Description of Work: After Wally Manfredia came out to provide an estimate I was never contacted again with the estimate as promised. I sent a note back to him and received no response. If he didn't want to do the job he should have just told me. Very disappointed because I know he does good work. I hate to grade him an "F", but that's what this instance deserves.

Wally was very pleasant to work with and was pretty quick to respond but usually by email so if you were not near a computer it took a couple days to correspond. He knew I was under a time crunch for the first part of my project and he worked hard to meet the deadline for me. His people were very polite. He was not the least expensive quote I got but he seem to know what he was doing and was very professional and if someone is cutting into your roof supports you need them to know what they are doing. Overall I am very happy with the work he did and I will use him again for future projects when they arise. Everything went quickly and looks great. His team cleaned up every night and made the room completely useable. I only have two disappointments (but this is being very picky) : first he uses a sponging method for the drywall. This did not always leave a smooth surface as bubbles and such were visible which required us to go back and sand. Also there was some sinking (for lack of a better word) around the new edges so the surface it not flush. His helper that finished off the work left his hand print in the drywall mud accidentally do I think of him every time I see it lol. I did not have Wally back out as we had painted everything once we really noticed it and repairing it would cause us to have to go back and repaint which I just don't want to do at this time; second I was quoted adding a new light switch for the chandelier but they were able to use the one from the fan. Not a big deal and I still love my room : )

Manfredia's built us a beautiful deck with a cable rail system. Wally is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He knows what will look good but is also open to homeowner suggestions. His team is talented and respectful of homeowner's property. There were unforeseen issues with the house, that we discovered upon removal of the old deck. Wally, and his team, handled those as well.

remodeling, replacement windows

We have a number of project we are looking to have done in our home, and we decided to move forward with the window project with Wally, because we knew that if we were happy with his work on this project we could use him for the other projects we are looking to do (finish our attic, kitchen remodel, side pent roof replacement, etc). From the start, my wife and I had a very good comfort level with Wally. He was always very professional, and we trusted that he would do the job at a very high level. In the end, I can confirm that our instincts were on point, as we are thrilled with how our windows look. We are getting estimates to have the outside of our house painted, and all of the estimators have commented on how great of a job was done with the window capping. Full disclosure: There was an issue with the window supplier, where the wrong window was ordered (2 left casements instead of a left and right). I immediately recieved a call from the supplier, who took repsonsibility for the mistake and apologized to me directly. This did push back our project a few days, however I can't speak enought to how well it was handled by Wally. These types of things are going to happen form time to time, and in my opinion it is how they are handled by the contractor that differntiate the good from the bad. Since our window projects completion was delayed due to the window mishap, Wally made things right by providing us with an enhancement to our next project for no additional cost. We are having him tear down our old pent roof and build us a new one, as it was pulling away from the house. He is now going to install an LED light light on the underside of the roof at no cost to us. This will entail not only installing the light to the roof, but also running the elctrical sine there is no light currently in the existing roof. Wally did a great job, and has won our business on future projects. I will be sure to provide updates on the next projects as well.
Description of Work: Installed new windows throughout the entire home, including the attic and basement. Additionally, capping was installed around all windows.

Wally showed up on the date agreed and on time. He began by explaining to me what he would do and how he was going to do it . He had all the appropriate tools and materials to do the job and kept the job site neat and free from debris. He was professional and courteous and completed the job in a timely manner. Wally also had an assistant who worked with him and his job ethic was the same as Wally's. I would recommend Manfredia's Carpentry and General Contracting to anyone needing carpentry work.. Thanks Wally for a great job.

Unfortunately, Friday came and went without an estimate from Manfredia. I sent an email to inquire about it and was told Wally had gone out of town and I would receive the estimate by the next Friday. Alas, again there was no estimate, nor was there any communication about why he didn't want the job. This was an unexpected result given Wally Manfredia's stellar reviews on Angie's List. I will be hiring someone else.
Description of Work: Wally Manfredia came to look at my kitchen in order to prepare an estimate for remodeling. I knew what I wanted done and he said it would be a simple and quick job because we would not be relocating any walls or any major plumbing. He was interested and courteous. He drew up a quick sketch of my idea for the front of the island, which I liked. He promised me an estimate by that Friday, We also talked about replacing my front door and he said he would send me some brochures.

