We used Wally last year to replace our windows, and we were so happy with the job he did that we had him replace our doors as well. We have an older home with 2 front doors. Both front doors were custom sizes, and Wally got the measurements right and performed a clean install. The side door was installed very clean as well. The screen door had to be take off and slightly modified to ensure a clean fit, and the screen door looks and operates like it was new. We had a minor issue with the lock set on one of the doors a month after the install (the lock set that I bought!) and Wally came back the next day to take a look at it and make the necessary repair, free of charge. We have been so happy with Wally's work that we are planning on using him for a number of future renovation projects.
Description of Work: Installed 2 front doors and 1 side door.

Wally did work for my mother about 2 years ago. We are a repeat customers. His work is impeccable. The back doors look beautiful and close perfectly. The trim is seamless . He is a true master carpenter who stands by his work. My mom could not be happier with the job that Wally did.

We solicited several estimates and all were in the same range. We found Manfredia through this site with consistently positive reviews. We chose them primarily because Wally was detail oriented in providing the estimate and very receptive in answering our questions during that process, and we were confident in the quality of work we'd receive. Our expectation based on discussions was that Wally would be onsite most/all of the time to drive and supervise the work being performed. The pro's - The finished product is good in general. We receive compliments on the overall appearance. - We're very pleased with the woodwork and trim. All framing and construction of the bar were handled almost entirely by one of Wally's people and were excellent. - Everyone on Wally's team were polite and professional. Wally himself was personable and receptive to feedback at the end of the project. The con's - The project was completed significantly later than promised. Wally estimated it to take 2 months but took 4, after starting 2-3 months later than expected. Overall it finished 9 months after signing the contract, which caused it to overlap with us having a baby despite Wally's assurances on several occasions that the project would be done prior to the baby being born. - On all but a handful of days days there were 1-2 workers onsite for a few hours despite the timing issue described above, with a rotation based on specific tasks, and at times when different workers came out there didn't seem to be a full understanding of details of the work to do. Wally was onsite at most a couple hours per week and did not seem attentive despite the size of the project. He was responsive in spurts when we contacted him and voiced concerns over the timeline and quality of certain work (i.e., sent out a larger team for a day and/or came out to do a few hours of work himself). Work was redone when we pointed out issues we saw but otherwise there did not appear to be any substantive quality assurance. We actively followed up on permits ourselves to try and reduce delays. - The contract indicated the company's in-house electrician and plumber would do that work but it was subcontracted. The plumbing was satisfactory, but the electricians showed up several times without a clear understanding of the work to do. For example, we had baseboard heaters as part of our project plan, and it was discovered at the end of the project that the wiring was not done to install the heaters. The electricians had no knowledge of installing heaters. Holes had to be cut in the walls and ceiling, then the wrong type of heaters were installed and had to be replaced. Light switches were installed without dimmers and had to be replaced. Lights above the bar were wired to the wrong spot and holes had to be cut to move. - The drywall/spackle work is mediocre. Finishing of certain soffets and corners are not right angles. There are visible cracks continuing to form, screws, lumps, ripples, corner tape, etc. In terms of the overall finished product, with improvement in the drywall work, we would've been satisfied with the quality of work. However, we would not choose Manfredia again for this job or to do others, primarily due to the approach to managing the project. We expected greater attention and felt we had to take responsibility for various activities that we expected the general contractor to do. The timeline did not fit the expectations we were given and we repeatedly stressed as critical. We communicated these thoughts to Wally at the end of the project and he was receptive to the feedback.
Description of Work: We finished our basement from the base concrete foundation. It included all framing to have one large living space, a smaller space for an exercise room, construction of a custom wet bar and installation of plumbing, and electrical wiring. We had flooring installed separately and completed painting ourselves.

Wally (owner) provided the estimate and he did the work along with his team. I met them at our house at the scheduled time, they quickly attacked the job with a clear plan. I left the house and was contacted approximately 3 hrs later stating the job has been done. I arrived at the house to see everything was cleaned and the job was completed as expected. I was so happy with job I asked Wally for an estimate for another job.

We have used Wally in the past and were very happy with his work. Wally had built us a very large deck about a year ago and it was now time to have the wood stained. I asked Wally for and estimate and was surprised at how reasonable his pricing was. Wally and his crew completed the job over a weekend. They kept the place clean and neat and did a great job with all the fine details that the job required.

Wally came out to take a look at some window replacement work we were getting estimates for. He was on time, conscientious about wearing foot covers in the house, and convinced us that he knew what he was talking about. When we received the estimate, it was very detailed, but unfortunately higher than our budget for this particular project. (Note that it was on par with a few others that we received). With that said, I would not hesitate to have Wally come out and estimate future projects for us or recommend that friends/family do the same.

