Rich's Rugs

Rich was excellent from start to finish. He had lots of samples to show us, which he bought to the home so we could see how it would look in the space. He was very reasonably priced. He was very honest and professional. The area to be carpeted was very complicated (lots of columns etc. was a newly finished basement) but he was able to make the final product look great and didn't charge any extra for all the work. He also installed laminate and was able to match it exactly to the laminate we already had installed.

Rich came to the house and discussed all of the carpet options with me. He had a lot of samples, but we were able to quickly narrow it down to the quality we wanted, soft and fluffy, but not shag. Because the two rooms we were recarpeting were the family room and my daughter's bedroom, we chose carpet with a bit of a pattern in it so that stains would not show as noticeably. He carefully measured out each room, trying to best fit the carpet into the room so that there would be less wasted carpet in the end, as well as making sure the seams were not going to be in high traffic areas. We had another company give estimates on carpeting, but the way the other company wanted to lay out the carpet didn't make as much sense to me as they way Rich suggested. In addition, the other company insisted that my husband be there when we met. A lot of companies insist that both members of a couple be there, which often makes me crazy. Rich was willing to meet with just me and my 10 year old daughter (and my mom, who was visiting at the time). Rich's estimate was a little bit more than the other company, but the difference was because we picked a higher end carpet for my daughter's room. The other company did not have this newer carpet--and trust me, it was definitely higher end...it was noticeable by touch. The major difference was how they chose to lay out the carpet. Rich's way just made more sense to me. One big discussion we had was whether or not to use a waterproof pad in the family room, which is the lowest part of the house, and thus on the cement subflooring. Some places recommend you use waterproof padding while others do not. Rich and I discussed the various pros and cons of each and eventually decided to not put waterproof padding-- we don't have a moisture problem in that room and this way, the carpet and padding can breathe--otherwise we might have mildewing problems during the humid summers--yuk! The day of install, Rich came in with a co-worker and showed me the carpet. It was exactly as shown on the sample. He also was able to talk to his supplier and got us a discount because the carpet he sold for my daughter's room had just come out--he got me a promo deal. He really worked for us. The install went smoothly and really, really quick. Why was Rich so good? Here are the highlights... At first, we weren't going to recarpet the stairs, a half flight, but after the painters had pretty much ruined the carpet on the stairs, we decided to add it in at the last minute. Rich basically applied the discount that we had for my daughter's carpet and did the stairs with some of the remains from the living room. He was amazing and so kind to do the stairs at the last minute (and probably didn't charge us enough!). Rich was very straight-forward and didn't make me feel like he was pressuring me on the sale. I don't respond well to that. He really wanted me to make the best decision for me. Clean-up afterwards was perfect. He even left us all of the remnants just in case we needed to patch repair later or wanted the pieces for something else. He hauled away all of the carpet and flooring as he had promised. Overall, I would highly recommend Rich. He is a great guy, easy to work with and is an independent businessman, not only working to support his family but also working to do right by his clients. A+

We called Rich's Rugs based on Angie's list reviews. Simply put we decided to go with Rich's Rugs because of Rich. Our experience was great from start to finish. Rich came to our house on a Sunday (bonus points) afternoon with plenty of samples and tons of enthusiasm. He made excellent recommendations on the type of carpet and took time to plan for the most efficient installation possible. He showed up right on time and worked tirelessly through the installation process. The finished product looks and feels amazing. Rich is the real deal and we would not hesitate to use him again or recommend him to friends.

Rich came for the estimate a month or so earlier and spent a lot of time with us reviewing our options, giving us recommendations and explaining the details of exactly how the job would be done and why. No high pressure sales pitch. He was very responsive to a few follow up calls and was flexible with scheduling our work. He didn't have any problem travelling outside of Philly to come to our place in Delaware County. His team arrived on time and was very courteous and respectful of our home while the work was being done and cleaned up afterwards. They completed the job well within the time estimate he had provided and we are completely satisfied with the work - the room looks awesome with the new carpeting. We couldn't be happier with the work and would definitely use him again and recommend him to others.

Rich was great from when I first called to completion of job. He answered my call on my first dial and came that night and gave an estimate that was much better then all other estimates. He explained in detail everything I needed to know and helped in my decision of type of carpeting far better then the other estimators. After agreeing on price and style he orders the rugs the next day and installed and finished the job the following day on Saturday. He was very enthusiastic and loves his work....He went the extra yard to please and be sure I was 100 percent happy with his work. I was very happy with his work as was my tenant. I would highly recommend Rich rugs for both price and quality and would use him again as my carpet installer. Thanks again Rich.

