Hutton Painting & Remodeling

The estimate arrived in June, and was accepted. Don gave me an approximate date of the end of July. With all the rain, it was a bit later, but he was in touch. He said he would be there first part of August. Called me with a firm date about one week into August. He turned up when promised, and started work. The previous paint job done by someone else was pretty bad. There was cracking and blistering in addition to soot and maybe mildew. They washed down the areas, rinsed and got them prepped. I was amazed at how much better it looked just getting the soot and whatever off the trim. They painted and cleaned and painted some more. Every day they turned up at the same time and worked all day. They did not play loud music. There was no cigarette smoke or mess in the garden. They were careful to drape everything thoroughly. There were five employees working and at no time did I hear profanity. I was impressed with the quality of his employees. (Two of them are his sons, by the way.) They were as careful of the garden and landscaping as was possible near the house. The change in the house is wonderful. I was completely pleased with the work and the people who did the work. I can recommend Don and the crew without reservation. If there is a place for photos I will attached them. They will give you an idea. They are of the north side of the house where the weather and pollution had made a mess of things. The look of them now is quite good, I think.

WONDERFUL COMPANY!On Angie’s List’s recommendation, we hired Hutton Painting Company of Pittsburgh, PA to paint our 20-year old cedar home. Both the quality of their work and the pleasure of working with them exceeded even our high expectations. Shane, the leader of our crew, answered all questions expertly and clearly, and kept us up to date on the progress. They came on the day that they projected, and finished on time and on budget. Our house looks better than new.Passersby in cars would stop to look at the amazing appearance of the house. And if that were not enough, we were instructed to contact them if we were dissatisfied with anything, or if any further attention was required.

All in all I'm very happy with the job the Huttons did. They were professional and thorough. I fined the basement myself so there was quite of bit of work getting the mud good enough to paint. I just didn't have the skill or the patience to do it myself. They were a little more expensive than some painters my friends hired but I had the Angie's deal and when I saw the great job they did in the bedrooms and basement, I couldn't be happier. Highly recommended.

Well, he also painted around our garage and did not charge us. We have moved hence not using him in the future.

Excellent quality but expensive. The previous painters that I've hired were much cheaper, but did not do nearly as good of a job.

Our ceiling partially collapsed after a few rainfalls, when we didn't know we had a roof leak problem. We lived with this damaged ceiling for a few years before we joined Angie's List and saw the variety of professional service people to choose from. We chose Hutton because of the other reviews and that they are in the South Hills area. After they looked at the problem, they gave a reasonable estimate and came to do the work when it was convenient for them and us. The ceiling looks better than ever. We are preparing for a family get together and they will all see how great the work looks. I'm sure they will be impressed.

We chose Hutton Painting and Remodeling from Angie's List. Once again this was the best thing for us to have done. Hutton Painting is a professional group of fine craftsmen. They arrived promptly on the first day and every day during the entire project which took about six and a half days. Everybody is friendly, helpful and concerned that the work being done is exactly what the customers want. Preparing the surfaces for painting was made more difficult because the painting job previously done was not prepped properly The men left each day with all their tools equipment and supplies stowed and the work area completely cleaned. The whole experience has been a delight and we feel as if our home has been made much more beautiful and even more of a joy to live in. We could not be more pleased with the job Hutton Painting and Remodeling did for us. We will recommend them to our friends and neighbors and when we have more painting to have done we will most certainly call on them to do the work.

The price included paint, which was the top of the line sherwin williams, and is of high quality. They always moved furniture, draped the rooms and taped everything off, then cleaned everything up at the end of the day. I gave them a key so that they could come and go freely throughout the day as needed as I have two small children who I did not want to be in the way! And I was completely comfortable with trusting them in my home. I am so glad we found them on Angie's List!

They were a pleasure to work with and have in my home. They are quiet, courteous and real professionals. They adjusted their work schedule to an unplanned absence on our part without complaint. I really can't say enough nice things.

From scheduling the job to discussing the extra work we had Hutton do for us they were kind, courteous and very pleasant to deal with. They arrived on time and discussed the project and ensured that everything was covered or moved. The workmanship was very neat and when they left you couldn't even tell that they were there, except the walls looked amazing along with the crown molding.

We purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for Hutton Painting and Remodeling to paint three rooms up to 1200 sq.ft.. Mr Hutton responded quicklly, set an inspection date, arrived promptly and was totaly professional. We also discussed additional work to be performed and after a few emailed estimetes we agreed upon a date (which had to be adjusted by one day) for the work to start. The crew arrived on time, were careful when moving furniture, were also very professional and neat. We could not have been more pleased with their work, it was excellent. We would not hesitate to hire them again and highly recommend them to friends and neighbors.

