EXCELLENT ! May I start this reveiw by saying even though we ran into unforseen circumstances, 1 .Huge hole around floor drain when floor pan was removed for replacement. 2.No room in rear wall to convert faucent and controls to opposite wall. Rick took things in stride and repaired all things as necessary. Removing the original concrete and flooring under the old floor pan, filling the hole as needed. After setting the pan the back wall was built out 2" in order to facilitate relocating water lines. These events caused the original finish date to be moved 48 hrs. Rick had kept us informed every step of the way. When completed, everything was clean, and ready to paint.(Which we will do ourselves) Again I wish to thak Rick for all he has done. A truly professional job,not to mention his originalquote was 1/3 of the quote we received from a national remodeler who will rermaimn nameless at this time. Again..THANK YOU RICK !

he first replied to me and was nice at first but as the week went by with replies, the emails were not so nice and we went back and forth way too much to get anything done. i told him exactly what we needed done and that i had bought what was needed to complete the job. i sent photos and everything as requested along with measurements and all. i was trying to save this person a trip to my house to look at anything for distance purposes and i do not sit home all day twiddling thumbs. we work for a living and are home late. i was nice about it. rick actually had the nerve to say to me his last email there were too many red lags that he thought the best way to handle the project was to decline, after he said he would do the job. not very professional if you ask me! i am not a 20 year old kid here but was treated like one. did not appreciate the disrespect and did not appreciate his communication skills or anything else and not carrying through with the job.

Response from Maryland Home Improvement Solutions
Customer wanted some bathroom work done . I called soon after request and made contact. She described her project as a labor only small project. I tried to set up a free estimate and she stated due to work schedule she couldn't schedule a home estimate and she would send me pics and measurements. As she did. I told her I could give her a rough cost but until I look at job I can't send her a contract. I gave her a cost and she didn't like my cost and didn't hear from her for about 28 days. Then i get a message can you do a small bathroom remodel. I replied yes and to give me a call the next day. The next day I asked her for a material list of things she has to make sure sure they are correct and right amount she responded by "if you read your emails you would know" (what she emailed me was " floating floor and a vanity top). At this point she still wouldnt set up a date for a home site check , over a month going back and fourth I thought this project wasn't going to go smoothly so I told her I decided to decline the work. I never met this women, she never had a contract with me . This was barley an estimate and as a self employed person I have the right to decline any project if I think there will be problems with potential clients. and guess what ... I was right! Like i said in the last email I sent her. Good luck on your project.

The job went well. Rick met with us in the beginning and listened to our input and added his opinions. Rick and his crew showed up everyday as expected and cleaned up after each days work. We paid them in pre arranged payments once each step of the job was completed. Crew was polite and trustworthy job was completed on time and in budget

It went very well. We were able to have the installation done in a very timely manner. Where others told us it would take a day or maybe two to complete the project, the representative who did the work for us was able to get it all done within 4 hrs. That included the electrical wiring, the plumbing and the cabinet itself. I thought we would need an individual plumber, an electrician and then the cabinet maker but this was not the case. Waited 15 years to have this done but those who we talked to said it could not be done. Thanks to this company, my wife is happy and that makes me happy. Absolute best present I could have given to her. Thanks to Maryland Home Improvement. Definitely recommend this company and give them a 5 star rating.

