Liked Jeremy. Very informative. His crew was very respectful. Came in on budget. A little slow getting the job completed, but we knew we were a "secondary" job. They were working on a bigger commercial property at the same time. They did a quality job. I would recommend them to friends and family.

Very professional and informative. We were flipping the house and didn't want to spend the amount of money it would have taken to completely redo the crawl space, it was expensive. We ended up doing it ourselves for much cheaper, but if I had a bigger job, I would definitely call this company.

Burke construction started when they said they would start, and worked straight thru until the end of the project. they were punctual, and often stayed late to complete a task. the work and detail that was put into the job was excellent - they followed the kitchen/design plan and made sure that everything was to our approval. if something wasnt quite right, they corrected it. and i am a picky person! I have to give a special kudos to the cabinet/woodworking/floor -do-it-all guy. His attention to details while installing the cabinets was awesome. most of the time the guys were in my home without us there- but they treated my home like it was theirs. everything was cleaned up at night (as much as could be expected) and they took care to try to minimize the dust. i was totally comfortable with allowing them access to my home. the finished product was even better than i could have expected - and i definately recommend Burke construction to anyone who needs a job done - big or small.

Description of Work: Crawl space encapsulation. Install dehumidifier and sump pump.
Burke Construction is the most professional team I have ever worked with. The owner, Jeremy Burke, kept in touch with me from the start to the end. Highly recommended. Has done other work in the past.
Description of Work: Ripped out old kitchen cabinets, sink, countertop and floor. Installed new cabinets, countertops, sink and tile floor. Tile back-splash. (WOW)!
We received a bid after a walk through of the project for the roof, siding and mud room and deck replacement. He did make a few comments that would improve the project during the walk through (replace the single panel basement windows with a insulated double panel windows, and spray foam the basement walls with Bayer spray insulation product). Should have listened and added the suggestions into the bid. They were able to tear out the original deck that was sinking due to not being on any supporting concrete piers but on bare ground with in a few hours. They guys were able to quickly pour 4 foot deep footings that the deck would rest on. The only delay was due to waiting for the concrete piers to cure before placing the support beams for the deck on them. The mud room was rough framed in and the support frame for the deck was installed quite quickly and then the detail work of installing the composite decking material proceed. The standard that Jeremy hold his guys to are high and it show in their work. The guys that did the roof also did the siding part of the job. The difficulty of the material that they were working with explained for the price of the job (The metal roof was 26 gauge and the siding was 29 gauge which required powered metal cutting tools). The roof was installed pretty quickly since it required less cutting and fitting of the material. While Keith Overmyer and his crew were up there they pin pointed out some problems that they observed but would not have any control over due to the need for interior access to the roof which we did not have (The bath room vent was venting through a hose out the soffits vent instead of the roof vent). The roof work went pretty quickly. They removed the original roof and tar paper that was originally installed 25 years ago. Instead of using tar paper a new type of Membrane barrier was used as well as ice and water shield on the edge areas of the roof to prevent ice or water from damming up under the new roof. The most difficult part of the roof install was when he had to cut into the chimney and insert the flashing material to maintain the water resistance of the roof, and the cap that was required to be placed around the electric utilities pipe that allowed for the electric power to enter the house from the PPE pole. Keith showed me how it was done and what might have to be done in the future to help maintain the roof. Keith and his guys even sealed the ends of the roof cap by bending the ends of the caps even thou it was not required. The roof caps has a filter mateial in it to keep insects and other foreign materials from entering the attic but this extra step would make it highly unlikely that this type of incident would happen. The work on the siding Keith Overmyer earned his pay. The amount of hand fitting that was required was very unexpected. Each corner required a corner cap as well as every window, door, electrical outlet and exterior light fixture required a custom "J" frame installed. This frame is to prevent water from infiltrating under the siding. Prior to even starting installing of the siding they placed a new type of flexible insulation that increased the R-Value by over a R-value of 5. Which is better than the old closed cell foam type which a 1 inch thick sheet has IIRC about a increase of less than a 3.5 R-value. The amount of time it took compared to using vinyl siding or T1 panels was about 3 to 4 times longer. They were not goofing off taking their time it was just more time consuming due to the measuring and cutting using powered cutting tools for each piece of siding that was installed as well as verifying that each piece was trued correctly. Jeremy guys did a great job with replacing the un-insulated single panel windows and sealing the new insulated double panel basement window and eliminate an area that we were having a draft entering the house. The original builder has installed and interior hollow core un-insulated door that connected our house to an unheated and un-insulated garage. Replacing that door with a exterior insulated door eliminated a cold spot and will also reduce in the long run our heating bill. These were additions to the original contract that was pointed out by Jeremy and I should have incorporated them at the time. The interior demo and ceiling was handled by Fred and his crew that did the deck and mud room part. They uncovered what appeared to be serious water damage to a roof support beam. We were looking at possible several thousand in additional expense. After letting the beam dry out and checking the beam for more damage they were able to determine that it was not necessary and would not be a risk factor. They were not looking to create extra work for them selves and un-necessary expense for the home owner. I was preparing to treat the cement block walls with muric acid to remove the salt that was leaching thru the block walls prior to treating sealing the walls with Dry-lock cement paint, when Jeremy and Matt Bauman came to check with me on how the project was going. Matt suggested that instead of using Dry-lock which was rated for 10 years but with the presence of the effervescence (salt leaching) the Dry-lock could peel off in short order and would have to be retreated after using muric acid to remove the salt first again. The Dry-Lock paint by its self ran over $375.00 not considering the time it would have taken to paint 2 coats on the wall. Instead Matt suggested the usage of closed cell Spray foam that not only prevent water infiltration thur the cement block walls but also provide an increased insulation value to the house. The real reason that I had not considered prior to having this done earlier was that several year earlier this was looked into and the cost at the time was extremely obscene at the time. The price I was quoted was quite reasonable and Matt helped fill out the paperwork with PP&E to receive a rebate that covered about a 1/4 of the cost of the spray foam insulation. In the long run the savings in decreased of heating cost as well as not needing to run a dehumidify to keep the humidity level low will offset the cost of the Spray foam treatment. The guys were there before lunch and were done by dinner time. The temp has remained pretty constant and the humidity level has remained low as well in the basement in the two months since it has been done. I only rated Burke construction a "B" for cost and it was because he was not the cheapest nor was he the most expensive bid that I received. He was in between, but you get what you pay for. The quality and the professionalism that he displayed in his work was money well spent. There was no surprise in his bid or sudden cost over-runs in this project. The firm seems like a small family owned business but is actually a well run and managed company capable that is handling large commercial projects in the East Stroudsburg area (I visited one of the commercial job site to see the quality of work that they were doing). I have a rear deck that we will have done later this year. We had removed the original rear deck due to it sinking and becoming unstable. We discovered that it was not supported by any concrete piers but resting on bare ground. Burke Constructions is the leading choice to complete this project for us,