The company was very prompt in returning our phone call (despite big storms) and setting up a date to come provide an estimate. Mr. Manfredia arrived promptly and immediately put on plastic booties upon entering our home. He spent about 15minutes discussing our project and provided us some good ideas about things we had not considered. Our estimate arrived in a timely fashion and we found it to be right on par with the other estimates we had received. We did decide to go with another contractor, however, Wally and company were second on our list. I would absolutely bring him out for another estimate based on his professionalism.

This is the second time we used Wally Manfredia. We had a fair amount of termite damage in the garage of a house we are selling and the work needed to be done as soon as possible. Despite his busy schedule, Wally prioritized our job and got the work done very quickly. He also inspected the property for any additional termite destruction and left the area clean when he and his crew were finished. As usual, he did a fantastic and thorough job at a more than reasonable price. We will always use his services in the future. He and his team are dependable, honest, professional and they provide top quality work at a fair price.

Wally and his team are the exact people you want doing work in your home - they care about what they're doing, their work is top quality, and they are professionals in your home - always courteous and cleaning up after themselves. The job took about 10 weeks to complete and consisted of finishing a 1,000 square feet area - dividing up spaces into unique rooms, sheet rocking walls, painting, floor installation and constructing an egress as required by the township. Wally's price was reasonable, and the quality we received for the job far exceeded our expectations. With the finishing touches just being completed, we have this terrific new space just in time for the holidays, and we have Wally and his skilled team to thank. Their work is fantastic, and we are overjoyed with the results. Thank you, Wally! We look forward to working with you again in the future.

Wally and his crew were the best. They removed paneling, old framing, and a large, old air conditioner from my mom's living room wall. They insulated the walls, put new dry wall up and made and installed a custom window sill for the bay window. They framed everything inside the window area and around the wall. They put stucco on the outside wall where the air conditioner was that matched the finish perfectly. I have hired contractors over the past 30 years and I must say that Wally and his crew are the most meticulous I have seen. The detail work with the window was perfect. There were small grooves that needed small cuts (about 6 of them) around the window - perfect. The edging and framing - perfect. I would absolutely hire them again. It took about one week for us to get the estimate. I got 3 estimates from 3 different contractors and they all took about the same time to get back to me. Wally's was the middle price. There is nothing worse than to hire people to do work in your house only to find out that it's "almost" straight, "almost" level, "almost" right! You are going to have to live with your choices for a long time. It's so nice when it's done right! Mom mom loves it!

We wanted a deck with a ramp incorporated into it for my aging father to have easier access into our home. After interviewing several contractors I found Wally. Wally is the hands on owner and Master Carpenter for Manfredia Carpentry & General Contracting. After talking with Wally he had allot of great ideas of how we should do our project. We wanted to have the deck look like it was part of the original design of our contemporary home which was not going to be an easy task and also not have the ramp look out of place. Wally hit it out of the park and understood the architectural challenge. We came up with a wooden deck and stainless steel wire system that looks great. Wally suggested this type due to the fact that we have a large wooded lot with great views this type of railing systems would not obstruct our views. So we moved forward with his suggestion. We also decided to replace the original railing around the house to match. Originally our plan was just a deck and ramp but we ended up doing much more due to the comfort level we had with Wally and his crew. In addition to the deck and railing project we had steps redesigned and replaced and a new free flow gutter system replaced around the entire house. Wally and his crew were meticulous with the details of the project. They keep the area under construction clean everyday and when they left. Wally and crew communicated with me every step of the way. Wally was easy to work with and we will most likely will use him again for other projects around our home. He is computer friendly and we both keep up with changes via email when necessary. I would highly recommend Manfredia Carpentry and General Contracting. They exceeded my expectations and both Wally ,his crew, and office staff were a joy to work with.
Description of Work: Built, stained and incorporated new deck, ramp and railing system to home. I had to call twice to get a hold of them, they claimed something was wrong with their message service. He came out on the day he specified and took a look at some drywall that needed repair in an upstairs bathroom. We also asked him for a quote on a doing wainscoting in our stairwell. He took down my email address and said his wife would be in touch with the estimate. Here we are almost a week later and I've still heard nothing. I've called and left messages and I've not received a call back or response. I find this to be very unprofessional. I wanted this repaired before we got close to the Thanksgiving Holidays. It seems to me if they wanted our business they would not ignore our phone calls or wait a week to follow up.

They arrived on time for the appointment, were extremely thorough evaluating our needs and submitted a very detailed written proposal in a very timely fashion. However, the quote was beyond our budget for redoing our first floor bathroom so we went with another contractor.

Wally was notified over July 4th weekend 2012. He went directly to our house and proceeded to spend close to 8 hours moving furniture, removing carpeting and wet wood trim and drywall, vacuuming water placing fans in the area to assist with drying and mold reduction. He was instrumental in helping us explain the problems to our insurance agent, who he took time to meet with when the agent came to the house. While the basement was completely open, we had the opportunity to re-think the design, adding the trench and a design for a bar. Wally prepared a detailed estimate for the repairs to the basement (replacing what had been there with the same type of trim and carpeting) as well as working closely with us for the design and construction of the bar area (which was over and above the basement repairs). Wally was punctual, professional, and precise with his execution of the needed repairs and the building of our new bar.
Description of Work: Removed carpet, carpet padding, wood trim and dry wall from wet basement after hot water heater leaked. Repaired basement in exactly the same way it had been previously with the exception of digging a drainage trench around the perimeter of the basement directed to the existing sumo pump and adding a wet bar.