At first it went well, had him just do the ceiling and exhaust venting as a first phase. There were difficulties and quite a few extra cost surprises I was unaware would be charged extra for such as new insulation. He had to build down the ceiling for room to install vent and I understood the extra cost of that but not insulation as I thought that would be a usual replacement for renovations. We had disagreement about how to route the exhaust line and he refused to do it my way which would have been a four foot run versus the 15 foot he opted for. His option did not even place the vent outside but to some imaginary vented soffit I told him we didn’t have. When we started the second phase we discovered he ran the vent line right into the wall! We complained about that,no apology, just an explanation that he “ pushed it as far as he could” . I demanded it go out through the wall and he did do that. About two weeks later the fan was no longer pushing air out ,it was blowing back into bathroom. He blamed it on a timer switch I installed! I went out on roof myself and found he installed a broken used vent and painted it siding color and it was stuck shut. This is just the worse offense I have the rest listed below. 1 attempted to use glue to install towel rack he improperly lagged 2 none of the nail holes in wood trim were puttied over 3 deeply marked the drywall with pencil under our mirror 4 threshold improperly done and is also glued on,we were told by him he would build a new one when he looked at job originally. 5 larger gaps under molding around new flooring 6 reused old water line to toilet 7 used two pieces of wood poorly spliced together over window and did not sand smooth 8 window installation went week and half past promised date ,upon confronting him he said the first one was wrong and he had to refuse it. He did not mention that the first time we asked about window. 9 the picture of the wall shows the poor job of priming he did before it was sopposedly ready for me to paint.Throughout this Richard was evasive when asked about problems, many times he ignored my texts or emails or was terse with me when he did. I fired him from the job before the window was installed as I no longer trusted him to do any further work for us. He did deliver the window but none of the paperwork or receipt. This was a very disappointing experience to say the least. I included a picture of the T-shirt he showed up wearing when he came to give original quote,I really should have taken it as a sign of the type of businessman and Craftsmen he truly was.

Response from Maryland Home Improvement Solutions
Let me start off by saying I messed up with the vent. This house is a old home and the bathroom alone went through atleast 2 addition projects before the renovation project I did. I checked the outside soffit vent and it was vented so I went over the outside wall in the attic with the vent pipe facing downward towards where the soffits were. Unknowingly the addition that was built closed in the soffit so the pipe was just in the wall. I acknowledge my mistake and vented it through the wall . Hearing about all the issues he had with the siding contractor I was hesitant about touching the siding in the beginning that's why I went to the soffit instead. The picture he has in this review was during the install not the completed work. I would never just leave a exposed pipe coming through the wall. This part I take full fault on and did at the time also. Throughout this project the customer would call or text me at 4am or even as late as midnight. If I didnt respond in 15 minutes he would send another 1 and another 1. It got to the point where his wife suggested I just talk to her because "he likes to intimidate people" . At the end of the day customer has a nice bathroom and it was done correctly. I didnt know he took a picture or noticed the shirt I was wearing (very awkward)but I'm guessing it was a political shirt and he was offended by it. Not enough to not hire me or even say something about it...just kept it in his mind and used it against me later........contract signing was about 6pm on on my way to an outing with wife and friends. I typically dont wear political shirts to work for this reason. Angie's list should start a customer review where contractors can rate the customers.....this could be a great tool.

Rick and his team did an excellent job remodeling my first bathroom that I contracted him to remodel a second bathroom and retile my kitchen floor. Rick was flexible with me making changes during some of the remodel without any issues. He always kept me updated on progress and explained why he was doing things to meet code. There were issues with some of the kitchen tile being the wrong size and Rick handled it by contacting the company I purchased the tile and distributor. Friendly and trustworthy, most of the time I couldn’t be home so I gave him a key. If he needed assistance from another contractor he was always there escorting and supervising the contractor.

Let's see.. First off, I HATE writing negative reviews but this situation really had me fairly annoyed. I confirmed the date/time to come for an estimate for a decent amount of work and this contractor did not show up at all nor did he call me to tell me he was going to be late or that he flat out just wasn't going to show up at all. The confirmed appointment was for 4:45PM. I waited until 5:20PM after calling the # on the site listed twice and just getting the generic answering machine. I decided to call it quits to not waste more of my time or my agents time while being at the house. I emailed the contractor "no call no show?" to which I got an EMAILED response back 16 minutes later. While Richard did communicate with me perfectly fine prior via email the communication clearly fell apart today. It would have been perfectly fine for you to call me to tell me you cannot make it/need to cancel or that you're going to be late. I get it mistakes happen, schedules boil over, simply "Crap happens" from time to time but what pushed me over the edge to write this review is that you did not communicate AT ALL until afterwards. The fact that you could not even CALL me to apologize rather than sending me an email replay back speaks volumes. You may do great work but I'm not going to bother taking the chance to see if that's true or not because I need a contractor that can communicate and show up either on time or at all.
Description of Work: Scheduled an estimate plenty of time in advance with a confirmed date/time and sadly the contractor (Richard) did not show up nor call me to let me know he going to be late or not show up at all. (Waited 40 minutes)

Rick was great from start to finish. He even went with me to help pick out the tiles and availed me of his contractors discount on the materials. The existing kitchen tile required quite a bit of demolition which unfortunately led to a great deal of dust. That was the only downside to the whole job, Bottom line: the finished product looks great, and I get lots of compliments on the flooring in the kitchen. Rick was a pleasure to work with, and I would recommend him highly to anyone.