Rich was great! His enthusiasm and desire for the job showed. He responded to my initial email within the first day. He came out for the estimate for carpets in a duplex. He arrived on time and explained everything in detail on what to expect and how he would perform the job. His estimate beat the others and was able to schedule an appointment within that week but we went with the following week. Rich kept in contact with me and followed up with phone calls. The day of installation he sent pictures after completed. The finished product was excellent. Rich came back over to check over the carpets with us make sure everything copasetic. I would refer Rich?s Rugs to my family and friends and will use him in the future.

I emailed Rich through Angie's list to schedule an estimate for installing carpet on our 3rd floor and stairs. He responded a few hours later through email. Rich gets MAJOR POINTS for being very responsive to email, and for being AVAILABLE on SATURDAYS!! Seriously, I wish every contractor used email, and I hate having to take off of work, so this made a big difference for me. His estimate and sales consultation was very thorough. During the sales consultation, I appreciated that Rich recommended against berber carpet (even though it's a pricey product) because it's high maintenance. We selected something softer that is easier to take care of, and are very happy with our selection. He made sure to measure everything twice (or thrice!), and spent time figuring out how to place the carpet in the most efficient way possible with the fewest cuts. We enjoyed talking with him, and felt that he was very professional and trustworthy. Because of this, and because of the Saturday availability, we went ahead and booked him at the estimate appointment. He and his crew installed the carpet two weeks later as scheduled. He confirmed the installation via email the day before and arrived promptly. They arrived on time, worked really hard non-stop and finished right on schedule. We felt very comfortable with all members of his crew in our house. The finished job looks amazing! The carpet is very neat and tidy and snug. They did a great job with our old house's irregular corners and baseboards, and the whole 3rd floor and stairway look so so so much better. They even pulled off the banged up quarter-round molding on our baseboards free of charge. Overall we are thrilled with our new carpet, and with our experience with Rich's Rugs. We'll definitely call him again if we have any future carpet jobs!!!!

Rich was professional, as well as his assistant. They were great. Bought them lunch and they wouldn't even stop to eat it. They wanted to get it done and get it done right in a timely manner.

Rich performed the work with his son and another helper. Rich obviously takes a lot of pride in his work and it shows. He suggested a 15' width of carpet to eliminate a seam in the living and adjoining family room. He definitely went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with the product and installation. No way you can go wrong if you hire Rich.

I had seen advertisements about Angie's list and it seemed the perfect time to join. I did a search on carpet installers and started to read the reviews. I decided to call Rich from Rich's Rugs. Rich was very easy to talk to & i also found him informative. I felt very comfortable with Rich & asked if he would do the job. Although my place was out of Rich's service area, something I didn't realized until I spoke to him, he drove nearly an hour out of his way to came down & check out the job. Rick brought some samples to choose from, listened to my vision for the spaces & gave me his professional opinions, as well as his suggestions. Once I choose the carpet, Rick measured the spaces; priced out the spaces & gave me an estimated date of delivery & installation. Although I later decided not to carpet the closets & stairways, but instead use hardwood flooring, Rick still moved forward with carpeting the master bedroom. He arrived on the scheduled day. With his helper, also a very personable young man, they moved furniture & various items from the room. They worked hard even before they got to the work at hand. My furniture was made of solid wood so they really did some "heavy lifting!" But they did so with willing spirits & good humor. They broke down my California King wooden bed and emptied the entire room, all 19ft 12" of it. Once the room was cleared, they started to prepare the floor for the new carpet. Everything was done in a very professional manner. Once the carpet was layed, Rick and his helper remantled and replaced the furniture. Finally I could see my vision come alive! The new carpet had transformed my room. Thanks Rick!

Rich is so incredibly enthusiastic about his business, and it surely showed with the final results. From beginning to end our experience with Rich was absolutely wonderful. He responded to our initial call very quickly, and made himself available to us to review samples when it was convenient for us. With working doing the day, it was so convenient for Rich to come to our house in the evening. Rich had many samples to review and fully explained every step of the process. The rugs look beautiful and were laid and stretched perfectly. We were so happy with this installation, we are already talking about bringing Rich back to do some rooms that we had not planned on doing. Rich even installed some of the extra carpet into our closets that were not part of the estimate. Rich has so much energy and just loves what he is doing. Not only is he a fantastic "rug guy", he is also is a real nice guy. I would highly recommend Rich for any carpet installation that anyone might be considering.

