Brian came out to my house and was seeming very professional. He gave me the story of his company. He stated that he started out "working for doctors and lawyers in the main line," and said "so you know how demanding they are." He told me how his company is the best in the area, with the most powerful equipment and could really pack in the insulation and get signifigant results. He even spoke about getting the job done for my "health and safety." He went around discussing everything that needed to be done. He measured and took many notes. When he left he said that he had another job and would get back to me at the end of the day with the estimate. We called several times over the next week with ZERO response. I emailed him and also got ZERO response. To be honest I feel a little weird knowing someone walked in every room of my house and attic and has not even returned a phone call. Maybe since I do not live in the Main Line I don't get to receive the service of his so called top notch company.

The project went as planned except for it rained 3 of the 4 days of the project, which delayed the installation of the attic ventilation fan and bathroom vents in the roof because the roof was wet and dangerous to climb on. I was very impressed with Brian, the owner, and his crew lead Wes. They were very professional, kind and attentive. The only negative I have for their work was that they left most of my windows unlocked and left one window in the basement completely open. This was a very minor infraction. I would hire these guys again without a doubt. All in all, they came in and got the job done. I am very happy with the work, the price and the company overall. I can tell a big difference in the upstairs of my house, it is a lot cooler on these very hot summer days. Hoping to see savings on my utility bill too. I give them an overall rating of an A.

We just purchased our home and our home inspector noted that the attic had very little insulation, so we decided to insulate to save money and energy. We received three quotes for this job and SPS was the lowest price. During the estimate, we were impressed that Brian (I believe he is the owner) went into the attic for a long time to really understand what issues exist and how to fix them (as opposed to others- one didn't even look into the attic, and another peeked in briefly). Our only disappointment was that we did not receive our estimate quickly (we really wanted to make a decision), however when we did hire them, they were able to come out the next week which was very helpful- it's getting cold outside Three contractors came and completed the job in half a day (Brian was not one of them). They arrived on time and were very professional. When they completed the job, they asked whether we had any questions and cleaned up very thoroughly. Overall we were very pleased and will recommend SPS to our friends.
Description of Work: 950 sq foot attic 1) Air Sealing using Handi-foam 1 part foam seal around ceiling penetrations prior to blowing insulation 2) Fan Duct - Install 4" insulated duct on 2 bath fans and attach outlet by side wall exterior vent to prevent moist air from being vented into attic and to prevent insulation blockage of fan discharge. 3) R-38 Blanket - Insulate attic adding 10.9" (R-38) of Green Seal all borate stabilized cellulose insulation. (We had maybe 1 or 2 inches prior) 4) Foam Board Install 2" foam board on the attic side of the access panel

Asked Brian and co. to give us a quote for a variety of insulation and soundproofing projects on 2 floors of our house. Brian and a co-worker came out and were punctual and very thoughtful in helping us work through our problems. Then....nothing. No estimate by mail or e-mail. Didn't return several phone messages, including ones where we stated our initial positive impressions and desire to work with them if possible. Really strange and a seeming waste of our time.

We chose not to pursue this project due to cosmetic concerns inside the home. The nature of the project required a service (roofing foam) we do not provide.

I contacted this company approximately 4 years ago about possibly getting more insulation in my home. Back then I received a return call in a timely manner. The owner was very professional. We made an appointment. A few days prior to the appointment, I had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. I contacted them about two months ago. I filled out a request on their website. Within a day or two, I received an acknowledgment call from the office. I was told that the owner would contact me to schedule an appointment. I never heard from anyone. I can't rate anything but responsiveness because no one ever got back to me and professionalism because during the contact I did receive professionalism.

