The owner of the business contacted us following our request on Angie's list. He came back at a time we agreed and developed a proposal he provided. We agreed on the work to do and the price. He worked to get our work done in a timely way - ahead of the projected time. The work was done fast and efficiently. The owner came on the day of the work to be done - he met with us and let us know what would take place, checked his measurements and organized his team for the work. All the work was done on time and the quality was great. Very professional in every way. High quality work. This firm was one of my best experiences with a construction firm.

J Scott Paving gave me the best price when I researched paving estimates. The quality of the job is outstanding. George, the owner, is a very professional, caring man. He suggested that I line my driveway with river rock to enhance its longevity as the driveway is perched on a hill. The gentlemen working on my driveway were also courteous and professional. I would highly recommend J Scott Paving!!!

I highly recommend John Scott. I had some difficulty tracking him down in the office during the off-season, but after I started using his cell number, John was a pleasure to work with. He takes a ton of pride in his work. He actually convinced me to spend less on my re-paving job than I had initially anticipated (other contractors convinced me I needed to unnecessary work done). He provided a quick and fair quote and had the job done in one day when others were targeting three days to a week. And the finished product looks outstanding! John is my new go-to for all future driveway work.

I called and requested an estimate on getting my driveway done. They came out quickly and went over all my options, including removing some old railroad ties along a fence. After accepting the estimate had to wait a 6 weeks for them to come out, but once here they got the whole driveway torn out and repaved in 1 day. Looks great and they did exactly what I asked for. Good work at a good price. Can't ask for much more.

Excellent customer service, from point of contact when requesting an estimate and all the way through to completion of job. Great quality workmanship over all. I have no hesitation in recommending John and will certainly hire him again.

When I called to schedule an estimate, I asked the company to schedule an appointment so I could be home to meet the service man. The man came out the next day without notifying me, so I did not get a chance to explain what I needed done. He gave me two estimates, both of which I felt to be average. But he said he could not promise he could grade my driveway so that the water moves away from the house. He did not remember what my driveway looked like. But he also said that when he graded my driveway, he would have to insure that my neighbor's driveway did not get water. He made no sense to me. Do not use him...he can't make up his mind.

John from J. Scott was fantastic to work with from his estimate through project closeout. He had even been extremely helpful with questions I had after they had already finished. The work they did was amazing. They took my old driveway, refinished it age expanded it by 4 feet. The work quality and product is outstanding! The driveway looks beautiful. I will surely user them again if I ever need similar work done. A wonderful company that I would recommend to anyone ave everyone.

I am very happy with my experience with J Scott Paving. Their price was by far the best and their work was immaculate. The driveway and walkway are still perfectly smooth and water drains off of them perfectly. George Scott was great to work with and was always punctual and professional. The work was done very quickly with no hidden costs or surprises. The driveway has been in for about 9 months now and still looks great!

They did a wonderful job. My driveway is on an incline. I had some questions for them and they came back the next day after they did the driveway to check on the driveway. What I didn’t know was when you put a driveway in there is a space between the driveway and the ground that needs to be seeded. We are very pleased with it. He returns calls right away and called back after it was done.

I was responded to within an hour, and 24 hours later was called and told that they were booked and could not service me this year. Disappointed because you would think that they would have mentioned this in the initial contact. I guess my job was too small .

As always, dealing with John Scott is a pleasure. J. Scott Paving was the company that originally installed a new driveway for me in April 2009. This is the third time they coated/sealed it and it continues to look as good now as when it was brand new! John is very responsive, very professional, and very thorough. He communicates very well and in his written estimate/contract spells out exactly what will be done and how it will be done. If there are ever any questions about anything, he will offer honest explanations or alternatives. I highly recommend John and will continue using him in the future. With Scott Paving, you're always assured of quality work at a reasonable price.

I appreciate a company that has responsive owners. I had a few problems with the way the rubber filler was applied to cracks.. Mr. Scott was very responsive to my concerns and remedied the situation to my satisfaction. I appreciated his personally reaching out to me to take care of the situation. The sealcoating itself is wonderful and I think will last me a good few years.

J. Scott Paving was the middle of 3 bids in price. He convinced me he knew his job and was giving me a fair price. The job included sloping the driveway to ensure water drained into an existing drain and constructing a curb to properly direct water coming from a neighboring property. Given the drainage issue, the high bidder suggested additional work that ran the cost very high. John assured me the same goals could be achieved with a little planning and little extra work. One year after completing the job I am entirely pleased with the result. John's crew did an excellent job and they cleaned up well.

A portion of my driveway was separating and another area was sinking. I also needed sealcoating on the rest of the driveway. John and Rafael came and cut out the bad spots and installed fresh asphalt. I am very pleased with the way this work was done. He came back the following week after the repairs had cured and did the sealing. A very thorough and professional job. I highly recommend!

seal was fine. patch is average. does not match the rest of the driveway in texture and has already come up a little. john did come back and seal it again to try and keep it down. i really think it needed a much heavier or hotter machine to roll over it then what was used (the township do asphault patches in our neighborhood that have the proper texture) and we will see if it holds. john is a nice guy and was responsive.

