The deck replacement project was completed on time and on budget. Quality was top notch. They replaced three of the joists and added an extra joist for no additional cost. Out of the four deck companies I received estimates from, they were the only ones who addressed an issue with the deck not being wide enough at one location to meet the building code. The work crew was great and started on time and cleaned up the work area.

I started gathering estimates last year for the replacement of our 430 square foot ground level deck. Randy replied to an email inquiry within one day and set up our initial consultation for a week later. During our meeting Randy took measurements, examined the the deck's current condition/construction and it ended with a discussion of design and materials that we might want in a new deck. The meeting was relaxed and informative. A few days later we received an estimate, which turned to out be very competitive, not the lowest but far from the highest. The construction of the deck, which included removal of old deck, new framing, installation of Trex Transcends decking, Timbertech Radiance Railing and lighting, took approximately a week. The crew did a great job. They showed up early, went right to work, dealt with rain and a constructed a great looking deck. From start to finish we could not be more pleased with Randy and his crew.

He was completely professional, understood the product line, came to our house and walked us through our options. Installation was perhaps my favorite part of the work, his crew was professional, highly skilled, and very approachable. Randy kept in contact throughout the installation and his crew kept me informed at beginning of each day about the plan. Work was completed in about 4 days. They started on time and finished on time - absolutely no change orders. We have already recommended Randy to friends and family.

I contracted with Randy McHenry in October 2014 for a deck job to be completed March 2015. We talked to three contractors in researching what we wanted to do and who we wanted to hire for our project. In the end we chose Randy because his pricing was competitive and he spent the most time with us getting us comfortable and laying out options. Some other companies had more of an "assembly line" feel. Randy paid attention to us and felt more customizable, which we appreciated. We went through several iterations before we decided on a final design and materials. We paid a small deposit to hold our spot for March. Remaining payment terms were 50% upon start of the project and 50% upon completion. In February Randy began the process of getting the appropriate permits with our township. This process was completely painless for me, and all that was required of me was an email to the township authorizing Randy to file the permits on our behalf. Our project started at the end of March - a couple weeks later than originally planned, but due to lousy winter weather outside of anyone's control. On the first day of the project, Randy was there at 7:30AM sharp to go over the job with his crew and walk me through things. It came to light that in our estimate, Randy had missed some additional footers required by code beneath a bay window. He explained that this required change was his mistake, and he would eat the cost. I appreciated the integrity. The job went off without a hitch. The crew was there at 7:30 on the dot every morning for a week. We had a few rainy days, so the project took about a day longer than planned, but again, nothing you can do about that. Our 450 sq ft deck turned out beautifully, and we couldn't be happier. Additionally, the crew was able to tear down and dispose of an old fence in my back yard for additional fee. But it saved me having to find another contractor, and I appreciated the flexibility. I had a great experience with McHenry Deck and would recommend them to friends / family. We look forward to enjoying our deck for many years to come.

Great! Randy was great right from the beginning. He came to our house during the winter and we discussed what we were looking for. He has great design software and was able to show us everything (including the colors). Very competitively priced. Once we agreed on a date and a price, that was it. He handled all of the permits, the work was performed exactly when he said, he and his team were clean and friendly and we could not be happier. I would recommend Randy to anyone looking for a deck in the area.

Randy is a true professional, thorough, very responsive, flexible...can't say enough about him. The team that he has hired does an efficient job and built a beautiful deck that we are very pleased with!

Randy was very helpful in solving my problems by offering suggestions that reduced his income but helped me tremendously. His crew was very punctual and the quality of the work was outstanding. I would definately use them again would welcome providing a reference to others.

Randy McHenry came out with a professional presentation. A book of pictures with other decks he had done and a sheet of names and numbers for referrals. He did a complete measurement and inspection and felt that my 30 year old deck foundation was still in good enough shape to keep as is. Two days later he e-mailed back a computer generated picture of my completed deck with the list of materials and his price quote. He was right in the ballpark with two other quotes that I received but Randy was the only one who brought deck and railing samples, a picture book of his other decks, referral names and he just seemed more professional. I sent him a deposit the next day to hold my start date. He and his crew of three other men showed up early on the scheduled date and when done four days later they totally cleaned everything up including under the deck and the lawn area where they were working and carted everything away. During construction the plan was to leave the sub-joists but once the surface boards were removed Randy realized that because the house had settled, the main support joist that was holding the deck to the house was pulling away. He suggested that for safety and code it should be replaced. Some other builder might have left that support joist as is or wanted to add another charge for an unforeseen development. Randy felt that the joist needed to be replaced for the full integrity of the deck and wouldn't ask for any additional money. He not only replaced the entire 20 ft length of 2x10 board but also capped it and placed flashing behind it for water protection and did the extra work all within his original quote. I thought that was very fair and I really respected him for that. That night when a neighbor asked how the deck was coming, I told him what the builder had done and how good and honest Randy was. I would definitely recommend Randy McHenry to anyone looking to build new or replace a deck.
