I have to give great points to this service center. This was an autobody repair done so well that a 2008 car was repaired to 'new' condition. Damage was to our street-parked car that was backed into from a car from a neighboring driveway resulting in a 'T boned' car driver's side. The twist, of sorts, was that a young teenage boy brought the damaged car into Walks to get the repair estimate (teen was driver responsible when accident occurred). He was treated professionally. We chose to do the repairs work at Walk's since they had successfully completed in a timely, professional manner a much smaller bodywork repair to my other vehicle (basketball to engine hood of pickup. Teenagers!). My 'fair' score on the price reflects that with computerized repair estimates that multiple estimates (as we did) are virtually equal. So Fair is current compensation.

Thank you for the kind words! You are absolutely right regarding the price. Our parts and labor charges for auto body and collision repair have to be consistent as we are under agreements with insurance companies that we are not charging anyone else any less than they are paying. Again, we appreciate your sharing of your positive experience.

I have used Walks for many years but stopped because a week after they passed my car for inspection my right front brake shoe broke in half and when I took it back they told me my brakes were in bad shape and needed replaced. Really? Then why did it pass inspection a week ago?

Specific conditions, especially regarding items such as brake lining that are subject to, even designed to wear, will change on a daily basis. A "broken" condition that did not exist at time of inspection certainly cannot be anticipated and is by no means a reason to fail safety inspection.

Imagine my surprise when I was given a $3900 estimate for repairs that included head gaskets, axels, cv joints, timing belt, water pump... The car's blue book value is only $8000 so I decided I needed a second opinion on the repairs to see if they were even worth pursuing. Second and third opinions (both from reputable sources) came up with the same diagnosis and list of issues, but suggested a more reasonable set of repairs on several of the larger ticket items (as opposed to replaced with lower quality after-market parts) and an overall bill of $2000. Walk's never even suggested this as an option, despite my obvious sticker shock.
Description of Work: I took my 2006, 85,000 mile Subaru in for a small oil leak. Walk's got me an appointment the day after I called and kept my car for the day to diagnose the problem.

I am very sorry for the shock you experienced; the bearer of bad news is rarely a hero. But our repair order and estimating system allows us to use parts pricing from 4 different local parts sources and, from these sources, different levels of (I don't want to say quality) serviceability. If you were not offered these options, I humbly apologize. We searched out an estimating system with these features so that we could offer these options. Our initial estimate, (unless my customer specifies otherwise,) always includes mid-grade parts or the first available part if there is an out of stock situation. We are always glad to discuss repair options. However, without getting into specifics, there are some parts suppliers who's product I don't consider "serviceable" and even some lesser "serviceable" parts from our regular suppliers that I will not offer as an option as I must ultimately stand behind the repair. If you feel you were treated unfairly, again I humbly apologize; it is our goal to reach an agreeable and affordable plan to keep your vehicle performing the way you need it to.

I will write about one experience (out of many) that I have had with Walk's. I have had them service my (three different) vehicles over the years: one compact Nissan, one full-size Ford Taurus, and now a Scion xB. In this particular situation, I had my car in for some cosmetic repairs after being backed into in a parking lot. The and quot;costand quot; listed is that which I would have paid - since I was not at fault, the other driver's insurance did cover this cost entirely. I give an and quot;Aand quot; on price, NOT knowing what is a comparable payment for such services, because Ernie really went to bat for me when the insurance company resisted paying for repair of an existing scratch that happened to be insulted further by the recent accidental damage. I suppose he argued in some way that one really can't fix one scratch/dent on top of another scratch without fixing the one on the bottom. In addition - clearly I wasn't interested in having this scratch fixed, anyway, since it had been there for years and I frankly didn't care. I did not end up having to pay for that incidental fix, and I'm grateful for that.
Description of Work: Though some of this terminology makes no sense to ME, I'll include it anyway because it may make sense to someone else: FENDER repl LT fender add for clear coat add for edging add for clear coat FRONT DOOR blnd LT outer panel (hss) R&I LT R&I mirror R&I LT belt molding R&I LT handle, outside R&I LT R&I trim panel HOOD blnd hood (hss) Front Lamps R&I LT headlamp assy NIBB & BUFF TOUCH UP BOLTS HAZ. WASTE REMOVAL COVER CAR WASH AND VACCUUM For anyone else (like myself) to whom that means little, basically: my left fender/hood was scratched and dented and the fender was replaced, hardware remounted, car paint was color matched. It looked great when it was done.

Thanks (deleted member name). Body repair estimates and invoices are impossible to understand unless you are fluent in "Insurance-ese". Hopefully, our estimators explained everything to your satisfaction in terms we can all understand. Thank you for your loyalty and thanks for a great review!
