These guys are great. They’re not flashy and pushy. Just all business and very professional and did excellent work. In fact they helped us choose from tons of tiles, coping and plaster colors, and the installation was flawless. The pool looks fantastic. It’s a family operation and they clearly take pride in what they do. Their price was in line with other bids and I’d call them in a heartbeat if I need more pool work done.

Valdimore and Byron were terrific. They quickly uncovered the problem. Diagnosed it. Suggested a remedy, and did everything with a smile, or should I say two smiles. They seem very well trained and professional.

When it came time to redo the pool plaster/coping/ and caulking on my pool I got 6 quotes from pool companies in the area. All the quotes came within a $1000 price range I used Coronado’s Pool Plaster, Inc for my pool project based on the recommendation of a good friend. She had her WHOLE pool renovated. I met the salesman to explain the scope of the job and review what was needed. He was very personable and agreeable. In hindsight I can reflect and acknowledge that there was a communication gap. After being re-scheduled three times because of the heavy rains we were having in the area I was scheduled for a Tuesday demolition and a Thursday re-construction. . When our scheduled date arrived we waited for the crew to show up and ONLY by luck as my husband was walking our dogs did he realize that the crew was at our neighbor’s house across the street He immediately went over and ascertained that they were indeed here to do our pool. The 2 man crew came and took their equipment off the truck and proceeded to set up the pool pump to drain the pool. As I watched he threaded 3 heavy duty firetruck type hoses to the pump and laid them out across my lawn. The hose ended on my lawn approximately 25feet from the street. I was appalled. He then ran to his truck and pulled a plastic tarp off and jerry rigged the tarp to run from the end of the hose towards the street. I was very upset and asked if he could get another piece of hose. He indicated that he could not. He started the pump and 36,000 gallons of water proceeded to come out on my lawn and create a flood. We happened to have a long piece of underground garden tubing in our side yard-which I grabbed and installed at the end of their hose bringing the water to reach the street. I needed to secure this by placing our garbage cans securely on either side to hold it in place. The 2 man crew then started the demolition work. As I watched I could not believe the unsafe manner in which these men were working. I immediately called the main office and asked for a copy of their workmens’ comp policy. I’m not just talking working without facemasks’, gloves’, ear or eye protection. I’m talking about sitting spread eagled on the pool coping working with a jack hammer that is pointed in the direction of the groin area. That night after they left we received a voice mail message at approximately 6PM telling us that the crew would be back the very next day-WEDNESDAY to complete the job. I was beside myself because the weather forecast predicted torrential rains and I was going to be away from home for a doctors’ appointment. I called and left a message that I wanted to talk to them. The next morning a crew of 3 men arrived before 7AM and started working at breakneck speed. I asked what was going on and they said they had to get as much done before the rain……………………? I check the weather prediction and it said 80% heavy thunderstorms. I questioned the foreman and he said it would be fine. They would get the cement work done and it would set up before the rain. I had to leave for my appointment and rushed home just as the deluge started. The workmen had cleaned up and were laying down the concrete on the very last spot in the spa area. I ran around and dragged out 3 of our personal tarps to cover the recently cemented pool/spa area to protect it as best I could. In addition to this there was TOTAL miscommunication as far as the caulking procedure. We live in an area where the winters-for the most part get down to the teens. And so the proper method of caulking pools is to use a 2 part caulking product. Both my husband and I separately talked to the salesman about the use of BACKER rod in the joints and were told with a head shake and assurance that this would be done. When it came time for their special caulking department to proceed I was aghast as they placed sand around the perimeter and proceeded to fill this in with a Sikaflex Self-Leveling Sealant by using a caulking gun. I asked them why they were doing this and they said that’s how they do all their pools. I called Sikaflex myself and explained what was happening and they told me that it is not recommended to use sand to fill in the gaps around the pool coping and deck. It says this same thing on the very product Coronado’s was using. And on top of this they asked if I wanted them to do the surrounding caulking on the deck area. What? How do you give a quote on a job without incorporating the whole job? At this point I wanted them done and off my property. I had numerous conversations with the women who answered the phones at the office. I asked that Mr. Jose Coronado come out and look at the pool. I never heard back from them. Subsequently I hired a nearby company to rip out all the caulking previously done and install backer rod with Sikaflex 2C NS EZ Mix 2-part Polyurethane Elastomeric Sealant. This review is based on my experience with the company. Pictures and videos available upon request. My recommendations for any pool job: Read and re-read your contract. Do the measurements yourself before you sign anything and understand what is included. Don’t hire a company that is located 45 minutes away from your home in the event they need additional equipment. Don’t hire a company where there is a communications gap and you have to speak to a 3rd party to get your thoughts across. Make sure the company has a hose long enough to reach from you pool area to the drainage area. Make sure the truck is not in a spot that can hit your house when truck doors are swinging open. Make sure there is an unobstructed electrical outlet nearby. Make sure the company has an up to date liability insurance policy. And make sure your homeowner's insurance is up to date as well.
Description of Work: I needed to have the pool coping and tile work redone as well as the caulking around the pool as well as on the deck.

The experience with Coronado was seamless from dealing with the salesman through the entire plastering process and follow up. This company was attentive, professsional and clearly pride themselves on customer service. The salesman was honest and not pushy. The prep was done by one team and plastering by another. Each team was competent and professional. After the job was completed, we followed the maintenance instructions but had difficulty controlling the pH as the plaster cured. A representative came by each day to ensure the surface looked right and corrected the pH as necessary. There were 2 minor repairs and stains that were taken care of promptly. I would highly recommend this company.

We hired Coronado to re-plaster our pool in 2012. As part of the contract we were offered "ten feet of tiling for free". While the re-plaster was done to our satisfaction, the tile work was awful even after it was just put in. The tiles were not even, they were large and irregular grout lines and generally bad work. We needed more than ten feet done and they did the work at no charge. However because they claim it was a free service they refuse to stand behind the work done. Two years later the tiles are falling out, there are gaps were the grout is just crumbling and the whole thing looks like #$%^/ Their manager came out to look at it and even he was amazed at the shoddy work. Clearly we did not have the "A Team" on our job, someone was just learning and it shows. The office refuses to do anything to fix it because "it was a free service". Yeah, a free service on a $8500 contract. I wish I could post the photos here.
