I had an old soft mortar and stone foundation wall that needed to be repaired in the basement of a 100 + year old house. . The repair presented an especially challenging position as it had stairs and a large cast iron sewer pipe directly in front of it. The wall previously had been patched, but that material had ultimately failed. Moisture had crept in and several chunks had fallen out. I called several waterproofing companies first, because their information had all said structural repair and foundation work, but they all told me this was a job for a mason. Angieslist didn't have too many masons listed for the area I was in, so I consulted the yellow pages. Two called me back to inform me they were no longer doing masonry work, two never responded, and Jim called. He was punctual for the time we set to review the project, told me what he would do to repair the damage and the approximate length of time needed to complete the repair and the cost. This was not an easy job. Structural supports had to be put in place to support the wall needing repair and the surrounding area. Jim did beyond what he said he was going to. He cleaned up nicely also, and though this is only a basic, mostly dirt floor basement, it sure looks nice, and sturdy now too.
Description of Work: Repaired a crumbling soft mortar and stone wall. Removed old wall and blocked up with cement block. Added structural supports and made the wall strong.
