You NEVER PAID US $120.00 AS YOU INDICATED...as we NEVER performed services for you in October 2016. Secondly, you utilized our company one (1) time in 2012 for an annual clean/service/heating tune up. We have never heard from you since that 2012 preventative maintenance appointment. You have been utilizing another contractor from 2013 on....You indicated (which we have on your account) that you had been repeatedly call the contractor you had been utilizing over the last 3 1/2 - 4 years, but he never showed up for scheduled appointments and won't return your calls. We NEVER made an appointment with you....we indicated to you that our current customers were our priority and we were booked for the next two (2) weeks to meet our current customers needs and jobs already committed to. You indicated that you would continue to call your current contractor and call us back. You called back and we still had no availability to meet your needs. Letter of Appreciation Last month, two gentlemen came to our home to do some plumbing repair work. They were from the Mike Meredick?s M & M Company. We explained our problems. They reviewed the areas and informed us what was necessary for the job. We had four separate areas of concern. They left for 10 or 15 minutes to purchase parts and in less than 2 hours the task was completed. They let us know what was needed, why it was required, how long it should take, and approximately how much it should cost. They did a fantastic job. We understand the work was done a month ago but the job they did still speaks for itself. We are so happy to have contacted this company. M & M Plumbing is one of the most professional companies we've had the pleasure doing business with! The work M&M did for us met, if not exceeded our expectations. They were punctual, professional and extremely personable. We would certainly use M&M again in the future if the need arises.

When I called, the secretary (very nice) said that they were very busy doing air conditioners, but she would do her best to get us in quickly. I wasn't able to have the service done until Thursday anyway, so she was able to schedule me that day. The gentleman came out right on time and fixed the problem in about 10 minutes. Very professional and wonderful office personnel to work with! Thank you all so much!

M & M was great to work with from start to finish. I recommend them highly. They arrived to survey the job as scheduled within a day or two after I contacted them, and followed up a few days thereafter with a detailed three page estimate that was very competitive with other estimates. I was able to discuss the estimate over the phone in detail with the owner who answered all of my questions directly and completely. Subsequently, M & M completed the job in its entirety on time in one day at the price estimated. M & M conducted themselves in what I consider to be a highly professional manner. A few weeks after the job was completed a relative of mine that was in the heating and plumbing business before his retirement surveyed the completed work. He said that he found nothing amiss and that in his opinion the job was well done and without any corners cut. For instance, he was impressed by the piping design and how the joints were laid out and connected as if by someone that knew his craft well. He said he didn?t see any cheap foreign parts or anything else to detract from the quality of the work, noting that three capped connectors were already in place should I ever decide to hook up other devices such as a gas dryer, gas grill and gas fireplace. I initially contacted M & M in September, and instead of hurrying me along, they recommended waiting on the installation until after more of the valuable oil left in my tanks was drawn down. They then worked with me on the final timing of the installation until mid-December, and that saved me a lot of money. During the intervening time other questions came to my mind and I had the opportunity to speak several times with Carolyn who manages the office side of their business. She always returned my calls promptly or emailed back and addressed all of the issues I raised, and without minimizing any of my concerns. A month or so later, I had M&M back to do a small job on a radiator leak that over the years had been a problem. The owner and an assistant showed up on time and tried several ways to fix the problem without my having to buy a new part needed in the end. All in all, more of the same excellent service that I am expecting now to be able to rely on into the future.
Description of Work: M & M Plumbing and Heating supplied and installed a new natural gas steam boiler and a separate water heater in my approximate 1200 sq. ft. residence. Also, they installed and connected new gas piping from the outside gas company meter to each unit and connected the service to a new gas stove. In addition, they removed from downstairs basement the old oil steam boiler, propane water heater and two 275 gallon oil tanks that contained about 50 gallons of oil.

During the height of the bitter cold weather; we called M&M with what we thought was a plumbing issue...left message to call back. Shortly thereafter, we received a call back and after hearing the description of our issue, were advised that our problem was likely a septic issue and referred us to a company who was better qualified to handle it. We appreciated so much M&M's consideration in taking the time to discuss our issue and then not taking advantage of our situation by sending someone out and charging us knowing it was not likely a plumbing issue. Additionally, the company we were referred to was very helpful and professional.

We have used Mike several times now for general maintenance of our two furnaces and minor repair work but this was the first time he has done a major job. Every time Carol his wife has walked us through every step of making the appointment and giving us a approx. time. If things run late carol is always on the ball to let you know and handles it in a professional manner. Since we had such great success on minor jobs we went through with the new high efficiency furnace. Mike and his crew handled the job easily and were done promptly. I have used his name now to several family members and friends and they have had the great same service! Let me tell you for this area.........THAT IS NOT COMMON!.....Mike and Carol have me for a customer for life!

