Description of Work: Removed rotted sections of logs and replaced with a log face.

Description of Work: Jamie and Mike removed and replaced rotted logs, repaired the roof, and refinished the interior where construction occurred. They had to determine the extent of rot damage that resulted from a design flaw in the original structural plans that gradually became evident over 30 years, then they had to figure out how to correct it. And they did correct doing a fabulous job.

Description of Work: Log home repair and construction. We had estimates from two log restoration companies and they were very close in price. We chose Canfield Construction and we are very pleased that we did. Canfield Construction corn blasted our log home (and 12x24 shed) to remove the old stain. It takes the logs to their natural state. Then they brushed the logs, chalked with log home chalking (very important) where necessary and applied Sikkens stain. We also had them remove cedar siding from our garage and replace with log siding and stain. Plus we had them remove our front porch decking and replace with pressure treated decking. They did an excellent job in every area. They started the date agreed upon. They worked efficiently and every evening left the work site extremely clean. They even tarped the ground and removed the debris from the corn blasting. They know their business. I didn't know there was so much to know regarding logs until I had another contractor 3 years ago clean and stain our logs who actually put our home at risk because they didn't do it correctly (not a good way to learn). Some contractors may claim they know logs and wood siding...but don't put your home at risk. Jamie definitely knows the log business. Jamie Canfield and his crew completely restored our home and now we will be on a yearly maintenance (per our request) where he will come out and check our logs, chalk and stain if and where needed, and keep the place in solid top condition. We feel confident we are in good hands. Jamie explains everything. Gave us all our options. He took the time to show us all the different stain colors and how they would look directly on our home so we could make a choice. He was always educating us. The team's work was clean and accurate. The cuts and finishing on the log siding and decking they installed was excellent. Very happy. In the future we would like to put a shed dormer off our second floor and we plan to have Jamie Canfield perform that work. We won't even go for a second estimate we are that confident in the workmanship demonstrated and the fair quote he will provide.
