Brian was very professional and willing to work with my schedule. He finished the job quickly and knew exactly how to install the shutters on the brick. The end product looked beautiful. The price of his service was very reasonable and I will definitely hire him again if I ever need anything done around my house.

Perfectly. Brian was a true professional. He did a great job switching around some cabinets, making sure everything fit with an eye on the best way to hang them, finding the wall studs., etc.. He does everything and he takes a lot of pride out of a job well done. He spent over 3 hrs. with that project, which was not an easy one. The final cost for his time was very reasonable.

Brian can work " outside of the box" and problem solve due to vast experience of many kinds and an advanced understanding of how things work and how things are assembled. He can repair just about anything. If the job is too much for one man, he will tell you. He will give you his cost up front. I have had handymen who stand around drinking water or smoking a cigarette. Brian didn't take one break, not even for lunch but worked straight through 6.5 hours and the majority of it outside in the heat and sun. You get what you pay for and there is NO good, experienced, knowledgable handyman who is cheap. Add honest to the list of adjectives about Brian - did you read what I wrote about the leaking faucets ? I was impressed and beyond pleased with his work and am already starting a new " Honey Do " list for him. Other handymen would not like to be compared and I won't be hiring others now that I know Brian. No I am not a family member or friend. Never met him until he showed up to work.
Description of Work: Assembled 6 items, including a couple of things with no instructions and a couple of things with worthless instructions printed in China. He figured it out and without needed parts in a few cases got the job done very well. Used a chainsaw to take care of downed trees. Replaced a medallion over a ceiling fan. Gave advice about two fixtures that were leaking and instead of wasting my time and money, told me that it is best to replace them. Many others would have no problem messing around with them, charging you for the time then telling you what you should have been told from the start.

Mr. Spicer arrived on time as promised, worked at a steady pace all day, and did what he said he was going to do. Mr. Spicer was able to think through unusual situations related to the wiring in the kitchen, consulted with another professional when he had questions, and completed the work professionally and safely. Removing the existing exterior door and sealing the space was not something Mr. Spicer was sure he could do but he studied the problem and worked out a way to get the job done that left the house secure and weather tight. Mr. Spicer was professional and knowledgeable in all aspects of the job. He was able to explain everything he was going to do and was very flexible when he needed to be. He was very friendly too :-). I would recommend Mr. Spicer to anyone who needs work done fast and well. His charges were more than fair and extremely reasonable. I'm looking around my house for more jobs for him to do
Description of Work: removed bulk head above kitchen cabinets, reframed and dry walled upper walls and ceiling, plastered new upper walls and ceiling and feathered to existing walls and ceiling, rerouted electrical to accommodate new ceiling height, moved electrical outlets, demoed interior wall, removed existing exterior door, closed exterior wall in weather tight fashion, rebuilt interior wall over old door space, dry walled, plastered, and feathered this new wall, removed all debris.

Brian did several handyman jobs for me and I am 100% satisfied with his work. You can tell that he takes pride in his work and that he strives to make sure the customer is satisfied. His price was very reasonable. It is hard to find a top-notch handyman with reasonable prices but I have found one in Brian. He can do it all. I am going to use him again to put flooring down in my basement. I would recommend him without qualification. If you are looking for someone to do the small or large handyman jobs, look no further than Brian.

Brian was very professional. He showed up on time and took extreme pride in making sure he did the job correctly. When he ran into any type of obstacle he consulted with me personally on how he was going to proceed to make sure I was in agreement. He also took the initiative to call the manufacturer of the lights he was installing and the shower door he was installing to check with them about questions he had to resolve obstacles that arose so that when he gave me my options he was fully educated on his decision. He was very easy to work with and I trusted in his ability to perform the job and suggestions he had. He even came up an insulation idea for my noisy furnace closet taking into consideration of how to save me money.

Brian did an excellent job of helping us out with some things that needed fixed in our home. He is very professional, personable and efficient. The first thing he did was replace a ceiling fan in our bedroom that my husband and I bought at Home Depot. He did a beautiful job! In addition to this, I mentioned to Brian that a spindle came off our headboard that we purchased at Roomful Express and we asked him if he could fix it. To our amazement, he unscrewed the spindle and was able to determine that the old fan he just took out of our bedroom had some screws that could be used to fix the spindle. Thanks to Brian everything looks brand new again. Last but not least, we have an 85 lb lab that we want to keep off our new living room set (he likes to get up on the couch) and we had Brian put up a sturdy dog gate to our family room. Today when my husband and I were out for a couple hours and came home we were delighted to see that the gate kept the dog in the family room and off our new furniture in the living room. I can't say enough good things about this contractor. We plan on using him again for other jobs around our house.