We were originally scheduled for last fall. our new masonry walkway could not be completed before the winter and delayed the new driveway. F. Scott worked with our schedule and did not increase the price after an eight month delay from the original quote. John answered all calls promptly. His crew was professional and efficient.

We had water issues due to the back corner of our yard being the culmination point of three different house's surface/rain water. All of the water from these houses ended up on in our back yard behind our driveway and thus, in a hard rain, water would flow down our driveway and up to the house and we would have a wet basement. After installing a french drain, the basement was relatively dry, but due to another contractor's major mistake, when they poured a new walkway and cement foundation for our porch extension, they pitched the cement so that the water coming down the driveway now headed down the walkway and pooled right next to the foundation, causing water to enter into our new, finished "dry" basement! Since we had invested so much money to put in the new porch, tearing out all of the cement and porch was not cost-effective. Naturally, the cement company we used went out of business. They were terrible! How could they not know how to pitch cement?!? After two years of sand-bags trying to redirect the water flow, along with outrageously costly quotes for potential "solutions" to solve our flooding problem ($7-$17K), we finally came up with our own solution to keep all of the rain water away from the house. With sand bags, we were able to divert the water away from the house and basement by keeping it on the driveway--our basement stayed dry for years. However, sand bags are not pretty nor a permanent solution so we needed a company who could recreate our sandbag water diversion system. Enter J. Scott Paving. Mr. Scott came to our house to look over our driveway and give an estimate. We painstakingly explained the situation and what we had done to fix it. We explained that we needed something that would emulate our sandbag situation, otherwise our basement would flood. Because of the length of our driveway and our water problem, Mr. Scott was worried that we might not have enough pitch to successfully get all the water down. He came out and measured with a laser system and determined that it could be done, with a little less pitch than he normally likes. However, he said they should be able to build up the sides of the driveway so that the driveway could hold the water in case the slightly less pitch wouldn't be able to get the water down the driveway fast enough. In addition, he assured us that he would have his "best guy" come in and lay down the asphalt so that the water would flow directly down the middle of the driveway. The driveway crew arrived and took a total of three days to complete the job. First, they tore out our old driveway completely. Next, they brought in loads of dirt and gravel to build up the back and sides of the driveway even more. Last, they added the asphalt and pitched the driveway. While they were adding asphalt, they constantly flowed water down the driveway to make sure the water was flowing in the middle. Once the driveway was done, it worked like a charm...except... When the crew added all the new sand/dirt/gravel to build up the driveway, the end of the driveway was now higher than the end of the yard. What this now created was a big water "dam" that would cause the water to go around the end of the driveway, into our yard and then go up to the house foundation, flooding our basement once again. In addition, Hurricane Sandy was heading our way. We were very worried that our house was going to flood. Mr. Scott was able to get us dirt at cost and had his crew come in with wheelbarrows and dump many, many yards of dirt mixed with gravel at the back of the driveway and into our neighbor's back yard, re-leveling out the yard with the driveway so water would go onto the driveway. His crew couldn't get trucks up our driveway because the asphalt was so new, so hand-carting the dirt to the end of the driveway was the only option. His workers then pounded down the dirt/gravel mix with their "thumpers" so that it would be relatively hard-packed and not collapse with the pending storm. With the new driveway and dirt, our house stayed miraculously dry and has been dry ever since! However, we are not done yet... About six months after the driveway was finished, I noticed spots of dirt peaking through. There were places where the asphalt was laid so thin that it separated and dirt was showing through. I called up the company and asked them to patch the driveway. The person who came out to look at the holes also found a couple of other places that were thin. They came back out and repaired the thin spots at no cost. We also had them seal-coat the driveway later on that year. They did a great job. Overall, J. Scott Paving went way out of their way to make sure we were satisfied and to help us out quickly to prevent our house from flooding. We are so happy with their work that we called them to give us an estimate on replacing the driveway on our new house. It was because I called them for a new estimate that I decided to write this review. I couldn't be more happy with the quality of their work, their responsiveness to our concerns, and standing behind their service.

Fair price, installed new driveway as promised, as scheduled. Excellent attention to detail, very clean and took care with preparation and clen up. Would use this service again and would recommend them. I especially liked that the owner was on site, provided an accurate estimate and supervised the work and the clean up. Well done.

I wish I could provide a real review. Unfortunately, J Scott does not seem to need my business. They never returned my call requesting a visit and estimate.

I would recommend this family business to anyone who wants or need road/paving work done. They did the entire job within hours after I first contacted them. they even showed me pictures of the job that day (the actual work was in the next county over Chester County).
