Contractor and helper arrived on time and worked almost nonstop for close to 8 hrs. to remove wallpaper from our family room/kitchen space. They patched any areas of plaster that were damaged during the wallpaper removal, as well as the unexpected remnants of a window frame that were revealed when the paper came off. They also gave us handy tips for painting. Contractor quoted an hourly rate to finish but I did not expect the job to take as long as it did. Even so, they worked hard and continuously.

Steve got lost on the way to my house, but he did call and inform that he was running late. When he arrived he was very friendly and began to work immediately. He initially did have some trouble getting the wallpaper removed but he eventually was able to get it taken care of. The job ended up being more than initially planned since the wall paper was so difficult to remove. I am having him back again in the future to remove the rest of the wall paper that he ran out of time and was unable to remove.
Description of Work: Steve and his partner removed wall paper and prepped my basement so that it is ready to primer and paint.

I need drywall repair around some windows that had moisture around them. He did good work and cleaned up after himself. My only problem was that original quote was for $99 for three hours of work. Work took 5 hours and he charged me $35 an hour for the additional 2 hours. He never asked in advance if the additional charge was okay. I think $35 an hour is a reasonable rate; however, I would have appreciated an estimate on how much longer the work would take. Also, the deal was $99 for 3 hours work. When his regular rate is $35 an hour; that is only a $6 savings over his regular rate. Not much of a deal.

Steve called ahead to tell us he was running late. We added tasks to what was in the original coupon (removing wallpaper), and he was very agreeable to also patch a crack and paint the walls . He told us what his hourly rate was before he began. He worked expertly and was very thorough. The wallpaper took a long time to remove because it had been in place more than 30 years. He guided me in what paint to buy and how much. He had paint swatches with him, so I was able to select a color while in my home. I then purchased paint at a local store. He was very neat in his work and did a beautiful job. Before he applied the paint, he used a shopvac to remove all of the shreds of wallpaper. He helped my husband move a buffet with a detachable marble top and also helped to return it to its original place in the dining room. He worked steadily with almost no breaks. He was friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed having him do the work.
Description of Work: The painter Steve removed wallpaper from the bottom half of our dining room walls. We asked and he agreed to do additional work and told us his hourly rate. Then he patched a crack and painted the walls. He told me what kind of paint to buy and had color swatches with him for me to select a color. He was very neat and did excellent work. He brought a shop vac to remove the shredded wallpaper. He caulked the wall where the baseboard was not flush with the wall.

It took a long time for him to get it off without hurting the drywall underneath. He didn't finish it the first day. He did a good job. I don't know exactly why it took him so long to get started. It wasn't that big of a room. He got half of the room done in about four hours, I'm not sure how long it was suppose to take. He told me there were a lot of layers and he had to be careful not to damage the drywall. He was a nice man.

Wonderful. originally purchased the 99.00 Angie's list deal for drywall repair or wallpaper removal. I sent Steve pictures of the crack and he provided me with a couple options for repair. He arrived the next day totally prepared to work. He repaired the crack and even matched the texture of my ceiling perfectly! He did a great job. I then inquired about a price to paint the living room. He quoted me 350.00. He was able to start that day. However, we soon realized the walls needed washed down prior to painting. Steve washed the walls and never requested extra payment from his original quote. This was definitely above and beyond. He wanted to make sure the job was done the right way. This was additional work which Steve worked in with his current full schedule. So not to leave the job undone, he returned the next day after a full day of scheduled jobs to finish. I was so pleased with his job. He is very easy to work with and is very fair and honest. He covered and helped move furniture, cleaned up, not a drop of paint on floor and even washed windows. It is so nice to find someone who doesn't overcharge and does a great job! I have already recommended him to family and friends and will definitely call him for future jobs.

I spoke with the service provider on Friday, February 22, 2013. He said Sunday would work best for him and that he'd call me on Saturday. He never called on Saturday and then never showed up on Sunday. It was particularly frustrating because I had totally cleaned out my cupboard. I got everything prepared for him to come do the work, and he never showed up.

I wasn't that impressed actually. He did a good job in one of the rooms. And the other two rooms, I don't even think he even did one of them. And the other one that he did, I can still see the watermarks. I had to leave when he was here, so I didn't see the work being done, but I wasn't overimpressed. I had to go ahead and do it again.

Initial contact with Steve was a bit rough, but eventually got sorted out. We met and talked at length about what I wanted to be done, which turned out to be not what the Big Deal covered and not actually something he would really want to take on. We agreed that I would do the work myself. Steve was very helpful in giving me lots of advice about what I would need and how I could the work, and offered that I could call his cell anytime to ask for help, which I appreciated.
Description of Work: Wanted our interior basement walls prepped to be painted. They are peeling with really old paint. Saw the Big Deal from Pittsburgh Painter's Guild and it mentioned repairing of walls. Turns out what we wanted done wasn't actually what the Big Deal was for, so after meeting and talking with Steve, we both decided that they would not do the work, and that I would actually do it myself.

They performed quite well. They arrived on time. They did the job. It required a little more time than they had estimated because the plaster did not dry as quickly as it usually does. They had to come back the second day and finish up. After they finished up, they cleaned up and it is fine. I am most satisfied with the results.
Description of Work: I used Bathroom Solutions. I had water damage to the drywall. He removed the damaged area and re-plastered it. I had a settling crack in the living room and he repaired that. I had a couple of dings in the drywall and he took care of that. The price was fair.

Showed up late, but did call to advise that he would be delayed. Arrived and did the work in a few hours.
Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal coupon for 4 hours of drywall/plaster repair. Service Provider completed the work in 2 hours or so and offered to do a few extra painting and cleanup jobs around the house. The initial dryall/plaster work was to repair a drywall seam where an addition to the house was made and the seam was bubbling up. He repaired it properly, used fans and hair dryer to quickly dry the plaster, then painted over it. Came out ok. Outside our house, he painted some iron railing and a lamp post. Also put down a bead of caulk in an opening between the molding and wall near the the interior staircase.