Response from Manfredia's Carpentry & General Contracting, LLC
After researching what happened we found that this customer's estimate was sent to her at the email address she provided. It is in our sent bin on 4/26/13. Unfortunately it may have been deleted from her inbox or ended up in another folder which is out of our control. We were looking forward to working with her.
Manfredia's Carpentry is, by far, one of the best companies anyone could ever hire. Our family always gets two or three estimates when we're ready to have a job done in our home. When we were ready to tear out an old, ugly railing in our living room, and have something new and modern installed, we called a few companies from Angie's List. As soon as Wally came over and described the custom railing he could design and create for us, I knew he'd be the carpenter we would hire. He helped us every step of the way during the process of figuring out exactly what we wanted, and a few weeks later he installed exactly what we desired. We are beyond happy with the finished work. He is a true craftsman. He also tore out an old wall of paneling in our living room. When he and his team saw what was behind the wall, which was not what he had hoped to find there, he immediately sent pictures to my husband and gave him a few options for what we could do. We decided to have Wally install the proper support system behind our brand new, gorgeous wall. In the end, he and Ryan did the entire project without ever creating a dusty mess in our living room. It was as if we were not having an entirely new wall constructed in our home...they are that neat and clean. Also, Wally would always take the time to answer any questions during the project, and he always made sure that he was doing the work according to our specifications. After creating and painting our new wall, he installed a simple, yet elegant surround around the fireplace with a lovely trim, which he painted fresh white. Also, during the project, Wally noticed that we had a lot of drywall missing in the ceiling of our basement, and our garage doors were cracked. I explained to him that the problems were the result of a DIY garage door installation project from a couple of years ago that did not go exactly right. He was concerned about the safety of parking our car in the garage with it in that state, and, after quickly getting us a description and estimate of how he could fix the garage for us, he and his guys did that additional work at the same time as the other work was finishing. That truly meant the world to me, because now I have the peace of mind of knowing that our garage is safe to use. I have two young children, and I could tell that Wally was genuinely concerned for their safety. In the end, I really cannot say enough positive things about Wally, his team, and his work. I mentioned above that we always get two or three estimates before doing a project. However, down the road, when we've saved up enough to get our basement remodeled, we won't even bother getting other estimates. We'll just call Wally.
Description of Work: tore out old railing in entryway, and up steps to second floor built and installed new, custom wooden railing tore out old paneling from large living room wall installed metal brackets behind the new wall installed insulation for the new wall installed and painted new drywall installed and painted new fireplace trim installed new, fire resistant drywall in the garage repaired garage doors replaced insulated weather stripping outside garage doors
We had an excellent experience with Manfredia Carpentry starting with the bidding process. Wally (the owner of the company) came out to do the estimate himself. He was punctual, professional, kind, and very patient. This was our first renovation project so we had a lot of questions. Even before he received the signed contract, Wally answered all of our questions and even came out again to clarify our heating options. The contract/quote was very detailed about the work to be done (down to the number of paint coats he would apply to the walls)! Once the contract was awarded, the work started on time as promised. Wally uses his own team for everything except electrical and carpeting. He works closely with electrical and carpeting companies so everything was well coordinated and seamless from my perspective. At the end of each work day the job site was clean and neat and I received a report on progress. A rarity among contractors! The communication was outstanding. I was the primary contact and I was kept in the loop on the timing of the upcoming project stages and promptly advised of any delays to the time line or daily work schedule (e.g.due to weather or delays in product delivery). Unfortunately, our job was happening during the unusually rainy October and November. So, though no fault of Wally's, our work was completed 1 month later than estimated. We did have several change orders as the work progressed (e.g. we substituted french doors for the initially scoped solid door). Wally accommodated our requests and gave timely/accurate quotes for the additional work. One of our change orders was for electrical work verbally discussed but not specifically outlined in the contract. Though at the end of the project, we were pleased that Wally accommodated our request to have the work done. With experience comes wisdom, however, and next time we will make sure that everything discussed is in writing so that there are no surprises on either end. At final inspection, Wally and my husband walked through our remaining punch list of items and he took care of them for us. He also promised to come back in the spring once it had warmed up to address any issues that arose during the cold winter months. I give Manfredia Carpentry an A++ and plan to work with them again in the future. We love our renovated porch and wholeheartedly recommend Manfredia Carpentry!
Description of Work: Manfredia Carpentry did a complete renovation of our enclosed front porch. Windows/doors were replaced/upgraded, walls were added/finished, new lights and fans were installed. New casework, heating/cooling systems and carpeting was installed.
Perfect. Rapid response and estimate. Work performed professionally and precisely on time, with impeccable clean-up. He returned immediately to attend to minor details. Wally Manfredia performed all of the work himself, and was exceptionally attentive to our needs and specific choices. He is extremely responsive and, at all times, a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: Mr. Manfredia built a custom-designed bookcase and shelf, secured the bookcase to existing cases, and painted the new and old units.
Wally and his team were just excellent! I didn't realize how much work he has done for us until I went through your checklist. Totally trust him in our home, they are real craftsmen. Price is not always the lowest but my wife and I want quality and value. We continue to use Wally at home and at our office building.