From the beginning, Rich did an outstanding job. He answered my call promptly and scheduled a visit to give us an estimate immediately. When he came out, he was helpful in finding us the right carpeting. Since the carpeting was coming from California, we thought it would not be possible to have it before Christmas, but knowing that we had wanted it before the holidays, Rich called us as soon as it came in (early) and offered to put it in right away. (I can only imagine how demanding that would have been for him, but he was prepared to do it on short notice if we wished!) There was too much Christmas "chaos" and decorating for us to handle it then, but he came at the earliest date my husband and I could prepare for it. He did an excellent, very professional job on the new carpeting, explaining every step of the way what he was doing and asking our preference with any choices to be made. He was prompt in getting to our house (early even) and brought two very nice men who worked with him. They worked quickly and meticulously, moving everything (even managed to move our electronics w/o disconnecting everything) and they never stopped. Rich did a beautiful job laying the carpeting, and we were thrilled with the room with the existing carpeting after he stretched it for us. Rich and his assistants did an excellent job of cleaning up, moving all the furniture back exactly as we wanted it. While they were here, they were totally professional but also warm and good humored, making them a pleasure to have in our home. They are good people! I would never have found Rich's Rugs without Angies list, so that was a real win-win for us. I would strongly recommend him for future jobs. His price was excellent for what we got and I cannot find ANY problem at all with his work.

Rich was very understanding about our decision/need to go with someone else. The decision was based solely on timing, and look forward to working with Rich in the future.

His workmanship was excellent - the carpets fit like new again and he caused absolutely no damage to the walls or baseboard trim. Rich called to confirm the appointment on his way over and was here on time. In addition, he and went above and beyond in helping to move some furniture not only out of the way in order to do his job, but upstairs to another room. I would definitely call Rich again for carpet maintenance, and will call him first when I am in the market for new carpeting, as well.

I had a number of estimates and Rich was very competitive. He arrived on time, complete with samples, and gave us a price on the spot. As he personally installs what he sells, very hard to find these days, he can also address any concerns you may have from an installers point of view. He is not just a salesmen who tells you anything to get the sale, and of whom you never see again, he strives to be knowledgeable, fair and honest. As an estimator for 30 years myself, I know what to look for....and Rich brings it to the table. I highly recommend you call Rich with your carpet needs!

Rich was amazing. First, he came to our home to show us samples of the carpets. He came a 2nd time to cut the edges of the old carpet to create a better surface for the painting of the baseboards. Since the painting was finished earlier than expected, Rich came on a Sunday to install the carpet, making it possible for us to move back into our bedroom a full 2 days ahead of schedule. He did everything to please the customer. I would totally recommend Rich's Rugs.

I cannot praise Rich's Rugs loud enough. I called Rich on a Tuesday. He answered promptly and set up an appointment for the following evening at 8pm. He was very nice to set up a time that was most convenient for me since I coach my sons soccer teams. He called me before he left to make sure that I would still be home in time for our appointment. He arrived promptly for the appointment with many different samples of the different carpets he sells and installs. While my wife and I looked through the samples he explained the pluses and minuses of each piece that we were interested in. While we looked through the samples he started the measurements for the basement. Once we picked the carpet he gave us our estimate. We were so shocked on the competitive price of the carpet we decided to have him measure our living room, stairs and hallway upstairs. He measured everything out and gave the updated estimate and we decided he was our guy on the spot. Gave him 50% for the deposit and we setup a date for the following Monday October 29th to perform the installation. As we approached Monday October 29th the news was reporting that Hurricane Sandy would be making landfall on Monday the 29th. I called him on Friday fully expecting that he would need to re-schedule. He said we could play it by ear, but as long the carpet mill was open on Monday he would be there. Sure enough Hurricane Sandy came on Monday and Rich was there with 2 additional guys to install the carpet. This man is so dedicated that his windshield wipers broke on his drive over to NJ from Philly and he had to use bungee cords to keep the wipers going so he could see. Of course, he called me to let me know he was running late not telling me he was running late because his wipers were broken. I appreciated the call, but just wanted him to stay safe. Well he arrived at 9:30am with 2 guys to help him with the install. Once they arrived his guys moved our living room furniture into our kitchen. Yes that?s right, he moved the furniture at no additional charge. His crew was extremely careful not to scratch or dent any of our furniture or electronics. Rich and his crew were also very courteous and whenever I tried to help them, they said they would do it. My wife and kids went upstairs in the bedrooms to let Rich and his crew work. Whenever the kids ventured downstairs Rich and his crew were very polite and helped the kids navigate around the tack strips so they didn?t hurt themselves. After moving the furniture Rich and his crew began to rip up the old carpet and actually used a section of it to put in our foyer so they didn?t track water and mud into the house. They removed the carpet, rolled it up, wrapped it and neatly stacked it in our garage with the trash. They then started to rip up all the old nails that were in the baseboards so they would start from scratch. Rich started in the basement and when they were done told us we were free to go downstairs. It was very considerate since we were upstairs during the Hurricane. The family moved to the basement and the kids loved the carpet. It was like having a new toy. So as my family hunkered down in the basement Rich and his crew continued their work in our living room, stairs and hallway. Overall it took about 9 hours for Rich and his crew to complete the install. It would have gone quicker, but one of his crew members borrowed a wire hanger and a pair of pliers from me to fix the Wiper Blades of his truck. Once again they were apologetic for having to borrow my pliers and take a wire hanger. I was just happy they were able to fix their wipers. Pulling his best MacGyver impression he somehow fixed the wipers using a pair of pliers and a wire hanger. I was a little disappointed they didn?t need aluminum foil. <How does this apply to carpet installation. It doesn?t. Just was an amazing to see these guys work.> When they were done, they vacuumed the new rugs and put all the furniture back where it came from. Made my final payment to Rich and he and his crew were on their way home into the eye of Hurricane Sandy. Was glad to know he made it home safely. In conclusion. PROS - Extremely professional - Prompt - Great price - Moved the furniture free of charge - Vacuumed when done CONS Absolutely None. If you need carpet you need to call up Rich and hire him. I?ve never had a better experience dealing with a contractor then I had with Rich from Rich?s Rugs. I even recommended him to the contractor who finished my basement since he was that good. As some of you may wonder, No I am not related or knew Rich prior to hiring him. He is just that good. HIRE HIM.