We worked with Brian Snedeker and he was extremely thorough and helpful. He explained a lot up front about the insulation process and about the specific challenges that our space presented. He explained the different types of insulation that would go into the kneewalls versus the sloped/ceiling areas. On the day of the job, workers arrived punctually and completed all the work within one day. The space where they worked was our master suite and they did an excellent job of both covering up and protecting the furniture, as well as cleaning up after they had finished the job. There was a little plaster dust left behind afterwards, but overall, it was very clean. Most of all, they completed everything as agreed and on time. It was a smooth process from start to finish and there was a noticeable improvement in our comfort level.
Description of Work: Cut a panel in ceiling for access, cover with mesh and close again with drywall and 2 coats of joint compound. 90.00 Insulate attic (flat section of ceiling) using 10.9" (R-38) of stabilized cellulose insulation. 305.00 Staple up mesh on rake roofline, fill with densepack cellulose insulation. 925.00 Wall spray brick rake gable walls to 3" with Applegate Cellulose Insulation. (4 sections). 290.00 Fill vaulted sections of roofline with densepack cellulose insulation. 409.00 Weatherization: Block off floor bays at kneewall base with fiberglass beneath both kneewalls. 150.00 (quoted from the company's original estimate dated 12/5/2008)

They were great. They were particularly very responsive. They came right out and gave me the quote and followed up. They were fine to work with. I didn't hire them. They did get back to me which a lot of contractors don't always do that. They got back to me very quickly. I would consider them in the future. As soon as I save some money I am going to get the work done.

I also got a number of proposals for the job and they seemed to be the most complete about what they were doing. They explained things very clearly and I thought that they really understood the job in totality the best. It seemed to be a fair price, but it could have been a little better. I would use them again if I needed to.

Workers arrived within the time space they had given me on all 3 days they needed to complete the work. The owner, Brian, is very thorough in his explanations and in his estimate. His price was not the cheapest, but I liked what he outlined for me better than the other contractors I called. I bid this out to 3 insulators from Angies List. Brian came the first day to coordinate the project and left it in the hands of his workers. The only complaint I have is that they did not always keep the dust barrier up completely on the third floor. This is a very dusty process so that's important, even though it is difficult to do when men are going up and down. They also left my front door wide open at times when it was not necessary. The job was gone over by the lead worker after all was done so that I could inspect the work. They forgot to show me the porch though and I did end up calling Brian, the owner, to ask about the patching that was done. Overall I believe they did a good job. It's impossible to tell until it gets really cold how well this will work. The workers were friendly enough as well.

They broke shelves in 3 closets but fixed 2 of them. There was 1 guy who had a little bit of an attitude. Excellent! Brian runs a family organization that's highly ethical and professional in their dealings. He was extremely knowledgeable about his business, including the technical side of insulation; answered more questions than I could think of in his free appraisal-estimate-recommendation and outlined for me several options without pushing any one of them. The actual job was quickly, cleanly by his brother and crew (on-time friendly, likeable guys who knew what they were doing and were there to work) after several hours of prep. work and blowing insulation in an attic on a fairly hot day, you barely knew they had been there when they left. The follow-up by Brian and his paperwork was complete, including a detailed separate receipt for tax deduction purposes (which I had forgot to request). I even received a nice, appreciated hand-signed Christmas card from the company several months later; a nice touch.
Description of Work: Blown-in attic insulation using R-30 of Cocoon Cellulose (by US Green Fiber) to bring my new house (2 yrs. old at the time) up to ideal insulation standards (anybody who's purchased a new home knows you get the minimum allowable by law; the rest is up to you).

Brian returned our call quickly and came over to give us an estimate. He explained the options for doing a complete and a partial job of insulating. The job was scheduled very quickly and the crew showed up right on time. They were very polite. They covered carpets and furniture and blocked off other rooms with plastic to maintain the dust. The work was done quickly. The crew worked straight through, finished in one day, and cleaned up very well.
Description of Work: A crew of three men removed existing insulation from the vault and the attic and replaced it with blown-in cellulose insulation. They bagged the old insulation and disposed of it. Insulating the vault required cutting an opening in the bedroom ceiling, which they patched with drywall and 2 coats of joint compound.