Took the employees a little while to locate exact location of leak in garage and repair. Hacked at two portions of our drywall to get to pipe in living room. But repaired problem and haven't had any problems since.

The service went excellent. They returned my calls promptly and came out exactly when they said they would. They worked very clean and did not spill any oil anywhere. It was excellent service. I would call them again if I needed any service work done.

The whole project was excellent. When walking through to develop the estimate, M & M took the time to explain how the system works and the options which were available for equipment and installation. They returned to adjust the plans based on our questions and preferences. The price was reasonable based on other estimates we got. The installation process was beautifully done in a professional manner as scheduled. We will go back to them for future air conditioning and plumbing work.
Description of Work: We had a Fujitsu Multi-Zone Ductless Mini-Split heat oump/air conditioning system installed in our home. It serves 3 bedrooms. Each has its own wall mounted unit operated off of one outside unit.

First off, I have to say I really wanted to like these guys. They were courteous on the phone and were all-around nice people. However, things just didn't work out. I called M&M to come and take a look at my central air/forced air unit because it wasn't functioning. The air wasn't cold and there was no air coming out of most of the vents. They sent two guys out who looked around the house at the unit and the rooms. They didn't really have an answer for us and said they had to call the owner in to get a better idea of what was going on. They charged me $65 for a service call although they really didn't do anything. We made an appointment for a week or so later for Mike to come in and check the system out. He showed up nearly one hour late (no phone call). He said he decided to sleep in because he had been traveling the previous couple days and that his employee had to come and wake him up. My wife and I were literally 5 minutes from leaving for the day because we were getting tired of waiting with no calls. When they showed up, Mike and Joe did another walk around the house looking at everything. They found that the compressor was empty and that they saw one point where there was a leak. They found some issues with the duct work as well. They were admittedly confused by the installation design of the system and once again said they had to bring someone else in for yet another opinion. We made the appointment for five days later during the morning ("around 11am"). I live 30 minutes from work, so I had to leave at 10:30am to get home for 11. I waited until 11:35am, then called their office and left a voice mail stating I couldn't wait anymore and had to go back to work. Driving back to work another 30 minutes, I will have lost 90 minutes of work time (and pay). I got a call when I was nearly back to work telling me they were stuck in traffic and should be there soon. Now, when I have an appointment and am going to be late, I have the sense to call my customer and let them know so they're not waiting. To me, "around 11am" means anywhere from 10:50 to 11:10. Not 11:30. Not 11:40. Not 11:50, especially without any phone call letting me know they were stuck in traffic. They let me sit and wait and eventually be forced to leave and go back to work so I wouldn't lose any more money. I can't understand how someone can conduct business like that. At least have the courtesy to call me and tell me you're going to be 40 minutes late. In the end, this ordeal cost me nearly three weeks of time that I could have had someone else examining and hopefully fixing my system, $65 for a service call where no service was done (I thought they had free estimates?), $45 from missed work, and 30 miles in gas to drive back and forth. It's too bad because now I need to start over with a new company and go through all of this again. It's going to start getting cold soon and we don't have any heat. I know M&M has a lot of excellent ratings and I think they probably deserve them. However, my particular experience was not good and based on that, I would be hesitant to refer them to anyone.