The project took longer than expected, but the final product was excellent. Wally will not stop until the project is complete, even down to the last detail. In addition to simply installing cabinets, Wally's team framed out the entire kitchen, built a custom knee wall with moulding, corbels, etc, and made sure all details were craftsman like. They successfully blended a modern hardwood floor with an original hardwood floor. They performed layer after layer of compound on the ceilings in order to level them and ensure they aligned to existing plaster ceilings. The sub-contracted electricians made some mistakes and caused some delays - Wally took full accountability and made sure it was fixed correctly and quickly. This saved us much headache from having to deal with the electricians on this issue. A full kitchen remodel is a huge project that takes a long time and is virtually guaranteed to have delays and bumps in the road. This was our first major remodel project and my only regret is that I had unrealistic expectations of when it would be complete. Wally's work is top quality and the finished product is magazine worthy.
Description of Work: Wally and Team did a full gutting and remodeling of our original 1940's era kitchen, complete with knotty pine walls, 5 layers of linoleum floors, and other disasters. The new kitchen included an entirely new layout, knocking down a wall, installing some headers, building a custom knee wall and mud-room, and more.

Overall this was a very positive experience. Years ago I had windows replaced throughout my house by another company. That experience was not good at all. Because windows aren't cheap I have ended up dealing with the lousy install for quite a while. However, I needed to replace a kitchen window so I went to Angie's List to find someone for the job. I made several calls only to find that nobody would come out for just one window. Then I called Manfredia and they were happy to do so. Once there for the estimate I decided to replace a basement window which was the lone original left in the house. The owner, Wally, is as professional as they come. He provided me with a written proposal with specifics related to the job. Once a contract was signed, my windows were ordered and installed within 10 days. The actual install couldn't have been better. The windows look great! I was so happy with the work that I decided to go ahead and replace most of the windows that were installed so poorly years ago. I can't recommend Wally and his company enough. They do much more than just windows and I would certainly call them for any contracting needs I may have in the future.

Wally was very pleasant to work with and was pretty quick to respond but usually by email so if you were not near a computer it took a couple days to correspond. He knew I was under a time crunch for the first part of my project and he worked hard to meet the deadline for me. His people were very polite. He was not the least expensive quote I got but he seem to know what he was doing and was very professional and if someone is cutting into your roof supports you need them to know what they are doing. Overall I am very happy with the work he did and I will use him again for future projects when they arise. Everything went quickly and looks great. His team cleaned up every night and made the room completely useable. I only have two disappointments (but this is being very picky) : first he uses a sponging method for the drywall. This did not always leave a smooth surface as bubbles and such were visible which required us to go back and sand. Also there was some sinking (for lack of a better word) around the new edges so the surface it not flush. His helper that finished off the work left his hand print in the drywall mud accidentally do I think of him every time I see it lol. I did not have Wally back out as we had painted everything once we really noticed it and repairing it would cause us to have to go back and repaint which I just don't want to do at this time; second I was quoted adding a new light switch for the chandelier but they were able to use the one from the fan. Not a big deal and I still love my room : )

We have a number of project we are looking to have done in our home, and we decided to move forward with the window project with Wally, because we knew that if we were happy with his work on this project we could use him for the other projects we are looking to do (finish our attic, kitchen remodel, side pent roof replacement, etc). From the start, my wife and I had a very good comfort level with Wally. He was always very professional, and we trusted that he would do the job at a very high level. In the end, I can confirm that our instincts were on point, as we are thrilled with how our windows look. We are getting estimates to have the outside of our house painted, and all of the estimators have commented on how great of a job was done with the window capping. Full disclosure: There was an issue with the window supplier, where the wrong window was ordered (2 left casements instead of a left and right). I immediately recieved a call from the supplier, who took repsonsibility for the mistake and apologized to me directly. This did push back our project a few days, however I can't speak enought to how well it was handled by Wally. These types of things are going to happen form time to time, and in my opinion it is how they are handled by the contractor that differntiate the good from the bad. Since our window projects completion was delayed due to the window mishap, Wally made things right by providing us with an enhancement to our next project for no additional cost. We are having him tear down our old pent roof and build us a new one, as it was pulling away from the house. He is now going to install an LED light light on the underside of the roof at no cost to us. This will entail not only installing the light to the roof, but also running the elctrical sine there is no light currently in the existing roof. Wally did a great job, and has won our business on future projects. I will be sure to provide updates on the next projects as well.
Description of Work: Installed new windows throughout the entire home, including the attic and basement. Additionally, capping was installed around all windows.