Great. Read the story above. I know folks have to like the color they select and make sure they are getting an experienced painting crew at a good price. We got that but I also learned that you have to ask how many painters are coming on the job since even having two good painters would have made this a two day process instead of the one day experience we had with four painters

They never came out and kept saying how far it was to my house. He never showed up and wasn't very professional. He said that maybe he'd come out but if he didn't show up, then it was too far.

They were very responsive to scheduling the work. They performed all of the work in two days as promised and cleaned up extremely well after they were done both days.

I bought an Angie's List "Big Deal" for their interior painting services. And then I had some things happen in my personal life that prevented me from using the coupon for over a year. They honored the coupon without giving me a hassle. This was especially generous because I had to have them come out twice for the estimate (I changed the scope of work in the year since I bought the coupon). They showed up on time every day for a week and worked a full day. They were clean, using many drop clothes and even vacuuming up after themselves. They were also very polite. They finished the job when they said they would and they charged me exactly what the estimate said. They painted the ceiling, wood trim, wood doors and walls in the master bedroom + en suite bath, two smaller bedrooms, guest bathroom, hallway and stairs (literally half of my house!) The work looks great. It made me realize that professional painters really do have something that the average "weekend warrior" does not. You can tell which rooms of my house I painted and which ones Hutton painted. I would use them again for my painting needs.

I had called them to fix the damage around the ceiling and to paint. He dug the damage out and it was very bad in one section. He said they would put a patch over it and skim coat the area and then paint it. I had bought the Big Deal for two men to paint for $399. He had trouble covering the patch. He was so kind to come back numerous times to cover it and primed it. He had never encountered a problem like this before. He said he would make it work and I told him I was confident he would fix the problem. He did fix the problem and they painted the entire ceiling as well as the dining room, living room, and hallway. We liked his work so much we had him stain our wooden fence. It was a time consuming job, but he had a few different men rolling the stain on. It turned out very well. Later on we had them power wash our deck and re-stain that as well. I am very pleased with them and I would call them back in a minute. The ceiling looks great. All the painting they did looks great.

The job was completed in 2 days using 2 guys. They arrived on time on the days they came. They were originally scheduled to come on Monday the 14th, but had to push it off by a day because they were finishing up another job. They called the day before and let me know of this schedule change. When they arrived on Tuesday they worked very hard to move all of the furniture and wall art. They did a fantastic job painting. The walls look incredible :) I would definitely hire again.

They were booked up for the end of the season but squeezed us in. We had a small exterior painting job. They did all the painting in one day at an affordable price. They were professional too.

They are easy to communicate with. They're very prompt by phone or email. I decided not to use the deal because it didn't fit my needs.

So far, so good. Read above statement.

First off, the amount I paid was a steal. I have had other contractors give me estimates and all were just much more than I was willing to pay. Almost all of the footage to be painted was covered by the Big Deals. It included 1200sqft for up to 3 rooms for $449. So when I purchased 2 of them, I got 2400sqft of wall painted for just under $900. It included small patchwork and 2 coats of paint per wall, limited to one color of paint per room. I used the same color scheme throughout the house and was told that I picked great colors for covering in 2 coats. Grey is a great color to use! I actually took down all baseboards, trim, and woodwork beforehand as I am replacing it all with a more modern looking trim. So they didn't have use caution around all edges except around kitchen cabinets and ceilings. We also did all ceilings ourselves beforehand to save money. Second, you could not ask for a nicer group of people to do work for you. They are all family (I believe a father, his two sons, and two son-in-laws helping out). Some of them were in town for their holiday break from college and were there to help. This allowed them to get everything done in two days and only working 9a-3p. This was very convenient for me having two kids that would only be in daycare during the day. The painting was done neatly. They put drop cloths on every floor and surface throughout the house. They were all very friendly. One of them thought they smelled gas leaking from my oven/stove and they even offered to check it out for me. There was no leak, however, I appreciated them looking into it for me. These guys were great contractors. I'm not completely sure what all they do, but if you are looking for interior painters, and they service your area, they are a great choice. I am very satisfied with the results and feel I got a great deal! I will definitely consider having them back in the future should I need more work done. I would love to have my outside painted a few years from now and would call them back in a heartbeat.

(See above for more details) We had a relatively small window of time to complete the painting and Hutton Painting finished two days before the deadline. We appreciated their meticulousness and their suggestions about how to improve the overall results.

The owner was very nice, they showed up when they said and did a decent job. The only problem was I had to pay for an additional can of paint that was practically unused, and they missed an area, but they did come back and paint it. Overall I would say they did a good job for the advertised special.

The agreement through Angie's List special was to provide 2 days of painting. Based on my calculation we were lucky to get 6 hours on each of the 2 days. They showed up late and took a long lunch period and left early so 6 hours per day may be overstated. They complained that they should have never took to work with this special and gave many excuses. They worked very very slow and did not complete sections in total. Example put ladder up on the window trim but never went back to paint were the later was located. This was a very bad experience and waste of money. Stay away Do not hire