Mr. (member name removed), We are sorry that you are unsatisfied. Your appointment with Mike and the Engineer was scheduled for between 11:00am & 11:30am on Thursday morning. We are sorry if there was any type of misunderstanding between us. Unfortunately, when you called at 11:35am to say that you had to leave Carolyn was on the phone with another customer that had issues as a result of the storm the night before. She immediately called back to let you know that Mike was 4-5 minutes from your home and that unfortunately they were delayed on Keyser Ave due to unexpected traffic delays. Unfortunately you would not answer Carolyn's numerous calls made over the 11:40 am and 11:55 am time period, nor did you return any of Carolyn's calls. In a service business, we do the best we can to arrive within the time frame, which is usually a 2 hour time frame not a 30 minute time frame, that we have given to the customer. On this particular day there were numerous traffic delays throughout Lackawanna County as a result of the storm the night before as well as road and bridge projects. We pride ourselves on on our excellent work, reasonable pricing, communication with our customers and timeliness. Unfortunately, there are just some situations in our business and in life that are out of our control. In this case, it was the traffic. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to you. It was not our intention to inconvenience you or upset you. In addition, the $65.00 charge was a diagnostic charge, which is normally $75.00, but was discounted $10 for being an Angie's List Member/New Customer. Your initial appointment (8/29) was a NO AC/Low Air Flow/Not cooling service call. At the time of the call Carolyn did indicate to you that the minimum charge would be $75.00. You indicated you understood and were agreeable to that. Joe did diagnosis some issues as well as indicated to you that he would need to have the owner return to evaluate other issues with the system. We did not charge you for the 2nd appointment (9/7), wherein Mike came with our technician Joe to evaluate your system. Carolyn indictated that there would be no charge to you for the 2nd appointment at the time of scheduling. We apologize that you feel he was an hour late, but you had indicated to Carolyn that between 9 & Noon on Saturday was fine due to you and your wife having to wait for a utility or cable company that was scheduled to arrive between 8:00 and Noon on Saturday. Carolyn did indicate that she would try to have Mike there between 9 & 11am, but definately by Noon. We apologize if Mike's honesty about him being tired from traveling upset you and your wife. Mike is as honest as they come, and he knew you were aware of his recent trip to Fort Sill and didn't feel a need to be dishonest with you. In addition, Carolyn indicated to you that you were you were not going to be charged for Mike and his Engineer to evaluate and provide you with a resolution. Your situation is unusual or unique due to your central ac/heat being found to be empty and non-functioning, therefore no immediate or quick resolution was available. This is why the third appointment (9/12) with the Engineer was necessary. The only urgency or deadline you indicated for a resolution to your heating/ac system was before Winter. Our intention was to assist you in resolving this issue not only with correcting the heating/ac system to be functional, but in the most cost effective way, especially since you just purchased the home. We pride ourselves not only on the most cost effective resolution, but also in finding a resolution that will benefit the customer in the long term. In addition, as for your unhappiness in the length of time between appointments, Carolyn made sure you that you were aware that Mike would not be able to meet with you for the 2nd appt. until Saturday (9/7) due to him being in Oklahoma for his daughter's graduation from the US Army Basic Combat Training as well as family day. Per Carolyn's telephone conversation with you, you seemed to be fine with waiting until that time as you would not have to take time off from work and you had to be at the house during that time frame anyway. You again indicated you just needed it resolved before Winter. Unfortunately we do not have any control over the Engineer's schedule and the soonest he was available was Thursday (9/12), and he does not work on Saturday. At the time of your telephone conversation with Carolyn, you seemed fine with that time frame as well. Again, we realize that you just purchased this home and this is a stressful situation for you and your family. It was not nor would it ever be our intention to inconvenience you, upset you, or cause you to miss time from work. Our intention was to resolve your heating/ac situation in the best and most cost effective way possible. We're sorry that you feel your experience with our Company was not good. We enjoyed meeting with you and looked forward to a long term relationship. Unfortunately, it does not appear that that will be the case. We sincerely wish you and your family the best and much happiness in your new home, as well as a timely resolution to your heating and central ac system.