Rick was great. Incredibly helpful, punctual, and professional. By far the best experience with a contractor we've ever had. Best of all, when he gave us a time frame for work to be completed (phase 1 at this point), he didn't just meet the deadline, he completed it before the deadline. So far, we are incredibly pleased. I'll update this review when phase 2 is completed.

He went with us to pick hardwood flooring and tile. He recommended a kitchen cabinet distributor and granite dealer. His suggestions worked out very well in the design of the kitchen. He started the kitchen at the beginning of November and promised us that we would have a working kitchen by Thanksgiving and he delivered on this promise. He arrived promptly each day and kept in tough with us if there was a change in his schedule. He is very conscientious. This is the second time we have had him work on our home. One year ago, he remodeled our bathrooms. We would use him again. We have always been satisfied with his work.
Description of Work: Rick removed a water damaged wall in the lower level and put up new sheetrock. He put down hardwood floors in the kitchen, dining area, livingroom, entrance way, and hallway. He remodeled the kitchen. Installed new cabinets, dishwasher, garbage disposal, sink, granite counter top, tile backsplash, moved ceiling fan to more acceptable location.

I will say that he was very time efficient in getting the work completed and the quality of work performed was top notch. This company was also responsible for completing renovations for a bathroom of mine a few years ago. I will not use any other contractor except for this one, I just cant say enough good about this company and am very pleased. I would highly recommend them for any job no matter how big or small. I have known the Maryland Home Improvement Solutions staff since 2011 when I contracted the company for my first of many house projects. From the onset, I was extremely impressed and appreciative by their professionalism and reliability. During the time I have known Maryland Home Improvement Solutions, they have very dependable and are always willing to provide a helping hand, regardless of the time required to complete a given task, especially for emergency repairs. It is evident by their years of experience that Richard and his staff are competent and proficient, therefore ensuring all projects are completed methodically. Without a doubt, Maryland Home Improvement Solutions? dedication and commitment to service is above reproach, and I highly recommend their services.

