*I PREFER PHONE CALLS over email because i don't check email much so please call if i miss your call leave a message and ill call you right back.thank you.* I worked out in the field from 2006 to now but. Spice it up handyman is my own business. i started it in 2009 but just like everyone i started out with schooling and working in this filed to get where I'm at today owning my own business. most the time its just me but i have a helper as needed. I prefer to charges an hourly rate with a travel fee.witch i notice saves people money and end's up being cheaper then a bid sometimes and they can keep adding things on to do because i'm so fast and good at what i do. but if you insist to have a bid because that's what you want or because its a big job i can do that for you and sorry no coupons or discounts at this time but over time after doing lots of work for you and getting to know you i will take care of you.in someway or another.

On November 30, 2018 I hired Brian Spicer of Spice it Up Handyman to seal a leak from my garage floor that was coming into the basement storage area of my home. This room is part of the living space in my game room area. He purchased and used a product with a very strong smell, advising us that like paint, the smell would go away in a few days. In a few days that smell was worse, had permeated the house and was causing us to cough. Brian knew that my Significant Other had recently undergone lung cancer treatments. I urged him to do something about the smell. And I asked him what the product was that he used. He told me that he had left the can in my storage area. Immediately upon reading the label, I recognized what was wrong. The product was a rubberized adhesive; and in big bold letters the label indicated it was for exterior use only. The label says that it causes skin irritation, respiratory irritation, drowsiness, dizziness. That it is flammable in both liquid and vapor form. If inhaled, to call the Poison Control Center. Which is what I did. They told me to rent an air purifier and that the material needed to be removed. I called the local fire department that said it needed to be removed. But Brian insisted that he could just come and cover it with plastic. I insisted that he call the manufacturer who told him it needed to be removed. Instead of removing it he covered it with a product called B-I-N. This product itself had a smell of its own. I contacted a remediation company who will remove both products, and redo the leak with a product that is safe for interior spaces. I also had them test the air quality to see that it was safe for us to even be in the house especially with my Significant Other’s health issues. I have asked Brian to contact his liability insurance company to reimburse me for the original cost of the product and his services for using the wrong product; for the cost of the air cleaner, for the cost of the air quality test and for the cost of removing all of the products and having the ceiling redone. To date, he had ignored my request.

Response from Spice It Up Handyman-I Do It All!
On 11-30-2018, a customer who I have provided services for for approximately four years without a single complaint, had asked me to seal rust spots in a storage space in her home. This space is considered unlivable as it is unheated, has unfinished, concrete floors, a metal unfinished ceiling and no windows. I advised her to replace the ceiling by a professional who specializes in metal and concrete ceilings. She replied that she had tried to sue or go after the company that installed the garage floor that is above the storage unit that I am referring to. Water is running from the garage floor, apparently, and seeping into the storage place. Thus, causing rust spots. Again, I advised her to have a metal / concrete specialist, but she said she couldn't reach them. She asked me to fix it. She begged me to fix it as she was desperate to stop the water from dripping on the floor. She wanted it done at a minimum cost. Due to large , wet rust spots, there was one product that would work for this damage , Henry's Tar. I explained that it may cause an odor and that it's used more for outdoor use. She said that she didn't care as long as the odor was gone. I spoke to a worker at Home Depot about the product who said if it's used in a no - livable space, it would be ok to use. After using it the customer the repeatedly texted and complaining of the smell. I went back to her home and offered free services to remove it if possible. I had a hard time removing it and asked what her main concern was. She answered, "the smell of the product " I said there is a primer that seals the odor and product completely, which is BIN Primer. BIN is used for restoration, and I called Henry's Roofing to ask if that would work , and he isn't allowed to say but persona, it should seal it. The customer was informed of all of the above, and she agreed to my services. I did that last part free of charge. The customer signed the invoice to start and complete the job proving that she agreed to the terms and conditions. I left the tar at her house so she could refer to the information on the label of the product. Next thing I know she is pursuing a complaint and I felt blindsided.

I hired Brian to replace a dryer vent, install a powder room sink and fix the wall behind it, fix a garage door track and trim around a garage door, fix a doorbell, and fix electrical outdoor outlets. He did a wonderful job on all. Very professional and polite - great price - nice clean work. Highly recommend! I will definitely use again!
I hired Brian to do multiple things. All were completed successfully. I would recommend him and hire him again.

We had leaking where an addition joined the house. We suspected loose flashing and so called Brian and signed him up. He came, checked it out, said he though it was more cracks in the bricks needing mortaring than the flashing. Was up there about an hour and a half. Used two tubes of mortar; he tries to keep supplies he knows he will need in his truck to avoid running to a store. Brian did an efficient great job. We have hired him before several times. He is prompt with replies, a quick efficient worker, and he is experienced. We would absolutely hire him again and recommend him fully.

Brian went to Home Depot and purchased a tarp for me and then went up on my roof during a rainstorm and made small repairs and then put a tarp down so I could leave for vacation without worrying. I called him when I got home from vacation and he came back and did work on the roof to caulk any holes and fix what he could find was wrong. I was very happy with his work!

Both times, it went extremely well. He came with high recommendations from our Occupational Therapist, and he was very competent and efficient in installing the shower hand rails. He also is a problem solver, and works with you to achieve the best solution. I also had him fix some other minor plumbing issues. He did this job a month ago. I have a very high sidewall to my house and I mentioned to him that I would like to install several motion-sensor activated flood lights on it sometime. He said that he would contact me when he had some time to do the job. He contacted me last week to do it, and it was a challenging job that needed some ingenuity, which benefited from his problem solving approach. He also did some other minor electrical work for me. The motion sensor settings needed to be adjusted, so he came back a couple of days later to fix this. I like the fact that he works with you and is very accommodating to one's wishes.
Description of Work: I had Brian do 2 jobs recently. I needed handrails for the bathroom to be added to aid my mother-in-law. Her Occupational Therapist recommended Brian for the job, and he was excellent. This was a month ago. few days ago I needed external flood lights with motion sensors to be installed high on my house's exterior. again Brian did an excellent job. I also asked him to fix some minor plumbing and electrical issues, which he did.

Brian did a fantastic job replacing over 8 electrical outlets throughout our home. He also filled in holes left from a radiator that was removed. He also retrofitted two outlets on our hearth that was not easy and required a bit of out of the box thinking. Everything looks great and he did in just a couple of hours.
Description of Work: multiple electrical outlet replacements and hole filling in floor from removed radiator
Everything went well. The job required skilled electrical plus carpentry expertice with the installation of a basement ceiling. The 8 cannister lights make the room so much brighter. The painting, plus installing floor board was done quickly and neatly. Brian does it all effortlessly and efficiently. He also painted the hallway, plus all the trim and calked all around the family room, making everything look fresher and newer. The

He responded to my problem quickly and was able to be at my house to assess the damage right away. He was willing to work around my busy work schedule and be in frequent contact with me through every step. When he was at my house he noticed the larger issue, and was able to determine where the water was coming into the wall, and take steps to stop it. He was also able to fix the siding on my house easily. going the extra mile to make sure that my issues were solved. He was very professional and very easy to work with. I would defiantly hire him again to do work around my house.
Description of Work: I called him with an issue of water damage on a wall in my house to get the wall repaired, and to fix some falling siding on my house.