Mike promised me he'd email me the two estimates and follow the email up with a phone call to go over them within three days of his visit. He never emailed or called me. After a few days, I called his wife; she told me Mike was very busy and that he'd call me the next day with the estimates. He never called AGAIN. I waited a few more days, and once again called his office. His wife told me he would call me on a Monday--almost two weeks after his first estimate was to be emailed. That call, too, did not occur. I did get his email, however. It did contain two estimates. The estimate for the boiler replacement was high. The estimate to replace the part was also high, so I checked for the part's cost on line. The part cost $240.00. His price to do the job was $650.00. I consider his response to my requests to be totally unreliable and inconsiderate. His prices are way too high for me!! .
Description of Work: I called M & M Plumbing/Heating for an estimate to replace a part on my heating system that was vibrating. I was concerned it was going to quit working. Mike promptly came within a few days to check out the boiler. He promised me two separate estimates: one to replace the deteroiating part and a 2nd to replace the entire boiler with a "more efficient" product. We are sorry that you are dissatisfied with the Estimate we have provided along with the time it took for Mike to prepare your Estimate. As the “wife”, Carolyn, indicated and explained to you on the telephone, Mike is a Submarine Veteran and was involved in Veteran’s Day activities throughout the Veteran’s Day weekend. She apologized on his behalf and also indicated to you at the time of your appointment Mike probably didn't realize all the commitments he had made to various activities throught the weekend, and that he would not be able to make a three (3) day turn around on your Estimate. You indicated that you understood that and were fine with that. That would be considered to be "leveling with the client". In addition, Carolyn also explained to you that Mike is committed to numerous jobs throughout the coming week and we would be providing you with a summary of the three (3) Estimates and follow-up by emailing a DETAILED Estimate. After you received the Summary that was emailed to you, you contacted the office and it was indicated to you, as was in the email, that the detailed Estimate would be coming within the next few days. It was also indicated to you that Mike and his technicians due to being behind schedule as result of extended power outages from Hurricane Sandy, jobs and installations committed to and emergency service calls, he was not returning to the office until after 9pm for several days and he was not comfortable calling customers at 10pm at night. Again, that would be considered to be "leveling with the client". During that telephone conversation it was also indicated to you that the manufacturer was offering a considerable consumer rebate, but the installation had to take place on or before December 31st, 2012. Again, you expressed your interest in doing the boiler replacement by stating “I would rather do the new boiler now than to spend the money to do the repairs now and then next year the new boiler installed, but I don’t have that kind of money right now.” Carolyn indicated to you that we accept all major credit cards and you stated “I don’t have or use credit cards, I’m retired”. It was then recommended that you apply for a loan at your local bank or credit union, or apply for a loan through the KeystoneHelp Program, and you indicated “I don’t want to do that because I don’t want to pay interest.” You then inquired if our company has an In-House Financing/Payment Plan. You were informed that we did, but the In-House Payment Plan was for our CURRENT customers that have been established with our Company for more than FIVE (5) years with an excellent and timely payment history. You indicated that you could pay the deposit but would need payments through May of 2013. It was indicated to you that it is NOT OUR COMPANY POLICY to extend the In-House Payment Plan to new customers, but that Carolyn would inquire with the other owner, Mike. Carolyn DID NOT make any promise of when she and the other owner, Mike would discuss this or inform you of their decision, but DID PROMISE to you email you the detailed Estimate. AS PROMISED, the detailed Estimate was emailed to you along with the Rinnai Rebate previously discussed with you. You then sent an email replying that you were “confused” and “assumed” our Company did not want the job because it indicated that there was a required deposit and the balance due upon completion. Again, NO PROMISE was made to you when we would discuss, decide and/or inform you of the Company’s decision to provide you with In-House Payment Plan. Mike contacted you that same day in the evening to discuss with you the two (2) boiler prices vs. the boiler repair, and the part replacement as he thought that was what you were confused about. You made it clear that you were upset that Mike had indicated that a deposit was due upon acceptance and the balance upon completion; and that the email did not contain or discuss the In-House Payment Plan option for you. We believe our Estimate to repair your existing boiler, replace your existing boiler with the choice/option of two (2) different Rinnai Boilers (96.5% eff) were fair, reasonable and competitive. In addition, the part price you indicated is incorrect. In reviewing your paperwork and Estimate, it is clearly indicated that THE PART estimate Mike gave you was $550.00, not $650.00 as you indicated. In addition, the price given wasn’t just for THE PART; it included THE PART, misc. materials, and labor to install THE PART. We believe it to be inconsiderate of you to have posted an unfavorable Review due to our Company not approving you for an In-House (Interest Free) Payment Plan which, depending on the boiler chosen, would have totaled $6,950.00 - $7,550.00. We do not know you, have no credit history on you, and believe it to be UNREASONABLE for a stranger to even think that a small company would extend that amount of credit. As indicated to you numerous times, our customers without heat during this time of year as well as those customers with emergency sewer and/or plumbing problems are our priority. These situations happen unexpectedly, but deserve our prompt service along with providing uninterrupted and timely services to our current customers that have scheduled appointments or jobs. You have heat, running water and no sewage in your basement or backing up into your home. Your concern was “fear” of breaking, it was addressed promptly and you were provided with several Estimates to address repairs, parts, as well as boiler replacement. We wish you much luck and success in finding the contractor of your dreams and hope your “fear” of breaking doesn’t happen prior to finding one.

Mike and his assistant were prompt, thorough, genial, and professional. They serviced our furnace, found oversights made by previous service "professionals"and corrected the problems. They showed us the problems and explained them in layman's terms. Had they not been so thorough, we might well have had some cold winter nights. They also replaced faucets in the laundry room and did so quickly and efficiently. They were friendly but did not waste time. Their prices are very fair and they came when they said they would. We can't say enough good things about these guys. We will always call on them for our plumbing needs. Period. Absolutely.
Description of Work: M&M serviced our furnace and replaced two faucets.

It went well. They were professional and let us know the status of the repair. Because it is an old house they didn't have the part but they got the part the next day and finished the job.We will be calling them again soon for another repair.