Response from Maryland Home Improvement Solutions
This project was a labor only contract (per Mr. [member name removed]'s request) customer was responsible for all materials. Mr. [member name removed] was in constant communication thru out this project by daily text and pictures so that even when he was out of town he would see the progress of the job. He was extremely happy with the entire bathroom except the installation of a shower door. that's when he became upset with me so let me give you some history of events. The customer ordered a 4' fiberglass shower base and a 4' shower door. The vendor he used mistakenly shipped a 5' shower door. I called the manufacture and vendor to try and solve this issue asap for i couldn't complete this project 100% without the door being installed. they agreed that they messed up ( Mr [member name removed] paid for a 4'door) they said they would rush the correct door and schedule a pick up date for the wrong 1. before moving farther i explained everything to mr [member name removed]. His response was "that's all you" I again told him that he in fact ordered a 4' but they shipped a 5' . he seems to be alright with everything still but is getting anxious about using the bathroom. i told him if he wanted to i could install a shower rod till the new door comes.(Please remember this is a labor job) I tried making this experience as nice as possible. while waiting for the new door to come Mr [member name removed] asked me to come upstairs to show me some tile in his kitchen that had cracked over the years ( i did not do the original tile work upstairs) he wanted about 7 or 8 tiles replaced and said he had plenty in the basement. before i started to remove any tiles i searched the basement and found only 2. Mr [member name removed] then hand picked the 2 tiles he wanted me to replace.i gave him a verbal cost of $100.00 to replace the 2 tiles using tiles he supplied. we replaced the 2 tiles and he said i cant pay you the remaining balance on the bathroom till the door gets installed but i will give you a check on Friday for the additional work( i would have and should have wrote a contract for this work but figured we were good) Mr. [member name removed] has still not paid for this work . so back to the bathroom . the door comes in and i go out there the very next day after it was received. i went and installed both fixed glass panels, went to install the pivot door bracket that connects to both stationary panels and noticed the pre drilled holes in the fixed glass didn't line up with bracket( about 1/8" out ) i know the 1st door wasn't my fault and the 2nd door also has issues so i wanted to give Mr [member name removed] a solution rather than just a problem. i scheduled a local glass company to come out and measure 1 of the stationary panels and relocate the holes offset 1/8" so the door would work. this way we have 2 options either return both doors ( and i would measure and order the right one this time) or have a pc of glass re cut. Mr [member name removed] said lets see how much it is so we waited 2 business days for a cost and estimated time for the glass to be made. on the 2nd day the glass company called and said they cant drill a hole that close to the edge and that they would have to make it a notch instead. Knowing that the bracket wouldn't cover the notch 100% I no longer thought having a pc of glass re cut was the best option anymore...so once again I want a solution to the problem i spent the rest of the day getting prices, availability and cost of glass pivot doors that fit his opening. and might i add that the doors i quoted were also finished the same as his fixtures (oil rubbed bronze) unlike the one he ordered Chrome. I called Mr [member name removed] the very next morning and he didn't answer so i left him a message telling him I wanted to come out after him and his wife got off work that day to go over a couple different options . he didn't return my call by lunch so i sent him a text. he usally responded from my text quickly but this time nothing.... so i sent him and his wife a email about the meeting I wanted to set up. still no response. Knowing time is of the essence i also contacted the door vendor again to see about returning both doors. they told me i would be responsible for a $150.00 re stocking fee. feeling partial responsible for the 2nd door not working out ( i shouldn't have assumed there 4' base would work with there 4' shower door. i should have measured the finished opening to see if they matched up with the door specs. ( this was a labor only job and i thought i was helping out). I worked it out with the vendor that if i delivered both doors to the manufacture ( 180 miles away) the customer would get all there money back( no re stocking fees). Towards the end of the day after multiple back and forth emails with the vendor the email me " you might want to make contact with you customer, they said they are keeping the 2nd door and they hired a competent contractor to finish the job".. At this point the customer has not contacted me back yet so i send another text and email asking whats going on and if they hiring someone else to finish the job. Sometime in the middle of the night i finally get a response email from Mr [member name removed]. saying i walked off the job Friday( which is the day i had the glass ppl at his house taking measurements and even talked to Mr [member name removed] while i was out there cause he promised to leave a check for the additional work i did. the email caught me off guard because the last time we talked i assumed we were good. he also stated he notified the police and i was not to come back on his property. This was disheartening considering I not only lost the remaining $525.00 balance on the job but he also never paid me for the additional $100.00 worth of work I did. So that’s a total of $625.00.00 and to make things even worse he also will not allow me to grab my equipment/tools that were still on the job. He now states that I have no tools on the jobsite . I lost all the way around and this guy is acting like im a horrible person. His generic comment about dishonest and deceptive and I misrepresented myself and my company is what I want to know .. how exactly did I do these things? What exactly did I do ? I would hope angies list can see thru this clients bogus lies. I have contacted the local police department and my insurance company to try and recoup my equipment losses. Looks like I will have to take him to small claims court for the money he owes me and the fraudulent statements about me and my company.

They quoted me for $5900. They're excellent. Their quality was excellent.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Maryland Home Improvement Solutions. It was for the complete remodel of the entire first floor. Their quote included the putting in a sliding door, replacing the entire one sided door to put in two different French doors as well as for the moving one wall, moving the bathroom and redoing a kitchen.

It went amazingly well. Rick is the owner from Maryland Home Improvement Solutions and is fantastic to work with. He is extremely knowledgeable, hardworking, and polite. Rick offered advice and suggestions for the deck and other projects that we are in the process of completing at our house. Rick let us know step-by-step what to expect with the deck. He even met us at the store to help select materials for our deck. The project was completed before the quoted time and it looks amazing. I highly reccommend Maryland Home Improvement Solutions and look forward to working with Rick for the next projects that are scheduled to be complete! I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Description of Work: Our exisiting deck was in really bad shape, so it was tore down. A new, larger deck was built using composite decking and vinyl rails.