Our overall experience with Wally Manfredia has been excellent. We love everything that Wally has done in our house. From the beginning Wally made a difficult experience like a renovation as pleasant as possible. He stays with the job until it is completed. He always let us know when he would arrive and was always on time. He LISTENED to what we wanted and asked questions to make sure that he was completing the project the way that we wanted. He gave us important suggestions and kept us well informed with each step. He explained things clearly and answered our questions no matter how simple they were. He cleaned up each day. If there were any problems after the work was completed like a loose board, Wally came and fixed it quickly. He made sure that all of the subcontractors that work with him are top quality. What this all comes down to is that he is an fantastic contractor who knows his business. All of his work is excellent. He is a hard worker who takes pride in his work. He is honest. We can't say enough positive about him. We will continue to use Manfredia's Carpentry for all of our contracting needs. We are so very pleased with everything that he has done.
Description of Work: Wally has completed work for us over the last three years. His first job involved renovating a bathroom to make it handicapped accessible for our 90 year old mother who was moving in with us He installed a pocket door for the bathroom. Included in the job was the creation of a new bathroom with a walk in shower in the basement. He built a linen closet in the new bathroom. He installed an egress door in the basement. He removed the drop ceiling in the basement bedroom and drywalled it. He built a deck and painted it. This year Wally moved our kitchen from the front of the house to the back of the house where the dining room was. He used some of the garage space to build a walk in pantry in the new kitchen. He extended the foor into the sunroom to increase the size of the new kitchen. He had to remove the old wall pannels and dry wall. He had to remove the sliding glass door and wall seperating the sunroom from the new kitchen. He had to remove the old kitchen and remove the two old windows and reframe the front for one large window. He removed the ceiling and lofted it . He removed an old closet and created a shelving unit with an arch. He then had to remove the outside arches from the front of the house due to termite damage. He installed a new support beam and two new arches and restuccoed the outside. He added a new section to the roof to create a front porch. He had a concrete pad poured and then tiled it. He installed new gutters and replaced rotted soffit all around the house. He replaced a large sliding glass door in the living room. He built a new deck off of the kitchen. He replaced two front windows and capped them. He installed a new front door. He installed a pocket door in the hallway to separate the living area from the bedrooms. All new lights were installed in each area. He painted all of the new work. He enlarged the entrance from the kitchen to the dining room and enlarged an opening between the living room and diningroom. He had to install headers in both of those new openings. He installed hardwood floors. He tiled the backsplash and tiled the new window sill. Removed a window in the new kitchen and framed it in for the oven and microwave. Removed sliding glass door and reframed it for a large window. I know that I am forgetting things.
My home improvement project was a great experience. I told Wally what I wanted and he delivered 100%. Everything was done professionally and completely and left in clean condition. His advice and expertise helped the process run smoothly.I call Wally for all work that needs to be done at my home.

