Darrell McClung Masonry Restoration

This guy took a $200 deposit from me for "matetials" and now won't return my calls. Do not let this scumbag cheat you out of your money. He cannot be trusted.

I hired Darrell from a recommendation of a friend. He was contracted to repair my chimney cap and repair any failed mortar joints in the chimney. Water was heavily leaking in the 2nd floor of my home due to this issue. I signed an agreement and partially paid him in Spring of 2019. Due to summer weather and family issues, we agreed to hold off until September 2019. September 2019 came and went, no contact from Darrell. October 2019 came and went also, still no contact. In November 2019, after many phone calls, he finally came out to start the work. From what I could tell, he did not do much, if any, of the work and paid a young kid to do the work and sat in his truck and smoked (cigarette butts left in my driveway). Since the weather was getting to cold, he recommended that the job be finished in Spring 2020. He also requested the balance due for the job, which I reluctantly agreed to pay. Spring 2020 rolls around and after a couple phone calls to him to get the job finished up, no response from him. He left several different tools and other masonry equipment at my home, which the friend that recommended him came and collected. When I finally got a chance to inspect the work that was done, I found that the mortar joints were ground out, but never repointed and the top chimney cap was sloppily done. Also, there were some mortar joints that had been repointed, but again, also done very poorly. My friend that recommended him felt bad about the whole situation and agreed to come over and finish the work for him (I assisted in the repair as well). Whatever is going on in his life, I do feel bad for his situation, but nonetheless, left the job incomplete and there was little to no communication. I would not recommend him to anyone for any kind of masonry work.

Darrell was great. He was punctual and had great communication throughout the job. We had an opening and a few windows we wanted removed on our garage. He blocked up and applied stucco to those areas of our garage. We will use him again for any future stucco work we need done.

My 20+ year old stucco chimney was in a very bad shape, I researched on Angie's List to get estimates and selected Darrell McClung based on our phone conversation (he just came across as an honest person) and am now glad I did. Took a little longer than expected because he's very detail oriented, color match was exact and will guarantee his work for as long as I live here! I have another chimney in the back of the house that needs attention and will have Darrell work on it too this spring.

It went very well. I called to get a couple estimates, I called them and they came out that same day to give estimate. I had a good feeling with this company. He is very personalble and will work with you. They were always on time and would call ahead to let me know when to expect them.

Great! He called back right away, showed up to the house on time, would call us if there was an issue, and did a great job!

Darrell was amazing. He is very professional, helpful, HONEST and talented. We had a few estimates from other contractors and he was the most reasonable and professional of them all. He helped us find economical solutions to our project without sacrificing quality. He showed up on time, and when he left, everything was clean. I definitely plan on using him again.
