Brewer Services

Hello. I live in State College, PA and share a house with my mother. The service we received from this company started out alright in the beginning; their prices weren't unreasonable and they would show up to mow the lawn regularly enough. As time went on, however, they started charging for things they had never charged for previously without informing us ahead of time, such as trimming the walkway. When we would attempt to get estimates for certain additional services via email, we rarely if ever received any response from the owner, Scott Brewer. Once, when I asked Scott in person if he would provide an estimate for these additional services, he said he would mail them to us as soon as possible, yet it never happened. Last winter, we also hired them for snow removal. The trouble is, they would show up to remove a half inch of snow, but would not show up to remove several inches or more. Often they would show up late in the day to remove the heavier snowfall or they wouldn't show up at all. This past summer, after letting them go in order to hire a different lawn care service, we received a bill in the amount of $369.00 plus 6% sales tax, for a total of $391.14--for HEDGE TRIMMING! And by hedge trimming I mean the three regular-sized bushes in our front yard. Now who in their right mind charges that insane amount of money for a lousy hedge trim??! And I do mean lousy. And what's more, who would authorize such a thing if they were told that's what it would cost???! No one would. Never did we authorize a hedge trim for $391.00. It is fraud, plain and simple. I would never recommend Brewer Services to anyone. And I would report them to the Better Business Bureau in a heartbeat if they were an accredited business with the BBB, which of course they are not. I would recommend him. Mr. Scott Brewer limits himself to cutting down the trees, cleaning the gutters and the downspouts. He also does patio and deck cleaning and restoration. I have my gutters cleaned by him twice a year because of the kind of trees that I have. He is wonderful. He is very responsive and gets back to you very quickly. If he does not answer the phone, then you could leave a message and he will call you back by the end of the day no matter what. He is very reasonable with his rates and does a very professional job. He goes out of his way and does a marvellous job. I think a world of Mr. Scott as he is great. I will be using him again before The Thanksgiving to get the rest of the leaves cleaned up.