We have used Wally for several projects over the course 10 or more years. We started with replacing old hollow closet and bedroom doors. He did such a beautiful job that that I asked him to do another project which then became another and another with the same results-perfection! He wants his customers to be happy so if we had even a minor complaint, Wally fixed it to our liking. Wally is very good at laying things out so we could get a better picture of how our finished project would look. He is the only person we call for any of our renovations. Not much is left to do in our house-we have replaced doors, windows, a roof, gutters, sided and painted the exterior, remodeled two and a half bathrooms, added crown molding, finished the basement, added a sump pump in the basement, customized all of our closets to utilize the space properly, installed landscape lighting, remodeled our laundry room, installed hardwood floors in three bedrooms, and a host of other projects. Our most recent project was a conglomeration of things that included finishing our sons's closets, sealing our patterned concrete patio and front walk and installing a generator. We were still in the process of finishing those projects when our hot water heater flooded our basement (that Wally remodeled only 6 years ago). We were away (our son reported it to us) and we immediately called Wally who dropped everything and ran over to our house. He spent the next several hours moving furniture, taking out wet carpet and padding and supervising the plumber who installed the new hot water heater that day. Wally, of course, is now going to re-finish the space for us. Just after Christmas one year, we noticed a leak in our powder room ceiling. We called Wally and he came right over. As it turned out, the pan in our bathroom shower must have had a pin hole in it allowing the leak to develop slowly over time. The bathroom had been beautifully remodeled with glass doors and lovely tile. Wally not only restored the bathroom exactly as it had been as well as repaired the area in the powder room that was damaged, he also did not charge us a dime! He stands behind his work! Wally and his crew are very respectful and tidy-when they leave for the day, everything is neat and clean. We can't ask for more than that!

Our experience for the last 12 years, almost 13, with Wally Manfredia has been incredible. You hear so many horror stories about contractors not showing up when they say they will, taking off with deposit money never to be seen or heard from again, and contractors cutting corners and doing shoddy work. With Wally you get quality work at a fair price. Wally is honest, takes pride in his work and stands by it. If you have any problems after the work is done he'll come back out and make sure it gets done right. One of the unique things about Wally Manfredia is that he's there for his regular customers day and night. We have had broken pipes and leaking roof emergencies which he's responded to promptly. When my husband and I go out of town we always leave our house sitter with his number, just in case. Having Wally as your contractor is having peace of mind.
Description of Work: My husband and I met Wally Manfredia approximately 12 years ago. We had recently moved into our house in Newtown Square and were having it painted. The pent roof above the garage was rotted and the painter recommended Manfredia's Carpentry. Wally came out to give us a free estimate for the pent roof, however that was only the beginning of the major overhaul on our house that was to come. From there we had Manfredia's Carpentry replace all of our windows, remodel our basement, convert our garage into a music studio, remodel our kitchen, install 5 1/2" oak flooring throughout the house, build two additions (sunroom and front vestibule), build a detached garage, remodel all 4 of our bathrooms and build one in the basement, built a custom bar in the basement, install a 6 foot shadowbox fence around the perimeter of our property, install railings up the walkway in the front of our house and up the stairs in the back, install recessed lighting, speakers and ceiling fans throughout our home, paint our house inside and out, replace all of the doors in our house, install landscape lighting up the back steps, build custom built-ins in the family room and kitchen, built picture frame wains coating in dining room, install ogee trim throughout house, install custom seven piece molding throughout house, build two custom mantels around fireplaces, remodel laundry room, installation of ceramic tile in mudroom and basement, build custom staircase in front foyer, redesign first floor layout, install two sets of french doors, install new front door and sidelights, enlarged back door and replacement of back door, install french drain around perimeter of basement, crocks and sump pump, redesign master bedroom suite including master bath, install siding on additions, install PVC Trim around all exterior doors and windows, custom built shed, build planter benches and boxes for the patio, fill in pool, install gutters with flo-free gutter shields, maintenance staining of exterior wood, maintenance power washing of tennis court, patio and walkways, sod yard, mulch beds, planting, etc. Prior to most of these projects was a huge amount of demolition and removal which Manfredia's Contracting also did. As if that all wasn't enough, my husband and I also own an investment property which Wally has cared for as well. There he has built two custom decks, installed two skylights, installed patio doors, installed windows, capped windows and doors, painted exterior and interior, stained decks, installed gutter with flo-free gutter shields, installed new roof, installed garbage disposal and replaced interior trim around windows and doors. Did I mention we did a lot?!?
