JumpStart Organizing has been in business since 2006 & is a member of NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers). When you feel overwhelmed, we are the ones to call and help you with your organizing challenges. We help organize your home, your move, your photos, your life! In order for a space to be organized the homeowner needs to be involved. Part of organizing is sorting and discarding, so the remaining space fits everything and there is room for future items to fit into the organized space. We have a passion for what we do and we work with you to get your project under control. We can work "one on one" with you or we can offer a "team approach" for quicker results. JumpStart Organizing works in the 5 counties surrounding Philadelphia, Wilmington, DE area and also parts of NJ (just over the bridge).

Description of Work: I think that my expectations for this provider were unrealistic. I have a lot of clothes in an unconventional storage closet room and I hoped to get them sorted and organized by two women (plus me)in four hours. When they arrived (on time as agreed,)my clothes were all on hangers, jammed into four closets, or hanging on the doors of the closets. When they left, we had filled three large, clear plastic trash bags with donations and three green trash bags with trash. I was left with a large pile of sweaters, etc. on the floor. They suggested that I fold these sweaters and put them on the floor of the closet. There was no room to hang them up, since everything was re-organized into categories, i.e. pants, skirts, dresses, etc.Since I am concerned about moths, I thought this was a bad idea. Our time was up and they asked if I would like to make another appointment. I said no. We started out on a positive note but I was feeling very adversarial toward the end of our time together. When everything was not fitting back into the closets, their implication was that I was not giving away enough clothes. I told them that I was not going to throw clothes away just because they did not fit into the plan they had envisioned. The "boss" seemed to realize that she had offended me and apologized. Once again, I am sensitive to the fact that I presented them with a challenging job. I have a lifestyle that demands that I have a wide range of clothes: everything from labcoats to ball gowns. They found this daunting, and they seemed very judgmental about what I needed to keep and what I could give away. I knew I was in trouble when they didn't understand Nantucket Baskets. I have my mother's and my mother-in-law's and my own heirloom baskets and they felt I could put a couple in the give away bag. I have a feeling that this may be a new business for these women and I hate to be discouraging to folks who maybe just need more experience. I think it is great when women start a service business that utilizes skills that they already have, providing services for people who can't or don't want to do those things for themselves. In this case, I feel that their price was agressive for the value received. (And, it was an Angie's List Deal!!) In my situation, they were clearly in over their heads. On the other hand, they did prompt me to tackle the space and I have since re-organized everything into the space available. I hate to write a negative review for a provider whose intentions are good, but, for me, it was a negative experience. I could have, and maybe should have, used my cleaning woman for this job with better results for less cost.You can decide how much of this review gets seen by the general public.

Yes, organizing takes time and an area that a homeowner wishes to organize sometimes takes more time than the "big deal" allotted. We accomplished quite a bit and my suggestions about a proper closet system would work for your situation. Always happy to help with any organizing project.

Description of Work: I was left with a huge mess to clean up at the end of the 3 hours. If your going to commit to a job done in 3 hours then you need to be very efficient with your time. If your in the organizing business then you need to organize what it is you can get done within that time and stick to that and get it done.

Thank you for your review, I appreciate it. Sometimes a space can be organized in 3 hours, but other times, it will take more time to complete that project. Purchasing a “big deal” with a set amount of hours, 3 in this case, does not guarantee that a closet can be organized in 3 hours. In order for a space to be organized the person needs to be involved. A huge walk-in closet does take time. Going through items and making decisions can be daunting and time consuming. Part of organizing is sorting and discarding, so the remaining space fits everything and there is room for future items to fit into the organized space. When I arrived the first time for our appointment I was told that this was not a good time, so I rescheduled to return at a later date. After our “3 hour” appointment was finished, I suggested that I would return in a few hours that same day, to help finish up the closet project. Description of Work: Donna came over and looked at 2 messy rooms. She determined to spend the time organizing in the 1 room that would help me the most. She means business and wastes no time in assigning duties for me to focus on. And I needed to focus. We rearranged the room per her designer training, sorted as needed, trashed some, and donated some. She helped me accomplish a lot and encouraged me to continue. The look of my new bedroom made me feel SO much better, as I was in great need for change.

Having recently become widowed I am feeling overwhelmed with organizing my home as well as having to sort through my loved ones belongings and donate items to charity, etc. Donna was a very good listener. She gave me many suggestions for how I could accomplish my goals in small steps. She will help me clean out closets, my basement and garage and organize both my paper files and computer files. I spent a lot of the time talking about all the projects I need to tackle and also gave her a tour of all the areas I need help with downsizing and organizing. I believe she is very experienced and has many resources to assist me in achieving my goals. I tend to become frozen when looking at all I need to do and am not sure how to even begin, I plan to use her services and believe she will be very efficient and help me de-clutter my home and begin the process of downsizing for a future move. I also need immediate help in getting my paperwork and files in order. I would recommend her to others in need of services of this nature.
Description of Work: Donna arrived right on time. She is very professional and non judgmental as well as being very respectful of my home, belongings and personal space. She helped me to see the "big picture" and to set goals for accomplishing my tasks in small increments to make it more manageable.

It was a very positive experience. We're organizing the home office so the young lady, the owner, holds very good suggestions, many of which we are acting on. She's very helpful. I did a search on Angie's List, whatever I searched for or it's home organizing, I looked at the ratings, and I picked out who was near the top of the ratings for home organizing. It was worth the $89 and the price was very reasonable especially since it was a Big Deal price.

I have been dealing with a chronic illness for years and thought that someday it will get better and I?ll be able to manage organization of the home. Years later, it became clear that I needed a plan B so I called Donna. Donna was awesome. She arrived a few minutes early. Three of the family members were present and we all worked together. She had a gentle presence. Most important to me was Donna?s nonjudgmental and supportive presence. She was thoughtful and insightful as she expressed her understanding of how difficult it is to have someone come in to help you get back on track with de cluttering. Donna quickly picked up on family dynamics and strengths (and yes, challenges) and assigned tasks accordingly. She maintained focus for 3 straight hours!! She was very thorough-even cut off dead leaves from a hanging plant. We are still awed by the transformation of the room that she worked on. We have scheduled her to come back and look forward to reclaiming our home. Today I began working on an area for Donna?s upcoming visit. I had difficulty maintaining focus and staying on task beginning to feel overwhelmed. It made me realize the value of Donna?s presence!! I

The project was completed over 6 months. The most active phase was the initial three months to empty my mom's rather large condo, after her death. The later phase was to sort through where it would best go, when many boxes landed at my home. Not only did she make a difficult project go much smoother, she was understanding and considerate during the process. She was such an inspiration that I decided I needed to get my home in order and so I hired her to assist me in that task. I love being able to find things now and Donna is slowly getting me back on track. I would highly recommend her to anyone!
Description of Work: Assisted with the process of organizing and sorting the clean out of my mom's home. This involved several auction companies, charitable donations, family requests, in addition to a mountain of papers. She assisting with the sorting and decision making that was essential to complete the task.

Description of Work: I actually used their services twice since the first of this year. Donna helped me organize my pantry by adding a few badly needed shelves and discarding food that had long expired. I was so happy with the results that we tackled my husbands office from a room full of clutter that we could hardly walk through to a beautiful functioning office that I was proud to show off!! .
