHOW UP AS PROMISED - WITH NOT AS MUCH AS A PHONE CALL Upon calling them the supervisor explained that it would cost them money to come back to collect the trash they left. So they wouldn't be returning. (EVEN THOUGH THEY PROMISED THEY WOULD) and in the future I should call them when I have more trash then usual so they can charge me an additional $60.00. So I fired them and hired a different provider. They are $60.00 cheaper per quarter and they have UNLIMITED residential pickup. The time has passed for giving money to companies who care about money and not service.

They have been consistently fine with collecting standard trash and recycling. However, we have had multiple problems with bulk items. When we first moved in to our current house, I called about the carpet that had been taken out to the curb by the previous owner. We were told it would be fine. It was not until I called back to ask why they hadn't collected it that they told me they would only take four rolls per week. In the interim, everything had gotten wet, so I had to lug wet rolls of carpet and padding up my driveway and then lug four rolls per week back to the curb. Since then, we placed a mattress on the curb, which was left behind several times despite multiple phone calls and several assurances that it would be collected. We then added another bulk item. We called to inform them that there were two bulk items since the first one had been left multiple weeks. We were told they would pick up both items. They did not... for several weeks... despite multiple phone calls. I finally got through to one woman who was very nice and very professional and took care of it. She sent the driver back out on a day for which he was not scheduled. If it were not for that one woman, we would no longer be using this company. As far as I'm concerned, they have two strikes.

They continually would miss pick-ups, even though trash was out the night before. They were very good about crediting my account (a very meager amount) each time I called (at least they said they did - I never saw a "credit" line item, just a fluctuating billed amount). Here is my deal, they KNOW when they did and didn't pick it up, they should credit the account when the service is not performed. Not make me wait until I have time to call and complain. Now that it is happening at least once every month, I am looking for a new company.