Rich's carpet was exceptional in their service. He did a great job and worked to meet both our schedule and budget. We will definitely be hiring Rich again for carpet in our own house.

Rich came on a Sunday when we called last minute the weekend before our Son's Christening. He ended up doing more work than expected because our steps weren't done, he not only suggested we have it done but did them that day and made the material we had fit! He was polite and we felt comfortable with him at our home. He even vaccuumed after he was finished!

Rich Stein and his assistant were competent, courteous; the price for the installation was reasonable and the work was completed in several hours, to my wife's satisfaction.

Rich' was referred to be my a friend. After he came to give me an estimate and show my all of the different styles and qualities of carpet he had. After talking and listening to his sales pitch, I decided to go head and hire him for the job. The services that was done were; new carpet in my basement, living room area, my staircase and hallway. Rich was courteous and professional and he accommodated me by working around my schedule. Rich and his worker showed up ON TIME and READY TO WORK. Not only did they do a great job, they were very entertaining as they SANG and DANCED to prince and other favorites on the radio. I waited three weeks to write this review because of the simple fact that I wanted to get different feed back on how the rugs looked. Across the board everyone who sees them says they same thing..... "who did your rugs, they look great" ......I reply........ Rich the DANCING CARPET MAN, let me get you his card !

Rich's Rugs showed up timely and listened to me and my needs. He takes great pride in his work and wants you the customer to be happy. He goes over the different rug selection and padding. With all of us working different hours, Rich is willing to work with your schedule. The first two projects I hired Rich's rugs were over a year ago and the work that he performed still looks like he just did the job. I have not been let down. A project well done. I have referred Rich to close friends of mine and I am glad to write a review on his behalf. I have been completely satisfied and happy with all the jobs Rich's Rugs did for my house. I will be sure to call him for my next project. He takes his time to get the job done correctly but gets it done on the time schedule you both agreed on. All three jobs he has done for were done timely and exactly what we discussed. His prices are very affordable for the quality of work that you will receive if you hire Rich's Rugs.

Rich answered his phone when I called, came right away, gave an exact and accurate estimate, and did the job beautifully. He was punctual, respectful, friendly, courteous, professional, and quick. In fact, we've hired him to do another job, which he's working on now.

Everything went great. I first learned about Rich after he installed carpet for my brother who was finishing off his own basement in Philadelphia. Rich came out to the house as planned with an abundance of carpet and padding samples, just like any other carpet professional. He really took his time explaining the various options to me and my wife, even offering some great suggestions. For example, my wife and I wanted to use some left over tile that was found in the garage and use that to create "landings" for the entrance way into the sunroom from outside as well as the entrance way from the sunroom into the house. Rich happily obliged and made suggestions regarding the best way to functionally as well as aesthetically install the tiles. When Rich gave me the price, it was a no-brainer. I had carpet installed last year in a smaller room and paid almost TWICE what Rich charged me. Unlike other carpet companies, Rich is the salesman AND the installation guy. It has been my experience when it comes to carpet installers that there should simply be no other approach. Rich showed up a little more than a week later (just like he said) bright and early on a Saturday morning with his helper in tow. It was an extremely hot August day and my sunroom wasn't air conditioned. Due to the concrete floor, they needed to put down glue. This took a while to dry yet the guys took their time and paid meticulous attention to detail. They first installed the tile landings, followed by the padding, and then the carpets which were installed in segments (the room has an odd shape). You would think it was one giant piece of carpet because the seems just flat out aren't there! They then finished up the tile landings. They finished a few hours later, cleaned up, and replaced the furniture. It's amazing what new carpet can do to a room, regardless of age. It's also an amazing feeling, in this day and age (and due to past experience), when you know you hired the right guys for the job. When you go to hire a carpet installer, you have certain expectations. The big commercial carpet wholesalers (you know who they are) have NEVER met mine. Rich exceeded my expectations. For the first time since we moved in to the house, the floor in our sunroom looks oustanding!