Just getting ready to start the job 12/20/12. Been in contact with Matt on my project. He came out to give me an estimate and I felt his price was fair especially since the company is using commercial grade equipment. I chose Burke because they were the ONLY company who did not try to sell me more than what I needed. Every time I emailed Matt with questions(which I have a lot of), he responded in such a quick and professional manner. They are actually starting my job 1 week earlier than scheduled. Since I had just purchased the house I wasn't sure where I was going to come up with the money. Matt had told me we could work something out as far as payments. Show me another contractor who doesn't want their money right away??? In all seriousness, I had a hard time giving them my deposit. Never once did I feel pressured into anything. Will keep you up dated on the job(fingers crossed) The project is finished. Met the crew who did the encapsulation and insulation, 2 great guy to deal with. Answered all my questions. They tried to finish the job on a SNOWY Sat afternoon but they were told not to come by. They came over on Sunday to complete the job. Everything was done exactly as I was told. Matt had come by on Monday to look things over and answered any other questions I may have had. Also told me other ways to make my house more efficient (work they did not perform but could get me in touch with people who did) Very pleased with everything. Would do business with again in a heart beat.

The project lasted roughly a month during which time all exposed surfaces/area's were covered or items moved, all work performed, then put back in place exactly where everything belonged. The job was flawless from start to finish.
Description of Work: Total remodel of a lakefront cabin - wood siding, roof, hardwood floors and interior walls. The price, timing and quality of work were EXCEPTIONAL. I would recommend this company to anyone in the Pocono area looking for small or large jobs. They are the honest, ethical exception to the rule.