I believe Brian would be great for a small, straightforward (handyman) job but unfortunately, we would not hire him for a large job again. I like the fact that Brian will bring to your attention other items that might need to be replaced upon discovering them. I didn't like the fact that he made his own decision about using certain piping in the bathroom instead of consulting us and asking us what we wanted. He told us after it was all said and done and that he had made a decision to use the product and he would text us a picture which he did not do. Our main project was remodeling a bathroom in a townhouse that we own. We picked out tile with a detail strip and bullnose trim tile. I asked Brian twice if he was experienced with detail tile work and if he felt comfortable with the work and he indicated that he was and text me a picture of a shower that he did. Upon viewing his work one night, we noticed that the bullnose trim had come loose and the grout line was not correct. I text Brian a picture and he called and indicated it must be an illusion. It wasn't which he saw the next day. In the context of Brian fixing the issue, he text me that he hasn't performed detailed tile work for 7 years. He also text me a rant about visiting a pizza place (to which he later apologized for) and their tile work wasn't perfect and you can always find something (?) We truly feel Brian misrepresented himself regarding detailed tile work. At that point, my fiance and I talked and agreed to let him finish the project (since my fiance was traveling) and my niece needed to have use of the bathroom and we would fix and/or hire someone to fix what we didn't like. t the end of the project, I asked for a copy of the the supply receipt for my records and Brian first indicated that he gave them to his accountant already (I asked for them the same day the project ended). When I asked him to obtain a copy for me - he actually text "if you are going to be like that, I guess I will have to bother my accountant for them". As the client, I feel I am entitled to a copy of the supply receipt, especially since it was over $500.00. The next morning, Brian text me that he didn't send them to his accountant and the he had them to give to me (?). Finally, Brian left a stack of cardboard in the bedroom from the project and a bag of garbage in the entry way upon leaving. Brian charges $65.00 an hour and a $30.00 trip charge each day which was higher than the other contractors we interviewed and after dealing with his personality, I don't feel that the extra cost was worth the price especially since he was dishonest about performing detailed tile work. Again, if you just had a vanity to install, he would probably do a good job but again, I personally would be concerned about a major project that could have issues because in my opinion, he doesn't handle "issues" (tile falling off) or conflict (asking for a copy of the receipts) professionally.

Response from Spice It Up Handyman-I Do It All!
I have done many large jobs for years with customer satisfaction. I also have done detailed tile work recently before her job. In reference to the plumbing, I did text her and sent a picture of the old plumbing and said that it all needed to be replaced. I found multiple leak points. She asked me to replace the water mixer. She then said in text to do what it takes to fix it. I made many attempts to call and have her come over to meet with her. She replied, I can text but to busy to talk or meet with me. One of the spacer T's fell out and one tile moved. This can happen, so I fixed it that morning in no time at all. [Removed Member Name] came every night after I left to check everything out. She then text me that she thought everything looked good. She was happy with everything with the job, with me, and how long it took. So when I was done she said, email me the bill. That was when I felt she changed and seemed dissatisfied. Due to not realizing material cost for her project, she questioned my honesty and ability to do the job. I then supplied her with full proof of all the reciepts. As for garbage, I put most of it outside for her garbage day. There were a few cardboard boxes that were left on the last day of my job. I text her that there was no room in her one car garage that had a car in it. I text her should I leave it in the bedroom and she said she would take care of it. Upon meeting her, I gave her a time frame for her job. She said how happy she was that I could get her in so soon because other contractors couldn't. [Removed Member Name] also liked my reviews on Angie's List. In summary I would prefer to talk to my customers on the phone which I tried. I provide a paper with my fees. I'm an honest person who enjoys what I do and wouldn't jeopardize my reputation which is reflected in my reviews.

Brian was efficient and worked quickly. He replaced 7 three pronged electrical outlets (that were two pronged), replaced two spotlights above the garage, replaced a hose on my new washing machine since the one I bought was too short, and installed a new light fixture above the kitchen sink. He was a pleasure to get to know and did my list of jobs in a timely manner and correctly. Would highly recommend Spice it up Handyman services.

Brian is just an all around good person and takes prides in his work. He's competent, trustworthy, and reliable. He's strives to impress his customers with his attention to detail and craftsmanship. Brian's done several jobs for me but this was the largest. He installed hardwood floor in our dining room. His estimate was 1 1/2 days and it was exactly that. He did a better job than the local flooring place that installed the flooring in the kitchen and hallway. While I do think Brian's rate is expensive, you get what you pay for and that's a well done job every time. The other great thing about Brian is that he has every tool, accessory, nail etc. to do the job. No running to the store to get anything. That will save you time and money. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Brian for any job, small or large.
